down the shore ocean breeze may help a little as we look live in ocean city, so many people are out, and that may help a little but it is hot across the region our excessive heat warning stretches into its second day. wouldn't you like to be there about now. i'm rahel solomon. jim's off today. once again it will feel like triple digits so is any relief in sight. lets get to katie fehlinger with the answer tracking the excessive heat from the cbs-3 weather center, katie. >> in short answer rahel, there will be relife but it will take a while.

we have to deal with handful of days that top off in the 90 's. today is one of them. that excessive heat is definitely making it feel uncomfortable outside. we will start off by taking you out first to the excessive heat warning that continues, for, again, its second day here. right now it is including philadelphia, surrounding vicinity and it will feel as hot as 102 from now right through the height of the afternoon, which is about 4:00 f the year. so heat advisory do also extend out for maryland, long island but rest of the region technically not included in one. keep in mind we still feel hot , already. lancaster, trenton where we're not necessarily included, in that excessive heat warning, so even down toward dover it is starting to feel as hot as upper 90's and pine land areas 98 current heat index in millville, of all places. storm scan is empty, however, we are expecting that this heat wave will continue, and also potential forstrom i weather to come with it. it is somewhat extreme weather for our area.

not all that atypical but we are expecting, so far, longest heat wave of the year to last us, seven straight days but coming up there is a drop off that will drop off and you saw those question marks at end of the graphic. i will let you know how low it will drop off later in the show. >> thank you, katie. fire fighters in south jersey continue to battle a forest fire, smoke affect the coastline. chopper three over wharton state for necessary washington township, burlington county. flames have consume about a thousand acres. fire fighters say they have contained 60 percent of the blaze and lets take a look, satellite image from our weather radar. you can see smoke traveling toward the coastline and affecting beach in long forward. beach goers can expect haze, and a sense of smoke. here is a look at smokey conditions around hamilton mall in mays landing atlantic county. haze filling sky here this was courtesy of pwpgg, a local radio station n homes or road

have been throat end and causes unknown. woman was found stabbed this morning inside of her montgomery county home and her daughter was one who called police. "eyewitness news" reporter alycia nieves ace the home in schwanksville with the very latest, alycia? >> reporter: well, rahel authorities aren't investigating the death here as suspicious they are currently talking to the daughter who said she found perfect mother dead in the home just behind me in montgomery county earlier this morning. her mother was apparently stabbed at least one time in the chest, and the mother's death inside this home on abby lane in schwanksville happened sometime before 3:00 because a little after 3:00 when authorities were called here, when they received the 911 call from a woman, that adult daughter, who said she discovered her 54 year-old mother's body. no word on if the adult daughter lived with the mother and if not why she came to the home at 3:00 a.m. authorities are interviewing the daughter right now and they are investigating this death as this time as suspicious. crime scene has been combing

his caretaker. neighbors tell "eyewitness news" man killed had been paralyzed after being shot years ago. >> his mother was always, you know, taking care, helping him out, and he had, people on this block they knew he was a good guy. >> police say victim's 51 year-old caretaker was shot trying to runaway. police say he is in stable condition at temple hospital. victim's mother and four children in the house were not hurt. well to day is funeral for one of the victims of the recent bucks county killings. jimi patrick from newtown was murdered by cosmo dinardo after a drug transaction gone wrong. two memorial services were held earlier in the week. patrick's family will receive condolence at church of saint andrew in newtown fooled by a funeral mass. two of the others were laid to to rest yesterday. saint anslam church in the northeast. other news this noon u.s. attorney general jeff sessions is in philadelphia, to speak about so-called sanctuary cities and what his justice department plans to do about them. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is live at u.s. attorneys office in olde city with the break down of attorney general's speech, hi there, david. >> reporter: hi rahel. attorney general sessions is in the building behind me having run watch some small groups finishing up meetings, and here to talk about sanctuary cities but also crime as we heard from those last few stories. not only crime in fail but around the country. sessions walk out to several groups today, two meetings, one with assa and second with local law enforcement. we saw law enforcement from bucks county, delaware county, montgomery county and commissioner ross and other members of the philadelphia police department. now, speaking of, sanctuary cities, a sanctuary city we hear that word, a sanctuary city as defined is essentially a city that allow immigrant

that air temperature and that comes in the form of high humidity. hugh dew points comes that moisture content and that makes it feel steamy. turf say maybe not as harsh, humidity as what we ended up yesterday but it is still hot and you do need to take care out in this and as we have shown you, or at lee earlier in the show excessive heat warning still in effect. we will take you out first and foremost to talk about the statistics where we currently stan, how many 90-degree days have we seen so far. this month along nine of them hit 90 or above this year. eighteen, and last year ace whole we had 46 days at 90 or above. we are clearly in the quite that close, to, your standard but we're definitely creeping up at lee to the average, and lots of summer left to go. storm scan three all calm, clear, however with time what we will find, into tomorrow, specifically possibility of a couple showers or very heavy thunderstorm. we will be sitting for most part regional wide, in a slight risk for severe weather

lee dryer wind flow, it is not helping to cool you off that much but it is, easing up the war of the heat index but that too can still spike as high as 102 degrees this afternoon. do keep that in mind upper 90 's not much better, not triple digits here but both tomorrow and sunday also feature high humidity and temperature begins to gradual ly drop. looking for a place to beat the heat? obviously go to the shore. make sure umbrella with you too because it is very steamy and certainly that sunnies scorching out there this afternoon but 93 is call for oaks city this afternoon, and then, we will start to see things cool off gradually slowly but surely every where with time by tuesday we will finally catch a break but it is looking like, again we will have stormy weather to deal with throughout the course of the weekend and hit or miss storm on monday and then we will just cut pattern off at the path, we have seen temperatures drop off, definitely cooler, still warm but feel like 85 and sunshine after this stretch is going to feel like early spring to us.
