precipitation, but overall, this is ocean city. this is a live picture from our camera down there, on the board walk. you can see, we're not seeing any rain currently right now in the ocean city area. now, there is still cloud cover out there, little bit after hint of sunshine on the horizon, we have about four minute until the sun officially comes up. 6:04 is our sunrise today. so, again, while it is cloudy out, there still dry at the shore for a lot of the southern areas, but again, couple of showers not completely down across the area, just yet. storm scan3, shows all of the precipitation that rolled through, starting around 3:00 this morning, here in philly. and then, it has been slowly tracking across central new jersey, the heaviest rain now up toward new york city, and five borrows, but still see maybe around toms river, moderate rainfall, just off the coastline south of the toms river area. that's where we're still seeing, again, moderate to heavy rainfall. back down toward southwestern part of south jersey see moving into far northern cape may county, some light showers

there. and we could continue to see atlantic county getting in on some of the activity, as women for the most part, though, i really don't think our southern shore point get too much in the way of precipitation here early on in the day. and then, once the front goes through, only seeing sunshine later this afternoon. temperatures right now, seeing 60s, philly, northward. we see still some 70s out there, in southern new jersey, and back down toward delaware, as well, because the front hasn't quite made it way there , and also have not seen any precipitation. so across the shore point, barnegat, 69, stone harbor, 74 this morning, rehoboth coming in at 76. getting a lock at the regional forecast, not going to get to zero nine today in philly. actually looking at the 80s, down the shore, plenty of sunshine for us, same for the poconos and jan it looks like our sunday will be even better than today. talk about that in just a bit. >> about big thank you, matt peterson. >> right, that doesn't come too much, a big thank from jan jan carabeo.

>> mark it down, matt. >> time to check the roads, over to amanda mueller, good morning. >> good morning, jan, not much to say right now except what a mess. things are starting to clear out on the roadways, but certainly not an easy drive no matter where were you headed this morning, the traffic headaches still not over yet. taking a live look at 76 eastbound, at the conshohocken curve, down to only the right lane due to construction, crews looking -- crews are working through the morning despite the unpleasant weather conditions. traffic moving slowly there, start at city line, lasts all the way up to the blue route. also large puddle near belmont causing a accident already this morning, so, pack your patience, as i say. moving now to bethlehem pike, where we have an accident investigation, that whole rode is closed has been for several hours this morning, crews on the scene, there as you can see, all lanes block, your best bet to use cow path road to taylor road to get around that this morning. live look at 59 at broad street, i wanted to bring this up to show we are dealing with slow speeds on major roadways, more volume than unusual,

traffic moving much slower do your to the puddle in the roadways, so, slow down, give yourselves extra time to get where you need to be this morning. in the cbs-3 traffic center. a.m. and doo a mueller, back to you: -- amanda mueller. >> three people are in the hospital this morning. bullet casings littered the streets there at fourth and walnut streets in darby where the shooting happened around 10:45 last night. two of the victims are now in critical condition. the other person is in stable condition. there is no word on a suspect. >> a car is struck and killed a pedestrian in philadelphia's kensington neighborhood. chopper three over e street allegheny avenue where medics returned to the scene just before 10:30 last night. the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. the driver did stay there. the cause of this crash is under investigation. >> another deadly crash now. this one along kelly drive in philadelphia. police say a car and a motorcycle collided near fountain green drive right around 11:30 last night.

the motorcyclist died at hahnemann hospital. the cause of this crash is still under investigation. new this morning, philadelphia police are investigating another accident on the roosevelt boulevard. investigators say two cars collided near the mascher street intersection, around 1:15 this morning, one person went to einstein medical center, and there is no word yet on how serious those injuries are. >> and, arsonist, who is targetting a center city high-rise, has a price on his head this morning, it is $10,000 for information leading to his capture. "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh, live near the scene, anita, what do we know? >> well, jan, authorities believe that someone with a axe to grind is intentionally setting fires inside this luxury apartment building. now the management company is making security changes as a result. >> sounds like some sort of lunatic in the building. >> resident of the sterling apartment homes on 18th and jf k boulevard in center city are on edge after a string every recent fires at the complex that fire officials now calling arson.

>> i've been in this business a long time. and let me tell you something, it is very concerning to me. >> atf officials say seven fires have been set in common areas, of the building, over the last month, most recently on friday at midnight. although the flames were quickly put out in each instance, fire officials point to devastating high-rise fires in london and dubai of examples of what could nap a blaze gets out every control. >> they may seem small in night your. but all it takes is the lick after flame going in the wrong direction, and we could have potential catastrophe. >> that's what sherman fears most, as a resident who describes himself as barely mobile. >> just hope that they finds what's going on. >> now building management stepping up security by installing cameras, increasing security patrols. investigators and building management are offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to arrest. >> now, though no one has been hurt in these small fires, couple of residents have had

to be temporarily moved as a result of water damage in their unit. about 1,000 people live inside this luxury apartment building , and eight units have been damaged by that water from the sprinklers. anyone with information is asked to call the atf tip line that's 1800-atf fire. live in center city this morning, i'm anita oh, cbs-3 " eyewitness news." >> thank you very much, anita. philadelphia police continue their search for a gunman and three other suspects in a car rental heist at philadelphia international airport. this happened at avis around 4:00 friday morning. investigators say the suspects assaulted the front gate guard there, took his phone, and then stole at least four cars. the gunman reportedly was wearing a blue hoodie. if you have any information, give philadelphia police a call. >> meantime, philadelphia police officer will soon be offer the force after allegedly injuring a man in custody. officials say 26 year old james yeager slammed a handcuffed suspect to the grounds in kensington back on

july 10th. police also say yeager through that suspect around, forcing that man to strike his head against the side after pool. yeager, four year veteran, of the force, is suspended for 30 days with intent to dismiss. >> meantime, police in delaware county hope you can help them track down the person who ran down landscaper and then took off. this happened on jackson drive , in brookhaven. investigators say, the landscaper was standing outside of his truck when he saw a man stealing a leaf blower from the back of the truck. police say the landscaper then tried to stop the suspect by stepping in front of the get-away car, this silver dodge after inning err, it was captured on surveillance video there. the landscaper is now in stable condition. police are trying to figure out what caused deadly crash in quakertown bucks county. authorities say a driver died after slamming into a pool supply company on route 309. the impact sparked a huge fire there, that damaged the building and apartments on an upper floor, all of the resident thankfully were able

>> absolutely not. didn't mean that we would be dealing with any kind of bad weather. we did have heavy rain, some thunderstorm activity that came through here this morning , and our eyewitness weather watchers, couple of them said they were woken up by heavy rainfall out there. they are talking about temperatures in the 60s this morning, but, what i want to talk about, what they are talking about rain wise. how much people have gotten so far today in their backyard. you see, jerry, up in blue bell, only got a tent of an inch of rain so far with the activity came through, phil in philadelphia got almost full inch of rain. kenneth down in willingboro, he got just over three quarters after inch. , dolores in newark, just under inch. of rain for her, as well. clementon, new jersey, david in his backyard, got over inch of rain, and allen down in delran, he got inch. and a half of rain with this line every thunderstorms that came through here this morning so it packed a punch. we definitely were dealing with it for quite some time. the good news, though, we get a look at what's happening

right now with our current set up, is that front, cold front, now starting to slide all the way through the region, and it is pushing all of that precipitation off of the coast now, not completely out of the woods just yet. see central new jersey covering clouds, even here if philly, back further to the west, lot every cloud cover here early on, and even light showers still out there. but, overall, high pressure is starting to build in. it is really for the most part still centered out in the ohio river valley. but will track eastward, as it does it bridges drier air, all of the precipitation, really by mid-morning, maybe even late morning, at the latest, is already out of here. and then, again, the sunshine will be taking over. more kind of zoomed in view here, on storm scan3, you can see, more of the precipitation again pushing offer the coastline. up in the new york area or traveling up toward new york -- new york this morning or maybe later this afternoon, do be little prepared for wet conditions up in the new york

area, here, down into the jersey shore, that's where we're still seeing some more mod rad rainfall, absecon area getting bit moderate rainfall, somers point, ocean sit, seeing some light to moderate rain for you. good news, while we had thunderstorms early on in the day, most that far is really a thing of the past. we do have the cloud cover, it is going to be thinning out as we go through the day, that means, that the shore is not going to be a bad place to be. we go with 81 degrees, for our high temperature today, down the shore, i don't think it really, doesn't get much better than there is because humidity will be down, and again, the sun will be up. don't forget the sunscreen. water temperature, still slowly, slowly start to go creep up. it is at 76 degrees right now. hopefully by the ends of the month of august we will be looking for even more comfortable water temperatures today, we go with, again, clear skies, lower humidity overall. specially once we get into the second half of the day. 82 degrees for the high temperature. now, our winds, northwesterly, ten to 20 miles an hour, few areas could even see wind

gusts as high as 25 miles per hour, because, again, on the back side of the cold front, we usually get those more gusty winds. for the rest of the area, rest of our weekends, we go with 81 h temperature tomorrow, wonderful sunday in store, again, low humidity, plenty of sunshine for us, but our next system starts to move on in sunday night. we could even start to get few maybe rounds of shower sunday night. by the time we get to monday, thunderstorms are back into the forecast, we go with high of 08 degrees there. and then, tuesday, wednesday, it is calmer, much quieter, jan, see temperatures in a the mid 80s, the lower humidity, even toward the end of the week, not looking to bad. so, right now, monday really the only day that we are really concerned about. >> you know what? i'm take little bit of rain, if it is followed up by two great days. thanks, matt. >> on the health watch now, extreme sunburns at the height of this summer season. the last thing you want is a bad sunburn, right? but it can happen. and it can be dangerous. health reporter stephanie

>> live from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news " this morning. >> storms are moving through the delaware valley, but, we're prom ills dollars the sun will return today. meteorologist, matt peterson out on the cbs-3 skydeck with eyewitness weather. no pressure, matt, good morning. >> no pressure, always pressure. i feel like the week sends always such a time where everybody want to get outside and enjoy yourself, i really think today you'll be able tonight i think if you're waking up now, maybe up for little bit, looking outside man so gray, dreary, and that's the case right now, but again, sunshine coming later on in the afternoon. storm scan3 shows that we did have that thunderstorm activity came through, started around 3:00 or so in the morning for us here in center city. started little earlier, point to the west, and cold front now pushed almost all the way through philadelphia itself. still tracking across central

>> good morning, live look at the schuylkill schuylkill at city avenue. cameras a bit blur fry all of the rain we had this morning, but we've been keeping an eye on construction project, eastbound, mentioned earlier, as you can see from the light here this is where it start. crews have the left lane from city avenue all the way to the blue route closed in a if you add that to the wet conditions we have significant glowing on both sides of the wrote roadway. if you have somewhere to be give yourself extra time to get through that. puddle by belmont, caused earlier accident, so make sure you're going slowly around the curve there. in the earlier rain, still causing all sort of problems on the roadways throughout the rest of the area. there are some major flood issues at airport road between 95 and common boulevard. that's completely closed because that far water. so, your alternate there will be basin road. and moving out of bethlehem pike, weaver accident investigation, that whole road closed and has been for several hours this morning, crews are on the scene there, as you can see, all lanes block, your best bet use cow path road to taylor road. live look at the vine, wet but

she is saying it is 73, actually doesn't have any rain in her backyard, little sunshine breaking through the clouds, what does she have to say? showers in the area, even though she is not actually seeing any right now, and she is saying it feels a little juicy out there. yes, southern new jersey, and part of delaware, still, on the humid side of things. and as we head back up little bit north of the city. let's go up, 67 degrees this morning, john's house up in perkasie, as we kick off the day there. he has got some cloud cover. then we just take one more look at some of the rain amounts, that we've seen, we're seeing a lot of them out there. levittown, williams yam's house he's saying around an inch. and a quarter. then again, also, john in tabernacle, i don't think he has 82 inches every rain. i think you forgot the decimal point there, buddy, also phil down in philadelphia saying just shy of an inch. of rain as well. so it was a wet start to the day. and outside right now, a look at margate. where we are seeing some precipitation, trying to work its way into some of our southern shore points.

so, again, if you are down, maybe, near atlantic city, or ocean sit, even, here in margate, too, you could get maybe little bit of light shower activity to start out the day. but overall, the heaviest rain , at this point, has moved out of the area. which is some good news. storm scan3, again, southern long beach island, that's where we see some more moderate rainfall there. the good news, though, even if we get more moderate rainfall, thunderstorms probably a thing of the past for this morning. the rest of us, down along the coastline, atlantic city light showers toward ocean city maybe sprinkle or two, but again, overall, we're looking at much drier conditions. this is our current set up. we have our area of low pressure to the north, we're get that counter clockwise circulation, so we are going to see some northwesterly flow on the back side of the front. again it, continues to push all that precipitation off the coastline. then high pressure will start to filter in, and you see all of this dry air, back there, in the ohio river valley. well. that will work its way toward

central pa, then eventually, to us here in the delaware vale, we will be seeing some sunshine, later this afternoon , but it will be accompanied by some gusty winds. you see the future winds gust hereby 1:00 this afternoon, 15 to 20-mile per hour wind gusts , some areas could even get as high as maybe 20 to 25- mile per hour winds. so even though it is going to be a quiet afternoon, with the sunshine, and much quieter and much calmer conditions, we will be, again, looking for maybe some gusty winds here or there. some of the gusty winds could even ling-ling near sunday morning, see maybe ten-15-mile per hour winds tomorrow. getting a look at the dew point, much, much lower humidity this afternoon. you see lots every dew point in the 50's, today little bit more muggy down to the south toward the shore. but still, overall, not too bad. sunday low 50's, 40's popping in thereon dew point map. let's hope we do get the nice dry air to settle over the region sunday. high temperature for us today, 82 degrees, again, sunshine this afternoon, going with a wonderful sunday, 81, low
