later this afternoon or early afternoon for the poconos and just sluggishly creeping with time. time for the evening rush, in fact, that this vicinity, generally those immediate suburbs outside of philly into the city will be seeing the brunt of these storms come in. that's basically worst time you could hope for. you'll get ample opportunity to heat up the atmosphere heating of day. sun beating down and cloud cover to spike us up to 90 in city and ample moisture. it's humid outside. moisture gets squeezed out of the clouds as storms come through and flash flood we mentioned at the desk is coming through or starting as of noontime for a good portion of the area. with this we could end up with several inches worm of rain along the heaviest lead leading edge of storms. very, very soaking downpours and if you hear thunder you have to head inside. there could be more severe threats coming with which we get to later in the show. upper 70s most of you at the

federal courthouse where the process begins in a few hours. good morning, trang. >> good morning, rakeel and raquel and jim. and legal observers are saying juror selection could move quickly as there's a larger jury pool in federal trial. jurors will be selected from nine county area of eastern pennsylvania as far away as lancaster county. here's a recap of the case. sem williams faces 29 counts corruption and bribery charges accused of accepting tens of thousands of dollars in bribes from two different business owners in exchange for legal favors. those gifts included al all-inclusive vacation to dominican rep and jaguar. williams is charged with defrauding nursing home and elderly mother of money set aside to pay for her care. he's denied any wrong doing but an attorney following the case says the damage to williams' representation has

nary hearing. charges against shawn your bury including a vaited and assault. he approached oh and demand car keys and stabbed him. his attorney says his client denies charges. oh meantime wept back to work after a couple days after being treated in the hospital. overseas now on to developing story this morning. one person is dead and ten others hurt after a van nowed through a crowd of pedestrians noor a mosque in london. >> brook is live in london from what authorities are saying has hallmark of terror attack good morning, brook. >> good morning, jim, raquel, hundreds were gathered on a street when a vehicle made a sharp turn down the dead end street into the crowd. one person died at the scene. it's unclear police say at this point whether that was a direct result of attack. this, of course being is reminiscent of other terror incidents here. this time muslim leaders are

saying it maying motivated by islamaphobia. >> a van ran into a crowd adds worshipers were leaving a mosque during the holy month of ramadan. >> the van turned left with no indication into the people. on one of them was under the van and people gathered around the van to lift the van up to get this guy out from under the van. >> this cellphone video taken moments after the crash shows the chaos. police arrested the driver 48-year-old man. >> this is being treated as terrorist attack and counter terrorism command is investigating. this was attack on london and all londoners and we should all stand together against extremists whatever their cause. >> many on the mosque and social media criticized police and media for what they saw as too slow decision to label the mosque as terror.

cbsphilly.com. >> back to local news. philadelphia public school teachers vote tonight on a new contract. norniateers for the school disstripingt and philadelphia federation of teachers agreed on tentative deal that happened friday. teachers have been working four years without a contract and they've also not had a pay increase in five years. while there's no word on what's in the new deal it apparently runs through august of 2020. teachers union has about 10,000 members. officials with new jersey environmental protection agency will be back at big timber creek after a power outage caused thousands of gal opens of sewage to spill into the water way. hazmat was called out to the landing pumping station in gloucester country yesterday afternoon. sewage was spilling into big timber creek two hours before ow power was restored. theerz warning residents not to swim or fish in the water. >> as congressman steve scalise recovers from a gunshot wound. people in the home toupd are showing support.

>> when secretary of navy says there will be a full investigation the military identified all seven sailors killed with the u.s.s. fitzgerald and cargo ship collided off the coast of japan. one serviceman was 24-year-old first class xavier martin of maryland andies his father is coming to grips with losing his only son. >> it's very hard. it's my only child, all i have. >> several other crew members and captain suffered injuries in the crash. it happened as many of the members of the crew were sleeping. a member of president trump's legal team insisted the president is not currently under investigation. in a tweet two days ago the president announced he is under investigation by special council robert mueller this

came after "washington post" broke the story. yesterday in interview with cbs one of the president's lawyers denied those claims. >> there's been no notification there the special council office that president is under investigation. by twitter is or social media was in response to "washington post" piece with five anonymous sources. >> the post shot back by saying the president is indeed under investigation. public officials on both side of the aisle are impressing the president to cooperate with the investigation. >> and steve scalise has been upgraded from critical to serious. scalise continues to show signs of improvement after shot at a republican baseball practice last week. yesterday's supporters held a blood drive in his honor showing they were scalise strong. dozens stopped by the congressman's parish and donated blood. >> i think it's nice thing they do. plus i'm sure a lot of other people will benefit from all

of this too. >> it's a great feeling to know when there's tragedy striking we can come together as community and help people. >> donations won't go directly to congressman scalise they will stay in southern lieu how to help those in need. >> time now 5:16 turning to the forecast. >> katie tracking storms. we can see some of that. >> indeed we are. >> this looks like a pretty busy weather day and not on our side of the day. many afternoon and evening concerns in the city any way you don't have to worry about storms in strength or severe possibility until early evening. so 7, 8:00ish is timing we're expecting for city of philadelphia and we will in fact time that out stick with me here. i want to show you storm scan to get underway the leading edge of a potent cold front and it's not going to knock the temperatures back a ton tomorrow but it's battling extensive heat and extensive humidity and moisture content

in the atmosphere which gets heavy rain. to get squeezed out of clouds. as the day goes on. you can see right now primarily showers. not even thunderstorms on the leading edge of this and there has been a few thunderstorms 23 you look chosely developing in last couple hours here just north of philadelphia towards new york state border and not too much to expect locally. very quickly i want to turn our focus to the tropics and show you i'll step out of the way and briefly show this to you there's two separate disturbances possibility of tropical cyclone number two and 80% chance of development off the uk tan. we'll keep an eye on this at this point not expecting direct issues from our area for the tropical activity. it's something we like to watch this time of year. let's bring it back to what is going on here. there may be a shower that fires up. this is least of our worries for early part of day. you will see sunshine. we expect you heat up easily

we get up to 1 to 3:00 p.m. and leading edge of storms erupt in poconos a few hours later you're talking moving right through chester, montgomery, bucks counties and look when you start to see math enter ashowing up on intensity of rainfall maps incredibly heavy and look at time stamp. just in time for so many of us to be headed home from afternoon activities and just from work. later in the day. and 7, 8 p.m. is about the time it rumble as cross i-95. schuylkill, and northeast extension and towards 9 p.m., 10 accuweather or so it's the shore's problem. out of here overnight and clearing out for sunshine. how much rain are we talking. let us have this play out at least an inch many locations and this may be under done. truth fully if it comes down heavily enough and line moves slowly nephew could end up over 2" in some locations. quickly dew points very steamy
