well, the prosecution comes out swing nothing opening statements in the set williams corruption time, we are live with what the expected on day number three in federal court. dramatic newly released video shows moment a police officer shoots and kills and driver during a traffic stop and a case that sparked national outrage. it is officially summer we're off to a pleasant start but how long does that nice weather stick around? well, today is wednesday june 21st i'm jim donovan. i'm jan carabao, rahel solomon is off. lets check today's forecast with katie and traffic with pennsylvania are path pot.

>> happy summer to you as well so far, on the roadways 4:30 pretty quiet but we have a water main break we will tell but. >> that is not good. >> for now things are looking good. some spots that will pick up wet weather today but nothing that i would say, got, that cancel any outdoor plans for. we will start off by taking a look at most current loop of storm scan three very quiet. couple stray cloud here and there but it is still tranquil and will stay that way throughout the day, it turns a little more humid, but with that said, it is still looking like a nice day, for the most part. so, with that said, lets go out to the temperatures. currently in the low zero seven's, down i-95. seventy-one, across south jersey and central delaware as well but it is cooler by comparison into redding, allentown, mount pocono. lower 60's. very comfortable walking out the door this morning. here and perhaps if you didn't have air conditioning on last night you have windows crack opened it felt good, right. take you toward those outlining suburbs, we have a variety pack here where the

sky has cleared out in quakertown, it is 57 degrees. it turns at lee a touch more humid but another day of sun, expected here, and then it will be warm once again, pat, in the upper 80's. >> yesterday was nice, same thing today we will take. that good morning. this is a the look at vine street expressway which sometimes at 4:30, but no delays between i-95 and 76. on the schuylkill expressway, just cleared some construction out of the way between montgomery avenue and girard, so, again, no delays, right here in this area but we have some delays, due to construction, on the pennsylvania turnpike, this one is eastbound near valley forge, left lane is block and then skate down a little bit further east and fort washington eastbound left lane is block here but again no delays in this area on the northeast extension a couple things to look out for, northeast extension northbound pennsylvania mid county tolls right lane block there and staying further north in lansdowne and we have got this

construction on the schuylkill expressway, that starts again at 10:00 a.m. plus this water main break, jan. >> pat, thank you. more on the overnight break in glenside, we just spoke to officials who tell us it should be repaired by lunchtime. this is video just in the news room 12-inch main broke near mount car until avenue and north tyson around 2:00 this morning. scene isn't far from septa's glenside station but break is not effecting regional rail services for now. well, federal corruption trial of the philadelphia district attorney seth williams continues this morning. >> "eyewitness news" reporter trang do is live outside center city courtroom with more on the prosecution's strategy, trang do, good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning, jan and jim. tuesday was first full day of the trial as jury selection picked up with the first day on monday. jurors heard from both side their opening statements and then the prosecution called, its first witt necessary. in opening statements, federal prosecutors paint aid picture

of district tern seth williams as a man who used his position , to broker deals with two local businessmen. resulting in plane tickets, a car, even a sofa. he was expected to return those favors through preferential treatment and a position in the d.a.'s office. on his turn, defense attorney thomas berk said his client made mistakes but they didn't amount to a crime and described this as williams close friend. the prosecution's first witness was kathleen depriest of catholic health services who testified that williams signed paperwork that he would direct his mother's pension payments to pay for her nursing home car but she says instead of making payments williams spent that money on himself. when questioned on "eyewitness news" leaving court tuesday the embattled d.a. continues to deny any wrongdoing. >> did you expenditure mother 's money. >> no way. >> reporter: and the prosecution's first witness was briefly cross examined by the defense, that will

continue, when court starts backup again at 9:30 this morning. for now we are live outside federal courthouse i'm trang do for cbs-3 "eyewitness news" jan and jim back to you. >> frank, thank you. judge who presided over bill cosby's sexual assault trial will deciding whether to identify those jurors they dead lock after a week of deliberations. prosecutors plan to retry cosby, and, the release of the names of the original jurors, could impact jury pool for re trial. both prosecutors and defense attorneys oppose release of the, jurors name. republican karen handle defeated john ossoff in a nationally watched special election for georgia house seat. poles showed handled security just over 52 percent of the votes to defeat ossoff in what is the most expensive house race in the u.s. history. combined, the candidates spent almost 60 million-dollar, on their campaigns, and handle takes over the sixth district seat vacate by health and

human services secretary tom price. and just days after a minnesota police officer was acquitted in the shooting death of philando castille authorities released dash cam video that was shown to the jury during the trial and a warning now, the video you are about to see is disturbing. >> i have to tell you, firearm >> don't reach for it. >> don't pull it out. >> don't pull it out. >> officer yanes fired seven shots at castille during a traffic stop last july and it happened just second after castille told him he had a gun shooting gained national attention because castille's girlfriend live streamed shootings aftermath on facebook, and 18 people were arrested in protests after his acquittal last week. suspect in the explosion at a train station in brussels , belgium has died, hours after he was shot by police. this is video from inside one of brussels busiest train stations after that explosion. belgium authorities say they

stopped a terror attack when they shot the suspect but medics were unable to tend to him for several hours for fear that he could be carrying explosives no one was injured in the explosion, despite the attack, belgium has in the yet raised its terror level. emergency response teams rushed to the bucks county home after police found and stockpile of explosives. bomb squad was called to the home on the 8700 block ofe ton road in on theville. >> police were conducting a mental health check on an elderly man living inside the home there yesterday afternoon that is where authorities found guns, ammunition, and chemical explosives, and neighbors say there is a propane company just yard away from that home. homeowners have been taken into custody while police continue the investigation. unless bucks county an investigation into what caused train cars to come off track, this happened yesterday in sellersville where we're told three of the cars that derailed were carrying butter. three other cars carrying wood also partially came off the track and diesel fuel also leaked, from a refrigeration unit, no one was hurt, it

should take a few days to remove those cars. national weather service officials have confirmed, that monday's line of severe thunderstorms, spawned two tornadoes in our region. one was caught on camera in berks county, the ef0 tornado pack wind of 80 miles an hour. several trees uprooted but there was no serious damage. and, a few -- another tornado touched down monday in southern delaware. weather officials say wind up to 85 miles an hour demolished a storage shed in the trailer in greenwood sussex county. delaware electric cooperative has been hit hard by the storm >> we're fortunate, if this had happened two hours earlier we would have had people injured or people killed, so that is fortunate we can replace buildings, and construction trailers and equipment but we cannot replace people. >> despite the damage the delaware electric cooperative, worked through the night to restore power to about 2,000 homes in sussex and kent counties. update to a hit and run in

burlington township we told but this week. police are looking for a car just like this one a silver 1997 or 98 mazda pro shay. the victim was crossing route 130 at devlin avenue around 9:15 sunday night when she was hit by one car, and then dragged by another. she's in critical condition. surveillance video shows one of the cars pulling into a nearby car dealership, shortly after the incident, the driver , and passenger, switched seats, before taking off. still ahead, a geyser sent in the air, still ahead what caused an explosion at a popular tourist spot. also ahead airline passengers in neck braces, problem in the sky that sent several people in the hospital and record breaking heat, having an effect on flying where the hot weather forced airlines to cancel flights, we airlines to cancel flights, we are back in two daily hair damagen stop before it happens ...with these roses. one is treated with dove.

pipe exploded underground, five people were injured and several cars were damaged there. this happened in the inner harbor area not from from camden yard where an orioles game was about to begin. blast sent mud, chunks of asphalt in the air, injuries are non-life threatening and the causes now under investigation. authorities are blaming strong turbulence after seven people on board a united flight to houston are rushed to the hospital. par medics were called to help passengers get off the flight yesterday afternoon. plane left from panama city and landed at bush airport in houston texas. passengers were taken on gerney annes wheelchairs, one passenger described the frightening scene in the air. >> it was a lot of turbulence. the plane started to move very violently. >> many people were crying. >> people jumped to the ceiling of the plane. >> officials say passengers suffered only minor injuries and all are expect to be okay.

well, it is past few days are any indication first day of summer will be a scorcher for folks in the southwest and california. yesterday's phoenix arizona reached 119 degrees, grounding certain planes that cannot take off, in excessive heat. temperatures in vegas topped out at 117 degrees tying its record high and in california, temperatures in death valley, and palm springs, easily exceeded 120 degrees. the oppressive heat has emergency officials on high alert. >> last number 130 people died due to heat illness and we want to do our part to see that number is reduced greatly this year. >> the triple digit temperatures in california have left roadways and sidewalks, across the state, cracked, buckled. the excessive heat is being blamed for several wild fires including this one near, big bear lake, that has already scorched more than a thousand acres. i thought we were dealing with some heat. >> oh, boy. >> not triple digits. >> i won't complain, katie it

is tough when you see the extreme weather that can go across other parts of our country but is there always seems to be a extreme spot somewhere around the world when it comes to weather on a daily basis. we are not going to see anything that is extreme for next couple days but we do have, a couple little blemish es on our forecast, generally sunshine, throughout the day-to-day as well as tomorrow but then things do start to go a little bit downhill at least. we will take a look at storm scan, handful of cloud still out there, between these two little pockets or lines, of showers, that are working their way through virginias, carolina and threw up state new york. you might see a stray sprinkle in the poconos budd we are looking ahead to a dry start to the day and then not terribly humid either. it will be a touch more so as day goes on as comparison to yesterday but it does get more steamy as we can progresses. lets go through future weather and we should make it toward lunchtime without any problems , mow sun then anything. dew point is still low.

great way to start off a summer day here and start off the season officially. solstice did happen at 12:24 early this morning. so, that is beyond us right now but this is basically the longest day that we will have all year which is over, 16 hours of daylight, and so nice , to have sunshine but here's those thunderstorms from earlier in the show. you might start to fire up as early as, say three or 4:00 in the afternoon and then toward the city more so toward early evening rush, 6:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. but things will be swift. by seven or 8:00 or down toward the shore points. it could come on you quickly if you are out later then most keep an eye to the western sky taking a look at the seven day it will stay hot, guys. it is, no if, and's, but's about this as we cool down, we are still in the 80's at least for every single day of the seven day i have an outdoor wedding on friday, at the shore, and all and all.

>> we had a camera here, gone, 95 at girard. can't do anything about that, we don't own those cameras but this is ben franklin bridge, there are in delays between camden and city of philadelphia and a beautiful sight at 4:46 this morning. this is not such a beautiful sight, a water main break, mount carmel between houston, camera and glenside, alternate is glenside avenue, a 12-inch main that broke. road buckled. you will want to get around that using glenside avenue. schuylkill construction continues, again, today is what happening on monday, tuesday, eastbound now it is westbound side, starting at 10:00 a.m. as part of the overall and repaving that will take up 12 and a half miles of the schuylkill expressway. also, pennsylvania turnpike construction here, early this morning near valley forge, the left lane is block but you are cruise go through there no problems as of yet, northeast extension a couple of places to look at one past mid county tolls in the right lane and

again near lansdale, guys, back over to you. the philadelphia school reform commission has approved a new contract for public school teachers in the city. superintendent william hite says three-year, $202 million contract includes more instruction time for students, health care savings for the districts and taxpayers, pay raises for teachers and changes to how the district operates. in other news this morning the pennsylvania department of health issues 12 medical marijuana permits, those permits allow growing and processing, of medical marijuana. >> today signals start of the next phase of the medical marijuana pick up program. the 12 permits will have six months in which to become operational. growers, processors, may not begin to grow medical marijuana until the department has deemed that they are operational. >> two of the growers and processors are in southeastern pennsylvania, both in berks
