triggered tornado warnings for several counties in our area, good evening, i'm jessica dean. >> i'm nicole brewer, ukee has the night off. let's get to meteorologist lauren casey, tracks where the storms are happening right now. lauren? >> thanks so much, we do now have a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for philadelphia and all immediate suburbs in effect until midnight tonight. remember a warning means that severe weather emp intent, this contains the potential of 60 miles per hour winds and quarter size hail torrential rainfall and continuance lightening, we've had multiple reports of downed trees and wires as this line came through western parts of area, berks county, the lehigh valley and poconos, right now, heavy rain stretching from montgomery to norristown, west goshen to marple, that will continue to move east, so looking at center city philadelphia timing really

within the next 15, 20 minutes in the upper darby area about 11.11 and potentially if the line holds together in the cherry hill area at 11:27, moving southbound, starting to move into the wilmington area with the latest update torrential rain coming down. now that lightening started to strike in and around wilmington, that's the strongest portion of this line of severe thunderstorms off to the east about 40 to 50 miles per hour and the warning is extended into parts of south jersey as well as the line is expected to maintain its strength as it crosses over i95 corridor, and then we'll likely weak he want as it traverses further over portions of south jersey but still in the immediate we have that warning in effect until midnight, a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until midnight, we'll talk more, another update of stormscan 3, when the storms will dry out in your full

accident after the u.s.s. john mccain has ties to our area, >> alexandria hoff has the details from cherry hill. >> his father and i couldn't be powder. >> reporter: 22-year-old kenneth smith was working as an electronics technician aboard the u.s.s. john mccain when it collided with a tanker ship early monday in the waters of southeast asia. he and nine fellow sailors had been missing since. >> his father was in the navy, his step mother had been in the navy. my father was in the navy. >> reporter: smith's mother now lives in michigan but smith spent his seen year year of high school locally attending cherry hill east. he was president of the video game uncle, according to his 2013 year book photo off the coast of singapore, the commander of the u.s. pacific fleet said while some bodies have been recovered from sealed compartments they've yet to be identified. the search for smith and missing comrads continues. >> smith's father still lives in

seeing flashes of lightening and hearing those rumbles of thunder and you can see that as we get a live look at center city philadelphia. right now, conditions demonstrate deteriorating as its makes it's way into center city, we have a human thunderstorm, does include philadelphia and immediate suburbs until midnight for the path of totality of 60 miles per hour winds and awkward sized hail and dealing with torrential rainfall right now, moving off to the east at about 40 to 50, starting to move in the bala-cynwyd area, heads up in glenside, heavy rain starting to exit the norristown area, philadelphia rainfall intensity is only going to increase, pulling right now in upper darby down into ridley chester, inclement conditions taking over at the airport, could cause delays, also that you say line now crossing overtime river into

working parts south jersey right now into portions of gloucester county and also salem county, you're next, had a wind damage report out of the wilmington when this portion of the line came through with large tree branchs, gusty winds imbedded and you can see this line is continuing to move off to the east the at about 40 to 50 miles per hour, we'll have to watch out in south as we head to the next 30, 45 minutes, it does have a history of producing a lot of storm reports and lehigh county, a lightening strike inducing a house fire, 50 miles per hour wind gusts and penny size hail, kutztown and other portions of berks county, several other pourings in berks county, hitting homes over an inch of half in rainfall in montgomery county and 30 minutes time, then another home struck by a lightening in shoemakersville berks, this is a strong potent line of storms that will continue to work its way east as we head to 1:00, 2:00 hour, storm activity
