"eyewitness news" reporter david oh, live in front of the state house with an update. good afternoon, anita. >> good afternoon, rahel, well there is battle mostly boiles down to disagreement over governor chris christie's proposal to overhaul the state's largest health insurance provider, allowing the state's access to horizon blue cross blue shield reserve funds in order to funds certain programs like addiction treatment. the long their this government shutdown drags on, up to 35,000 state workers, could be affected, and placed on furlough. right now innocent-essential services such as the dmv are shutdown, on our way here to new jersey, we also saw several signs along the highway reminding people that state beaches and parks will also be closed. now, senate president steve sweeney expected to meet here with horizon ceo and other lawmakers afternoon, he said it is time all sides come together for a compromise. >> egos have to go out the door now, no lines in the sand. we have to have conversations,

budget by july 1st, 9 failed, putting services at risk, state every oil ill know, maine became par shutdown over the weekend. employees already out of work following tax impasse between republican governor and democrats in the legislature. but perhaps good news, delaware no longer on that list, the state has new budget after missing saturday's deadline, governor john carney signed the $4.1 billion spending plan after it cleared the legislature. make up shortfall, real estate tax will go up to 4%. the budget also includes higher taxes for alcohol and tobacco products. >> switching now to the weather, today the sun is out, air feels pretty good, too, but may be some natural fireworks headed our way, just in time for the holiday. first look at the forecast, with meteorologist, katie fehlinger on the skydeck, looks beautiful behind you but it is hot? >> it is very warm. the dew point, in other words, what makes it feel humid, is really not all that high. yes, you're right, it is warm, but i'm not sweating, not so

things up, 93 the call for the afternoon high in the city just watch for the spotty shower, if not rumble every thunder, at some point into the afternoon or evening. now, by tuesday, again, that same front is still close enough by it has to allow a shower if not thunderstorm, so little later in the show i'll track this for you, give you idea of the window of timing for any of the stores, look ahead to what rahel promises to actually be an even more unsettled pattern. full details in my full forecast later. >> katie, see you then, thank you. man who police say shot and killed a woman in a suspected case of road rage in chester county is behind bars this noon. twenty-eight year old david desper turned himself in yesterday in connection with the shooting death of 18 year old bo ankle a roberson, charged with first degree murder, investigators say desper shot roberson after they tried to merge into the same lane on route 100 in west goshen last wednesday, vest per being head without bail. and, developing out of ocean county this afternoon, authority in lakewood say a holocaust memorial at the

lakewood was defaced with anti-derogatory banner. new jersey attorney general's office is offering a $10,000 reward now for any information leading to arrest. philadelphia police hope you can help them track down an arm robbery suspect caught on camera. take a look, the suspect in this surveillance video walked into a shop on the 2400 block of messick street last thursday, at around 11:15 a.m. investigators say the suspect threatened 20 year old female clerk with a knife and got away with cash. if you recognize the suspect, please contact police right away. overseas now, german authorities say 18 people are dead after a bus crashed into another vehicle then burst into flames. this happened early this morning, on busy highway in southern germany. police say the bus was caring a group of senior citizens when it rearended a trailer truck, and then camen guffed in flames. thirty others were injured in that fiery crash. two of the injured remain in critical condition.

>> video and pictures on social media are documenting some frightening moments for passengers on plane at denver international airport. fifty-nine passengers, four crew members, escaped without injury from the united express. fire broke out on the jet's left engine, after landing yesterday afternoon. firefighters moved fast and the passengers were then whisk to safety. >> passengers were taken on bus after the con course, part whatever we do, we assist the airlines in getting their passengers back to a safe place. >> firefighters used foam to control the fire, and authority are now investigating the cause of the fire. to the nation's capitol, president trump busy on twitter posting series of tweets. the post that has a lot of people talking today is the video of president trump bashing cnn's literally. yesterday the president tweeted this doctored wrestle mania video of himself knocking out a man whose head is replaced by cnn logo. controversial post has now sparked outrage, but some are defending it. >> i think that no one would perceived that as a threat.

go, bottom line here, stay hydrated. in the city we mentioned this earlier in the show, i think you'll easily hit the 90s here today. not too humid everywhere, anyway, so that's at least, exactly, makes it feel a heck of a lot more comfortable. regardless still find the potential for wet weather. talk about that earlier in the show, as well as into the fourth of july itself. that will will come in the form of very scattered showers, storms, from that frontal boundery we mentioned. tough to pick it out on the radar right now let alone the satelite. but notice, if you look closely, north central pa, that little pocket of clouds, just part of the front we're talking b that's drops in from the north. it will drop to our south later tonight. but then get kind of hung up, across mid-atlantic. that's why we still have potential for shower or thunderstorm in our forecast tomorrow. i don't think you're talking about widespread anything out of. >> this let's look at future weather. i always like to use this as a guide specially when this close to the event. it tends to be a really good guide, as the timing, not necessarily for everyone, but

give you idea, okay, even just in the next two hours, things may ignite across the poconos, catching up for the early afternoon, watch for shower or thunderstorm there. there could be locally heavy thunderstorm that ignite specially north of the city, but notice, even still get in on quick shower at some 5:00, 6:00 this evening. it should bypass the southern jersey coastline, so i think you will be okay at the actual shore line. but that said, again, you'll want to keep your ears perk for thunder with this fires up. then, into tomorrow, we should be pretty quiet for the first part of the day. toward the afternoon, in the, again, all super scattered, but something may begin to pop on the radar into the afternoon or toward evening. now, by the time the fireworks are going off across much of the region, we should really just see some lingering clouds out there. shouldn't affect all that much, but with the frontal boundery, so close by, we've got to allow for shower or storm. not enough that you would have to worry about cancelling plans, though. let's look at the dew points, talk about them, remember, 56 is about the benchmark for where it starts to feel kind

of steamy. you have a little bit of a variety pack going on, actually still feels granted warm but comfortable in the city of philadelphia. certainly a lot steamier in wildwood, at 69 on the dew point temperature. again, starting to feel kind of steamy depending on location, all-in-all nice afternoon. certainly outside palmyra cove nature park this will be awesome view for us, as weather geeks watch all of the fireworks go off here over the delaware river in the next night or two. beach patrol headquarters starting to see some activity, picking you have up here at least one of the beaches still open. people certainly taking advantage of that. meanwhile take you for the rest of the afternoon here at the shore, sunny, hot, might crack 90 at the shore, and i am getting the rap. i want to jump you right ahead here to the seven day forecast, take a look, today's the hottest for sure. but by the week's ends we talk about more of unsettled pattern, bigger more potent systems comes along, bridges in more widespread showers for thursday and friday. >> katie, thank you, we'll enjoy what we've got now. well today we are above and

beyond the call of duty. meisha's here with today's love it. >> in one way or another it will hit us all watch do we do when we comes across something that needs immediate a ten. who one officers showing us how it is done going above and beyond the call every duty, empathy, love, ethics. >> two years ago a patrolman from oklahoma jody thompson called to child abuse case, one of the worse they'd seen. eight year old john was found in a barrel and starved at the hands every his biological parents. after responding to the call, thompson took the injured boy to the hospital. and waited by his side, day after day, as he recovered from his injuries, in the intensive care unit. but thompson never stopped caring for the young boy. in fact, that would become just the beginning for jody and his family, as just recently the thompson's received the ultimate gift. the gift of legal adoption. >> when i seen him in that

house, i knew. >> john now gratefully calls him dad. >> he's helpful to me, thompson's family was already growing at that time, but, as fate would have it, ben learned that john's biological mother gave birth to a baby girl, in jail, so, what did the thompson's do? well, they adopted her, as well. >> we pick her up at the hospital. she was barely 24 hours old and brought her home. >> an officer near to the thompson's says many might say they would do the very same things in that situation, but to actually go through with it, that's the true measure of character and heart. he said his son john, in fact, john is a a student. and is now in the gifted and talented program. >> wow. >> so wonderful. >> isn't that cool? i mean, you talk about going above and beyond the call of duty. >> truly. >> that takes the cake, sets the bar super hi, not only for
