good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. u.s. air force planes have arrived in the territory of guam. the deployment comes after new threats by north korea against guam. yesterday president trump issued a chilling warning to pyongyang over its nuclear program. and there's new information about the north's ability to launch a successful nuclear strike against the u.s. hena doba is in new york with the latest. good morning, hena. >> good morning, anne-marie. they're finding themgs in a dangerous war of words between the u.s. and north korea. pyongyang responded by threatening potential force against the island. >> there is no change in the threat level resulting from north korea events.

>> guam president is addressing nervous res dentds. i've reached out to the white house this morning. an attack or threat on guam is a threat or attack on the united states. they have said that america will be defended. >> pyongyang's threats are part of a dangerous ramping up rhetoric between north korea and the u.s. tuesday president trump issued his most stern warning yet. >> north korea best not make any more threats to the united states. they will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen. >> the response was mixed by the president's choice of words. >> the great leaders i've seen, they don't threaten unless they're ready to act, and i'm not sure president trump is

abuse. yesterday at his fufl club in new jersey, he acknowledged the crisis. >> nobody is safe from this epidemic that threatens young and old, rich and poor, urban and rural communities. everybody is threatened. >> the president is not acting on a recommendation made by a presidential commission that he declared a national emergency. the health and human services secretary said he was still working to device a strategy. in new jersey the search is over. 39-year-old ian mccarthy was arrested last night. he's accused to shooting together police officer fwar michael. >> officer michael was heroic to the end, even sustaining a fatal gunshot wound he was able to return fire to protect himself as well as the citizens here in

clinton. >> about 100 local county and state law enforcement officers had been looking for mccarthy. and a flash flood warning is in effect for southeast texas. the area is already reeling from heavy rainfall. more stormy weather could bring additional flooding. yesterday in harris county which includes the houston area some high water prompted two dozen rescues. rescuers in china are searching for survivors after an earthquake killed at least 13 people. at least 175 others were injured. it was one of two quakes to hit china yesterday. six tourists are reported ly. foreign ministers from 17 hemisphere nations are.

yesterday the constitutional assembly declared itself above all others. that includes the opposition controlled congress. that came hours after aseeably took control of the legislative chamber. they put up pictures of the late hugo chavez. an attorney for tiger woods said he will not attend his hearing today. that means woods will be pleading not guilty because any other plea requires the defendant's attendance. woods had the option to enter a program. he was arrested in may after officers found him asleep in his mercedes-benz. tributes are pouring in for country singer and guitarist glen campbell. he died yesterday at the age of 81 following a lengthy battle with alzheimer's disease. his daughter said she's heartbroken and owes her father

everything. senator john mccain called him a great man and entertainer. dolly parton said he had one of the greatest voices of all time. >> reporter: country icon glen campbell scored his first hit with "rhinestone cowboy." the son of an arkansas share cropper had 21 top 40 hits in a six-decade career. in 1968 campbell cbs show, the glen campbell goodtime hour earned him a household name and an audience of 50 million people. >> reporter: in 2011 campbell acknowledged he was diagnosed with alzheimer's disease. the effects were parent when we

the city auctioned the prestigious private street. the homeowners failed to pay a fee for three decades. the buyers are now thinking of charging the mansion owners for parking. on the "cbs moneywatch" job opening hit a high and 'tisny pulls out of netflix. roxana saberi is at the new york stock exchange with that and more. >> good morning, man re. the dow's second longest rise has snapped. it left the index in negative tear the other for the first time in ten sessions. the dow lost 33 poibtss, the s&p was down 6 and the nasdaq fell 13 points. the labor department says openings jumped 8% to 6.2 million. that's the highest on record dating back to 2,000.

june's job openings outpaced it. airlines are bumping customers at the slowest pace in at least two decades. that's according to the transportation department. it says at least one in 19,000 passengers was booted in an overnight flight in six years. that's the lowest rate. the improvement came amid backlash that the united airlines had a passenger dragged off a full flight in chicago. the ride hailing company may sell the unit. uber has around 40,000 cars if the program which it leases to drivers. and disney says it breaking up with netflix. it announced its streaming its own streaming service for animated classics plus classics like "frozen 2" and "toy story
