"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao is live where we have learned that victims are her mother and her daughter? >> reporter: rahel, good morning, i just spoke to police, they laid out a violent, tragic scene here in south philadelphia that unfolded overnight, we have learned that it was a mother and daughter involved in this double stabbing, that is now a homicide investigation, mother , dead and daughter in

the hospital in critical condition and police still searching for a suspect that suspect daughter's 25 year-old boyfriend and a ex-boyfriend we hear new to was upset with her breaking up with him. take a lot video at police on the scene all morning long. they are here in the 2700 block of daily terrace in south philadelphia this morning. ale this violence unfolded right around 2:00 a.m., the dirty one are 21 year-old is now in critical condition and under going surgery. second woman mother 48, stabbed multiple times, she was talking to police when they first arrived. she was taken to hahnemann hospital in critical condition at first, police thought she would survive but then 90 minutes late sheer died there at the hospital. now, the search is on for a killer, lets take a listen. >> preliminary information is, that the 21 year-old female and her 48 year-old mother were both stabbed by the same

person a 25 year-old male, who is still the boyfriend of the 21 year-old female. he's actually reported to be the ex-boyfriend because we're getting information that the 21 year-old female broke up with him just a few days ago and that made him unhappy, and that may be what motivated this double stabbing. >> reporter: police know that suspect's name, they know his last known address, they are still searching for him this morning, and he has been arrested in the past. meantime live on the scene you can see police are still working the scene, bloody scene stretches from inside the house to the outside and we are told that they are interviewing eyewitnesses. we are told there was a witness inside at the time that this all happened and that person was not injured, so this is still a developing story but again a mother and daughter stabbed here in south philadelphia, that mother dead , the daughter is in critical condition under going surgery this morning in the hospital. we are reporting live from south philadelphia, jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness

news", rahel, back to you. senator john mccain received devastating news in a diagnosis of brain cancer. eighty year-old senator underwent a procedure to remove a blood clot on friday when doctors found the tumor. he was looking into treatments including chemotherapy and radiation. his friends say he is in high spirits. more coverage coming up at 5:30. big decision to make today members will deciding whether to decide to release o.j. simpson from prison. cbs news correspondent chris martinez is live with more on is what next for the hall of fame football star, good morning, chris. >> reporter: good morning, rahel. this hearing shouldn't take too long, it will last about 35 minutes, to maybe an hour and by the end of today o.j. simpson will know when, and if , he will be a freeman. o.j. simpson will appear in his parole hearing in carson city through video conferencing. nfl hall of famer has served

nine years forearmed robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers in a las vegas hotel room. today will personally appeal for his release. >> what they want to hear is i'm sorry. >> reporter: legal analyst laurie levinson has covered simpson since he was charged and it this era quitted of the 1994 double murder of his ex- wife nicole brown simpson and her friend ron goldman. >> fit doesn't fit you must acquit. >> reporter: that murder trial can be considered by parole board in this case, they will instead evaluate simpson's behavior in prison, his age and when could be a risk to the public. the board is expected to hear from people supporting simpson 's release including one of his robbery victims but experts say board members have likely already made their decisions. in 2013, the same board granted simpson parole on some of the charges, but he still needed to serve four more years, to reach his minimum time behind bars. how surprised would you be if he was not granted parole. >> if he is not granted parole

year-old will be held this morning. his body was found last week on the solebury township farm. services for other three victims start tonight and continue in the weekend. cousins cosmo dinardo and sean kratz have been charged in the murders. authorities say motive for the murders may have been drug deals go bad. and it is sentencing day foreman who confessed to shooting a delaware county police officer last sunday. dahntay island faces 140 years in prison after his guilty plea and the attempted murder of folcroft officer chris dorman. investigators say island shot dorman seven times in june of last year just after being released from a 15 year prison sentence. officer dorman is new back on the job. philadelphia will get a temporary d.a. today to replace seth williams. thirteen candidates interviewed for interim position at city hall yesterday. the appointe will serve until either republican beth grossman or democrat larry krasner takes over in january, and those two will face off in the november general election. seth williams is in jail until the sentencing hearing in october on federal corruption
