room. >> reporter: montgomery county district attorney kevin steel says surveillance images show travis sota moving in and out of the einstein medical center sell different drugs to sierra hadrick, five times in five days. >> two bags of heroin, for $20 , one bag of heroin, ten dollars. ativan pill toss sierra for ten dollars. more ativan and one bag of heroin for ten dollars. instead of delivering heroin, sota delivered what we later learned was pure fentanyl, 40 to 50 times more deadly, then the deadly drug heroin. by delivering this poison, travis sota killed sierra. >> reporter: steel said sota is fourth person charged this year in montgomery count which drug delivery resulting in death. he says it is a charge we should get used to seeing with more and more opioid based fentanyl on the streets. >> this is deadly stuff. so, so we're looking at these

cases and it is a lot easier for toxicologist and forensic pathologist to look at these cases and say fentanyl, that was the cause of death. >> reporter: i asked and spokesmen for einstein told me happies reevaluating its visitor policy in light of what happened in this case. live, henry rossoff for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thank you very much. tonight allentown married he had pawlowski and former reading mayor vaughn spencer are facing federal corruption charges. government unsealed and indictment against men and three alleged coconspirators this morning. it alleged pawlowski and vaughn used their offices for personal, political gain, they have accused, they are accused of taking part in the elaborate pay to play schemes. >> pawlowski and spencer essentially put a for sale sign up in front of the city hall, in reading and in allentown to sell their office and their services, to the highest bidder.

>> mayor pawlowski and former mayor spencer are facing charges including bribery and fraud, 11 other defendants have already pleaded guilty in connection with this case. tonight pawlowski vowed to fight those charges while staying on the job as mayor. "eyewitness news" reporter alycia nieves joins us in allentown with that part of the coverage, alycia. >> reporter: jessica, mayor of allentown a little while ago proclaimed he is completely innocent saying only thing he has done wrong was trust michael fleck. he ran his campaign and ran campaign of the former mayor of reading. he is one man that seems to connect these two mayors accused of corruption. another case of corruption begins public officials in pennsylvania, this time acting united states attorney lewis l.a.vin announced an indictment on the former mayor of reading vaughn spencer and current mayor of allentown ed pawlowski. >> the a indictment is alleged that the marry petely abused the trust of the citizens of allentown and reading.

>> reporter: two mayors are dealing with dozens of counts of bribery, fraud charges, for trading city contracts in exchange for campaign funds. >> pawlowski and spencer essentially put a for sale sign up in front of the city hall. >> reporter: federal government has already taken down 11 people. >> francis dougherty. >> reporter: some are also former city officials. >> marry ellen cobbalt. >> reporter: all pled guilty against corruption against two mayors. >> all of the alleged corruption in both of these indictments, serious, damage to the integrity of the systems. >> reporter: we tried reaching former mayor of reading at his home but no answer and since part of his scheme involved rebecca acosta and energy saving contract for city schools we reached out to the district. it says those contracts have been since rescinded. in allentown accused married he had pawlowski held a press conference. >> integrity is incredibly

important and i hate that it is in question. >> reporter: allentown mayor's news conference this afternoon was met by a charged crowd of city citizens. >> i have done nothing wrong, nor have i ever personally accepted a dime beyond my salary as mayor. i have also never accepted anything from legal campaign contributions. >> reporter: despite city council members here in allentown calling for the mayor to resign he says he is not going to do that. in fact he will continue with the campaign for reelection. reporting live from allentown, alycia nieves for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". now this is a story we first told but on "eyewitness news" at 5:00 elevated levels of bacteria in the ocean are leading officials to close beaches at the new jersey shore. most of the closures are in atlantic county, including several spots in atlantic city , somers point and vend nor. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan was in ventnor earlier and spoke about what is causing this problem. >> reporter: red flags and beach closed signs on the life

guard stand in ventnor as beach goers were told that the ocean is off limits. >> they told to us get out of the water, because it is dirty i am like that is nice. >> reporter: health officials issued high bacteria advisory and ordered closures in several beaches, prompting the city to shut down every beach. bacteria counts are as a result of the recent weather. >> it is thought to be as a result of the heavy rain that was seen on sunday evening. >> reporter: statewide there are more than 30 advisories and three closures on tuesday, new testing on wednesday lowered number of advisory to four but increased closures to 15 beaches including atlantic city, ventnor and somers point >> thinks a filtration technique. >> reporter: the atlantic county utilities authority's val waits water on a daily basis looking for a specific type of bacteria that indicates the presence of more dangerous varieties. >> since they were present in the digestive systems of

warm-blooded animals, the presence of these may indicate the presence of certain pathogens. >> reporter: they are looking to see how high concentration of bacteria ills in the water caused by animal feces washing in the ocean avenue major rain storms. >> i can't believe i was in it >> reporter: officials say you can get stomach illness is and rashes, which why is there is no swimming and unfortunately for soon to be 10 year-old bianca, no using the board that she got for her birthday. >> i was sad because i didn't get to go in the water witt. >> reporter: health officials say in general high bacteria levels because of rain events only last for a couple days and officials here in ventnor say they will reevaluate on thursday but conservatively don't expect to be in the what the year noon. in ventnor cleve bryan, for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". today president trump announced plan to reinstate ban on transgendered individual from serving in any capacity in the u.s. military. in a series of tweets, the

president gave his reasons, as quote the tremendous medical costs and disruption that trans genders in the military will entail. plans to allow transgender people to enlist, but defense secretary james mattis gave his military chiefs a six month delay. the city of philadelphia's office of lb gt affairs released a statement on the decision and says ban violates the civil rights of thousands of transgendered troops currently serving in the military and in philadelphia we will continue to fight back to ensure people of trans experience have every possible right and protection under the law. stay tuned for the "cbs evening news" with anthony mason for much more on this transgendered military ban, that is coming up at 6:30 right here on cbs-3. and the action on day three of the eagles training camp wasn't all on the field, bird making some personnel decision is today as well. sports director don bell, he is live in south philadelphia at the novacare complex with more on what is happening out there, don.

doctor's office on the healthwatch a fail doctor who is keeping up with her patients, on facebook and instagram. >> health reporter stephanie stahl has more on the sign of the times. >> reporter: for sure. lots of people share their lives on social media, what they eat, where they go, all that kind of stuff this doctor figured it would be a good way to check on her patient toss help keep them healthy. doctor vicky barlow is checking up on her patients on social media, here on instagram seeing a patient at a concert suggesting ear protection in case music gets crazy loud. >> i'm trying to find different ways to reach out to my patients. >> reporter: society hill doctor says social media provides a more comprehensive view of how her patients live, and covers more than usually gets discussed with in person visits. >> social media is a great way to comment on is what going on in peoples lives at that time which is very important i think. in the moment. >> reporter: there are plenty of pictures of food, ongoing commentary like frozen yogurt

it looks ominous but those cloud will not produce any storm activity at least as we head into tonight but storms certainly have been the trend as has wet weather and we are nearing 5 inches of rainfall for just the month of july in philadelphia running an inch and a half above average as far as monthly rainfall. we will add to that tally as we head into friday but for right now feeling cool. 78 degrees, running 10 degrees below average, bit have the breeze kick up out of the southe, easterly component keeping us cooler then average , not too humid but we have a touch of a heat index feeling like 80 degrees. temperatures in the 70's and 60's on the board. pretty rare for late july. 68 degrees in pound pocono. we have sea breeze. seventy's in ocean city. cool day at the shore 73 in stone harbor. seventy-three in cape may. humidity levels are not too oppressive we are in the not bad category across much of the delaware val which dew points generally hanging out

around 60 degrees and lower 60 's. storm scan three showing us quiet conditions, clouds around but as far as radar returns, no rainfall to be had and if we keep things quiet tonight, partly to mostly cloudy, 67 degrees with dry air in place we will cool more efficiently so dropping back below average. for our thirst mostly cloudy conditions, chance of isolated thunder shower but fairly quiet day with a high of 85 degrees. we will start off with sunshine patchy cloud at 7:00 and then clouding over once again as we head into the day 79 for your lunch hour and chance of the isolated thunder shower into late day high temperatures topping in the middle 80's. as we head into friday things getting active, period of heavy rainfall into midday, afternoon, evening hours, could see embedded stronger thunderstorms and with the heavier rainfall we have that flash flooding threat that will be across the area as we head into friday and friday night and also across the area we have a marginal risk of

severe weather. lehigh valley, berks county, suburbs, i-95 corridor south jersey and shore. corn cape may county in slight risk as we head into friday as well as southern parts of the delaware so be sure to stay wet's wear for last day of the workweek but just enjoying tons of sunshine as we head into sunday big time improvement, great weather for all of your outdoor plans, very low humidity values by late summer standard and a high of 84 degrees and we will go on a nice sunny stretch. we will see sunshine coming out as early as saturday afternoon, after a lingering showers, early in the morning but then beautiful conditions for much of the weekend, even monday, tuesday we will begin august 1st sunshine comfortable and 88 degrease. not too bad to start off that month which can be hot and steamy. >> no kidding. >> thanks, lauren. day three of the training cam in south philadelphia, lets send it out to sports director don bell keeping an eye on things, hi there, don.
