tell but breaking news, shots fired outside a busy northeast philadelphia target store, one man was hit, one person is new in custody, good evening i'm a natasha brown. we will get to summer fest in a moment but first on this afternoon shooting near a target that brought out swat team. this happened in the parking lot of a store in the 7400 block of bustleton after knew. lets get a look here from chopper three live over the scene. twenty-nine year-old victim was rushed to the hospital after the gun fire erupted. the store was evacuated. police moved in for a thorough sweep, and this is generally a busy area, with many stores, nearby, and lots of traffic in that area. our alexandria movies on the way to the scene and, of course, we will continue to follow this breaking story throughout the newscast as well, also tonight we are taking you, as we said on a tour of new hope, bucks count i part of the cbs-3 summer fest celebration switching gears here and that is where nicole brewer is live right

now for us, nicole. >> that is right, hi there in a cash a what a charming place , we are situated out in front of the bucks county playhouse situated right along main street, and it is a little warm but not too hot. we are lucking out here this evening. town of the new hope has been a stapel in bucks county for many, many years and at one point, this is a place where mills employed much of the town. so very rich history, fast forward to today and we have a picturesque place where artists and mom and pop shops are thriving. you turn a corner and in this creative place and you are bound to find something new. drive, walk, bike, or travel the tracks, no matter how you get to new hope, pennsylvania you will be charmed by the experience. >> when i came oute, i came from milwaukee, and i was used to an artistic community. my aunt told me go to new hope you'll find split.

>> reporter: from the brick pavers to the canopy of green ery around every corner this town invites artists to capture natural beauty, new hope's scenic landscapes have been a big draw for creative people looking for an eclectic community to see the early 1900's. >> i think it was just the scenery, the landscape here, for the impression painters, and that involved -- evolved in the 1900, 1905 just north of here and once you get one noted artist hoist known nationally, international, and then, of course, it is all of his buddies. >> everyone knew each other this were very friendly and very sharing with all of their secrets. >> reporter: long before the sculptors painters and free spirits moved into town, new hope was a hub of commerce for bucks county, two things drove the economy in the 1700s, transportation, and water power. >> because we had logging, and different things with the mill is here, silk mill million, we

had different industries, operating here and we had canal, barges were coming up, between bristol all the way up to easton and they were taking goods back and bringing goods back down. >> reporter: by the time benjamin perry came to town in 1781 he owned mills on both side of the delaware river. when one of the mills burned down he rebuilt, naming it new hope mill giving his business, and his town, a brand new identity. >> they rebuilt the mill, then it said, there is new hope for this town. so then we came new hope and then we became new hope parks. >> reporter: it lives on in the form of the bucks county playhouse, it burdened in the theater in 1930's when building was facing possible demolition and then in continuing operation until 2010, remodeled and reopened in 2012. the art, music and continue to

draw people to this day looking to new hope for a night of theater, food, fun, locals say reason they stay is because of the feeling. >> well, if you have a problem , there is people that are stepped in and help you when they can, they are a very caring group of people here. >> pretty special when you border delaware river and still have canal coming through town and nice place to live. >> when you explore this historic town make sure you ask shop owners about the buildings themselves because so often, it is hard to find a spot that wants touched by war or art, or something in between. so many interesting things. here in this town. someone who we know a little bit about that is the annette rosenberg she's joining me here this afternoon with the new hope visitors center. you know all about what makes this town so great. we have talk about the new hope feeling in that piece. it ace live and well tonight, right. >> yes, it is, very exciting town.

we get visitors all over the world, nicole, they come here for our rich history, exciting live entertainment, our fine dining, unique shops as you mentioned and also a warm, welcoming diverse community. >> that is you do get that feeling when you come down along main street it is a creative place and get sense of a lot of different people that add to the interesting factor i think. you mentioned main street with the shops, restaurants, and talk to us a little bit about what people can expect what specific places would you tell them to go if they were to come to new hope. >> well, we have live theater, throughout the year, 12 months of the year we have something at the bucks county playhouse which has been refurbish right on the river as well. we also have fine dining, you have options thaw can sit outside along the river, sit in the converted church, you can sit outside and people watch. we have a wide variety of taste budd, menus for everyone and shops are all individually owned operated so you will find a wide variety of items

thaw just cannot find in a mall or on line and most of them some are even hand crafted by the shop owners themselves. >> we also want to talk about the neighboring communities because it is in the town of new hope nestled in a unique area there is access to other fantastic places. >> you can actually walk across the bridge, located in the center of town, to lambertville, new jersey. in the winter we have a winter fest with new hope and our sister community lambertville. we're only about 5 miles north of peddler's village so we are pretty much situated in the heart of the bucks county surrounded buy a lot of different activities, events that the whole family can enjoy. >> folks are watching, it is friday night, weather is right , what do you want to say to the folks at home. >> come on down we have valet parking if you think parking could be a possible issue, come on down we will also have a trolley starting very soon to kind of move people around town a little bit more conveniently. great night to walk along the

hot. it is pretty nice out here. we any our lauren casey's standing by overlooking the delaware river. picturesque place to be on a friday night, isn't it, lauren >> absolutely, nicole i'm in a cute little cozy nook tucked in by delaware river, some ducks chilling, people coming in taking the view lambertville just across the river, really nice. we have cloud in place but almost nice with the overcast conditions because would it feel a little bit steam which that sun beating down but we have cloud in place across the delaware valley right now but some shower activity is moving through parts of the area lehigh valley, western berks county, poconos seeing this rain moving on through. no lightening detected as of right now but we could see lightening develop within this area of thunderstorm activity because we have heating of the day to contend work temperatures in the lower 80's in philadelphia, 80 in wilmington. temperatures in the 70's down the shore and rain cooled air in the poconos we have fallen back down in the 60's.

we have more on our break ing news shooting at a northeast philadelphia target store, alexandria movies live at the scene for us, she's got very latest, alex? >> reporter: natasha we are here at target shopping center on bustleton avenue and finished talking to commissioner richard ross. he tells us around 3:30 police were called to the target after reports of the group of males fighting and shots fire. when police arrived they found a man had been shot in the parking lot, of the store. now that man was taken to the hospital, with non-life

threatening injuries. but this was dramatic because during this time, shoppers were instructed to shelter in place. one family we spoke with said that they ran into a stockroom in the back of the store. all right. here's what you have to keep in mind they right now police are still on the hunt for the shooter. he was seen, fleeing in a red hyundai sonata and unclear at this point if the male victim was the intended target of all of this. the commissioner said that in total about five rounds were shot, and this male victim was hit just once and then again, will be okay. now again back to this store we have seen customers returning now to get their cars, those who ran from the property there are coming back in just hours the scene has been cleared but still very much an ago i have investigation in terms of the being a crime scene. we will keep you up to date from out here, at this point police are still in the staging positions but we are told that the scene has been cleared, they will be treating

this as a crime scene. reporting live, i'm alexandria hoff for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> alex, thanks very much for that. another busy day for the eagles, they had trade to help their secondary but they had to give up one of their most reliable players, quite a surprise, leslie. >> there have been trade rumors for a little while concerning jordan matthews but he has been eagles most consistent receiver over last three years but he was heading in the final year of his rookie deal so the possibility of him leaving and bird traded and got a player that fits a need on defense. eagles traded him with next years third round pick to buffalo for cornerback ronald darby. matthews, a second round pick in 2014 had 225 catches and 19 touchdowns in his three years with the bird but with the eagles, then signing alshon jeffery and torey smith to go with nelson agholor and matt hollins, jordan was dispensable.

welcome back. we are here in new hope bucks count which our cbs-3 summer fest celebration, of course, lauren casey standing by because we want to know how this weekend is shaping up. it sounds like it is a half and half weekend, what do you think? >> yes, definitely if you do have those indoor plans catch a movie, maybe do some household chores, maybe not, but saturday will be day to do that and then sunday is looking pretty good, for weekend forecast but we will to have get through some storms first. temperatures right now across the area we're in the 80's, 70 's on the board but feeling warmer then that because we have that humidity factor. temperature right now 82 degrees in philadelphia we're at 79 in allentown.

sixty's in the poconos with some rain in the area temperatures right now in the upper 70's along the coast. big change in the dew point over last 24 hours dew points up in the mid to upper 60's indicating we have a steam factor returning and that is going to stick with us as we head through the day tomorrow. dew points rising in the up are 60's to 70 so expect humid day and sunday on the back side of the cold front those dew points are dropping down and staying on the lower side as we head into monday as well storm scan three showing us we have showers and storms, developing across western and central pennsylvania, and association with a slow moving cold front that will generate showers, thunderstorms across the delaware valley as we head in the overnight period and late evening hours we could see prefrontal cells developing keep an eye to the sky after nine or 10:00 o'clock hour and especially after midnight we will see numerous showers and thunderstorms moving across the delaware valley. quiet things down in the first half of the saturday but still could see spotty showers,

storms but as we get in the broad heating of the day as cold front makes a closer approach during afternoon and evening tomorrow we will see another round of scatter showers and thunderstorms developing and a few of those storms could be on the strong side so keep yourself aware of the changing weather situation as we head through the day tomorrow but then by sunday, sunshine break out making for a great end to the weekend and heading down the shore watching out for those afternoon showers, thunderstorms tomorrow a high temperature of 80 degrees but improving conditions by sunday , lower humidity, mixture of sun and cloud with a high of 83. overnight tonight things more active with showers and thunderstorms likely low temperature falling back to 07 r saturday, cloudy, humid with those scattered showers and thunderstorms developing as we head in the afternoon hours, a high temperature in the city of 83. sunday looks like a nice day, sunshine with that warm comfortable humidity on monday , dry conditions but turning cloudy as we head into tuesday, rain chance returning but we will have a dry stretch

well, with heated rhetoric coming from both the trump administration and north korea international pressure to find a peaceful solution to the north korea missle threat is building. senior u.s. diplomate tells the associated press that back channel diplomacy with north korea continues tonight as it has for several months. >> president trump met with his secretary of state and u.n. ambassador to discuss next steps with north korea, president tweeted that the u.s. military is quote locked, loaded if north korea acts unwisely, north korea is promising a nuclear war if the u.s. strikes first. that kind of rhetoric prompted russian's foreign minister says he believes a risk of the military conflict on the

city philadelphia hit and run. police today released this photo of a person of interest that they want to talk with as well as i much better photo of the vehicle they are now looking for a white jeep wrangler rubicon on sunday police say the jeep was involve in the hit and run that claim the life of the five three-year old ann broad rick as she was crossing the street. it has a high level of the costume says. >> this jeep had very distinct fenders, it had black fenders, it has a white top and on the hood of the jeep is vents on both side of the jeep hood. so it had sus tomorrow says after it left the factory. >> it happened in the 1300 block of race street, if you have any information, please cat police, right away. and one new york man is setting out to prove he is stronger then you think, he is here in philadelphia, for an armrest will go competition

, mother nature. we have been dry so far today, skies looking cloudy, steamy but still great weather, right now, it is adorable little area right by the delaware river, people coming down passerby with ice cream cones in hand checking out the views feeding the ducks, boots full evening to close out workweek in new hope. temperatures right now running a few degrees below our average but same steam factor return to the atmosphere. temperature in philadelphia 82 d air in the poconos. we're at 65. temperatures in the 70's down the shore. 79 degrees in allentown where we have had an area of showers continuing to work through area over last couple of hours , stretch up in the poconos as well as maryland rate to even period of the heavy rainfall throughout the afternoon. we have much more activity up wind, that is going to be moving itself eastbound as we head in the evening and overnight. so as we head in the first part of the evening most of those cells will be concentrated west of i-95 but
