in custody. good evening be i'm ukee washington >> i'm nicole brewer brewer in for jessica dean. here's where things stand as we speak. officials say theory still looking for the van's driver who plowed down pedestrian walkway for seven blocks. police shot and killed another suspect who they say ran down two officers at a traffic blockade nearby. of isis is now claiming responsibility for the van attack as police in spain link it to a deadly explosion yesterday. meantime we spoke to people flying to spain from philadelphia international airport who say they are concerned but don't want to let what happened ruin their trip. >> i was where this pretty much happened. of and they're not telling us, they've moved people for tonight. but they said tomorrow they don't know yet. i've called american express travel and marriott and star wood. they don't know what to do. >> doesn't bother me one bit. i feel sorry for the people that got killed. outside of that, we're going.

>> on twitter, president trump said the united states condemns the terror attack in barcelona, spain. and will do whatever is necessary to help the tough and strong we love you. the attack in barcelona has many wondering about local preparedness against similar acts of terror. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is live at philadelphia police headquarters, where officials just wrapped up a news conference how the city plans to keep everybody safe. david? >> reporter: nicole barcelona may feel like a long way away and philadelphia police officials don't want to scare people. they want to let them know they're prepared. tonight, there is a big night going on, dinner on bulletin shows show up from around the tri-state area, they won't announce where it is. it's a dinner a lot of people come out. events like dinner on bl.

he says events like dinner on blanc have had blockades for ten years now, he says that these and other events are constantly watched and he wanted to make the point because you don't see police it doesn't mean they're not paying close attention. >> we got to be prepared for this, we're putting a lot of resources for every special event no matter how large we're putting a lot of resources prior to the event and during the event. a lot of those, the efforts we're putting in place, you don't see. of they're nonvisible. >> reporter: commissioner wilson also said during the news conference that they actually send members of the police department overseas when stuff like barcelona happens to train them to teach them the latest tactics, so that's what the police department is focusing on keeping people safe tonight but they say if you have any questions, you have any concerns they will come out to a private business. if you want to talk about security. reporting live. david spunt, cbs3 "eyewitness news."

millville, 83 in trenton, sea breeze kicked in at the shore but dealing with the feels like temperatures feeling more like 85 in wildwood, 86 in atlantic city, 90s in dover and feeling like 90 right now in reading. stormscan 3 showing us generally quiet conditions as a couple of showers developing across portions of cumberland county and salem county new jersey, one in sussex and we have the cell forming out of extreme northeastern maryland that could nudge it's way over towards newark and glass co, heads up. as we look overnight tonight, we'll see that chance of a spotty evening shower, most of us staying dry and more action tonight, scattered thunderstorms developing late going to be a humid night with a low temperature only falling back to 74, then extremely humid tomorrow with thunderstorms both potentially in the morning and in the afternoon. but the time frame of concern with the higher coverage and higher intensity of these storms is going to be later in the day, a high temperature the a 88. so what to expect strong thunderstorms looking likely

time frame of concern, 3:00 to 11:00 p.m. heavy rain is likely, tropical like downpours gusty winds possible. and also the possibility of a spin of tornado especially south of the city. future weather showing us overnight mainly quiet and we'll start to see activity flaring up late tonight, early tomorrow morning, this particular model might be under playing this activity, other models are giving a little more in the way of scattered storm activity especially closer to the coast tomorrow morning, we'll see it kind of a quiet period, towards midday, potentially breaking out that will further destabilize an extremely unstable atmosphere tomorrow so we got that. of we definitely have the moisture, and a cold front moves in, provides a lift to the atmosphere and that's a recipe for this line of strong and potentially severe storms, squall line traversing area late afternoon and evening, maintains its strength, many models suggesting that as it traverses the delaware valley as we head to 10:00 and 11:00.
