coverage continues on line at cbsphilly.com. back here at home, developing right now, the frank rizzo statue in philadelphia is vandalized for third time, in just the past few days. >> "eyewitness news" reporter trang do live with a look at the damage, morning, trang. >> good morning, jim, rahel. the statue just power washed yesterday after egged twice, take a look now, there is a perimeter of police tape surrounding the statue after this latest act of vandalism, also number of patrol cars, now stationed here, overnight, a woman came and covered up the graffiti with a blanket, after hearing the news that the statue had been defaced. take a look at the video of the damage. sometime late thursday night, someone walk up to the statue, of former mayor and police commissioner frank rizzo, and spray painted the phrase black power on it. it was the third day in a row the statue was vandalized calling call for it remove by council women gym and others who say police brutality against african-americans was ram ted during rizzo's ten

europe, a woman who identified herself as debbie came out, covered the statue with a blanket says knowing who criticize rizzo did not know him. >> i just was really upset that somebody would take the time out to do hatred, like they just did, to a statue, to a man, who has been not alive for 20 years, who did a lot of compassionate things for a lot every people in the city of philadelphia. so if everybody would say, you know, we live in a city city of brotherly love, it is just very upset that people will come down to do this kind of stuff and demoralize our city like this. >> so there was a heavy police presence here anbar kids set up just yesterday after the first act of vandalism is unclear why those officers and these barricades were removed. the spray painting happened shortly after that happened. meanwhile, debbie said she plans to stay out here across from city hall and wait for mayor kenney to get to work so she can discuss this with him. but for now, liver from center sit, i'm trang do, cbs-3, "

eyewitness news," rahel, jim, back to you. >> thank you, trang. new this morning crews rush to the scene of hospital fire in montgomery county. authorities say the fire broke out in the basement of abington lansdale hospital. that car came -- that call came in after 2:00 a.m. fire contained to the basement , quickly placed under control. there were no evacuations, no one was injured. authorities still trying to figure out what sparked that fire. >> well, in lighter news this morning, football back in south philly but the birds have some questions to answer for the game's start to count. >> the offense continues to struggle, but the defense look good. birds and bills last night at the linc. the eagles new cornerback, ronald darby, had an interception. he pick off a pass and returned 48 yards. darby just joined the eagles from the bills in the trade for jordan matthews. on the offense side of the ball, the birds could not convert a third down. carson wentz best drive of the net ended fumble, lots every penalties in this game, as well, the birds winds up winning 20-16.

"eyewitness news" at the scene overnight at 13th and christian streets. authorities say the driver lost control and crashed into the home, causing significant damage. there is no word on if anyone was inside the house at the time of that crash. >> meanwhile, in south jersey, police are investigating after a driver somehow tumbled out of her moving car. chopper three, was over route 42, in north depford.

forty-two north in depford, police say the car was going around 06 miles per hour, when the woman fell on to the grounds. she was returned to the hospital with serious injuries well, now to incredible story, authorities say the shore, down the shore, strong sun glare may have caused a operator to open draw bridge while family was drying across it, it happened weeks weeks ago lower township the middle thorofare bridge that connects the southern end of wildwood to cape may, the family says they paid the toll, and made it to the middle of the bridge , that's when it suddenly began to raise about three, 6 feet into the air. parent says he had no choice but to hit the gas, barely clearing the widening gap. >> we landed with a big impact on the other side on the concrete on the other side, so at that point we realize philadelphia wasn't open just a little bit. >> well, everyone inside of the car including the young daughter and her friends suffered just few bumps and bruises, their suv, well, that sustained about $10,000 worth

>> well, all eyes will be on the skies on monday for the solar eclipse, including five friends, who made a promise to see the stellar event nearly 40 years ago. >> elena, mary rose, and amy and holly watched their first total solar eclipse back in 1979. they were freshmen then at all -girls high school in trenton. thirty-eight years later the group now calling themselves the solar sisters, are finalizing their trip to missouri where they expect a perfect view of the eclipse. >> so futuristic at the time,

this, oh, we're so planning. >> this so what we've got going on out there today, my friends, some pretty stormy and very steamy weather. you can understanded why. there is a very well defined storm system working it way through, one front lifting through as we speak, still awaiting the colds front passage that will take place later today specially at night so, we are going to see rounds of showers come through here, as well as some thunderstorms. the downpours are going to be a problem, i think, we might even have some flashflooding later today, in fact, flashflood watch goes into effect for good portion of the region at 2:00 p.m. here is the severe weather threat. not shock by this. yesterday, was marginal. now upgraded to slight chance, or slight risk, for severe weather today. just one category higher in terms of that threat. maine impacts are heavy downpours, freak went lightning however as well a possibility, then some strong winds. we can't rule out hail. we can't rule out tornado. it will be something we've got to watch. but those are the primary three impacts, wind, rain and lightning. now, at the moment, i do expect that you are going to see skies, you know, break out for some sunshine, but again, some of the storms will rumble

through late throughout the afternoon and into tonight. they could be locally severe. those storms will gradually draw to close later on tonight then tomorrow, we should clear out nicely, for pretty decent looking three day stretch here it is hot. i'll give that you. the humidity starts to drop off into sunday specially. monday still specking sunshine , keeping the fingers cross, it stays that way, at the moment i expect at least fair if not really good viewing conditions for the eclipse. >> awesome. we will take it, you know what , we take what we can get. thanks so much. happy friday to you. we're looking outside right now to some construction, 95 at the betsy ross bridge, pulled off to the left. not going to slow you down too much, still too dark, too early, plus it is friday, one of the lighter travel days of the work week, as well. more construction out here in bucks county, route one northbound, oxford valley, all lanes blocked: re-enter onto oxford valley. should be lingering until 6:00 . speaking of, bucks county, 95 north between route 413, business route one, the left lane is compromised, crews might be moving out of the way , and the vine, not closed overnight for the construction

>> looking ahead to a day of potentially severe weather as we await the passage after colds front. warmfront lifting in, cold front has to cross through. live view, live neighborhood network, middle and high schools up in brodheadsville, nearing the poconos, where summer fest is taking place here today. yes, i feel like we've drawn the short straw friday forecasting, looks like we've had wet weather for so many of our summer fesses, activities going on, but at the moment, things do look dry here, tough to tell with the street lamp, but we do have heavier thunderstorms rumbling through , right across the border of lehigh northampton counties, up toward the poconos, so you're wacking up potentially their not the
