this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning. new this morning, a drive-by shooting in the northeast leaves a victim critically injured. we're live with what police know about the gunman. >> father and son back together this morning after a terrifying ordeal. the child's taken along with the carress' riding in. where the father was when this all happened. >> football is back. the eagles play their first pre-season game in greenbay. we've got the highlight. plus we're going to hear from quarterback carson wentz. >> today is friday, august 11, good morning, i'm jan carabeo. jim donovan is off today. >> it is friday, we've made it here. >> hello. >> we are excited.

>> not so excited about the construction out there. coy show you cameras for days of construction, so we'll get right into that. >> all right. still quiet weather though. still looking good. i think there may ends up being a shower or thunderstorm later this afternoon, little hint of moisture on storm scan i don't want you to worry about that, for the most part today, definitely not throw away. i think you'll start to see more clouds out there, certainly, but should have you outdoor plans, keep them. you're totally fine in that regard. could it and little bit again more cloudy throughout the day absolutely. i don't think we are talking about again a day that's all that bad at all in fact. currently around 07 degrees at the airport, 61 in atlantic city, nice calm winds up at mount pocono, heck of a lot milder than it has been in recent morning, but, we are going to heat right back up into the 80s here in the city. as the day progresses, 83 is the call. you should see some sunshine, talking isolated showers, guys , and specially late in the day. now, most prone to that, going

to be the northwest half of the area, would include the poconos, even there, if you plan to head up early maybe for weekend get away. lucky you. i do think all-in-all you will still enjoy the outdoor plans, just won't see as much sun as you've seen in previous days here, meisha, and of course we'll have the details on the upcoming weekend a little later. >> thank you so much. so lot of construction to talk about, but first, i pull attention to an accident we have out there. this is overturned vehicle with minor injuries. 422 westbound at route 23, only it looks like the far left shoulder, casino every squeezing by, and there is is a lot of activity out there. i would say even still dark, still early, we have single file lane just opening, and squeezing by, if you can avoid the area i certainly o if you cannot, i would maybe give yourself couple of extra minute, again, this is 422 westbound at route 23, overturned vehicle, with minor injuries there. then the vine closed overnight for the construction westbound and eastbound. that resurfaced project on the schuylkill, is back again overnight between gladwynn, and conshohocken, on the

westbound side, and eastbound, between gulph mills and city avenue. the left lanes are blocked there. then we also have some construction on 95 south. so 95 south at betsy ross bridge, two right lanes compromised, ramp also closed. a lot of the construction project overnight we have been talking about all week long, usually clear out by about 5:00. i'll keep my eye on those, let you know when they do. more construction 95 north between 413 and business route one, right lane compromised, see some of the cones out littering the highways. i can tell you right now most of these we have been talking about all week long, and most every these will be caring out at least through august and beyond. so these are long standing overnight project that will start to hurt you just little bit. we will be talking about more construction when we come back in the next ten minutes, jan, rahel, back over to you. >> meisha, thank you. drive by shooting in northeast philadelphia, leaves a man in critical condition. >> it happened overnight in philadelphia's somerdale neighborhood. philadelphia where the victim is fighting for his life. trang, good morning, what can you tell us? >> reporter: good morning, rahel, jan, right now police do not yet have a motive for this very strange shooting in which they say both the shooter as well as the victim were driving in opposite directions on the same street. but take a lock at this video of the scene overnight. this happened just after 11:00 d several 911 calls about a man shot near the intersection of somerdale avenue and cheltenham avenue. officers arrived to find 24 year old man lying down next to the open door after volvo, with multiple gunshot wounds to his left side and his left arm. now, there was another person attempt to go render first aid medics rushed the victim to einstein medical center in very critical condition. now, chief inspect store scott small says witness accounts, anibal is i can evidence says the shooter and victim were in the driver seat of their cars head in the opposite directions on somerdale. he says the victim was stopped at a light, gunman, pulled up, opened fire. >> the driver door window is shot out, as well as the

passenger door window, also shot out. we found a projectile in the driver seat of the victim's vehicle. so it appears that he was sitting in the driver seat when he was shot. >> and police say there were several witnesses who describe the shooter as driving a white car, possibly a 2010 buick, they say he was headed north on somerdale avenue. but for now, live from einstein medical center. i'm trang do, cbs-3, " eyewitness news," jan, rahel, back to you. >> thank you, authority in camden county are investigating a crash in cherry hill that killed a pedestrian. >> chopper three over that scene, on route 38, longwood avenue, just before 10:30 last night. authorities tell us one person was mitt hit by a vehicle and died at the scene. it is unclear if the striking vehicle stayed on the scene. eastbound 38 was closed at cuthbert boulevard while authority investigated. >> father watches in horror as a carjacker makes off with his three year old son strapped in the back seat. police say the father parked his still running car at the

roosevelt mall around 4:30 yesterday afternoon, the father left his toddler son inside of the car and ran into the kixx usa. that's when he spot add man pulling away with his car and his son. suspect drove about a mile then stopped, got out to place the child still in his carseat on the sidewalk. >> made positive identification of the same person that had jumped in his car and taking the vehicle with his infant son. >> police found the stolen car and arrested the suspect on the 6800 block of torresdale avenue just after 7:00 last night, thankfully that child was not hurt and was reunited with his father. >> former executive charged with defrauding the west chester company. james jamie salcowski stole more than $1 million, used first class travel, resorts, clothing, prepaid gift cards, he was fired in 2013. qvc released this statement. at qvc we take allegations of

unlawful or unlawful business conduct on the part of our employees and business partners very seriously, in addition to conducting a thorough investigation into this matter, we have been cooperating fully with authorities. >> in other news, there is no let up in the war of words between the us and north korea two days after threatening, fire and fury, president trump has now gone even further. president addressed the confrontation with kim jong un twice yesterday afternoon. take a listen. >> people questioning that statement was maybe wasn't tough enough. >> his disrespecting our country greatly. he has said things that are horrific. and with me he is not getting away with it. >> last night north korea responds wad warning of its own saying the us now faces quota shameful defeat and final doom. the communist country has announced to hit guam with four missiles. >> preliminary hearing for 16 penn state fraternity brothers

charged in the alcohol fueled death after pledge is expected to continue into its fifth day today. yesterday the judge heard bombshell testimony from a detective who alleges that someone purposely footage from the february night the night piazza died. district attorney talked about that video outside of court. >> you saw the video of upstairs. and if they choose to delete that video, which a logical person might say it must be worse, then what could it possibly show and why would you delete it unless it shows culpability toward some crime? >> now the judge in this case is trying to decide if there is enough evidence to send this case to trial. attorneys for the fraternity brothers argue their clients did not force piazza to drink and should not be held responsible for his death. >> police in south philadelphia are searching for two suspect today after an argument over a parking spot that ends wad woman being pepper sprayed in the face.

this happened on july 24th, just after midnight, near pat's steaks on the 1300 block of east passyunk avenue. police say after the confrontation, over this plot, the suspect, man and woman, walk away to buy food, when they returned, the female suspect appeared to pepper spray the victim. >> something minimal, that could have been resolved, with a bit more civil at this, and result nag crime, and this all happened. >> honestly, i don't feel like anyone should be pepper sprayed. >> street park something public, really nothing to dispute. >> both suspect got away in a black hyundai suv with maryland license plates. police are asking anyone with information to give them a call. and in other news this morning, the eagles first pre-season game is now in the books. >> yes, it isment eagles starter didn't play a lot against the packers but what we saw from carson wentz and company was pretty good. wents was four for four for 58 , watch it go, touchdown pass to rookie matt collins on the very first drive.

specially tonight, into tomorrow, looks like it will be the case here. right now things still looking very, very quiet. we overlook betsy ross bridge well off in the distance here in center city, just behind me here, at least, though, the clarity quite nice. you can definitely make out that center city skyline, it is all clear. we do have a few clouds starting to build in across the delaware vale, but no wet weather yet. that's something that will change, how much, courtesy of frontal boundary that will be crossing through the area. see heavier rounds every showers working their way up through north central pennsylvania. some of this, it looks like it is trying to clip parts of the north and west most suburbs, i don't think do you have worry too much about this, guys. first half of the day, a-okay, all-in-all, you will see some sunshine, but again with time, clouds start to rebuild. many of you through the north and western suburbs may pick up a shower if not rumble of thunder. all-in-all, pretty good day. if you have outdoor plans, you're good. you'll start to in the more clouds, more humidity. that's the lynch pin here, as when it pertain to your

comfort level of course. later tonight drop down to 71, showers, thunderstorms likely, they will, in fact, linger into tomorrow. but in scattered fashion, so not everyone will be getting hit at any given time. but, it does appears some of the heaviest rain will likely be rolling through in the second half of the day. for once, things are looking up for us. i think it actually get better come sunday, monday, so what looked like unsettled weather continuing, meisha, hey, right now, i think we have sunshine monday, sunday, high of 85. >> gorgeous, bummer saturday looks little rainy but if we can take two for one i'm you there w thanks so much, katie. looking outside right now, so we have an accident, an overturned vehicle, minor injuries, 422, westbound, at route 23, only the far left shoulder was kind of squeezing by, and hopefully, that looks like it is starting to remedy itself, squeeze out of your way. vine closed for the construction, westbound site now open. eastbound side we are still waiting on you. so the westbound side, that's getting by, eastbound i'll let you know as soon as you clear.
