i'm anne-marie green. well, president trump met with senate republicans to try to work out deal to salvage the gop's health care overhaul bill. before the meeting the president conceded that it may not get done. growing resistance among senate republicans forced party leaders to powe post a vote on the bill until after the july recess. seth is in washington. good morning. >> good morning, anne-marie. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell decided to call off the vote on the planned repeal and replace of obamacare but the lack of support even among the ranks of the gop is an indication it still needs work if it has any chance of passing. >> i think we've got a really good chance of getting there. it will take us just a little bit longer. >> reporter: senate majority mitch mcconnell optimistic that the senate bill would pass although earlier he said there

would not be a vote before the fourth of july. >> we have not reached a vote but we're still trying to get 50 people. >> president trump met with senators. >> we really have no choice but to solve this situation. obamacare's a total disaster. it's melting down as we speak. >> another concern. the congressional budget office reports and project 2/2 million more americans would find themselves uninsured by 2026. among the biggest sticking points, reducing medicaid and planned partihood. >> it's hard for me to see how the president and his team are going to come up with a bill that can gather enough republican support. >> if our republican colleagues stick to this republican-based bill we're going to fight it tooth and nail and have a good

chance of repealing it. >> it could be re-evaluated by the ceo, a process that could take several weeks. mike pence said it would be repeal and replaced by the end of the summer. anne-marie? >> seth lemon in washington. thank you so much, seth. ahead on "cbs this morning," kentucky senator rand paul one of those opposing the bill. he says it doesn't go far enough to repeal the affordable health care act. we'll hear from him. this morning it's still not clear who's behind the crippling cyber attack from europe through the united states but the rand dom hack is similar to that in may. the virus hit government offices, banks, hospitalings, and even the closed monitoring station at the chernobyl power plant, the site of the world's worst nuclear disaster.

>> reporter: the malware crippled across ukraine, europe, most of the u.s., disabling a vast range of automated systems in banks, airport, construction company, a major law firm and even grocery stores where customers were left with no way to pay. corporate titans were hit, too, including new jersey-based merck pharmaceuticals, the danish shipping company, moll nar mask and the russian oil giant raz nav. who's done it? carl radberger from cyber security. what do you expect? >> the suspicions are this is a criminal motive. why? because they're asking for money. >> $300 to be exact. here's what an infected user tells the user to do. pay up in the crypto currency bitcoin to get your files back. cyber attacks say the experts are here to stay, especially

ransomware and they could get much more center. >> you can imagine a future where maybe conceptually they're able to infect a defibrillator or insulin pacemaker or automobile or something like this, which is the ultimate ransom. >> that's a terrifying prospect. >> and i think it's not in the unfor castable future. >> the experts also say there was a software fix available to protect against it, but not everybody has been rigorously keeping their i.t. security up to date. this latest attack should be a wakeup call. elizabeth palmer, cbs news, london. the trump administration hopes to put a limited version of the travel ban into place tomorrow. the supreme court partially reinstated the ban monday. the u.s. can block travelers from six mostly muslim countries

unless they have a bona fide relationship in the united states. president trump's former campaign chairman paul manafort register as a foreign agent. in a justice department filing manafort said his firm received $17 million for consulting work done for a pro russian political party in ukraine. he coached members on how to interact with u.s. officials. the work was done from 2012 to 2014. reality winner, the defense contractor accused of leaking a top secret report, appeared in a georgia taupe for a second time. winner has meade not guilty to the charge of transmission of national defense information. she was arrested earlier this month and an october 23rd trial date has been set. two former chicago police officer and one current officer have been indicted on charges that they lied about events in the shooting death of laquan mcdonald. if convicted they could face

years in prison. an arraignment is set for july 10th. chris martinez has details. >> reporter: special prosecutor patricia brown holmes announced felony charges against three officers present at the scene when 17-year-old laquan mcdonald was shot and killed back in october of 2014. >> officers joseph walsh and thomas gaffney and detective david march have been charged with obstruction of justice, official misconduct, and conspiracy to dmit both of these offenses. >> reporter: the officers claim the teenager aggressively swung a knife at officers which differs from the dash cam video. the defendants are accused of lying about what happened in order to protect fellow officer jason van dyke from prosecution. >> the indictment alleges that they failed to interview specific witnesses, that they lied or provided false or misleading or mischaracterized

information on official forms. >> reporter: van dyke shot the teenager 16 times including while mcdonald was down on the ground. van dyke's attorney said the officer feared for his life. he has pleaded not guilty in a separate murder case. the clause police department says it's cooperating with the investigation. the officers union has not commented. the defendants are expected to appear at arraignment on july 10th. chris martinez, cbs news. this morning the national weather service has issued a warning about an increased risk of fire danger in utah, colorado, nevada, and california. east of los angeles a fire that started just yesterday has burned through 900 acres of land and triggered an evacuation order for dozens of homes in the town of highland. and a wildfire in northern arizona has burned more than seven square miles. some 1,400 residents in the town of mayor were forced to

evacuation. officials say an improper piece of rail caused the subway train to derail. the subway dumped the tracks as it was entered the manhattan station yesterday. hundreds of passengers had to be evacuated through dark subway tunn tunnels. overseas political tensions in venezuela ratcheted up. a police helicopter fired grenades on venezuela supreme court and interior ministry tuesday one of the grenades failed to explode. there are no reported injury. president maduro said the attack was aimed at ousting him from power. the country has been paralyzed by deadly antigovernment protests. >> coming up on the "morning news," protecting young gymnasts. changes are announced in the wake of a sexual abuse scandal. and fake news. a "time" magazine cover featuring mr. trump not what it seems. this is the "cbs morning news."

a bit of an embarrassing moment for an ohio sheriff's deputy recorded on his very own dash cam. his cruiser rolled away from a traffic stop near dayton. he actually ran back, stopped the car before he hit anything, and the driver he pulled over, he waited patiently for the deputy to return. changes are announced at usa gymnastics, and the president's latest fake news scandal. those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand. the "washington post" discovered that a "time" magazine cover displayed at five of donald trump's golf resorts are fake. his picture filled the cover in 2009. "time" had no issue that morning. they said it is phony and the trump organization has been asked to take them down. "the new york times" says

book now. morning. it's still unclear who's behind a global cyber attack that paralyzed computers from ukraine to the united states. ukraine and russia were hardest hit by the ransom ware. two u.s. hospitals in pennsylvania and ohio were also hit. experts say the attack resembled last month's attack that used a virus originally created by the nsa. and president trump admits the senate republican health care overhaul may not pass. he met with gop senators at the white house yesterday to try and forge an agreement. a procedural vote on the legislation expected kwled had to be delayed until after the july 4th recess because of growing opposition. at the white house, tensions between the administration and the news media are growing.
