alternate is berry lane in media and one in maze landing, route 50, cape may avenue, one to two lanes blocked here. we have a lot more coming up in a couple minutes. jim, rahel. >> quite the cleanup job this morning after powerful storms sweat over parts of our region and five homes struck by lightning. >> one in kenneth square where a flee alarm fire broke out. this is the home on the 100 block of osborne circle. no fire hydrants were in the area. they had to use water from nearby tankers and ponds. battling the blaze was no easy task. >> the lightning strike was to the chimney and we went down and compromised structure areas between the basement and first floor level. we're told the damage in this home is extensive. the owners were aware and their house sister and pets fortunately got safely. >> fire fight others put out

an overnight blaze at the strip mall in olney inside harbor seafood gashen 6500 block of rising sun avenue 3:00 this morning. no injuries were reported and no word on what cause the fire. >> opening statements are set to get underway in the federal corruption trial of district attorney seth williams. >> eyewitness news reporter trang do is live in center city with a recap of day one. >> good morning, jim, rahel. the jury selection took up the entire day of the trial and the biggest challenge was finding jurors who could serve up to a month. district attorney seth williams spent the entire day in court not as prosecutors but defendant me corruption trial. monday 17 potential jurors from philadelphia and surrounding suburbs whittled down to a jury of twelve. ten women, two men, plus four alternates. all female. they will decide in williams

is guilty of the 29 counts of bribery and corruption charges he is facing. federal prosecutors say williams accepted more than $ $34,000 in bribes in exchange for legal favors. those illegal gifts included tropical vacations, car and leather couch. williams is also accused misusing city vehicles and campaign fundz and stealing $20,000 intended for his mother's nurse rs home care. judge paul diamond emergencyed a speedy timeline and told the jury the trial could last up to 3 to 4 weeks. >> meanwhile, williams continues to draw 175,000 salary as da calls for him to step down. things start up at the courthouse at 9:30. for now we're live outside the federal courthouse, trapping trang, cbs3 eyewitness us in. jim and rahel back to you. >> thank you so much, trang. >> stay with eyewitness news as we follow the trial of philadelphia da seth williams we continue on line

where they were so happy to see him even though he was in very touch condition. but he just pass away a little while ago. >> the university of virginia student was on a five-day tour in wh arrested in january of 2016 accused of stealing propaganda poster. after one hour trial he was sentenced to 15 years hard labor. >> sad development there. the u.s. strongly condemns attack near a london mosque. cellphone shows police arresting darren osborne. the suspect plowed a van into a crowd of worshipers early monday as ramadan services concluded. one died and ten others were hurt. london police say the terror attack is a hate crime. staying overseas new development this morning a an attack in paralysis has taken four family members of a man that crashed his car into a police convoy into custody he had weapons and explosives in the car after setting off explosion an impact he died and no one else was hurts.

france's interior minister is calling this a deliberate terror attack. >> police are investigating an accident in north philadelphia that city he cannily injured a teenager. officers found a crashed motor scooter front and worcester streets 10:00 last night. the driver ran away. two problems away officers found a 14-year-old boy with a gash in his leg. they took him to the hospital and realized something about the scooter. >> that motor scooter turned out to be in stolen status it was stolen two weeks ago from an address three problems from here. >> now the teen is now under arrest. police say his leg wound is so severe his condition is critical. the person in the car that collided with the scooter was not injured. police this morning are looking for the drivers involved in a violent hit and run in burlington township that september a would woman to the hospital. the victim was crossing southbound lanes 130, 9:15 sunday night when one car hit

her and another car dragged her. the car pulled into a nearby car dealership driver and passenger the passenger get out of the car before driving off. >> thank god there was four witnesses that did stop. so we were able to speak to some people. and gather some information. but, the vehicles involved they did not stop, they kept going. >> detectives say they are not calling driver in the video a suspect. just a person of interest. and the victim suffered multiple broken bones and she's in stable condition. >> later today authorities plan to release the name of off-duty police officer killed in a car accident in mercer county. the accident happened around 4:00 yesterday afternoon on the 2700 block of nottingham way in hamilton township. mercer county officials say another car was involved in the accident and no one else was hurt. >> well, philadelphia school reform commission is expected to vote on a new contract today. for public school teachers. last night members ever the philadelphia federation of teachers voted overwhelmingly to okay the deal of over 4,000

looks lovely. >> thank you. >> make sure know that. >> but throughout the course of the day d.c. humidity levels drop off. beautiful shot now. a little haze from pal myra nature cove park. you can make out most of the center city sky line. this is a nice looking day and we wait full departure of the frontal boundary and you have a stray shower here and there and perhaps you flick the windshield wipers cumberland county and not a huge deal. no umbrella as skies clear ou out. the humidity starts to drop off. now the dew points are still technically high. they're into the 70s up and down i 95. higher dew points gets the more humid it feels. wow want this dewpoint to be from 65 or lower for it to actually be a little more comfortable. it's still kind of muggy out there. with that said it starts to get better with every passing hour really and later on today, hey, it's still warm, don't get me wrong.

we're not talking about refreshingly cool air mass but it's refreshingly less humid air mass as the day goes on. stray thunderstorm tomorrow and next few days are looking nice. >> looks like a good beach weekend. that works for me i'll take that good morning everyone filling in for meeshia on traffic and a look at 95 southbound there's no traffic to speak of at 4:46 in the morning. that's a good thing here. same hold true 42 freeway headed to city and this is something that we just spoke of a few minutes ago and something you will have to keep an eye on if you take the schuylkill expressway. 76 eastbound between the blue route and city avenue from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that's part of that larger scale construction and this is how it goes. 12.5 miles interstate 76 from u.s. one to u.s. 202 interchange. that's ugly i'm throwing that away that's sguingting no one wants to deal with that.
