call this is the grim cam. our engineer dave grim set this up way atop our station here in center city overlooking liberty place. just couple of patchy white clouds here and, there obviously bright sunlight. other than couple of shadows being cause by the clouds, beautiful start to the afternoon. meanwhile, let's go to another camera shot. once more, i mean, on repeat here. with all of these hundreds of umbrellas lining the beach here at boardwalk plaza, and in rehoboth. again, virtually have no cloud cover whatsoever. so if you are going to join these fine folks, i highly suggest sun block the rest of the day. and that possibility after shower or thunderstorm is certainly still out there. but, it is so isolate that most of you will very likely stay rain-free throughout the rest of the day. let's look elsewhere, go back to storm scan, little wider zoom for you. yep, here you go, tail ends of the loop. see that? that's what we may face later this afternoon, so all again very, very spotty. but you can see the tell tail lightning already firing up. this is pretty far north of i 08 up toward the i84 area for the most part, really, but this could migrate little further to the south and east,

as the afternoon progresses, now, here's a much wider zoom to take a look what's left, you can even still see little minor rotation or modest rotation with this storm system. and, again, it is still a depression, we will get to the track in a second. in addition, you have another system that's working it way across the southern, south central planes, will eventually make it trek east as well. we will see frontal passage by the weekend as we had mentioned in the weekend watch and that's where we actually start to break this very summer like pattern. meantime all we will do from now through friday is build heat, build humidity, and also see more widespread showers and thunderstorms develop through the afternoon and evenings. so tropical depression emily. here she sits. moving out to sea. what's good is that it continues and maintains this northeasterly track t won't even hit cape hatteras area, so the outer banks here, of the carolina coastline or enshelter fresh this, now granted you'll see some rougher surf pick up. take a look, basically moving almost like this right-hand turn. so if we had any choppy surf

at all, i would be shocked at this point. but toward the tail end of the week, if perhaps there is a stronger rip, risk for rip current, you always want to swim near the lifeguards anyway. but make sure you're taking extra care to be smart and safe when you go into the waves here in the next couple of days. the comfort index, we talk about the dew point, really not all that bad. we are going to gradually see those dew point climbing with every passing day, getting steamier, and steamier with every passing afternoon here. again, that's just as we build up the heat build up the humidity in the atmosphere, today toasty but don't have the humidity. with the westerly wind flow, very light it, feels granted hot, but not all that intolerable. later tonight we drop to 72, showers or thunderstorms wrap up for the evening, then we either flirt with or hit 90 for the next three days, by saturday the front crossing through. and we clear it out for beautiful looking weather sunday. >> love that. can't beat it. thank you, katie. >> well you have probably heard of adopt a highway programs, volunteers pick up

trash on the roadway. >> one part -- one part of the country using similar tactic to beautify their city. in today's love it. >> that's right, hundreds of volunteers step to up help clean up the lansing, michigan , in return they get to claim little piece of the city all to themselves and for neighbors to enjoy. take a look. >> it is called adopt a spot program. while traveling through the capitol city, would you most likely notice its unique charm , fun and exciting place for people to live, work, and visit. it is all about the details, like pretty flowers in the summer, or nice landscaping in the spring. and it is all made possible by volunteers. like robert oval. >> it is important for me to have our city be looked at as a clean place to live. >> the program provides organizations and individuals, the opportunity to choose an area downtown. and then create a flower or a rain garden of their choice.

>> about a half hour we spends first thing in the morning, and we pull the weeds, and pick up the trash, and make sure that it looks great for the next few weeks. >> it gives community members a chance to give back to the city. and own a little piece of the land they both live and work in. all at the same time. >> the program coordinator says with the hundreds of flower beds and rain gardens up for grabs, downs town lansing has become one of the largest urban rain garden project in the country, which simply means, the plant absorb rain off from the nearby roofs and helps to cut down on pollution and makes the city look beautiful. win-win for everybody. >> i love this. >> because you have green thumb. >> and i have planters in the city, i live in old city, i put them out on the street, everything is concrete. we need to soften the landscape of the sit. >> i and owning it, too, so you take vested interest in it then, you know, the environment, as well. >> because whether you beautiful your physical area it, makes you feel a lot bet
