right now at 11:00, a creepy crawly situation. where septa commuters are having encounters with spiders. but first another stormy night across the region. thunderstorms pack high winds and heavy rains. flash flooding remains a concern in some areas. i'm jessica dean. ukee washington has the night off. all across the area there have also been several reports of damage caused by the storms. eyewitness news in white marsh township montgomery county where a large tree fell on a home. authorities say the house sustained minor damage and fortunately nobody was hurt. we go now to meteorologist chelsea ingram and also what we can expect over the next few hours. >> we are still monitoring this very strong line of storms that push through the lehigh valley, we have some severe thunderstorm warnings that have been issued, atlantic county, cumberland

count kent county in delaware and also salem county in new jersey. we're dealing with heavy downpours, torrential rains, we're dealing with winds in excess of 60 miles per hour. so as you can see torrential downpours and this continues to push off to the east. this is going to be heading toward atlantic city so heads up for you folks down there. things have quieted down and we have some flood waters, a flash flood warning remains in effect through 1:45 a.m. this is right near the junaita golf club. if you live in this location, remember turn around, don't drown. the storm reports keep rolling in, even a funnel cloud reported earlier this afternoon.

i'll have more coming up. >> spiders are beginning to bother commuters. eyewitness news reporter henry rosoof is live with details. henry? >> reporter: jessica, the spiders like to spin their webs in and around light fixtures like this one and the problem has gotten to the point where septa is now taking action. >> they're pretty big. maybe 2-3 inches. >> reporter: well known to emerge as the sun begins to set, these spiders don't mind hanging with work-weary travelers. >> it's really bad if you're sitting here and not paying attention they'll be in your face before you know it. >> reporter: there's so much buzz around the spiders that septa is taking action. a spokesman says an exterminator

sprayed last week. he also says employees have been cleaning light fixtures. >> i was helping the septa guy because he was short and i'm tall. >> reporter: and earlier in the day well before nightfall we did notice particularly clean light fixtures and only a few smaller, dead spiders. though he's skeptual things have improved. >> they should be hiding now but i don't know. i don't think so. >> reporter: septa says the extermination effort will continue and says no one has reported being bitten by these spiders, but i can say yeah, they're a little creepy. >> fair enough, henry. thanks so much. the woman convicted of abducting a 7-week-old baby from the king of prussia mall back in 2016 will spend up to 7 years in

state when the mother became distracted she took the infant. senate republicans have yet to find a consensus on a health care bill overhaul and president trump is pressuring them to stay in washington until they do. david spunt is live in our sat center with details on that. >> reporter: the president is calling out members of his own party tonight warning them to vote to dismantle the afford able care act. president trump says the clock is ticking when it comes to dismantling the afford able care act, also known as obama care. he spoke before a group of children he calls victims of obama care. >> the american people have

waited long enough. there's been enough talk. >> reporter: trump announced a vote tuesday, another attempt by his administration to dismannedle obama care. >> that means voting to kick off a robust debate in which senators from all parties can represent the views of their constituents. >> reporter: but republican senators are not yet leer about the particulars of the bill. moderate senator sue is an collins from maine opposes cuts and she says she won't vote for a repeal without a replacement. >> i don't think it's a good approach to face the leth slaths that affects millions of people and 1/6 of our committee. >> reporter: rand paul from kentucky says he's only voting yes on a clean repeal bill. >> the problem is republicans can't seem to agree on what replacement means. >> reporter: hours after his announcement from the white house, the president spoke to boy scouts in west virginia where he sarcastically turned up the heat on health and human services secretary tom price.

>> by the way, are you going to get the votes? he better get them. otherwise i'll say "tom, you're fired sclsh". >> reporter: john mccain is receiving treatment for brain cancer but we learned he will be back in washington for the vote. david spunt, cbs3 eyewitness news. >> david, thank you. jared kushner spent hours testifying before the senate intelligence committee today about his contacts with russia. president trump's son-in-law and senior adviser is the first white house employee to be grilled. before the closed-door hearing kushner released an 11-page statement detailing four meetings with russians during the campaign and transition. kushner rarely speaks to the media but he spoke after his hearing today. >> let me be very clear. i did not collude with russia. nor do i know of anyone else in the campaign who did so.

the record and documents i have voluntarily provided will show that all of my actions were proper and occurred in the normal course of events of a very unique campaign. >> kushner is scheduled to talk with house staffers tomorrow as the investigation into russian meddling in the election continues. more than a week after a couple is killed in frankforward, their family and friends are fair families file charges. 45-year-old and 42-year-old august dempsey were shot to death after getting into a dispute with their next door neighbor. police say the neighbor admitted to shooting them because they tried to scale his fence. dempsey got more than 5,000 signatures in a petition and are calling for the da's office to fire murder charges. >> it's not self-defense, it's strictly murder. >> now he thinks he's got away with something. a young man and he shoots and i

was afraid again. >> dempsey's sons have an attorney and they hope with this petition they can get justice for their mother. police say 37-year-old jose lebron shot a woman last week and threatened to shoot officers as they arrived on scene. as a result seven officers opened fire on him including four philadelphia police officers and three septa police officers. the intense moments unfolded in the 400 block of east somerset street. lebron has recovered from his injuries and now faces a list of charges including attempted murder. police in full croft want residents to be aware. they say these surveillance photos show a man using a swimming device at a beneficial bank. police say the device was placed on the machine between july 1st and 2nd and again on july 8th and 9th. if you have any information, call police. kelly hodge was sworn in today as the interim

philadelphia district attorney. hodge took the oath of office, becoming the first african-american woman to serve as district attorney in philadelphia. she has more than 20 years' experience and she will complete the second term of former district attorney seth williams who resigned after pleading guilty to federal corruption charges. hodge will served until the newly elected da takes office in 2018. the dog days are summer, but for eagles fans their sights are set on the fall. the birds are back as training camp is officially under way in south philly. don bell is back with a suit now. >> polo gone, the suit is on. >> summer vacation is a wrap and it's time to get ready for the fall. after nearly 7 months the eagles are officially back to work. >> when i close my eyes i go to sleep. when i need to sleep, i sleep. >> reporter: some rookies are nervous on day 1 of training camp, but not matt collins.

some students had a soggy night at rowan. this is a video from chopper 3 as the fire department pumped thousands of gallons of water out of the dormitory. eight students were forced to evacuate. the director of health and safety at the university says the damage was confined to the basement. >> water that came in was enormous. seeing 5 inches overnight is something that nobody is prepared for. >> the university expects the dorm to be up and running again by early september. officials say the fire that burned 3,500 acres of the wharton state forest fire in new jersey was started by a lightning strike. investigators believe a pine tree caught fire and the fire was spread before firefighters noticed. that fire is fully contained. could your dna help you lose weight? a new company called embody dna thinks so.

in order to snag fast food fashion, you have to order mcdonald's through the uber eats app this wednesday. a fishing crew off the coast of new jersey had a huge surprise when they reeled in a 926 pound mako shark. the boat's crew was fishing about 150 miles off the coast near hudson canyon saturday. new jersey officials say this shark is the biggest catch in the state's history. hudson canyon is populated by a number of large fish and has been the site of many record catches. that's big. chelsea is going to join us now to take a look at the forecast and also we've had a lot of this rain that's kind of making its way through the area. >> that's right more severe storms and things have settled

down. delaware communities and neighborhoods and down into south jersey we are tracking more storms. this is the same line that pushed through center city earlier this evening and we have some severe thunderstorm warnings at this hour including atlantic county, cumberland, kent and salem counties. this is until 11:30 and the main thing we're dealing with here, 60 mile per hour wind gusts. also you can see plenty of lightning and torrential downpours across the region. we're dealing with torrential downpours located just east of route 13, east of dover into delaware on up towards bridgeton in new jersey. all of this is heading toward places like laurel lake, morris river, heads up to you goeks. you're going to be getting some of this severe weather heading your way very soon. things have quieted down in the city, perhaps some light rain near philadelphia but quiet with the storms pushing to our south

and east, however there are flood waters moving through the creek area in a portion of the city that's why we have a flash flood warning that's been issued until about 1:45 a.m. this includes areas right around the junata golf club. if you live within this part of town, remember, turn around downtown drown. the official high temperature was 88 degrees. seasonable this time of year, the average high was 87. we're down to 70 around philadelphia thanks to the rain storm. 75 in wilmington, down the shore in wildwood right around 74 degrees. 70 in reading around 73 degrees in lancaster. we're dealing with elevated dew points and it seems like i'm a broken record because we've had such humid air that's what's allowed for these extreme downpours. we're going to get a break from the humidity as soon as

tomorrow. those dew points are going to lower. both tuesday and wednesday feeling much better. and then we'll start to see them creeping back up as we head into thursday. it will start to feel a little bit more steamy by the end of the week. a fantastic job with modeling out the moenl for these storms throughout the evening hours and tonight we'll see them pushing offshore as we head into about 1:00, 2:00 in the morning and things really quieting down as we head into tomorrow morning we can see a lingering shower, we'll have a good amount of cloud cover to start your day but also a couple of breaks of sunshine heading into the afternoon but generally much quiter weather as we head into tuesday that is good news. down the shore here's what you can expect. temperatures in the lower 80s, plenty of sunshine on wednesday and a shower or thunderstorm as we head into thursday with a high of 82. forecast low temperature, mostly cloudy, shower or storm areas south and east of philadelphia. a high temperature right around 82 degrees.
