12:20 pm
detail in a second but let me just go back if time for you here and we'll take a look at what ended up happening yesterday. a couple damage reports did come in for us and this is not an exhaustive list but it does give you an idea of what ended up happening. parts of montgomery county, burlington, mount laurel, there was a structure fire. there were numerous lightning strikes that led to fires yesterday from the storms. out in vineland wires came down and again, it wasn't necessarily due to any wind driven storms but because there was so much rain, the flash flooding helped to bring down a lot of tree limbs and we saw major travel delays as a result of that incredibly blinding rain out of those storms. now, at the moment, all clear. does it stay this way? no. eventually we'll start to see these showers and storms refire and it's primarily just because we're on the back edge of a large dome of high pressure which is out to sea right now so you get that clockwise spin around the high drawing in the warmth, drawing in that high humidity as well so a moisture laden air mass. and that means that anything that bubbles up out there could be drenching.
12:21 pm
so, typically summer air masses can hold a heck of a lot more moisture because the warmer the air the more moisture it can hold. 2:00 p.m. on future weather i think we'll start to see some activity even as early as an hour from now but it really just comes through in speckles. we don't all get hit by this but notice verifying location-wise north philadelphia could get slammed with that drenching rain as the typical afternoon and evening rush is getting under way. yeah, this could be a pretty rough commute for some of you depending where you have travels take you. later tonight lauren might have something to track at 11 o'clock tonight on "eyewitness news" but for the most part things will have wound down, it's mainly an afternoon evening issue and then it starts to clear out of here. dewpoints at the moment, remember the higher that dewpoint the more moisture there is to work with, the lower the dewpoint the better the hair day typically. it means nice dry air in place. we don't have that right now. i'll tell you this much though. having been on the sky deck, it's warm but it's not insufferable. it's definitely a little steamy but it's tolerable at

the moment and it is august. you sort of expect this. outside we go to one of our live neighborhood network cameras where the beach is starting to fill up a little bit here outside of beach patrol headquarters in margate one of those beaches that is still opened right now in this area and you've got bright sunshine reflecting off the open ocean water there right now and we'll keep it for the better part of the day i think at the shore. that's one spot where you very likely don't have much wet weather to deal with. showers and storms are for the most place going to take place further inland. bayside it will be warmer than 75. back in the city as we had mentioned earlier in the show 89 is the expectation for a daytime high. that's a little bit above average only a degree or two. showers and thunderstorms continue into the evening but they should wrap up after the sun has gone down or at least into the overnight. we drop down to 71 degrees, warm, muggy a good excuse to have the air conditioner running. we look ahead at the weekend. that's when that front crosses through. early saturday morning, yeah, showers or thunderstorms come through but most of the day
