these dew points they are down in the 50's and even mount pocono, at 48 degrees, for our dew points, so lots of dry air overtop of the region. when we have clear skies, and you add in that dry air, check out these morning temperatures sit fall or beginning of the august. 49 degrees our temperature right now in mount pocono. down to 63 in philadelphia. sixty in millville. sixty-one in wilmington. look at these 50's coming in at 58. so again, very, very nice this morning. but we will be rising throughout, maybe 70 degrees by early as 9:00. once sun does come up and air dry it tend to heat quickly. we will be up to 70 by 9:00 this morning but we will stay below average later this afternoon we will get up to 81 h temperature. we could see some showers, and thunderstorms as we kick off our workweek. we will talk about monday's forecast. >> today is incredible, thanks , matt. we will begin with break ing news this morning, a

woman is dead after she was hit by a car in center city philadelphia and now police are looking for the driver. "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh is live at philadelphia police headquarters this morning. anita, what do we know so far. >> reporter: well, good morning, jan. police say that woman is a caucasian woman in her early 50's and they say they are still looking for the driver and any potential witnesses. this all happen around 3:45 this morning at 13th and race street in center city. police, say that the woman was believed to be homeless and sleeping nearby, when she got up to cross the street and use the rest room, that is when police say the car struck her. a security guard patrolling the area found her face down with tire marks on her body and trauma to the head according to police but that security guard was not ready to speak on camera. right now there is no description of that driver, or a description of the vehicle but there are many surveillance, cameras, in the area that police hope will give them, more answers, but all we know so far, again,

right now, we know that the woman in her 50's, believed to be homeless was hit by a car this morning, police are still asking anyone who may have more information to contact them. live at police headquarters, i'm anita oh for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". hopefully those cameras will help, keep us up to date. now to a developing story out of ocean county, new jersey, four people are hospitalized after a shooting in lakewood. this all happen at the brooke road sports complex just after 9:30 last night, the four people were at a party there when they were shot. they were taken to monmouth medical center, no word on how they are doing right now or on what may have motivated the shooting, in one has been arrested just yet. the fraternal order of police planned to deeven if philadelphia office shore is now off the job, officer james yeager has been suspended for a month, after a video emerged appearing to show him slamming a man to the ground. alycia nieves has the story. >> reporter: concerned residents on elkheart street

in the kensington section of philadelphia recorded cell phone video july 10th, residents were worried about the amount of officers trying to arrest a man in the middle of the street. the amount of force being used >> that was aggressive. >> reporter: nearly a in later some who live on the street are still upset watching this video especially this moment, when one officer is seen picking up the man who was already in handcuffs, spinning him around, and then slamming him into the ground. man arrest test was so hard he had to be taken to the hospital that night and was in critical condition. >> that was totally unnecessary, no harm he could have brought to them cops, nobody was in danger but to him at that point. >> reporter: philadelphia police department has identified the officer seen slamming the arrested man, he is 26 year-old officer james yeager, who has been with the department for four years. yeager has been suspended by the commissioner for 30 days. >> that was an ugly night out there and that guy should have just cooperated and we wouldn't be here today.

>> reporter: fraternal order of police is defending officer yeager warning people not to rush to judgment over this video because it may in the show all of what led up to this incident. fop add man being arrested was resisting and officers were trying to arrest him for a drug related offense. >> we have seen officer go over board prior and we deal with that on a case by case basis but this one here we will make sure that we represent the officer, officer yeager walt through. >> reporter: police commissioner has suspended officer yeager for 30 days but intends to dismiss him completely after that. fop plans on fighting the department on that and it does have a high success rate in doing so. outside police headquarters, alycia nieves for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". ten people are recovering this morning after they were hurt on a plane that landed at philadelphia international airport. the american airlines flight from atens, greece encountered severe turbulence right before

landing right around 4:00 in the afternoon. passengers say drinks were thrown around the cabin, three passengers and seven crew members were taken to the hospital to be checked out. well, search continues today for a man who killed two people and left a third in the hospital. take a look, delaware county district attorney's office say this man is the shooter in delaware county. violence happened friday night at fourth and walnut streets, a 20 year-old man and a 16 year-old were both killed, a 15 year-old is hospitalized now in critical condition. a man was just moving in a block away. he heard it all. his brother is a paramedic and helped one of the victims. >> just heard gunshots like six or seven, pop, pop, pop, pop. he ran up there, with his emergency, and ran straight to the person who was shot and he said he was shot in the head, when he -- when the man got to the ambulance he was breathing >> investigators do not yet have a motive for this

as wendy gilette reports members say this isn't the first time that mosque has been targeted. >> reporter: this broken window is is what left after someone threw a bomb inside a mosque in a minneapolis suburb early saturday morning. >> one of the congregation members came out and immediately saw a flubbing fleeing from the parking lot, running at high speed. >> reporter: witnesses say the device was thrown in the office at islamic center in blooming ton just after 5:00 a.m. there were as many as 20 people inside preparing for morning prayers. they were able to extinguish the flames before fire fighters arrived. no one was injured. the fbi is leading the investigation. >> at this point our focus is to determine, you know, who and why? >> reporter: those affiliated with the mosque say they have been target of the numerous hate messages, e-mails and calls and they believe that this incident is a hate crime. >> hate is not okay. we need a better america

just would never of thought i would experience something like that. >> now woman also attacked anyone who tried to stop them as if that weren't enough the two women then stole her wallet, phone, rent check, lapd say they are making progress in finding those attackers. a sinkhole, that has swallowed up two homes and a boat in florida is growing once again. sinkhole is in landolakes north tampa. two more homes condemned because of the growing sinkhole, it opened up back on july 14th as 260 feet wide at its widest point, crews say vibration from his trucks, equipment may be cause ago this hole to grow even bigger and they plan to push a barge in the sinkhole to continue the clean up today. and take a look at this, severe thunderstorms triggered flash flooding in las vegas from inside a hotel parking lot. a trapped calf and his passengers had scramble to the roof of the cab as water

for the high today. when you compare that to average 86 is what we usually typically see, for the beginning of the august, for august, sixth. so, again we will be below that and this is first time since july 2nd that we haven't had a average high of 87 degrees. so again talking about, peak heating starting to come to an end. this is what we're talking about. by september 6th we're going to a average high of 81. we are a month ahead but we will rise in the next couple days. by the time we get to august 6th we are looking for average highs in the 70's, so again when i'm done here go on twitter and vote and see if you are ready to be done with the 90's. out in kutztown we have a wonderful sunrise at 52 degrees in the lehigh valley to start out. it is definitely a fall like feel to things on this sunday morning. pocono forecast for this afternoon a high of 71. sunshine. comfortable. light breeze to go with all that sunshine. again just a wonderful, wonderful day. not just across lehigh veil,

poconos but back down here as well. current cell not too much going on. a few high cloud are out there but i want to zoom out and give you a look what is happening. high pressure settled down to our south but thinks our next system. area have low pressure spiraling through southern plains and it is eventually going to track to the north and east and bring a warm front at first, cold front flying in then after as we go through the day on monday and we will get some showers and thunderstorms, tomorrow. so this is where we will see right now, again, our system out in the plains, nice, quiet , across the delaware valley here this morning, but by tomorrow morning, we will not have too much in the forecast for to us day. future weather shows us by 4:00 tomorrow morning we will seeing showers out to the west and north as well, some of those could come in earlier then that. but by three or 4:00 we are starting to see showers developed, see here by 8:00 thunderstorms possibly even again just a little bit north of philadelphia, back through allentown area, reading back down toward lancaster as well those

good morning everyone i'm jan carabao, we're starting the week on a very bright note he is calling it pick of the week. meteorologist matt peterson is live on the sky deck with eyewitness weather. i thought yesterday was pick of the week but you say today is better. >> if we didn't have rain showers yesterday morning it might have been but it is going to be a wonderful sunday i think that today is definitely going to be the best day that we have had, at least this weekend and then we will get nice days during the week as well but again the pick of the weekend for sure. outside here on the sky deck turf say it might feel dairy say cool, chilly, on this sunday morning. as we go through the afternoon hours, we will see plenty of sunshine, very comfortable, humidity is very, very low here this morning and it will continue to be that way throughout the afternoon. but, we are going to watch for another rain shower and another thunderstorm chance to start to move in tonight and then that will last throughout the day, on our monday as our

>> yeah, jan we got new information we have learned that the victim is a caucasian woman in her 50's according to police and we have learned they are looking for a white jeep with a white top, and front end damage. this all happened around 3:15 this morning at intersection of the 13th and race streets in center city, that woman was pronounced dead according to authorities at hahnemann university hospital around 3:45. police source tells me that this woman is believed to be homeless and she was sleeping nearby when she got up to use the rest room and police say this car struck her. a security guard patrolling the area found this woman on the street with trauma to the head, and right now there is no description of that suspect , although, again police are looking for a white jeep wrangler rubican with the white top front end damage and tire on the spare back. live at police headquarters i'm anita oh for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". very helpful, thanks, keep

us up to date. power is back to almost everyone in the philadelphia region. severe storms left more than 10,000 customers in the dark yesterday, morning but as cleve bryan explains the neighborhood in doyletown is still in the dark. >> reporter: yes. >> crack and sparks and all, it was pretty scary. >> reporter: it was a bang and then lights out for a doyletown neighborhood after a tree took out power lines, utility poles, and nearly landed on the house across the street from marie bushnel. >> i hear a big loud crack and then sparks from the electrical wires. >> reporter: she says at one point more than 10,000 customers lost power in the region because of the early morning storm. of the 4,000 homes and businesses without power in bucks county, majority were in the doyletown area. >> we lost most of our traffic signals, good part of the doyletown boro and doyletown township are without power. >> reporter: north street and chapman avenue fell less than a quarter mile from the peco substation on route 313.

tree crew where is on stand bias peco tried to reroute power and make these lines safe. >> once this power is known to be totally out we were going to cut this tree up and get this tree out of the way to replace their telephone poles and such. >> reporter: you can see all of the trees close to the power lines have been trimmed, over the years, to try to prevent limbs from falling down and knocking out power but when a whole tree comes down it is a power mess. just this week peco announced plans for 1.8 million worth of tree trimming including work in doyletown. >> i'm glad it didn't fall on their house, yeah, yeah, this is a big tree over there but that is what makes doyletown so beautiful. >> reporter: bob and his daughters addison and abby wanted to see what was causing their home to lose power. so what do you do on a summer day without electricity. >> go swimming. >> reporter: in doyletown, cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". the severe weather also made for braving the schuylkill expressway a tougher task.

>> i had a abnormal growth in my brain and so they rushed me to children's hospital in philadelphia and they found out i had two brain tumors,. >> allentown native was diagnosed with that form of brain cancer in 2015, after graduating high school and completing treatment aaron's cancer came back this time on his spine. >> i went through intense chemotherapy which is five days of high dose chemotherapy and then, had a bone, blood stem cell transplant, and then , had radiation again. >> reporter: through it all he stayed smiling. >> when he goes into the hospital, no matter how bad he feels, he encourages the people in the hospital. and it is like he is, this kind of a celebrity, he walks through, he talks to the nurses and receptionist. >> reporter: aaron's cancer is currently in remission but they still need help paying for medical expenses that is where jake titlebaum comes in.
