not even know. >> reporter: well this case began days before there was ever a recovery. this is what happened on monday, july 10th, 20 year-old cosmo dinardo was arrested on unrelated weapons charges but left bucks county jail tuesday night after posting 10 percent of a million-dollar bail. also, on monday, police began to focus their search on farmland owned by dinardo family in solebury township bucks county. heavy equipment used to begin digging on the property removing cement blocks and digging a hole to try town earth evidence. cadaver dogs montgomery county cadets state police, fbi and five law enforcement agencies including philadelphia police also all working in tandem scouring for evidence on that property. and now, to tuesday, july 11th , more developments are happening at that point. bucks county district attorney declares dinardo a person of interest in this case and believes foul play is involved in the disappearance of the four men. dinardo remains free, on bail, at that point.
5:06 pm
then on wednesday, july 12th, more developments on that day, district attorney announced investigators found important evidence, dinardo is arrested once again, and he is charged this time with stealing the car belong to go one of the missing men, 21 year-old tom meo. bail, set at a historic $5 million cash. after a flurry of activity throughout the day, at expansive farm site investigation takes a grim turn midnight news conference is called to announce authorities have discovered remains of the 19 year-old dean finocchiaro, his body buried in a 12 and a half foot common grave, other humane remains discovered as multiple law enforcement agencies, continue to dig for clues. >> they are working in shifts due to the exhaust continuing conditions that the heat, the dust, the humidity, but they actually have to be ordered to stand down from their shifts so that they can be replaced. >> as many as 50 people have been work ago this scene at a

time on any given day cadaver dogs have been helpful in this case as well sniffing out evidence, that has proven crucial in the investigation this remains an active scene in bucks county. natasha brown cbs-3 "eyewitness news", ukee and jessica back to you. stay with us as we learn new developments in this murder mystery we will bring them to you. you can always find latest on our web site at cbs philly.com across our region we are under a severe thunderstorm watch right now as we deal with dangerously hot conditions. if you have been outside at all today you know, inside air conditioning it feels a lot more comfortable, there is adriatic difference. for those in the element it didn't take long to work up a sweat. >> we cleaned up an attic in the middle of the summer and this air is just so thick and just covered with sweat instantly and it doesn't stop. >> excessive heat warning is in effect until 8:00 o'clock tonight for philadelphia and surrounding suburbs. we will check with cleve
5:08 pm
bryan in a moment for more on how people are dealing with the excessive heat but first we will go to meteorologist lauren casey who is keeping an eye on the temperatures and severe thunderstorm watch, lauren. >> we are dealing with the dual threat of the extreme heat and we have severe thunderstorm watch in effect for large portion of the delaware val that i includes center city philadelphia it runs until 9:00 o'clock tonight. see area in yellow. a million people under this watch right now. we have been watching an additional now, severe thunderstorm warnings in effect when we see warnings issued that is time to take action, most activity north of the city at present where we do have severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the philadelphia county, sliver in montgomery county, bucks county and burlington county, cell movinge at 30 miles an hour so impacting abington, bensalem, moving off to the east and impact florence. we have a severe thunderstorm warning and now tornado warning for parts of the berks county, it looks like reading
5:09 pm
is included in that tornado warning right now, this cell moving east/southe, continuing lightening right now as this cell is moving your way. also dealing with heavy rainfall and strong wind potentially up to 16 miles an hour, we have previously had severe thunderstorm warning for central berks county until 5:15. national weather service has just issued a tornado warning for parts of the central berks county until 5:30 so there is rotation being detected within this cell, right at this point would i imagine it is doppler radar indicated. i was seeing rotation in the cell in northampton count up as well. these cells do have the ability to have within them a spin of tornado, that will be along with the severe warning, strong, gusty winds, frequent lightening as well. we will look at this cell, severe thunderstorm warning with this cell as well moving off to thee effecting west brad forward right now stretching off to thee at 30 miles an hour, this is
5:10 pm
severe thunderstorm warning, for potential of 60 miles an hour wind in chester county. also keeping an eye on this cell, telling but in northampton county showing signs of rotation, just a few minutes ago, weak rotation at that but we will keep an eye on this cell potentially that could see a tornado warning being issued as well what to expect as we head in the evening tonight? strong to severe weather. we are seeing. that these storms will be rapidly developing and rapidly strengthening because we had that heat our atmosphere is primed, it is extremely unstable right now, so these cells that start to get going they are flaring up very quickly. you can go from no rain at all , sunny skies to dealing with a severe thunderstorm and 10 to 20 minutes time. keep yourself weather aware as we head in the next several hours. also dealing with the damaging wind threat isolated tornado threat, heavy rain threat all across the area we are seeing right now most of the activity north of the city but we could
5:11 pm
see activity flaring up south of the city as we head in the next couple hours. should we go back to radar? we will go back over to the weather center so i can talk about the tornado warning, so i have to go take a step back over to the weather center and so i can unclick myself manning the weather center all along and now dealing with the tornado warning. trying to multi task with you here. >> will the storms linger. >> they will not linger but we will be dealing with this scattered, you know, scattered in coverage and rapidly strengthening, rapidly forming as well, so it is not going to stick around your neck of the wood. not moving in a extremely fast clip in forward motion and 30 miles an hour which isn't necessarily slow. slow moving cell we would say five, 10, 20 miles an hour fast moving cell would be moving at 50, 60, 70 miles an
5:12 pm
hour. the cell movement is between that but mostly concerned with the cell in berks county where we do have this now tornado warning in effect. you can see reading is included, we're under this warning, cell is moving to the east way touch of southerly component to the motion there continuing lightening. lets take this lightening off to get a better look at position here. you will see this bright reflectivity where we see bright red, purple, that is likely your most intense portion of the storm so right over berks county right now, leesport, center included in that, movement off to the east our concern in the maiden creek area, you need to seek safe shelter at this point. i will check these storm reports, there is reports from chester county from the severe thunderstorm but no reports for berks county as this point tornado is radar indicated so radar showing some signs of
5:13 pm
rotation, that there could potentially be a tornado embedded, in this severe thunderstorm in berks county moving off to the east at 30 miles an hour. cell is currently conditions or most potent part of the cell is just north of the reading area, and hey, lauren i will give a second. i know you have news. give her a second to get all that information gathered but this is a tornado warning that is happening until 5:30 currently 5:13. in the bucks county or berks county, berks county area what you want to do is make sure you are away from windows, go to the interior portion of your house. what typically happens is the sky start to turn that green color and you see the atmosphere start to spin around and that is when you want to go inside and get out of these. we are letting lauren look at this information just coming in right now but this is happening, in berks county, and she was saying that this cell if you look right there
5:14 pm
it is the most intensely colored portion of that radar is where that most intense part of the storm was but this is radar indicated which means no one has had their eyes on it yet but that means that radar is picking up what is likely a tornado. we are trying to get any damage reports, certainly if you are in the berks county area, where you see that radar indicated tornadoinging through take shelter, go to the interior room in your home , go into a bathroom, that is the most safe places in these sorts of situations. >> this isn't a watch, thinks real deal thinks a warning, a watch means potential exist but this is happening. >> correct, that is right, important to know difference. we had that severe thunderstorm watch in effect which means you need to keep an eye out keep yourself aware of the changing weather situation but when that warning is issued you need to take action in berks county we need to be taking action.
5:15 pm
you need to be on the low level of your home away from any windows. you want to have most walls around you. basement if you don't have a basement and interior bathroom , interior closet, you want to put most walls around with you this strong wind threat. even if we don't have a tornado on the ground we still have this potential to see very strong wind in excess of 60 to 70 miles an hour which can cause damage. you could see impacts from flying debris so you want to be positioned indoors away from the windows and also likely and pur line damage also likely with this very strong cell right new moving through berks county. i put a storm tracker, see tornado warning in effect until 5:30 in the towns here, fresh valley at 5:17. so really in the next two minutes. sorry if i pronounce this name rust combmanor, owe lay at 5:29 and pine waters at 5:37 as this cell moves east at 30
5:16 pm
miles an hour you say 60 to 07 miles an hour that is like a low grade hurricane, isn't it. >> yeah, think bit in that context, ukee that is a great point. you think of hurricane strength. tropical storm force strength is 39 miles an hour and that is where we start things out and thinking about hurricane force that is 74 miles an hour , so when you get up in that range 60 to 70 miles an hour that can do some serious damage tour property and could cause potentially personal injury to yourself, to your family, gets or live stock. we are talking about a tornado warning if you are just joining us issued by national weather service in central berks county is main focus right now accounts just north of the reading area you can see continuing lightening ongoing in and around that area likely torrential rain. this is radar indicated rotation.
5:17 pm
so no confirm nation of a tornado on the ground but does not mean it is not on the ground. that is how we want to treat this better safe than sorry. we will seek appropriate shelter because this tornado warning is in effect for the next 15 or so minutes, 10 to 15 minutes. >> now this is severe weather warning or warning season is that correct. >> that is correct, for us as we head in the july month in particular in and around philadelphia area delaware valley, july is a very month where we see a lot of incidents of severe weather over last couple weeks we have had quite a few instances of severe weather. we had a tornado in delaware. we had two tornadoes in new jersey and now we are dealing with the tornado warning right now in berks county where we see that bright purple, bright red color that is most intense portion of this cell right now doppler radar indicated tornado. there is some tree damage, can you repeat that, in penn
5:18 pm
township some tree damage, potential power lines down in penn township. this cell does not have a history of producing, damage with strong wind. you need to seek safe shelter because of this moving through berks county area just north of reading, zoom in as far as i can here, you can see the purple area, right there, and that is going to be our main focus the strongest portion of the line that is likely going to be where we have rotation and also potential for strong wind, torrential rainfall. up wind of this maiden creek. fresh valley as we were talking about in the storm tracker. urban acres, trailer park, it looks like it is just to the east of this cell, laurel dale so if you are in and around this area in berks county you
5:19 pm
want to see safe shelter, get to the low level of your home and away from windows. lets see if we have any other storm reports coming in at this time. >> lauren, can you show thaws map ban of where this storm is heading, because right now that is where the storm is, so certainly if you are in a area where that green red, pinkies you should take shelter but you can show where it is heading next, if you are in those area you will want to get ready to take shelter as well. >> absolutely yeah, where you see this red outline that is going to be our tornado warning in berks county, so within this area out lines we have main concern right now, just north of the reading, it is moving east but it does a little bubble off to the south and that is indication sometimes when we have a cell that moves off the two right like that that can be indicative of a very strong, severe thunderstorm with potential for the cell to have
5:20 pm
or produce a tornado. that is our main concern right now. at this point it doesn't look like this cell is weakening and it is maintaining its strength. we have been dealing with this heat. sometimes when we have this type of heat it works to create a lid of the atmosphere where by get storms starting to fire up but they hit this heat and it suppresses activity. sometimes the storms are so intense they can break this cap and when they do that they are exposed to cooler air in the upper atmosphere. we know cooler air, it gets in the air, able to rise and form explosively. i think that is situation we are seeing today that is these cells are breaking this lid of the atmosphere created by this extreme heat and now that they have busted this lead they are explosive. we're seeing rapidly strengthening, rapidly developing cells and rapidly strengthening cells as well and now we are dealing with this tornado warning in effect for parts of the berks county. cells just off to the north of
5:21 pm
reading. >> that activity is suppressed lauren what does that do for the speed. >> it has to do with more vertical motion then it does horizontal motion but that is a good question. it suppresses that vertical motion and these rising cloud and thunderstorms. at this point it looks like especially north of philadelphia, it looks like we have a convection that is break ago this cap or that lid that we would call it, in meteorology terms. you can see bright color, the purple is still in there. it is not dissipating. i'm just trying to turn you over to the vesselsty to see if we can get a good look at that. sometimes it can give us the best depiction but, all right, we will let lauren work on that for just a second. if you are just tuning in this is a tornado warning happening in berks county at 5:21.
5:22 pm
this goes until 5:30. nine more minutes for this tornado warning in berks county. we know there are reports of trees down, lauren has been talking about the strength obviously possible tornado, even ef0 lowest one you can have even though straight line wind can do incredible amount of damage. if you are in this area where you see dark shaded colors you will want to take shelter right now, certainly don't be outside you want to be inside in an interior room of your house, stay away from the windows, certainly and just turn tv way up. we will talk and you can listen, just turn that tv way up and go in your safe place and lauren will take care of you until 5:30. we have eight more minutes thon tornado warning and hopefully it will expire at that time. >> how accurate is that time line 5:30, could it happen before or can it, even build even further after 5:30.
5:23 pm
5:30 is the best guesstimate right now. >> warning is in effect for this particular area that we have outlined in red. i will turn radar off. this area we have outlined in red for berks county stretching from central berks to eastern berks until 5:30. this cell can maintain its strength and continuing to move off to the east southerly jog there at 30 miles an hour and fit holds together the national weather service will expand that warning if they think it will spread into an additional counties. so there could be some concern as we look toward montgomery county as a cell, makes its way off to thee and southe right now. it did make that jog, we have heaviest portion of the cell right overhead of the reading area so you need to be taking safe shelter in and around reading where we see bright red color. i will zoom back out, a little mixed click. this is heaviest portion area of most concern, area where we
5:24 pm
are seeing that rotation being depicted so we could be dealing with the tornado on the ground. we have had reports of the down trees and power lines in berks county from this particular severe thunderstorm national weather service is continuing as they just issued a statement they are continuing the warning until 5:30 so they are seeing that is there still indeed rotation indicate blood think cell moving offe southe and overhead in reading. so, in areas of wind of the reading area, forks, farming ridge, pheasant run you need to be concerned this cell will head your way. it is movinge/southe at 30 miles an hour. so in the mount penn area at 5:25. rickson at 5:28 and stone town at 5:33 as this cell continues to progress. >> i'm in the sure where judy jackson is, she said she has thunderstorms, and some pretty
5:25 pm
good rain, coming down. find out where she is but it is about 63 degrees. still relatively warm but she's getting these thunderstorms you have been talking about and showing. >> in these areas we are still dealing with strong to severe thunderstorms moving across much of the area but we are focusing on this one particular cell in berks county because this is most dangerous cell at the present moment as it is tornado warned and potential that there could be a tornado embedded within this cell. it is difficult to see we are dealing with torrential rainfall and dealing with nearly continuing lightening. i have turned it off to get a bet lear at position of the cell but as you can see we will zoom out a bit, check out lightening embedded with this cell. very difficult to see not that it is your job to see but something to be spot by storm spotter, certified storm spot ters, emergency managers, police department, fire department those are people we should be looking out for potential tornado on the
5:26 pm
ground. you yourself should seek that safe shelter, interior room and bathroom but it would be difficult to detect even for emergency managers if that tornado is on the ground because of the heavy rainfall and nearly continuing lightening. at this point we will go with the doppler radar indicated but assumption has to be and reaction has to be as though there were in fact a tornado on the ground right now in central berks county in and around reading area moving off to thee/southeast. >> lauren, dawn zoom out to give our viewers a good idea of exactly, yeah, if were you positioned in fail or in south jersey, this is where that storm is right now and you can get an idea of what direction it is moving as well as you keep an eye to the sky. >> we're going to pay attention to the cells popping up but it is the one in berks county right now that is tornado warning, that is going until 5:30. >> that is correct our area of
5:27 pm
main concern but you do see these areas lit up, just west of philadelphia so we have that severe thunderstorm warning in effect, that has been issued for chester county and parts of the delaware county, severe thunderstorm warning. really activity flaring up north and west of the city, pretty widespread in coverage at this point, parts of the south jersey, northeastern burling county seeing heavy activity. it looks like they did extend that tornado warning into parts of the montgomery county >> so that is new information you are just getting in, that is new information just getting until 6:15 tornado warning, now in effect for parts of the west central montgomery county, remains in effect for southeastern berks county, northeastern chester county now in a tornado warning until 6:15. thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado, located
5:28 pm
right here near reading area. >> so this is coming straight from the national weather service to you in the weather office. >> absolutely national weather service is responsible for, issuing all warnings, i don't issue warnings here in the weather department. this is coming from the national weather service they have chosen to extend this warning into parts of the montgomery county and also chester counties until 6:15, cell moving off to thee southe , potential for a tornado within this cell, doppler radar is giving us indications of rotation within this severe thunderstorm. even we could see 60 to 07 miles an hour wind, very intense wind, do damage tour property, they can cause you harm, injury to yourself, family, pets and live stock. you need to seek shelter this particular cell. right now i'll turn radar off very quickly to show you where these tornado warnings are.
5:29 pm
it will include pottstown, limerick,e covering try, royersford and stone town, juste of reading. this entire area where you see outlines in red. this is all going to be that tornado warning. >> again, as lauren gets all of the details over there we are getting new information that this tornado warning has been extended now until 6:15. so it was 5:00 30 now extended to 6:15 for parts of the montgomery and chester counties. we have berks county as well. keep a close eye what you are seeing on your screen which is where that storm cell is, and lauren's working on getting exact, better idea of the time and where this his heading. is what area right now what communities should be seeking shelter right now. >> this cell is positioned east of reading it was overhead in reading and now
5:30 pm
you see these bright orange, bright red indications on our radar we saw activity. that is where cell is currently positioned so over lower and i'm sorry if i pro nuns these areas movinge with the southerly component to the e southe at 30 miles an hour. so stonersville, watch out for this, browns mill, earlville, as it continues to move through portions of berks county and there there is concern with this cell as well in montgomery county right now for powe tension of some radar indicated rotation, so, this also, within that tornado warning, this is separate cell but again potential for some rotation has been indicated on doppler radar and national weather service issued tornado warning for royersford area lynn field, limerick, east vincent impacted by this
5:31 pm
particular cell that is moving off to thee southe. >> if you are in these areas that lauren's talking about and you are safe you are taken shelter and you are able to use social media we would love to hear what is going on in your area if you are able to so we can share that with your neighbors and everyone else, around the tri-state area especially area thaw see in the bright colors there on your screen. please let us know that one that you are safe and what is going on in your area and how long it has been taking place, some areas looks like they are getting good activity according to lauren's radar there. >> is this one cell that they have the warning out on that is traveling this distance or multiple cells. >> there is multiple cells. there is two cells that we are concerned b there is one, that we had been watching for a period of time, just to the east of reading. it does appear that this cell is weakening, the one east of reading is showing weaker
5:32 pm
signs of retation right now but that is good news but still very potent and tornado warned cell moving off to the east and heading in to eastern berks county, head up in that area. also we have a secondary cell, that is in montgomery county, right in and around upper providence area phoenixville area north of phoenixville. this is secondary cell. this cell appears to be strengthening at this time. this is one that we will keep an even closer eye on tornado warned cell that is cell where we had that secondary warning in effect until 6:15 for portions of west central montgomery county, northeastern chester county until 6:15. doppler radar indicated moving off to the southe at 30 miles per hour. we are dealing with two cells, two tornado warnings, one in effect for portions of central and eastern berks county and secondary one in effect for montgomery and chester county. the secondary one positioned right now over the upper
5:33 pm
providence area, just north of phoenixville moving south east perkiomen, lower providence. >> we will put storm tracker on here to time out some of this. >> do we have any reports from viewers, guys. >> so far we have the trees down, in penn township and, lauren, i want to be clear with our viewers, that the tornado warning for montgomery and chester counties, for those parts of the chester county and montgomery county goes until 6:15 and then what about the one in berks county has that been extended as well or did that expire at 5:30. >> it looks as though, they are positioned on top of each other because with the progression of these the way they are oriented but it looks like that one has been, i don't want to say anything too soon. >> we will let you take a look at that, just in the intense
5:34 pm
heat of this day and front that is moving through, these storms are firing up and lauren talk about how this was going to happen last night and it is certainly coming to be true. so we are trying to keep everyone as safe as possible. if you are in these area that we are talking about right now you will certainly want to take shelter, keep listening because these storms can go in one direction and then can make a slight turn and go another direction. if you are in these general vicinity berks county, montgomery, parts of the chester county you want to pay close attention right now and keeping your eye on this radar as we continue to watch the different cells that have popped up that are radar indicated tornado and again as lauren has mentioned that means that they have not been spotted by anyone's eyes but simply indicated on radar but treat them like they have been seen. we know they have created damage already. >> damage and power outages berks county and power outages right now, aloft people are
5:35 pm
reporting from that area, electric company, two cells, two tornado warnings, lauren on top of it. we are covering what is happening in our area tri-state area tornado warnings in our area once again take shelter, be safe, and if you are able to please let us know whether facebook, twitter, instagram if you are safe let us know what is going on in your area and we will time activity of these storms as they move from one direction to another and lauren's on top of it as well with the national weather service issuing these warnings once again through 6:15. 6:15. it was 5:30. people were looking at the clock and right now that has been extended because it looks like some of these cells could intensify just a bit. lauren, i see you work ago this keyboard feverishly what are you looking at right there >> i'm trying to get a handle. we have one tornado warning but it dozen compass eastern berks county to the east of reading and stretching out to the county line. we have tonight effect for
5:36 pm
portions of montgomery and chester counties. it looks like northeastern chester county and western portions of montgomery county, pottstown is included in this warning. we are dealing with two different cells of concern, this particular, where you see bright red on the radar, so right over stonersville, seeking safe shelter, only down in 30 pine land, moving offe southe at 30 miles an hour, eventually, and moving toward amity area and pottstown as well and then dealing with the secondary cell as we continue to focus south east ward further inner to montgomery county. we are dealing with the second ary cell, also showing signs of rotation, around lower providence area limerick , graterford, upper providence just to the northe, phoenixville, collegeville as well, perkiomen just to the south of the strongest portion of this cell, moving off to the southe at 30 miles an hour
5:37 pm
both showing signs of rotation it is weak rotation at this point but we have to be concerned for possibility that there could be in fact a weak tornado on the ground. it still appears there is rotation, particularly in that cell that is right in and around collegeville area north of phoenixville, rotation isn't strengthening rapidly which is good news but we still have to treat this as though there is a tornado on the ground. this also starting to make its way out of the warning area curious to see if it will extend that warning and then of course we're still dealing with this cell that is just does not want to weaken, making its way out of berks county right now. head up, birdboro, earlville. you can see it stretching out a little bit, it is not looking quite as compact as if it was. we will loop this and see progress of the cell moving
5:38 pm
its way through reading and off to the southe and then within that tornado warning, it is becoming spreading out less exacted that is good news that would be indication that the cell is weakening or is there less potential to see that rotation or possibility of the tornado being on the ground. we are seeing when it was more compact that is indications that the storm was more potent at that time but we are still under tornado warning in these areas until 6:15. parts of the eastern berks county, west central montgomery county and northeastern chester county. >> viewer wrote me and said major thunderstorm blew flew huntington valley but she says that has gone through and all calm while christopher tells me nothing in university city yet but that is further south then where all this activity is taking place. >> we have other severe thunderstorm warnings but we have been concentrating our focus on the tornado warnings because tornado warning has much greater implications not
5:39 pm
that severe thunderstorm warning is nothing to scuff at it is intense as well. we could see 60, 70 miles an hour wind. we can see micro burst activity that can have wind speed that are as strong as a weekend tornado. we certainly want to pay attention as that as well, this is a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for parts of the chester county so west bradford, west goshen, that cell passed on through and now in and around lower merion area, moving off this cell moving offe at 30 miles an hour. so you can see just look toward norristown area, nothing going on and then boom , pop thunderstorm overhead. that is something we have to be concerned about over next several hours. these are rapidly developing, rapidly forming thunderstorms. you can go from sunny skies to contending with a severe thunderstorm in a matter of 10 s of minutes. we need to stay severe weather aware. >> just heard from warminster, pennsylvania and that is where sarah is she says she has big
5:40 pm
time thunderstorms and lightening, a lot of lightening in her our area. >> we have to be aware, keep yourself away from the lightening threat that can be harmful, temperature of lightening is about five times hotter then surface of the sun so that it is a present threat now we are seeing activity it looks like we are break ago this cap i talk about earlier, south of the city right now you see severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for delaware right now new severe thunderstorm warning until 6:00 o'clock for parts of the central delaware just west of dover. the activity has been concentrated north of the city where we had destabilized atmosphere and now it looks like the atmosphere is destabilizing south of the city as well, it looks like some cells tracking their way in center city philadelphia we had that severe thunderstorm just west of the city and that cell moving eastbound still holding itself together. >> so while lauren's getting more information and
5:41 pm
monitoring these storms, if you are just joining us, we are monitoring, some tornado warnings in our area, and that is, in the northeast part of the chester county, western part of the montgomery county and the eastern part of the berks county but what you are looking at right now is radar, we're tracking essentially two cells which would be where these radar indicated tornado would be. and what that means again is that radar is indicating these storms are capable of producing tornadoes and anyone in these area where you see that dark red color where you see that center there just to the radar, you need to take cover, you need to be inside of your home, taking cover, and certainly listening, as we go through all of this, but as lauren said, more storms firing up. we may jog in a different direction to that end at 5:54. earlville you need to be taking part.
5:42 pm
5:46, wood edge, 5:52. colebrookdale and five credit 55 upper pottsgrove. those are areas that are going to be directly impacted by this very strong storm, that is capable, of producing a tornado. you just want to be as careful as you possibly can, get inside, again hunkered down in your safe spot within your home and let these storms pass >> some of these storms are having a impact in the norristown area as well, tiffany sent us a note saying, buckets and buckets of rain, and, lightening as well and we have john cork ran, john, are you on the phone. >> nice to see you montgomery county, what is it like, is what your best advice. >> it is pouring, it is coming down as we said in buckets, people we asked people to if they are outside to get in cover to stay off the roads if at all possible, and get into an internal place of the house
5:43 pm
5:44 pm
>> we are following big break ing news, right now we have been following disappearance of four young men, in the bucks county area person of interest in that case cosmo dinardo has now confessed to four murders. >> right now, let's check the scene, and go to, we have a reporter on the scene, and we do not have a report other the scene but that is breaking news right now, reporters have been gathering information and they will report to us, probably in about, five to 10 minutes, as we cover, this breaking news store which our weather, as well. >> so again before we go back to the weather, cosmo dinardo has confessed to all four murders in this case of four missing young men out of bucks county. we know that everyone has been paying close attention to that story. we will continue to pay close attention to that story but right now we have two major storms that are capable of putting people in danger. we need to put people lives first. lets go back to lauren to update everyone on where those
5:45 pm
storms are. busy evening certainly and we have a tornado warning in effect. we have one tornado warning. two cells of concerns. one exited the warning area. still shows indications of some rotation, but we will look at this cell, this is the one still within the tornado warned area, until 6:15, as you can see this cell right now overhead of the shaynes ville area, just to the northwest of amity moving southe, and pottstown, and, seek shelter basement, bathroom,
5:46 pm
this area right here. >> as soon as you said cell was moving toward the southe i have a message from ricky who said storm is forming around heartly, delaware which is just, i guess, west of the dover, southwest of dover. this is part of the original cell you have been looking the >> that is a separate cell from the one we were checking out at berks county but that is this particular cell right there, it is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:00. so probably seeing darkening skies, moving it indoors in parts of the west central delaware with this cell that is heading your way, moving again, off to thee, it looks like easterly motion at 30 miles an hour, we could see strong gusty wind in excess of
5:47 pm
the 60 miles an hour and also some quarter sized hail for that cell moving into delaware but again we still do have this tornado warning that is persistent, and, and, mainly montgomery county, parts of the chester county and northeastern chester county as well. >> we have been following this , since, what, probably about 5:15 this afternoon. it is now 5:47, these tornado warnings are in effect until 6:15, for parts of the chester , montgomery, and berks county, and to get a little bit more specific, northeastern chester county, western montgomery county, and eastern berks county, and these storms are making their way, across the area, right now, and as you are in these areas, that are highlighted you will certainly want to take cover and also just in our general viewing area, know that this is part of the larger system of storms that is making its way all through the area, so certainly, pay careful attention if you are in the tornado warning area but just generally in our
5:48 pm
viewing area we have strong storms, moving through, right now. >> you never know with these storms what they will do for instance as you mentioned we have been following it since 5:15. original off time if you will was around 5:30. that was almost 20 minutes ago >> yes. >> so things are happening. these things are moving, forming and generating some steam, if you will. >> absolutely yeah our atmosphere is still very, very unstable. looking at projection called tape, i will just go all metrologically in and convective available potential energy. when we see that, analyzing things and that kind of index was kind of just going through the roof, really rapidly to indicate our atmosphere is unstable, primed for any storm activity. getting any showers that kind of pop up, they can quickly, quickly strengthen, rapidly strengthen and rapidly form as well. that is what we have been seeing over last couple of hours with this convection explode ago cross the area really within a very short period of time.
5:49 pm
thinks a secondary cell that we were looking at, it did show signs of, some rotation, within this cell, and it is now under a severe thunderstorm warning. that is good news, it is not anymore tornado warned, it still does have some weak indications of rotation, and rotation, in and around, it looks like, this area, so off to the northe of collegeville and then this cell is moving to thee at 30 miles an hour. so this was the one, right here, that we were keeping an eye on, this was the, that is an arrow. secondary cell that we were watching, and it is no longer tornado warned, but it is severe thunderstorm warned so we have that potential for strong, gusty wind in excess of 60 miles an hour and also, some quarter sized hall, within this very potent cell that is likely producing frequent lightening, there is a skipjack area. reflectivity bright portion
5:50 pm
overhead of you, cedars and also this moving off to thee at about 30 miles an hour, as two hour loop, and so eventually if that cells hold together it will make its way in the montgomery, upper dublin area head up for that severe thunderstorm. we have a tornado warning for berks county, cell positioned right now, in eastern berks county has not yet exited, berks county, this one, this cell we have been watching since that first tornado warning, and when it was in and around reading area, now in and around amity area west of douglas over earlville, shaynesville, you can see reflectivity is broadening out a bit, so that would be good news, good indication see how it has broadened out and less compact? that would be an indication where it would be good sign for us saying that perhaps this cell is starting to weaken or rotation within this
5:51 pm
system. we have wind and we get compact rotation but if you have rotation that is broadening out, is there less, chance that you are going to see, a tornado actually, funnel cloud or tornado hitting the ground. it just doesn't have dynamitic do it. that is some indication. national weather service is still continuing this tornado warning in effect for portions of berks county, montgomery county and chester county until 6:15. >> kelly wrote in and says she is hearing people are pulling off highway off of 422 because they just can't see. >> wow. >> they cannot see, pulling off and under an under pass just pull off to the side of the road. if you know someone on the road right now, you can try to get them on cell phone, speaker phone and pull off to the side and get out of this mess but kelly just people are pulling off highway at 422 they cannot see to drive, safe ly. >> yeah. >> we're seeing a reported tree snapped in up rooted in
5:52 pm
amity gardens in berks county, thunderstorm wind damage report by trained spotter at 5:42. just about 10 minutes ago with this cell we have on the board that we have been watching, for better part of, an hour. >> i want to let people know what they are looking at, this is route 309 in montgomery ville, montgomery county, and you can sigh it is a lit built of the grain i picture there but it looks like gray skies, but it seems like people are driving just fine in that portion of montgomery county. you know, decent sized chunk of county so it could look that way and one part of it and another way in another part of it. be careful still in the line of these severe possibly tornadic storms. you are looking back at the radar. we monitor these potentially producing, tornado systems that are coming through, our area.
5:53 pm
and lauren right now, the one warning that remains in effect is one that will go until 6:15 for parts of the chester, montgomery and berks county is that correct. >> that is correct, finishing right on the border of berks county about to cross over into montgomery county, and, far northeastern chester county at the moment, it is right overhead of the douglas, pine forge area and about to cross over in upper pottsgrove , so this is moving offe southe at 30 miles an hour, tornado warning does remain in effect until 6:15. we have about 20 more minutes. still indications of rotations still possibility that this cell indeed could contain a tornado. i'll lift radar off real quickly to show new this red box that area of concern storm has passed this amity area and up wind our concern is going to be pottstown area lower pottsgrove, halfway house into
5:54 pm
douglas, eventually east coventry and lynn field. we will turn radar back on. these areas are included then tornado warning, that goes until 6:15. here's latest position of the cell. so we're seeing these red colors, and orange colors, this is strongest portion of the cell right now and we had report of the wind damage uprooted and snapped trees and in and around the amonte area. >> i looked at one of your red boxes and severe thunderstorm has gone until 63:09 warning. i saw that box pop up. >> we have multiple warning in effect right now. we have, this warning in effect, and that does go until 6:30 this was secondary cell that we are keeping an eye on, most are a weak rotation but not tornado warned but severe thunderstorm warned right now over norittonville, torrential rain, coming down over wooster , and up into skipjack.
5:55 pm
>> i think it is skippack. >> yes, a lot of towns out there. just trying to get this information out there. >> you know your town name if i am miss pronouncing it, but lansdale eventually this heading your way, as well moving off to thee at 30 miles an hour, west point, so we have multiple threats on multiple levels. we have threat of the torrential rain and frequent lightening. i have turned lightening off because it gives better depicts where these cells are moving. sometimes they can block things a bit. you can see all of the lightening within these cells trying to track to thee, some to the southe, but quite a bit of activity mainly concentrated north of center city philadelphia but we have one severe thunderstorm warning for central delaware and if we see, destabilization we could in fact see more storms firing up very quickly
5:56 pm
and our tornado warning is no longer present. it looks like cancelled tornado warning for berks, chester, montgomery, national weather service saying rotation weakened so tornado warning has been cancelled. that is great news. >> great news. >> excellent news. >> we are still dealing with strong weather and wouldn't rule out a possibility of an additional tornado warning as these cells are showing history. we have seen two cells showing a history of rotation. really will have to keep weather aware over next several hours as we contend with the severe thunderstorm activity. delaware valley does remain under severe thunderstorm watch until 9:00. stay on guard until 9:00 tonight. >> tornado warning have expired. >> yes, which is good news here, lauren, thanks very much for keeping us updated and keeping everyone safe. hopefully everyone is safe out there. we will continue to monitor any of the damage that those storms left behind. >> it has been a interesting afternoon we started this at 5:15, 10 after 5:00 kicked in and things became stronger but
5:57 pm
as lauren mentioned things are calming down but please be aware of severe weather probably in some of your neighborhood, always be careful. keep safety in mind. >> we have been following a lot of breaking news today, i want to get everyone caught up who has been watching at home, we have been following weather , caught up on that, and we are following disappearance of the four young men in bucks county, and person of interest in that case. cosmo dinardo while on the air , for participating, and that is big news. that is big news in the case we have been following. you'll remember out in bucks county, you can see authorities there have never seen an investigation of this magnitude. they have been out, on the family's farm, they have been bringing in excavation equipment, digging up concrete , they have been on this now for days. so this is a major development in that case that has been unfolding over the last few
5:58 pm
days. >> from what i understand confession came as dinardo was walking from the courtroom. so this may be on camera, but bottom line is he has confessed. he has confessed. a lot of people have questions every where you go people are talking about this tragic case how dit happen? how everyone was all connect a lot of questions, a lot of answers and hopefully we will get some of those within the coming hours and coming days. we are going to continue our coverage of the weather, and the confession all that and more coming up "eyewitness news" at 6:00 begins,,
