>> ♪ >> live from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia, this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> ♪ >> braking right now at noon, the jury in the bill cosby sexual assault trial says it cannot reach a decision but the judge says get back to work. the jury has been deliberating for about 30 hours over four days. good afternoon, i'm rahel solomon. >> i'm jim donovan moments ago jurors told the judge they are deadlocked and they could not reach a unanimous verdict on

all of the charges. joe holden is tracking the latest. what is the latest at this point? >> reporter: well, jim, this bell is tolling marking hour 30 here of deliberations and just 30 minutes ago the jury returned to the courtroom looking anxious and tired. they told the judge that they are deadlocked on every single count of aggravated indecent assault. bylaw, the judge tells the jury to return to the jury room and keep working. short of violence is the part of the instruction that is most interesting to keep working at all of this "short of violence." part of the instruction that the judge read to keep working is that there is no determination at this point if the jury is hopelessly deadlocked, this is just the first stage in what the cosby team is calling somewhat of a victory. in words just made to the media andrew wyatt bill

cosby's publicist says that this decision shows what cosby has been saying all along "we hope nobody tries to change their, meaning the jury's mind and what they have been working over inside that that jury room. again, now the jury deliberating for 30 hours over the last four days. bill cosby stands accused of drugging and sexually assaulting andrea constand on a night back in 2004. now the defense went hammering after inconsistencies that andrea constand had both on the stand in testimony and in a court deposition and also in a police report that she made a year after the alleged sexual assault. so, this is a seismic development in the case of the commonwealth of pennsylvania versus bill cosby. bill cosby all along saying that this wall incorrect, this was not how the night played out. he claimed that he and andrea constand had a brewing

romantic relationship and that this was the third encounter in what had been this romantic relationship. it was described as "heady" between the two and that's not the story prosecutors and andrea constand had mentioned. we should point out historically that former district attorney bruce castor never proceeded with this case claiming that the testified did not exist to bring forth a conviction. right now both sides summing up what this means, trying to read all of the tea leaves but the breaking news the seismic development that after 30 hours in some tight quarters here at the montgomery county courthouse the jury in the case of bill cosby unable to relation many reach -- reach conclusions on the three aggravated indecent assault charges meaning at this stage they're telling the judge they are deadlocked. the judge has not set a time line for when he'll call the jury back in. he's allowing the jury to work through this and to come to a conclusion.

correspondent seth lemon brings us the the latest from washington. >> reporter: vice president mike pence arrived at the hospital. the right hand tweeted this photo and asked everyone to keep the wounded in their prayers. scalise is listed in critical condition and doctors say he'll need more surgeries. [gunfire] >> reporter: this video shows scalise lying on the baseball field where the gunman opened fire. special agent griner who is on scalise's security detail returned fire after she had been shot herself. lobbyist matt mika was shot twice in the chest. friends say he gave them a thumbs up between surgeries. special agent david bailey was injured during the shootout as was congressman roger williams. williams and his staff, zach barth, joined cbs this morning. >> saw him train his gun at me. everything around me started to pop. i got hit in the leg. if i wanted to live, i needed to make a run for it. >> reporter: the house of

obstruct justice. correspondent weijia jiang has the latest from the white house. >> reporter: cbs learned director of national intelligence dan coats has agreed to be interviews by special counsel robert mueller about conversationsed with president trump concerning the russia investigation. >> i don't believe it's appropriate for me to address that in a public session. >> reporter: at a senate hearing last week coates would not comment on the issue and national security agency director mike rogers denied any white house pressure. >> from the best of my recollection i have never been directed to do anything i believed to be illegal immoral unethical or inappropriate. >> reporter: rogers is also cooperating with mueller's investigation. the interviews with the special counsel suggest mueller's investigation is now looking at whether president trump tried to obstruct justice as the washington post first reported. allegations of obstruction surfaced after president trump fired comey. comey testified the president

asked him to lift the cloud of the russia investigation. >> i don't think it's for me to say whether the conversation i had with the president was an effort to obstruct. >> reporter: this morning the president tweeted you are witnessing the single greatest witch hunt in american political history led by some very bad and conflicted people. in addition to this special counsel two congressional committees are also conducting investigations. weijia jiang for cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> and we are learning more about the condition of an american student who was released by north korea in a coma. cincinnati hospital treating otto warmbier says the 22-year-old suffered a severe neurological injury. north korea claims his coma resulted from botulism and a sleeping pill. he was released from prison on tuesday. he was 17 months into a 15 year sentence for allegedly trying to steal a propaganda banner while visiting the country. the death toll is climb. >> firefighters were able to extinguish the last of the flames as they search for more victims. we'll have an update next.

>> and police say dozens of people are still missing and the death toll will likely rise. meanwhile there's an outpouring of support for victims. correspondent brook silva-braga has more. >> reporter: this is what the flames left behind. the blackened shell of a 24 story highrise. an inferno tour through complex in the middle of the night wednesday trapping residents. the disturbing video you're about to see was streamed live on facebook from the top floor of the building. >> hello. come here. come here. hello. >> okay. >> reporter: we don't know if she survived. authorities say it could take weeks to search the site. >> tragically now we are not expecting to find anyone else alive. it will be an absolute miracle for anyone to be left alive. >> reporter: fire experts believe cosmetic siding recently added to the building's exterior may have fueled the blaze. north carolina native atani lives nearby. >> people have been complaining totten fantastic

management organization that better fire plans have to be put in place. >> reporter: neighbors have donated everything from clothes to food to diapers and toys. now volunteers are organizing it into boxes so it can be handed out. robby sing usually does relief work in the middle east. >> london. >> it's like being back in syria or iraq. >> it seems like a war zone. it was shocking. >> reporter: british singer adele attended a vigil. authorities say more than a dozen people are still missing. in london, brook silva-braga for cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> a brown bear attacked four children in alaska and sends three of them to the hospital. authorities say the children were hiking yesterday at a campground near anchorage when they came across the bear. the three children suffered nonlife-threatening injuries. wildlife officials searched for the bear but say they could not find it. they decided it was no longer a threat and must have left the area. >> police in parts of bucks

county are asking residents to be careful after several reports of bear sightings and an eyewitness sent us photos. officials believe a mother bear is heading south with her cubs. the state game commission is urging nearby residents not to approach the bears and also recommends securing things that could attract bears like bird feeders grills and trash cans. well, a death defying stunt still ahead on "eyewitness news." nik wallenda's wife dangles from a chopper over niagara falls by her teeth. >> after the break she talks about what it was like to hover 300 feet above the raging water. katie. >> i don't know how you look graceful and pull that off but she's doing it. looking ahead to a weekend that features some higher heat than were we currently have a. a very warm father's day upper 80's but also a couple spotty showers or thunderstorms along the way as well as we sit between frontal boundaries and eventually some heavy rain or storms are going to be returning to the forecast into next week so we'll walk you through the timing on all of

feel the humidity ramping. storm scan is empty. other than clouds it's looking good out there. some of you have some sunshine at the moment like we do in philadelphia but i'll show you a neighborhood network shot in a second that does have a bit more cloud cover to work with. even as early as overnight and especially tomorrow morning some showers begin to blossom on the radar. now, the key word here is scattered. 'cause they're not going to be washout status type showers that cover the entire region but it wouldn't be the worst idea to keep an umbrella around simply because especially in the morning and then again later in the day these showers start to fire up and many of us are whether it's for the morning commute, p.m. commute mid part of the day there may be a little bit of a lull. clouds are expected and if these thunderstorms verify you'll have some pretty heavy downpours and very strong storms rumbling through say, d.c. for example. this gives us something to watch an the placement is everything. it might be a little further north in fact. we have to keep a watch on the

radar into the second half of tomorrow but those showers and storms likely linger into the late night hours and that's your warm front lifting in. let's very briefly turn our attention to the tropics because there is a system that has the object of some tropical development over the next five days. this batch, within this circle this batch of showers and storms has a potential to actually develop. i'm thinking at this point right now though that we wouldn't have any kind of major issues here locally from that, perhaps some tropical moisture gets drawn in later next week so this is many days away and a lot could change. your dewpoints are low. isn't that nice? in dover they're 30ing 79 despite a wind flow out of the south or the southeast. 74 degrees the temperature in atlantic city. and we'll get you another degree or two in philly before it's all said and done. here's that cloudy shot i promised.

not the pretty beginning but with that comfort level we'll take it. wet weather on the way for tomorrow. let's enjoy this while we have it. at the shore right now a lot of umbrellas to be seen in some of our field cameras you'll see a mix of that sun and cloud cover. not quite as warnings 74 but regardless that u.v. index is still up to nine and the rip current risk is moderate so always swim near lifeguards especially when the rip current risk is a little high her. as of tomorrow showers and storms return and they'll be scattered and mainly p.m. hours saturday and father's day. you should be able to get the outdoor plans in with dad especially many especially early on. by monday that looking to be the wettest day of the pack. >> katie thank you. >> you got it. >> it's sound advice for most people to avoid jumping on or off a boat. >> for some teens in wisconsin a successful leap at the key to landing a coveted summer job. >> jump. >> i love this. teens are literally jumping at the chance to make special
