good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters in new york. i'm meg oliver in for anne-marie green. at least four republican senators say the gop senate bill to replace obamacare doesn't go far enough as is, and they will vote against it. majority leader mitch mcconnell says he's open to discussion, but with no democrats to support the measure, the defection of just three republican senators would sink the legislation. weijia jiang is in washington with the details. weijia, good morning. >> good morning, meg. those conservative holdouts say they're also open to negotiation. you're right. the current plan is not a true repeal of the obamacare. he says he's very supportive of the senate version, but, of course, he doesn't get a vote. >> health care's a very difficult situation. >> in an interview with "fox & friends" president trump

addressed the four conservative republican senators with their refausal to get on plan and replace and repeal obamacare. >> they're friends of mine. we'll get there. i have to see. >> it eliminates obamacare's insurance mandates and its new taxes on the wealthy, but it retains a decent amount of obamacare tax credit to lower americans' insurance. with every democrat expected to vote no, republicans can only afford to lose two votes to pass the bill. >> we want the bill to look more like a repeal. >> the affordable care act was president obama's crowning achievement. he wrote a message on facebook urging republicans to preserve it. he wrote in part, quote, the senate bill is not a health care bill. it's a massive transfer of wealth from poor families to the richest people in the world, a

sentiment echoed by the democrats. >> what's a at. >>referee: success the senate will turn back the clock. >> senate majority leader mitch mcconnell hoped to vote on its next week after the congressional office releases its analysis on how much the plan it could cost and how many people could potentially lose coverage. well, that cbo score is expected to be released early next week, and governors in several states from both parties are also paying close attention. meg, they are worried that the senate version would end additional federal funding for medicaid within the next seven years. >> weijia jiang in washington for us. thank you. during his interview on fox news, president trump also discussed the justice department's investigation into possible ties between his campaign in russia. he cast the relationship between special counsel robert mueller and former fbi director james

it was in response to the committee where viis and democrats say they want an official statement, not a tweet. juliana goldman, cbs news, white house. the remnants of tropical storm cindy, now a tropical depression, continued to produce heavy rains as it moves through the southeast into the ohio valley. this morning flash flood warnings or advisories are posed from louisiana to pennsylvania. as it came ashore yesterday morning cindy spawned flood-producing rain and several tornados. one was injured when a tornado touched down near birmingham, alabama. a fast food store and liquor store were damaged. up to ten inches of rain were dumped on parts of the gulf coast. one death, a boy hit by a log is blamed for the storm. the american held in north

korea who died shortly after hoe was released was mourned by family and friends in his hometown in ohio. otto warmbier was buried yesterday. reagan messagegy reports. >> reporter: bagpipes played as he was carried in cincinnati where he spoke at graduation four years ago. many close friends were among the 2,500 mourners saying good-bye. >> he really, really just cared about everybody at the school. >> reporter: inside the service, warmbier's family displayed some of otoe's belongings including his passport and the jacket he wore during his trial in north korea. >> north korea needs to be held accountable for what happened to otto warmbier. >> reporter: warmbier traveled with a tour group in 2016. he was accused of trying to steal a prop began ta banner in a hotel and was sentenced to 15

our top story this morning, senate republicans unveil their plan to replace the affordable care act, but at least four republican senators say they won't vote for the plan as is. the bill cuts medicaid, ends the so-called individual mandate, and ends tax increases on high earners. if three republican senators vote against the bill, it will not pass. as summer heats up, surfers in malibu are beating the crowds and hitting the waves at night. carter evans went back to the beach to check out the scene. >> reporter: when the sun sets over malibu, there's a peaceful calm to the breaking surf, but when the moon is full -- >> whoo. >> reporter: -- a different breed of suffers hit the water. >> when you take off, you can
