and we continue to follow breaking news this morning out every kensington, what began as a house fire turns into a criminal investigation. authorities discover a man's body, but it is where it is located that may be the biggest clue. we will have the latest on this. also, this morning, parent on edge, in one local community. police say a man tried to lure a young girl to his car, got away safe and with a detailed description. we'll have it for now live report. >> much of the area drying out this morning, after yesterday 's soaker. but a live look at storm scan3 , shows, some towns still seeing some showers. >> katie is here with what should and comfortable forecast. >> today is tuesday, august

8th. good morning, jim is off. i'm joe hold he end. >> i'm rahel solomon. >> good morning, guys. so, just a lot of construction , i know, i sounds like a broken records when say it. honestly, there is so much construction out there. thankfully it is clearing out. you know, i think we are in for at least a stretch of quiet weather for now, stay tuned, but today is the day of transition. boy do we de is her after break. after yesterday's soaking rain , it was absolutely drenching down places like rehoboth for example, not seeing anybody out here just yet, really is quite dreary, even still, at this hour, across this area. but the tell tail signs, the haze over the boardwalk lamps, also of course a lot of very wet boards here, along rehoboth beach. so, we're off to still unsettled start depending on

>> katie, well, good morning. looking outside right now, in new jersey, 42 freeway northbound at creek road approach 295, what you are working with. lot of headlights out there. so typically what we see is if it was raining the day before, we start to see things pick up little bit earlier the next day simply because you were sitting in traffic yesterday. so i want to get a jump on the day. i don't blame you. just heads up it, will probably be busier this morning, good news the boulevard push in the southbound direction toward the schuylkill, actually looking pretty good there. actually looking pretty quiet there. blue route near mid-county what you are looking at, looking good both directions around the blue route, looking at construction still throughout in delaware right now. fifty-nine northbound at route 273, three lanes are actually block there. so this is one of those areas that is going to start to slow you down. i would say more toward around 5:30 or so, but keep our eye on this, i'll let you know how things are progressing, joe, over to you. >> meisha, thank you. we rupp dating breaking news we are following, body discovered following a house fire in philadelphia's kensington section. the fire broke out in a home

on the corner every east clementine and jasper street just about 10:40 last night. after firefighters placed the fire under control, they found a victim dead on the second floor. homicide detective, the fire marshall and atf were all on scene overnight. another resident and a firefighter were injured. we're told the firefighter's injury is considered minor. >> investigators in south jersey are searching for a man they say tried to abduct a young girl. >> "eyewitness news" reporter trang do, liver outside the haddon township police department with a sketch of the suspect. trang, good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning, rahel, joe, and that sketch is extremely detailed. thanks to that young girl. police also released a surveillance image of the car they believe the suspect was driving. >> haddon township police are looking for this man, in connection to attempted luring of a child. he's described as a white male , in his late 30's, to early 40's, with a light complexion and dark hair. he was wearing an orange short

sleeve college shirt, and thin silver frame glasses, with noticeable wrinkles at the corner every his eyes and above his nose. sunday a girl riding her bike on the 200 block every addison avenue westmont reported that a man pulled up to her, and said her parent sent him to take her home. the girl quickly road away. investigators released a surveillance em and of the car they believe the suspect was driving. they describe it as 2003 gold or tan four-door hyundai elantra gls with new jersey tags. police say the driver side rear panel may have been newly painted, and may not match the rest of the car. >> anyone with information is asked to contact detective timothy heck here at the haddon township police department. but for now, liver from haddon township, trang do, cbs-3, " eyewitness news," rahel, joe, back to you. >> trang, thank you. philadelphia police have yet to release the name of the man they say fired at officers nearly hitting a family inside their home. the result of cross-fire. >> mother and her kids were watching a movie inside their

north home yesterday afternoon , outside police was threatening to use his gun. officers returned to the scene , we're tolman began shooting. he did not hit anyone. but a bullet did fly through the mother's bedroom with her kids inside. >> we heard the bullet go through the window. and she started screaming. and i immediately got up, because the kids were outside playing. >> i was in my mom's room watching it. v. the bullet came flying in the window. >> yes, scary, never know what's going to happen. >> police then returned fire, on the alleged shooter, sending him to the hospital. he is a he now face being multiple charges. >> president trump may be step closer to fulfilling one every his campaign promises today. he's set to meet with officials, and to discuss how to solve the opioid epidemic. here's hena donna. >> reporter: president trump gets briefing on opioid crisis today from health and human services secretary tom right. the president's budget asks for for $10.3 billion for drug

treatment, $200 million increase, but it would cut 167 million from abuse prevention. >> we have 9/11 scale loss of life, every three weeks. >> a report from new jersey governor chris christie chair of the president's opioid commission, says that from 2,000 to 2015, more than half a million people died of drug overdoses. opioids account for the majority every those deaths. attorney general, jeff sessions, recently announced creation of the opioid fraud abuse and detection unit. that will use data and lit particulars find doctors over prescribing opioids for profit >> we are coming after it, will reverse these devastating trends with every lawful use we have. >> also said opioids are top reason to focus so much attention on our boarders. >> we are working closely with the congress on legislation to have better and tighter controls. >> reporter: the president's

opioid commission has asked mr. trump to declare a national health emergency. the president has yet to respond. hena a, cbs-3, "eyewitness news." >> lawyers for former philadelphia congressman, chaka fattah, are trying to have his corruption conviction dismissed. the attorneys say prosecutors used too broad a definition every bribery and failed to meet standards set by 2016 supreme court ruling. the court decision cited by fault a's legal team helped over turn the constriction of former new york assembly member. fattah currently serving year year prison term. six month after deadly prison riot in delaware, the end of an investigation is almost near. prosecutors reportedly expectings from a new castle county grand jury within the next 90 days. it is unclear if the panel will hand up an indictment. the uprising of the james t vaughn correctional center in february killed correctional officer lieutenant steven floyd. that stand-off lasted nearly 20 hours. >> still ahead this morning, we will tell you why the city of trenton is paying a family

antonio, texas. he was stuck on top of his car for 45 minutes yesterday morning, up to 5 inches every rain came down on part of the city in just a few hours, rescue crews had to extends a ladder as we see here, over fast-moving water to bring the driver to safety. firefighters say this is a reminder not drive in flood conditions. meantime, here at home, we're finally drying out after drenching rains and flooding, really, soak parts of the region. >> have a look at this video here shot in cape may by steven monahan, shore towns are specially tone to flooding in weather events, like the one we saw yesterday. a reminder, of course, if you encounter flooding, turn around, and just do not drive-thru it. now, same weather system that brought us rain and flooding, may have produced a tornado in saulsbury, maryland >> take a look, surround vale valance video shows strong winds at topper's top house. one car barrels towards the street. see it there? cars in a local shopping sent were left stacked on top of each other. one building collapsed.

late, not even just from yesterday's system, but also, just in general, as of late. allentown, and millville, so kind of on opposite sides of the delaware valley, let's take a look at some of the statistic, millville pick up shy of 8.37. second wettest july ever since records began, and even so far in the first week of august pick up an additional 3.78 inches. so, they're water logs. they don't need rain at this point. in meantime, allentown, my old stomping grounds, 8.21 inches of july rainfall for that area making the fifth wettest july ever since records began. and again, so far for the week of august, first week anyway, just over three and a half inches have fallen there. these are two towns definitely not the only towns, obviously, that have been hit hard, but two that definitely stands out as exceptional whether it comes to the amount every rain that has come through. poor millville has been dealing with residual showers

this morning, have been confined through sussex, cape may count counties, all south. skies clearing out nicely williamsport and state college area. traveling maybe in toward central pa, if you have business at the state capitol, things like that, will start to clear out for you, more quickly than they will at the shore. this is your vacation week, and you're waiting on the skies to clear, they'll do that at the beaches today. but it will take some time. we need this to drop out of here. that requires little bit after lag. little bit after delayed reaction. but, other than these residual morning showers, skies are clearing out everywhere. in the city of philadelphia, we hit about 82 degrees today. that's cooler than average. overall the seven day forecast does stay at least few degrees , stying dry tonight, 63, normal low 69. that's quite cool. and since it is comfortable, hey, turn the air conditioner off. save the energy bill. why not? leave the windows open a crack looking forward we hit mid 80s right through the forecast, sunday the one and only day we can call quote unquote average

by friday, unsettled pattern regains control here, meisha, so friday, the weekend, even monday, bring the poe tell slam for showers or storms. >> the one time we probably wouldn't want them. all right, katie, thank you so much. but today looks great. yesterday we were dealing with the rain. so, probably little busier today. overall 95 south at cottman, coming around the s curve, push in the southbound direction, actually looking pretty good. yesterday northbound side we got real busy. heads up, actually the northbound side, which is the headlight, you can see, heating up little bit. but southbound side really where i have my eye right now. actually looking pretty good. overall looking good. a lot of construction out there. i will say, see if i can get this back up, if not, i will say, that the overall arch theme today is just a lot of construction. so overall, i'll leave you with this, fix this guy, and i'll be right back. rahel, joe, back to you. >> for a look at newspaper

headlines. >> family after man killed in a crash on icy street has been awarded a $45,000 settlement. johnson was driving on the 500 block greenwood avenue in 2015 when he skid, struck a tree, died. his family says the city was responsible for his death because they did not salt the road. >> the delaware county daily times says 36 year old frank deson is responsible for attempted robbery at the rite aid pharmacy on the 3500 block every west chester pike in broomall. he used a box cutter to threaten cashiers, but they say they had already called police. so as he fled, and an eyewitness snatched a picture, and tracking him to his drexel hill home. >> reading eagle report good news bad news for farm nerves bucks county. made it cheaper to care for pigs, the mud keeps them cool. but it has also made some more weeds. delaying the planting of crops that's a look at newspaper headlines from around the delaware valley. up next pat gallen here with your morning sports. >> lots to get into in the

philly. get ready for scary site. simmons says he spent his past year rehabbing and getting better, and he's ready to grab the season by the throat. he says he would have killed the old him on the court. that's a good thing. phillies continue their road trip tonight in atlanta the phils are 17 and 41, on the road this season, and they have the fewest road wins in the major leagues. millville native, mike trout, hads a -- had a happy birthday yesterday. trout turned 26 and celebrated with a double for his 1,000 career hit. later on, trout would hit homerun number 23 on the season for good measure. he loves giving himself gifts. it is the fourth time in his career that he's homered on his birthday. unfortunately, trout's angels lost the game six to two. barry bonds says he thinks co- have hit 800 homeruns if he kept playing after the 2,007 season. ten years ago, last night, bonds hit his record setting
