festival and let me tell you it is beautiful here in berks county. within 15 minutes of walking through the front gates here on the fair ground let me tell what you difficult within 15 minutes i walked through a hey maze, pet a mule, plenty of food here, had something to eat and got invited to participate later tonight in a ho down. we have all that and then so, for you throughout our broadcast, there is a lot going on here, at the fair groundness kutztown but there is a lot going on in philadelphia and around the world, so jessica, now throw it back to you in the studio with that part of the coverage >> we will check with you in a little bit but we will begin with a major development on the international stage tonight. the united states and russia reached an agreement on the cease-fire in southwest syria. word of the sees fire came as president trump held his first meeting with russian president , vladamire putin, at the g20 summit in hamburg germany. although details about at agreement and how it will be implemented are not available just yet, cease-fire is set to

take effect, sunday at noon, damascus time. according to secretary of state rex tillerson the president opened his meeting with putin by raising concerns , about moscow's meddling in the 2016 presidential election. he said putin denied being involved, president trump has avoided stating unequivocally that russia interfered in the election. president trump referred to mexico's president, as his, friend and their first face-to-face meeting. that also took place in hamburg. back in january, president nie to cancelled a meeting with trump following tensions and questions of mexico paying for the united states border wall n this meeting they discussed terms of the north american free trade agreement between the u.s., mexico and canada and, according to reports they do not, discuss the border wall.

and in the meantime on the streets of hamburg authorities tried to prevent groups of anti capitalist protesters from disrupting the summit. protesters started fires in the streets while german police fired water cannon toss disperse the groups. escalating violence prompted police to call reenforcement to help the 15,000 officers, all ready deployed. back here at home teen gunned down during a road rage incident in chester county is laid to rest. family and friends gathered in the rain to say hear final farewell to 18 year-old bianca roberson, viewing and funeral services was held at st. paul 's baptist church in west chester. authorities say that 28 year-old david desper shot roberson last week after both drivers, tried to merge into the same lane, on route 100 in west goshen. desper turned himself in and is being held, without bail. police are investigating a series of drive by paint ball attacks in two philadelphia neighborhoods. police say five people were hit yesterday on the 5,000

block of wood land avenue in southwest philadelphia. minutes earlier, officers received a similar report about a mile away in university city, and eyewitnesses told police that four male suspects got away in a silver infinity with a partial pa license plate, reading kj. police are looking into whether relation event reports of firecrackers being thrown at residents in that area related to these paint ball attacks. for the second time in less than two weeks police say a noose has been found hanging outside prominent center city landmarks this most recent incident happened this morning , police say a passerby saw this noose hanging near a tree near graduate hospital at 18th and lombard. it has been since removed. now investigators are looking into who may have placed it there and y. >> it could be someone doing a prank but what we're concerned about anytime you see a noose or that artifact it conquers

up folks thinking of lynching so it could be something like hate speech and that is why we are not treating it something as benign. >> police hope surveillance video could lead them to a suspect. another noose incident is under investigation at u.s. mint, on independent mall. on this case a mint employee is accused of hanging the noos e which happened last week it is unclear if that person is facing any charges. well, it is a friday in the summer. that means summer if he is back and this week we are taking you north to berks county. ukee washington is live in kutztown for the kutztown folk festival, ukee. >> reporter: once again, a beautiful day driving up from the philadelphia area earlier we had rain this morning but right now skies are clear, some cloudy but something could becoming in but lauren casey will get into that in a

little bit. this is a beautiful area kutztown has gently grown, gently grown over the years. i was here 20 years ago. it was just as beautiful then. it has gone from a plowing town to a college town, and, paint quite the picture for all who come up here to visit. the bells toll in the clock tower at kutztown university, an institution almost as old as the community itself. grown by german settlers and farmers since the mid 1720's. >> kutztown itself was a little ham let on the creek along easton road which main road that went from easton to lancaster in the main inland city in pennsylvania. >> reporter: some who came to kutztown were indentured servants working off their debts before becoming rural farmers. others were wealthy land own others eager to purchase

sprawling estates from the penn government and put down roots. >> just a little bit north of us, 10 miles north is the ridge which is the frontier line, so no one really ventured over that because on the other side of that line were the native americans. >> reporter: that boundary meant kutztown was mainly a community used for travel, between other places, but ultimately it became a destination of its own a place where teachers came to learn. >> when you think about the fact that we started right on the heels of the civil war and we were created as a school to teach teachers. that is what normal schools were. we were at the normal school at the time for berks, lehigh and ski kill counties. >> reporter: kutztown university evolved over years but always with education, as its focus. in 1928 the facility became kutztown state teachers college, and then in 1960 they became kutztown state college, before earning a official university status in 1983. >> we've gone from a few

hundred students in the beginning to as many as 10,700 students in 2010 and right now we have about 8,000 students. >> reporter: through all of the growth, kutztown's charm has stayed intact. a downtown, with busy restaurants and shops, suitable for students, and locals alike. >> i think one of the beauties of the town of kutztown is that it really hasn't changed a lot. you can still see, pennsylvania the way it existed in the 18th century, within a 15 or 20 minute drive >> reporter: and you know let me tell but another hallmark of kutztown university. it is its football program, hard to go anywhere in town without seeing the golden bears, in 2015, the team celebrated 100 seasons of ku football, great program, with some great players, as a matter of fact you may know the name andre re id, nfl hall of famer, john mobley with the

want to show everybody this shirt, keeping it kutztown. tell us what that is all about and that is a great campaign. >> thank you. keeping it kutztown is a promotional thing that we are doing with the community partnership, and that is our main street program a non- profit organization to revitalize and preserve downtown kutztown. keeping kutztown as historical part of our town, so we still love history of our town but we move forward with the university as well. >> i'm feeling pride coming through your voice, right now and you are known as the champion of this town. >> that is right. >> tell us why. >> well, it has been 12 years. twelve years i have been mayor of kutztown and when i started my platform it was to improve town relationship and i think difficult a good job. we have lots of events. we just keep moving forward and, what is good for the town is good for the university and vice verse a we are just going to keep on moving forward. >> speaking of lots of events this festival has grown over the years. >> yes, yes. >> people come from all over. >> all over the world for our

where we're positioned. nice breeze kicking up at 10 miles an hour. we've got humidity. i'm keeping an eye on the cumulus cloud that are starting to grow higher in the sky indicating our atmosphere is a little unstable and we have storms up win right now in and around harrisburg area pretty well developed line of thunderstorms moving off to thee and they are trucking their way toward the berks county area we could contend with these storms as we head throughout the 6:30 or 7:00 o'clock and then eventually that line can hold together in center city perhaps by around 8:00 o'clock this evening. do prepare yourself to see thunderstorm rolling through during the evening hours otherwise, temperatures will be warmer. 848 in philadelphia. eighty-five in reading. humid as well with dew points up in the mid 70's and some locations, so as we head in the evening do prepare for that chance of a storm otherwise as we head in the late evening that chance will diminish as we lose heating of the day but guys, i'm by the

not much left of the building in downtown oakland california that caught fire this morning. investigators have not yet said what started the fire at seven story construction site, it was first reported around 4:30 this morning, nearby buildings had to be evacuated and smoke seen for miles, no injuries were reported. rain to start the day and there is a chance more showers could fire up tonight? meteorologist lauren casey's live in kutztown where she's tracking our forecast, lauren. >> thanks, guess contact having a great time out here. weather is beautiful. we have a wonderful breeze, we have got some sunshine, cloud, feels great in the shade. music started off behind me here in kutztown but i am keeping my eye on storms off to the west and around harrisburg area trending east and they could impact us here at folk festival in the next couple hours. see these cells moving off to the east, no warnings, that is good news but heavy downpours and lightening embedded within these cells that i'll keep an eye on. temperatures are warm, after

that rain this morning, thunderstorm activity, temperatures were cool to start but once that sun popped up temperatures up to 85 degrees in philadelphia, 86 in wilmington. 86 degrees in reading. wind speed we have a nice breeze in some parts of the area north and west of the city, up around 10 or 12 miles an hour in allentown and reading area and nice breeze to get here in kutztown. dew points are making temperatures feel warmer then they reflect. dew points in the upper 60's, zero seven's and dew point reporting at 80 degrees at dover. we are dealing with some steamy conditions, on this summer day and your comfort index right now, yeah, it has news that steamy category. even oppressive for some. but good news as we head into the day tomorrow humidity levels will be dropping off and throughout the day it will be feeling great by late day saturday. future weather showing us as we head in the next several hours we will deal with this line of thunderstorms rolling through, as it will be at its

most intense toward berks county, lehigh valley and poconos and trending to weaken moving eastbound but we have a good shot of seeing one of those storms sneak into center city philadelphia or immediate suburbs. lowest chance of the storm this evening is going to be down the shore. we could maybe see a lingering shower as we head into early tomorrow morning but otherwise , we are looking good in the shore cast, and upcoming weekend potentially isolated shower tomorrow, sunday, gorgeous, plenty of sunshine, and high temperature of 82 degrees but overnight tonight, ac running, mostly, cloudy and mostly cloudy early 72 degrees. for the day tomorrow early morning shower but most of us will be staying dry, decreasing clouds so improving conditions throughout the day with a high temperature at 89 degrees and as we head in the upcoming weekend, sunday is going to be down right gorgeous with low humidity values by july standard.

and reports of people throwing firecrackers at residents in southwest philadelphia and university city. in the cases of paint ball attacks police are searching for four suspects in the silver infinity sedan. teenager killed in the road rage incident in chester county last week has been laid to rest. family, friend gathered in west chester this morning for funeral services of 18 year-old bianca roberson, the driver, charged in connection with her death is being hailed without bail. president trump met with russian president vladamire putin, at the g20 sum tonight germany. during the meeting word broke of an agreement between u.s. and russia on a cease-fire in southwest syria. the president trump also questioned putin over meddling in the u.s. election. the meeting between the two leaders lasted more than two hours. good evening i'm jessica dean. thanks for being with us. joining us now to talk more about this historic encounter is cbs news chief washington correspondent and anchor of face the nation john dickerson

as always, wonderful to see you. lets start first with this meeting between president trump and president putin, what do you make of all this and news of the cease-fire. >> good to be with you, guess contact first of all, the fact that the meeting went two hours and 15 minutes, it was only scheduled to go for a half an hour, poor translators were probably warn out. we're in the clear exactly what to make of it. cease-fire in syria is big deal over last month u.s. and russians have been up but bumping autopsy begins each other in syria, and american plane shut down a syrian plane three weeks ago and russians came back with very harsh language, so, the idea that any kind of an agreement could be work out between u.s. and russians in syria is dees lacing of tension between the two countries. but now hard part which is, the russians are supporting as sod in syria, and the

americans don't want assod to stay in power. so work ago this out will be very difficult. as american forces beat isis in seer, yeah the question hoist fills the vacuum. who has interests, who are in charge there and that gets very complicated, very fast. but this is better move on the syria front then things have been going lately. >> and then, tension continues to be focused on north korea as well, a lot of people talking about that at g20. you will than talking bit on sunday as well. >> that is right. we will talk to you. n ambassador nikki haley and john mccain, a republican senator, of course, from arizona what is really interesting about that is ambassador haley at u.n. says not only is america putting pressure on north korea but she said any country that works with north korea and does any business or trade or helped prom up the regime would be considered a part of the problem. so that is a very steepes lacing in the u.s. position toward china.

>> reporter: young manny spoke to has a compelling story he ace syrian refugee and as such he was able to give us perspective as to what the cease-fire means beyond politics and what it means to syrian people and while he is optimistic that will result in less bloodshed in his home country he thinks it is important that the world understands that it will still come at a cost to his people. on the sidelines of the g20 sum tonight germany, possible progress in the middlee, president donald trump and russian's vladamire putin resulting in an agreement, to back a cease-fire in war torn syria. >> when i hear stuff like that i do get a little bit happy, moving forward. >> reporter: mahmoud grew up in aleppo a city hit hardest by the country's civil war. he came to fail in 2012 after being forced to flee his home country. >> the government was able to get our names, who we are, what we did so at that point it was pretty much suicide to stay in the city. >> reporter: he was just a teenager, and part of the

protesting group of syrian people fighting for freedom trying to over throw the country's oppressive government. while he was able to flee to america his father, seen in this picture in aleppo did not and was killed during the war. over the past five years of this unrest in syria he is also lost a cousin and several friend. he is hopeful that this new cease-fire backed by u.s., russia and jordan will work but he is also hoping that the world understands this is not necessarily a victory for the syrian people. >> at this point there is peace but it is not really just a government taking over full control. to think that all that happened was pointless, all of these people died, all of the destruction and not come up with anything like 2010, like nothing happen except for a lot more death. >> reporter: it is important to note u.s. negotiated with russia foresees fires in the past under the obama administration, those eventually collapsed or did not result in any ending of

the violence for very long. we will wait and see if this one is any different. reporting live from fail, alycia nieves for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thanks very much. officials say that a beijing bound delta airlines flight had to return to seattle after passenger allegedly assault aid flied a tenth ant. authorities say this happened 45 minutes after take off last night, and officials say that the man was restrained by other passengers on board, one of those passengers who did not want to be identified described the scene. >> started going toward the exit door, where flight attendant tried to subdue him, where she got punched, and then another guy came in and try to help. and he got drilled, too. >> two people were transported to the hospital, the rest of the pass eveningers were re booked on a flight late last night to beijing. fbi says there is no indication that the incident was a threat to national

on the healthwatch tonight , specialized gyms are offering sports and fitness programs for people with disabilities. health reporter stephanie stahl is here with more on this new trend. >> as you know staying active is critical for many patients, left disabled by life threatening accidents, or by painful health conditions. well, now it is easier for them to stay healthy. harsh decar was victim of the violent crime 12 years ago that left him in the wheelchair. he didn't know how he would

keep his body in shape. >> it was very difficult to understand how to work out, again. how to still going through remain healthy. >> getting higher, okay. >> okay. >> reporter: he now coordinates a fitness program designed to help other people who are disabled. >> without this program, i don't know where i would be. >> eleven, 12. >> trainers customized work outs for patients hoff had strokes, brain tumors, ms and debilitating injuries, goal to help people who can't stay active improve their strength and endurance. >> there are no limits to what people are capable of doing, that is our motto here. >> reporter: sixty-six year-old ray is a quadriplegic after a snow tubing accident this electric stationary bike, moves his legs for him, critical for, rebuilding muscles. >> i have followed it up with therapy sessions here at the hospital, and determined to get out of my wheelchair. >> reporter: sandra miller says program has helped her feel better physically and
