>> live from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". developing now at noon we are learning new information about a nine month old baby found with hypo determine mick in her leg. police found the baby unresponsive at herman young home yesterday. had to administer narcan. the child was taken to chestnut hill hospital where police say doctors treated her for an accidental overdose. she's now in stable condition. the child's father steven welsh facing charges in connection with the incident including aggravated and simple assault. child endangerment and reckless

endangerment. also this noon, police give update on the discover receive infant sized casket with he human organs but no excel toll remains. >> i'm rahel solomon. >> i'm jim donovan let's get to "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos joins us live from northwest detectives where investigators just wrapped up a new conference. greg washington have you learned? >> reporter: very bizarre story here, jim and rahel but police have shed some new light on exactly what happened here just a few days ago. saying that casket that was dumped here in north philadelphia was actually dumped by an employee at a new jersey funeral home this afternoon the big question is, why this employee did exactly that. let's give you a timeline. this casket with baby's organs was discovered 3,000 block of clearfield street in north philly monday night. and today we've learned it contained the remains avenue three to four month old baby buried in south jersey last thursday. police say after that baby died an autopsy was performed and the organs placed with the body.

according to northwest detectives shortly before the baby's funeral workers at that new jersey funeral home noticed the casket latch was broken. so they transferred the body into a new casket but the organs from the autopsy those were left inside the broken one. the baby's body though in that new casket was buried in new jersey. captain jones won't release the name of the funeral home but he says for some reason an employee there drove that broken casket to north philly and dumped it on the street. that person claimed he didn't realize the baby's organs were still inside. right now investigators are determining what if any charges the employee or others at that funeral home could face. >> from what i understand the family is quiet upset. and you know we've been forth right with them, and again we told them we would keep them a breast of our progress with the investigation. >> reporter: really just a strange story unfolding here in north philadelphia. once again philadelphia police not naming the funeral home.

not naming the family. not naming that employee who dumped this casket. we'll continue to work this story, of course, and bring you latest later on tonight at 5:00 and 6:00. for now we're live in north philadelphia. greg argos cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> lots of unanswered questions. thank you greg. in other news this noon septa police officer being recognized for going above and beyond the call of duty. he helped rescue a man trapped inside a burning car and it was all caught on dash cam and body cam video. sergeant mark pasquale came across the car that crashed into the back of a trash truck on north delaware of a early friday morning. the sergeant says the legs of the unconscious driver were stuck under the dash he knew he had to act fast. the sergeant and good samaritan sprung into action. >> if it was just me my by self i don't know if i would have got him out. so obviously very grateful for bystanders. >> the sergeant said one passerby stopped to help while the trash truck driver called

911. turning now to weather some areas this noon are catching a break from the rain but there's a chance of showers and storms pretty much all day today. meteorologist katie fehlinger tracking the wet weather from the cbs3 weather sent. what's the latest. >> we have wet weather out there. it looks as though you'll be getting hit with nothing at the given hour or a little bit of light rain or even pockets of steady rain. just a bit of a variety pack going on right now. disturbance is the culprit for it. actually start it off with just a snapshot view as we make tri-state sweep over storm sca m scan3. what you'll notice the steady yesterday rain is falling at least in our local area across southern new jersey and parts of sussex county in delaware. now this is where we've seen the brunt thus far down through the southern delmarva peninsula terms of our local area any way. heavy thunderstorms you'll notice, too, southern delmarva peninsula down through southwestern most or southeastern in fact most maryland really heavy thunderstorms having rumbled

through that. this has been disturbance responsible for multiple inches worth of accumulating rain especially across places like prince william county out near the dc/baltimore area. so we're right on the cusp that means some of you are going to get hit with locally steady heavy rain and some of you are going to get showers out of this. currently temperatures are in the mid 70s. they won't climb much higher than this and again i'd keep the um kell bra handy the rest of the day. more rain in the forecast i'll let you know when that is here a little later on. >> keeping the umbrella handy. thank you katie. president trump is making headlines on global issues as he travels overseas. he's in germany at this hour but the growing crisis with north korea, well, that's taking center stage. correspondent reports from the white house. >> reporter: president trump has arrived in germany in preparation for the g20 submit which kicks off tomorrow. one key topic will be north korea's nuclear program. war saw thursday the president was vague about how the us would respond. >> i don't like to talk about what i have planned but i have

pretty severe things that we're thinking about. >> reporter: president trump will hold his first face to face meeting with russian president vladimir putin tomorrow. this morning, he delivered perhaps his strongest criticism of russian activities since taking office. >> we you were russia to cease its destabilizing activityies in ukraine and elsewhere and its support for hostile regimes including syria and iran. >> reporter: the white house confirms the president will talk about syria and isis during the meeting tomorrow. but it's unlikely he will bring up russian meddling in the presidential election. the president has struggled to articulate his thoughts on retter russia did or did not interfere. >> i think it was russia but i think it was probably other people and/or countries and i see nothing wrong with that statement. nobody really nose. nobody really knows for sure. >> reporter: mr. trump blames president obama for failing to

take action during the election. cbs3 "eyewitness news". health majority whip steve ask a keys lack in the intensive care a washington hospital. doctors are treating him for an infection. as of last night he was listed in serious condition. officials do promise update later today. scalise you may remember was shot last month when a gunman opened fire at a gop practice for congressional baseball game. that gunman was shot and killed by law enforcement. in other news this noon police are investigating another shooting in germantown as the community prepares for a meeting to night to address gun violen violence. a 30-year-old man remains in critical condition after police say he was shot multiple times overnight. this happen on the 5,000 block of germantown avenue just after 12:30 this morning. police have not released a motive for the shooting and so far no arrests have been made. evacuation orders have been lifted for most residents after a high rise fire in center city. chopper three was over that 13th story apartment building at 13th and walnut just after 7:00 last night. firefighters say the fire erupted on the second floor but

peak two fire burning dangerously close to the breck ken rigid ski rei sore. vac weighing orders are in place for residents a few miles from the base of the resort. for now people closer to the base are safe. i used to woman work in colorado a lot of people on facebook and twitter are talking about. hopefully they get that contained soon. >> no kidding much thoughts to them. for us, it's all about the wet weather that's out there right now. you know it looks right now as though just to our south they're bearing the brunt of this. d.c., baltimore area southern parts of maryland are really getting hit the hardest with this. we're just right on the cusp of this frontal boundary and it's a front that really more than anything disturbance moving along a frontal boundary that's again kind of just passing us by to the south while we are certainly getting hit with rain and some of you may end up getting doused by this, i would say that right now it's look to go me like the further south you reside the further south you plan to travel the more likely it is that you end up with a pocket of locally soaking rain. i still think we'd all do well to walk out the door with umbrella. however, even if it's just spitting at you it's enough you

may want to have umbrella handy. let's get you out there show you the deal and give you a sense how things will progress with time here because i promised you just before the break gorgeous weekend. how do we get there? we need to get this out here first much it's with us now until tomorrow. several disturbances working their way through. at the moment on storm scan heaviest rain confine right there right on the tail end of this three-hour loop. very heavy rain and thunderstorms rumbled across the chesapeake bay now on land and some of that lifted into southern new jersey. we've also got this batch of rain moving its way right along 78 out towards 81. i should say 76pa turnpike there. but regardless, you're going to find pocks and scattered fashion of these showers and storms. i have not seen a lot of actual fund thunderstorm imbedded locally that's primarily happened to our south. we still have to allow for that however. thankful our severe weather threat is low. i'd say this rain is really going to be the issue for the rest of the day. still quite unsettled off to the west. whole thing needs to get out of here.

it will with time through the day tomorrow. by the time we hit the weekend, it looks so much better. we'll get to that in the seven day let's give you these bullet points scattered showers imbedded storms some of the rain heavy at times leading potentially to localized mooing and i think especially delaware southern new jersey that's your best chance to see that for the rest of the day. 92 tomorrow anyone's fair game. now tropical depression number four as we shift gears take look at the tropics has since developed. rye now it is no not apparent ts would be the ingredients necessary to turn into an actual named storms. things can change on us certainly but it look like this may maintain depression status before it would fizzle away. if it does achieve a name, it would be don. that's the next name on the list for us. meanwhile let's bring you back state side. dew points are definitely climbing even in mount pocono but you're still relatively dry. when it comes to air mass the further south you go that you're in the 70s on dew points. that's incredibly humid air and i walk out for a coffee run earlier on today i had lotted to
