>> and again, the police commissioner has suspended officer yeager for 30 days but intend to dismiss him from the department. the fop plans to fight the department on that and they have a high success rate in doing so. reporting live outside the philadelphia police headquarters, alycia nieves, cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> alycia thank you so much. also tonight at least 10 people are hurt after extreme turbulence rocked an americans airlines flight. flight 5759 from athens greece landed safely this afternoon in philadelphia. passengers say drinks were just served when the turbulence started and beverages were thrown about

the cabin. three passengers and seven crew members were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. also an ice cream shop in springfield wants your help finding a group of young thieves. surveillance video in crave creamery on baltimore pike shows four boys walking up to the counter. one reaches into the tip jar, the others check the jar before running away. the store say it happened wednesday around 8 o'clock last night. if you have any information contact police right away. and three people are shot in colwyn delaware county and the shooter is still on the loose at this hour. a 16-year-old and a 20-year-old were killed in the gunfire. "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh spoke with witnesses who say the violence in that area has got to stop. >> reporter: authorities in delaware county are searching for the gunman they say opened fire on a colwyn street corner just before 11:00 friday night. the shooting happened here on fourth and walnut streets according to police. two people have been killed. a third remains in critical

condition. david holloway says he was moving into a home a block away when he heard the gunfire that killed a 20-year-old and a 16-year-old and wounded a 15-year-old. >> we just heard gunshots like six, seven, pow, pow, pow, pow. >> reporter: holloway says his brother a field medic rushed to help one of the young men until first responders arrived. >> he ran out here with his emergency bag. ran straight to the person who was shot and he said he was shot in the head. when he passed him off, when they got -- when the man got into the ambulance he was breathing. >> reporter: neighbors say they're sat denned by the news. >> by heart goes out to the family of the children who passed away. paul jones who says recent violence is part of the reason he's leaving the neighborhood. >> well, i'm putting the house on the market today. ain't get nothing better here. >> reporter: while investigators are still working to identify a motive they believe some of the young adults traveled into colwyn

from southwest philadelphia and this may have been a feud between two rival groups. in delaware county, anita oh cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> well, peco has brought the number of people without power in the philadelphia region to less than 500 at this point. that is after severe storms cut power to more than 10,000 customers. as "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan tells us, one neighborhood in doylestown is without power indefinitely. >> a crack and all the sparks and all. it was pretty scary. >> reporter: it was a bang and then lights out for a doylestown neighborhood after a tree took out power lines utility poles and nearly landed on the house across the street from marie bushnell. >> 3:30 this morning i hear a big loud crack and then all the sparks from the electrical wires. >> reporter: peco says at one point more than 10,000 customers lost power in the region because of an early morning storm t of the 4,000 homes and businesses without power in bucks county, the majority were in the doylestown area. >> lost most of our traffic signals, good part of

doylestown borough, parts of doylestown township were out of power. >> reporter: this street at the corner of north and chapman happened to fall more than a quarter mile from a peco substation on route 13. peco tried to reroute power and make these lines safe. >> once this power is known to be totally out we're going to cut this tree up and get it out of the way so they can replace their telephone poles and such. >> reporter: you can see that all of the trees close to the power lines have been trimmed over the years to try and prevent limbs from falling down and knocking out the power. but when a whole tree comes down, it's a power mess. just this week, peco announced plans for $1.8 million worth of tree trimming including work in doylestown. >> i'm glad it didn't fall on their house. yeah, there's some big trees over there but that's what makes doylestown beautiful. >> reporter: bob's daughters wanted to see what was causing their home to lose power. what do you do on a summer day

without electricity. >> go swimming. >> reporter: in doylestown, cleve bryan cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> recent weather disrupted drivers early this morning flooding closed several lanes here on the schuylkill expressway eastbound in montgomery county. eyewitness video shows cars wading through the pools of water trying to drive through. this was right before the belmont avenue exit. also federal investigators continuing to look for answers after an explosion at an islamic center near minneapolis. this happened in the suburb of emergency bloomington today. witnesses say an explosive device was thrown into the imam's office. as many as 20 people were preparing for morning prayer at the time. >> hate is not okay. we need a better america. targeting people because of their race their ethnicity or their religion is absolutely unamerican. >> an attack on a mosque is an

attack on a synagogue is an attack on a church is an attack on all faith communities. >> fortunately no one was injured in the blast. the fbi says it's too early to call on whether this is hate crime or act of terrorism. >> north korea sanctioned. the sanctions call for a complete ban on coal and other exports totaling more than a billion dollars. the u.s. and china north korea's sole ally both supported the sanctions. >> and this time, the council has matched its words and actions. >> resolution unanimously demonstrates that the international community is united in its position regarding the nuclear issue of the peninsula. >> american officials believe north korean missiles can

reach the mainland u.s. military ships and aircraft are combing the waters east of australia searching for three missing u.s. marines. they went missing after their plane suffered what's been described as a mishap today. the mv22 os spree aircraft similar to the one here went to the water during training with australian forces. 23 other service members who were on the airplane have been rescued. australia's defense minister says his nation offered to help in any way possible in the search. and former pharmaceutical executive martin shkreli has been convicted of securities fraud and conspiracy. a brooklyn jury deliberated for five days before convicting shkreli on three of the eight counts. the case focused mainly on allegations that he blew investors money on bad stock picks before raiding his drug company of stock and cash to pay them back. shkreli became notorious in 2015 after raising the price of an aids drug from $13.50

>> ♪ >> welcome back everyone. check out this incredible police dashcam video of bystanders working to try to rescue a person pinned under a vehicle in atlanta. police say it started with a shooting. the man who became pinned was trying to avoid the gunfire when a car that wasn't placed in park rolled over him. police say that man is now in critical condition. and a pig headed for auction this morning made a daring escape on a washington state freeway. the large pig jumped from the trailer it was being carried

on and began wandering about on the side of the road. eventually passersby stopped and herded the large pig through an opening in the barriers. amazing the pig was uninjured. the adventure was short lived. according to police the owner returned to claim the pig. they make it their mission to keep memorials dedicated to their brothers in arms clean. vietnam veterans gather to wash the vietnam wall and relive old memories. for some the gathering is a form of healing. for others its a reminder of what they lost. >> this is a way to give them the respect that they've earned and we feel like we're >> bob was uniqueng fishing, run over the hills. west virginia served in vietnam with his uncle bob.ome,e

did not. simmons' of the names on the vietnam veteran wall. and here at home, delaware county is celebrating its veterans with a parade and ceremony in ridley township. service members enjoyed some food off the grille at the third annual veterans appreciation day. several local law enforcement agencies joined them at the v.f.w. hall. organizers say the event is crucial towards pointing veterans towards local resources. >> my job is pretty easy in terms of being able to help veterans but it's difficult when they're not aware that i'm there. i tell you, it's really remarkable as a veteran to see how much these people really care. >> the event started off with a motorcycle procession and a parade and you can still head there actually -- well, you could have. it ended at 9 o'clock actually so you're a little bit late. today the independence sea port museum helped celebrate the coast guard's 207th

birthday. congress established the coast guard. during today's event coast guard service men were invited to speak and take questions. according to the u.s. coast guard they are one of the oldest organizations of the federal government and until the navy department was established in 1798 they served as the only armed force afloat. great work here a local fraternity chapter gathers community members in camden for a day of family fun. today was the second annual camden community barbecue in farnum park. it was put on by the brothers of phi beta sigma fraternity. organizers also provided resources like voter registration and veterans services to those in attendance. great day just to be outside. just soaking in the warmth and, oh, beautiful. >> especially after another wild night of weather. >> i know. it's a reward.

>> exactly. gorgeous out there. gate day out on the park. i was down at the schuylkill river trail earlier today. it was just simply gorgeous and it's a gorgeous night outside right now. here's a live look at center city where we have mostly clear skies, just a beautiful evening across the delaware and the lehigh valleys. the official high temperature today in philadelphia was 79 degrees. that is well below our average of 87 for this time of year. and temperatures right now are checking in in the 60's. 62 degrees in millville. we have 64 in cherry hill. it is 64 degrees in pemberton. down the shore we're at 64 in atlantic city, 63 in toms river. right around 73 degrees currently in wildwood and in the city we're down to 72, 69 in palmyra, 68 trenton and 65 degrees in mount holly and we're looking at temperatures right around 65 in allentown. the cool spot on the map, that's mount pocono around 58 degrees already and dewpoints are in the 50's.

remember dewpoints the measure of how much moisture is in the air and it's a great indicator of how comfortable it feels. well, it feels simply amazing outside right now especially in atlantic city, i mean, yeah, a dewpoint of 56 degrees, 55 down the shore in wildwood. look at the dewpoint change over the past 24 hours. this is pretty impressive. 14 degrees lower in philadelphia compared to this time last night. in atlantic city, 17 degrees lower so some very pleasant air out there right now and that moved in behind those storms that brought many areas quite a bit of rain especially areas north and west of philadelphia but a different story now on storm scan3. we're dealing with mostly clear skies, a clear scan. heading out west though this is our next system that we are tracking in the center portion of the united states. that's going to be bringing us our next chance for some showers and a thunderstorm as we start out the work week but in the meantime quiet weather for us. mostly clear skies as we head into the overnight hours. tonight we'll start out the day with a good amount of sunshine but i think high clouds will filter in ahead of

that next system throughout the day. calling for a mix of sun and clouds heading into the afternoon and we stay dry throughout the day on sunday though. it's going to be another great day to get outside with low humidity, dewpoints in check so feeling good but then my monday those showers and storms returning. it's looking like a wet afternoon and a wet evening commute. let's take you down to the tropics now where we are monitoring two areas of disturbed weather. the first burn in the -- one in the central caribbean. we'll head out over the atlantic where we have another disturbed area. this is about a thousand miles west-southwest of the verde islands. we're monitoring these very closely. we are getting very close to the peak of the atlantic hurricane season. we do anticipate that things are going to be picking up here activity-wise as we head into about the next month, month and a half. i'll let you know when we get our next named system. by the pool side though quiet weather tomorrow 81 degrees will end tea of sunshine. ladder on the sunscreen. that u.v. index is high. same thing goes for areas down

>> the phillies placed aaron altherr on the 10 day disabled list. he reaggravated his right hamstring last night. that's the same injury that cost him to miss 10 games last month. pete mackanin spent nick pivetta to the mound. a rough first inning for nick. bases loaded jam. two runs score and the rockies take a two-nothing lead. six-nothing in the third. and pat hits the line drive that went over the fence in left with a two run homer. pivetta gave up eight runs. please lose their fifth straight eight-five the final. training camp resumes tomorrow at lincoln financial field for the second open practice starting at 10:00 a.m. carson wentz will be playing thursday night against the packers in the birds first preseason game. we just don't know how long. the team is in the dog days of camp. they're tired of beating each other up. they can't wait to play a game even though it doesn't count. >> that's kind of just the nature of training camp, the nature of the off season.
