lightening, thunder, wind and rain this was the scene in center city earlier this morning. we saw strong storms moving through in the early morning hours, chances are some may have woke you up. >> certainly woke me up. >> storms did leave behind damage in sellersville bucks county where lightening may have sparked a house fire on the 600 block of east temple road, fortunately in one was hurt there. magnolia camden county part of the basement wall collapsed, this happened on the 500 block of beverly drive and believed that the heavy rain caused the ground to buckle. >> live look at storm scan

three shows is what left of the storms moving out to sea, we could see showers this morning but rest of the day will be much different. today's wednesday, august 23rd , happy hump day, good morning i'm jim donovan. i'm rahel solomon. katie's off, chelsea and meisha are keeping an eye on things, this morning. >> good morning, welcome to the crazy party. >> glad to be here. >> sleep deprived still. we are looking outside, storm scan through obviously. we will have remnants on the road. we are seeing down traffic signal lights, stuff like. that overall i have to say no real problems on the major highways and roadways. >> that is good news. we will see improving weather throughout the day-to-day and how about the rest of the week , right. >> yes. >> here's storm scan three we are monitoring a couple sprinkles here and there but overall things have quieted down. we have had nasty storm that rolled through earlier and that did cause flooding in some locations but things are looking better and better as morning progresses.

temperatures right now checking in the 70's. seventy-six in philadelphia. seventy-four millville. mid up toker 70's. seventy-seven in wildwood. right around 75 in atlantic city. cool spot around mount pocono at 65. those showers and storms associated with the cold front behind the front more comfortable air and also some cooler air heading our way, comfort index today not too bad we will notice humidity in the first half of the day but dew points falling, feeling good-bye thursday and friday and then especially this weekend is looking nice. quick check of the future weather, cloud decreased throughout the day, shower possible for areas south ande but overall meisha, we will see increasing sunshine as we head in the afternoon. really nice weather will be heading our way not just today but for next several days. how are road looking. >> that is awesome news. roads are looking okay, i have to say, we have got a couple minor spots but overall things are looking good, things are

today investigators from the ntsb will be in upper darby interviewing septa train operator involved in yesterday 's crash that injured 33 people, that train on norristown high speed line, collided with a parked train at 69th street station, officials say it somehow over ran its stop, and authorities say they are now checking the vehicles and safety systems. >> we are going to be here on the scene for four or five days collecting our evidence. once we are finished here we will continue investigation back in our home headquarters in washington d.c. and eventually when we finish investigation nine to 12 months from now final rorrer will be available to the public. >> meanwhile "eyewitness news" has learned that the train's operator is providing samples for drug and alcohol testing. new jersey politicians are mourning sudden loss of the state senator jim whelan, whelan represented atlantic county asiana semmably man starting in 2006 and as a senator two years later before that the democrat was three term mayor of atlantic city,

city schoolteacher and life guard. whelan did in the seek re election in november. he had kidney surgery last month. in word on his cause of death. jim whelan was 68 years old. in a statement governor chris christie said i came to know jim as a forthright, honest leader whose word was his one. current come back of atlantic city is due in no small part due to the efforts and passion of jim whelan. senate president sweeney said jim was rarely one to raise his voice but he was a advocate for atlantic city, a city loved, and determined to see it thrive. in other news u.s. navy is expect to dismiss commander of the seventh fleet after a series of collisions, and according to u.s. officials, dismissal of admiral joseph o coin comes after the crash of u.s.s. john s mccain second major collision in the pennsylvania few months involving seventh fleet, seven sailors died in june when u.s.s. fitzgerald collided in the container ship in the waters off of japan. we are also learning one

of the sailors missing after the collision of the u.s.s. john s mccain has ties to the area 22-year old kevin smith spent his senior year high school at cherry hill east. he was working as a electronic technician as board the mccain when it collided with a tanker ship near singapore on monday. he and nine other sailors remain missing. smith's mother is hopeful they will be found real soon. >> i just want to be over there searching. his father and i could not be prouder then our son. >> military officials say some bodies have been recovered but they have yet to be identified probably not what you want to hear with a week and a half left of summer, two beaches on the bay side of long beach island are closed because of high bacteria levels. bay beaches at new jersey avenue and stock exton avenue in long beach township are currently off limits, officials have issued an advisory for bay beach at 16th street and surf city for very same reason. well, i'm buying mine have you bought yours? we are talking about tonight's pur ball jackpot now worth 700

this growing inferno in yesemite national park. the fire which began last week has grown to 3,000 acres. national park service issued a mandatory evacuation order for residents in the nearby towns, more than 750 fire fighters are working to contain this blaze. rescue workers in italy are working around the clock trying to find survivors of the devastating earthquake. >> fire fighters rescued this little boy from the ruble, just one of the three who survived after their home collapsed. 4.0 quake struck monday night in the resort town near naples , woman was killed and

there. temperatures checking in the 70's. get you out the door at 76 degrees in philadelphia 74 in millville. mid to upper 70's down the shore, 77 in wildwood. seventy-five in atlantic city. seventy-three allentown. cool spot on the map, right around 65 degrees. these showers and storms associated with the very strong cold front that is continuing to make its way south ande even at this hour we will still be stuck in the cloud for next couple hours, we could see redevelopment of the shower or storm here right along this cold front pressing to the south ande for areas south ande of philadelphia near atlantic city, millville and we will see cloud moving out. cloud will be last to move out for our shore communities and then we will see breaks of sunshine by noon time and then full sunshine as we head in the afternoon and this evening , with mostly clear skies, so things looking much better behind that front. we have lower humidity. not feeling too bad by this

afternoon but feeling pleasant , awesome heading in to thursday and friday, that is well deserved after a day like yesterday when humidity made it feel so much warmer out there turning sunny less humid 84 for that high. heading in the overnight hours get the ac a break, mostly clear, comfortable 64 degrees. quick check of your shore, 85 decreasing cloud, water temperature at 77 degrees and low risk of rip current. meisha what can we expect on the roadways this morning. >> i have to say things are looking okay. we are still seeing pooling on the side streets and smaller roads, bridges, and all that but overall, i will take you back, to what chelsea said, things are looking better. they are. forty-two freeway northbound at creek road approaching 295 this is volume contending w we will see more headlights, then what we are looking at the 4:00 o'clock hour and they will only give more so as we see. i would say that the schuylkill right now is looking good in both directions, you can see nice,
