sun glare as a result so if you travel, in the eastbound direction you have to deal with that but no complaints here, right. all clear, another morning where temperatures are right now, men to the 50's from allentown back to reading and mount pocono as well. mid to upper 60's up and down i-95 and throughout the course of the day we will heat up here but it feels really comfortable right now. i wouldn't be shock to see beach fill up sooner here today, lots of sunshine all day long, water temperatures nice and mild heading to the beach, meanwhile, elsewhere back in philadelphia any war sunshine will shine we will heat up more readily up to 87. that does feel like august but once more that humidity is still relatively low, but it will start to make an uphill climb, in the days ahead. we will talk about that more in detail as show progresses but for now what a beautiful day and as humidity does start to creep up some showers and thunderstorms make a return appearance which we will talk

about later on, meisha. >> thanks very much. taking a peak outside this camera shot looking hazy, tacony palmyra bridge is scheduled to go up in 10 to 15 minutes. everyone crossing over just fine looking good there. taking on the boulevard, pushing in the southbound direction starting to build levels so slightly, i don't know half an hour or so didn't look this busy in the far right lane approaching the schuylkill where we are starting to slow down and once we jump on the schuylkill at city avenue this is what we are looking at here. plenty of headlights but as you can see in real delays we are traveling around posted speed. we were talking about this sinkhole from the water main break that happened earlier this week on tuesday but because of it south broad street near geary street two right lanes are still block, alternate to get around is there 20th street as your best bet but just a head up, there, that area will get busy, more toward the main rush hour. mercon trucks in new jersey we will talk about in the next 10 minutes, rahel and jan, back

over to you. updating the breaking news police are expanding their search for home invasion suspect they described as armed, dangerous. >> "eyewitness news" reporter trang do is live near that scene, trang do, neighbors are waking up wondering is what going on, i'm sure. what is the very latest. >> reporter: rahel and jan we have a big update for you now. a lot of the intersections were closed in this particular area have since reopened but you can see here on the scene still a couple police cars remain and that is because police say that car you see there, that kia that is car the suspect was driving when spotted by police. 's abandoned that car and police are still looking for him in this area we are right around cardinal avenue and overbrook avenue but here's what we do know about what happened. police say around 2:20 on the 200 block of west mt. airy this person had invaded a home and assaulted female home

owner. he then tried to use an atm at seventh sixth and city avenue just around 3:00 a.m. police spotted him, around 4:20 when they stopped him in this area of cardinal avenue and overbrook avenue pulled him over when he jumped out and ran into a wooded area. he has not been since ever since. he told woman he had a gun but woman didn't see the gun but police are telling people to consider this man armed and dangerous, again, and they have since listed shelter in place. they are still in this area looking for this particular suspect. a this point they describe him as 5-foot five with the beard and he was wearing dark colletteing from head to toe. dark shirt, dark shorts and sneakers as well as a baseball cap but as you can see here traffic is moving smoothly, although this search continues here in overbrook. new back to you guys in the studio. >> trang do, thank you. traffic moving smoothly but still alarm for neighbors

there thank you. fire fighters remain on the scene of the huge fire at a bucks county scrap metal facility. this is what it looked like last night as crews responded just after 9:00 p.m. in the 300 block of steel road south, crew is still there dealing with the hot spots and there are in reports of any injuries carbon monoxide fumes sent five fire fighters to the hospital in chester county. crews rush to the west gay street in west chester after calls were reporting an underground fire. authorities evacuated businesses, near old west chester courthouse around 3:30 yesterday afternoon. that is when an assistant fire chief mark scanlon collapsed. he was revived and rush to the hospital were four other fire fighters. >> sped up eventually and he seemed to be okay and then, you know, few minutes later they came back to the restaurant asking for more help. >> also as a precaution four other fire fighters were also sent to the hospital and all of them are doing fine, they are receiving treatment now and we don't expect any long

term effects. >> well, fire reportedly started with an underground electrical wire, fire officials say one home and one business were impacted. suspect accused of hurling a molotov cocktail at a delaware county sheriff sergeant face is a rain. this morning this all happened yesterday afternoon in collindale as the sergeant was serving a search warrant at a home on macdade boulevard. sergeant suffered burns to his legs. authorities say the suspect then barricaded himself inside of a home before he finally surrendered. on an eyewitness describes the intense scene. >> he turned around and throw a bomb outside and everybody heard the explosion and more cops came from all over and they had the guns drawn. >> the sergeant was taken to the hospital for treatment, but is expect to be okay, authorities tell "eyewitness news" that they found what they believed to be several more molotov cocktails inside the suspect's home. sixteen former penn state

back on cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning, two people were trapped when this double decker bus crashed in the row of shops in london's lavender hill neighborhood, bus careened into the plate glass window of the kitchen shop and then two passengers were pinned on the upper decks. ten other people on the lower deck were injured including the driver, now driver says he may have blacked out and does not remember what happened.

hurricane franklin has weakened to a tropical storm after making land fall in mexico earlier this morning. storm's still expected to pack a punch threatening a mountainous region already prone to dangerous flash flood and mud slide, franklin strengthened into the first hurricane of the atlantic season yesterday, and made land fall in eastern mexico as category one hurricane packing wind in excess of 85 miles an hour. >> kind of back here at home yesterday was beautiful. it looks like more of the same today but just more humid. >> i do want to update you on where franklin is, in fact, headed. it has made land fall still moving at that westerly clip at 15 miles an hour, so we have got some movement. this will deminish terms of the strength but remember the strength of tropical systems is determined by wind speed. it doesn't account for moisture content that this system will have. again, flooding, torrential

airport line track work every weekend in august, between 30th and airport. jan, back over to you. wal-mart is facing some backlash this morning after one of its stores had guns. near a back to school sign. take a look at this photo that went viral. several people posted it on twitter asking what were they thinking. it shows a sign over a gun case reading own the school year like a hero. placement was quickly criticized, wal-mart apologized, condemned it, calling it truly awful and horrible. it that is time have the year again when kid go back to school, right. >> mom in alabama became an overnight sensation after posting a hilarious back to school photo on facebook. that is would the man lounging on the pool float with the drink in hand. her children standing nearby in school gear and not looking too pleased. >> i love being a mom and i love having them around but i mean when they start acting crazy.

slow down a bit. then we have an overturn vehicle north main street between colton lanes the road is closed, so use an alternate , jackson road is going to be your, best bet area there. this will slow you down as well. just a quick reminder of the water main break south broad street new geary street that happened early tuesday, left a sinkhole two right lanes are block. alternate to get around this area will be 20th street. that is just reminder. this area will start to pick up. rahel, back over to you. we are updating breaking news, police are expanding their search for home invasion suspect in philadelphia's overbrook section this happened overnight on the 5900 block of overbrook avenue. police say suspect got away with the bank card and was flagged trying to use it on city avenue. police were called and suspect got away in the vehicle we see here. major break came just a short time ago when police spot that had getaway car abandoned near

the president hasn't seen tonight person because he is at his property in new jersey while renovations are completed at the white house. havertown man claims he was just looking for a safe place to go when decide to go drive to the police station drunk. upper darby township officers say surveillance video captured sean mccollough pulling in their parking lot hitting the gate there and swerving over curb and grass before settling into a parking spot. >> they tell him to sit down. he falls down. they asked him, what was he drinking ? he wasn't sure if it was in philadelphia or trenton. he had 12 to 14 beers. >> officers say mccollough kept saying he was drunk so they arrested him. police identified suspect in the theft of the donation jar from a gloucester county diner, investigators say thinks 27 year-old anthony alberti of long beach, monday mount court i. alberti took donation jar from the harrison house diner in monmouth county. he got away in a volvo.

owner says generous customers are making up for loss of that donation jar. it has been nearly five months since murder of the burlington county mother and her six year-old son and authorities are asking for public's help in solving this crime. sascha colonari and her son, were stabbed inside their maple shade, apartment back in march. authorities reached out to the indian cultural center of south injuries any hopes it can help, the fbi has stepped into help with the investigation. >> when you have a close community like where this occurred and in the community in which it occurred, you know , people see something, they know something, they don't necessarily know it was important or maybe reluctant to come to law enforcement. we thought it might help make people more comfortable coming forward and speaking to us. >> her husband said he discovered bodies when he came home from a work happy hour party. if you have any information call the police. police in cumberland county are trying to figure out what led to the shooting in bridgeton that sent three

month for college physicals, bring your child in, well in advance of when they need that paperwork done. make sure they have their meningitis vaccines and booster, tetanus, also the flu shot, of course every year and hpv vaccine for both boys and girls. very important to get those and get that paperwork done. >> more so for students staying in the dorms. >> absolutely every college has different requirements in terms of what is needed. check with your school. they are different depending whether you are living in the dorms or homes. >> okay. >> college to high school students now a lot have student athletes are ready for fall sports some do they get physicals in now. >> please bring them in and get paperwork, there is sports physicals that literally family doctors i'm writing these out almost every day. you want to make sure your child comes in for that physical but something for important parents to know, it is your family history. if you have a family member that ever collapsed well exercising or have heart problems or problems that caused issues when they were

exercising your doctor, i, we need to know that for your child. just make sure they are eating healthy, exercising, they have good habits but bring them in for that sports physical as well. >> very good advice. so from high school to maybe grade school. >> little won. >> yes. >> they have been sleeping all different times all summer. >> they have been having a good time. >> yes. >> time for bag to school. >> you have small things in the week leading up to back to school september to help them get back to more regular sleep schedule. >> it is tough because kid staying up at night, having a little party. it is time to get back in action. i say, you know, get your child back on the schedule. have them weak up, get to sleep around the same time schedules are important for children and adults too but start this a couple weeks before the school year starts as they are back in the routine. keep temperatures on the cool side. we sleep bet when it is cooler limit distractions, make sure
