be a powerful force. nature valley muggy morning in the city and we are watching out for tropical moisture and to kick off the weekend. and the question this noon is how much rain can we expect , good afternoon i'm rahel solomon. i'm jan carabao, jim donovan's off this noon. lets get over to meteorologist matt peterson. not the best start to the day out there i got to say. >> it was muggy, warm, then we had showers, coming through right around rush hour. not an ideal start to the day honest specially a friday when we are getting ready to get in the weekend.

we want to start day off with nice weather, some sunshine, unfortunately not case. the best news is most of the showers we have had so far this morning that round is on the way out. we will continue to see, some cloudy skies, it will be muggy , hopefully get a few breaks of sun here and there but for the next couple of hours rain activity is done. storm scan three is showing you those showers breaking up as they continue to move east and off the coast line but we will be watching for another line of showers, thunderstorms to fire autopsy long the cold front that will come in late tonight and early tomorrow morning. temperatures were up in the higher 70's for a time, the rain did cool us down but where rain has moved out and moved out sooner then in the philadelphia area like near lancaster where we are back in the lower 80's to that 75 we have right now in philadelphia expect that to climb and pretty quickly as we go through afternoon. dew points are still high, they have been in the zero seven's all morning long, expect another muggy afternoon , for us, with again, dew points well in the 70's,

heat index values feeling near 90. eyewitness weather day planner for rest of the afternoon by noon time we are up to 81. spotty showers and thunderstorm developing after 3:00 o'clock hour we will top ought at 87 degrees this afternoon and we are watching remnants of the tropical storm cindy as it moves in the area but when does it clear out. that is what we want to know and we will that have in just a bit. >> thanks, matt. this morning defense attorneys cross examined a key witness who prosecutors say provided d.a. seth williams with gifts and in exchange for legal favors. prosecutors say that williams accepted an all expenses paid trip to the dominican republic from businessman muhammad ali. and as an exchange, he promised ali help getting through customs at philadelphia international airport. defense lawyers tried to dis credit ali claiming he is testifying for the government for his own benefit. three more witnesses are set to take the stand this afternoon, williams entered not guilty plea to bribery and corruption charges. a 24 hour protest against g.o.p. health care proposal to

repeal and replace affordable care act continues in olde city. >> the fight comes home to us, to back to our communities. >> philadelphia city council woman helen gym joined protesters this morning. rally began at 3:00 p.m. thursday and will continue until 3:00 p.m. today, happening outside office of senator patrick toomey, one of the 13 senate republicans who helped craft the bill. colon cancer survivor is protesting for the full 24 hours. >> there are millions of people across this country who are depending upon the affordable care act and medicaid expansion that have, you know, access to their health care need and that is a matter of life and death. >> it vice personal for me and personal for every person in america who is taking a look at it and looking at hear family and wondering what will this america look like if 13 people can sit there and wipe out health care for 23 million people. >> day long protest has attracted national attention, group from connecticut is also traveling to join

demonstrators at 1:30. an hour from now. battle continues in the halls of congress some senate republicans have already voic ed their concerns about the proposed health care plan. correspondent seth lemon explains why some g.o.p. lawmakers are withholding their vote, for now. >> we cannot support current bill. >> reporter: kentucky senator rand paul and three other g.o.p. senators say newly released senate health care plan is dead on arrival unless they see major changes. the four are sticking together to get changes such as fewer government subsidies designed to make health insurance more affordable. >> as we estimate the cost of the subsidies to buy insurance , we believe that they may exceed or at least equal obama care. >> reporter: president donald trump will help lead talks to get reluctant republicans on board. >> they are four good guys and four friend of mine and i think we will get there. we will to have see. >> reporter: problems facing g.o.p. leaders is any change that he is move the bill further to the right have potential to alienate moderate

language with the under cover officer, the setup was part of the internet crimes against children task force, and delaware county district attorney jack whalen says parents need to step up. >> we have to say you have to try to be vigilant, discussions with your children , we have to make sure that they are not interacting on the internet with individual that they don't know. >> officials say mckinlay was a seasonal employee at center city macy's, "eyewitness news" reached out to the company to see what position he held there. we are still waiting to hear back. meantime vineland police say owner of cool breeze ice cream parlor object west land is is facing charges. larry bostic was arrested after detectives found a small camera placed in the parlor's changing room. that cameras led to a monitor in the owner's office where victims were all identified as juvenile females. bostic is facing multiple child endangerment and invasion of privacy charges. overseas now british

police are considering manslaughter charges following deadly high rise apartment building fire, last week. investigators revealed a faulty appliance started the blaze, and both buildings insulation and tiles, failed, safety tests. correspondent gavin ramjor is in london with the very latest >> reporter: investigators say that a faulty fridge/freezer spark the london apartment fire that killed at lee 79 people and they have ordered an immediate examination of the model. >> the fire was not started deliberately. we know that the they have never been subject to a public report before. >> reporter: investigators also say that the building insulation and tiles, didn't pass safety tests, for combustibility but they are looking into 11 other buildings clad with the same materials. the siding is known as aluminum composite material or acm that encasees a polyethylene core that is flammable. five tests have shown extreme heat can melt side ago

in this building exposing bottles still neatly stacked on the shelves. four people were injured when one driver narrowly escape danger. >> i just covered my head and started praying. when i lifted my head up i realized that it had passed over it was a wood stake through my windshield. >> now the national weather services mates that roughly 12 n in some spots along the gulf coast since tuesday. and back here at home a jackknife tractor trailer caused real traffic headaches for much of the morning russia long the new jersey turnpike, pennsylvania extension. chopper three over the scene in burlington township, burlington county, that fedex tractor trailer crashed around 5:30 this morning blocking all lanes on the westbound side, there were no serious injuries reported, the drivers did have to use the shoulder to get around the crash, turnpike extension reopened about three hours later. and some good news if you like to hop from town to town down the shore. "eyewitness news" has learned that townsend inlet bridge is set to reopen. it connects sea isle city to

avalon. bridge has been closed since early april for emergency repairs after officials found a crack in the support beams. and perhaps some more good news our summer fest celebration continues today down the shore in sea isle city, starting at 5:00 ukee washington will be there with lauren casey anal sandra hoff, they will be showing off all of the things that draw people to sea isle year after year and including the sea isle city food truck festival. that is later today right here on cbs-3. welcoming the future, 76ers are introducing their number one draft pick. >> yes, markelle fultz, we have heard his name so much today, he joins 25th pick andre and the second round pick and you got all those names to meet the media today. all of the young men say they are so excited and ready to bring a winning product to philadelphia. >> for me, it is exciting, really, just to have this dream as a kid, growing up, and to know it came true.

back on "eyewitness news" an attorney representing ferguson, missouri says family of michael brown has received $1.5 million from the city's insurance company. >> the amount was disclosed following an open record request from the associated

press. brown, a black unarmed man, was fatally shot by white officer darren wilson in august 2014. wilson was cleared of wrongdoing and resigned two months later. brown family sued family, saying hostile to black residents in that community. today we are hearing from the victims who survived a fit of road rage in southern california highway. >> this all started with a motorcyclist hitting the road earlier this week, and the driver of a car swerved, and who control and hit a barrier, and before escalade pick pick up causing to it pick up. seven five-year old driver from the truck was on his way to work when it happened. >> when i felt impact, and the truck spun out, beside me, and i started to roll, i saw nothing but asphalt, and, then coming to rest. >> authorities are still trying to put together a time line of events, that led to the crash. well, look at this an unlikely hero in massachusetts , young boy is lucky to be alive after a 16- foot fall on to concrete

round of it is rolling through the delaware valley as we get later tonight and into our saturday. cold front and remnants of the tropical storm cindy, eventually work their way through the region, so storm scan three right off the bat you can see this system. it is huge. it extend from the great lakes down into the south east and right here, in northwestern tennessee that is the remnants , again of cindy, still a little bit of spin actually within the area some precipitation wrapping around, again now into kentucky. this is a big system frontal system that will move to the east and bringing witt shower and thunderstorm activity. good news only for the first half of our saturday and then really nice conditions taking over, as we get toward the end of the saturday and especially the end of the weekend. we will zoom in closer to home cloud cover is out there but trying to break up a little bit toward lancaster area, and central, pennsylvania and lancaster's temperature is starting to rise quickly. that is good news for us here

because our temperatures while they are warm, sticky they could get hotter through the day. not too much happening now, on the beach right now we have the cloud cover out there, in rehoboth but folks enjoying their time after rain moved through earlier this morning and now looking pretty calm and comfortable, along the shore points. future weather shows us a few spotty showers not completely ruled out as we go through the afternoon. by 4:00 we are rounding out some thunderstorm activity out into western counties. we are looking for lancaster berks county getting showers and thunderstorms as early as 4:00 o'clock. as we get to five, six, or 7:00 still a spotty shower and spotty thunderstorm activity. shore points dry. philadelphia for most parties relatively dry but heading out this evening and outdoor plans or just heading out to dinner take umbrella with you. better chance around 10 or 11:00 another round of shower, thunderstorm, you can move through and we will start tomorrow morning to see our cold front coming in at 7:00 in the morning waking up to showers and thunderstorms just around philadelphia and

then by 8:00 those are in the central and south jersey clearing coastline and then again in the early afternoon leading to plenty of sunshine for us. just recapping everything, that spotty thunderstorm activity, cold front clears us out and then that leaves with us a sensational sunday. as i said, temperatures warming quickly where rain ended earlier out to 82 in lancaster. seventy-five in philadelphia. seventy-seven in trenton. it is muggy, soupy, steamy, dew pointing are in the 70's and they will remain there through the rest of the afternoon. so our high temperature is 87 but with that high humidity feeling a little bit worse, near 90 what it will feel like with pop up thunderstorm chances. overnight tonight, spotty showers, spotty thunderstorms, 74 for the overnight low and it will stay muggy. getting a look at that eye bitterness weather forecast 89 . showers, thunderstorms in the morning, clearing out nicely as we go in the afternoon. we will look for a decent amount of sunshine on our saturday afternoon. if you have outdoor plans tomorrow be prepared for warm,
