>> well, wah, wah, you know, always nice, friday, it puts energy good mood, so we stick with that even though it is my monday, we have some showers that we are talking about this morning here as well across the delaware valley, now, they haven't quite work their way into philly just yet. but they are slope slowly getting here. we could watch for couple of scattered showers, not just in philly but the poconos, maybe even back down toward the shore points. earlier in the day they quickly clear outment look for plenty of sunshine throughout the friday afternoon. don't fret, even if you do wake up to little bit of rain, it will still be nice well into the afternoon. temperatures out, there seeing lots of low 60s, but couple of hours still on the warmer side including here in philly at 68 . little warmer wilmington, 66. but as you head up toward the poconos, only 52 in mount pocono, and it is very low on that humidity, that's been our theme the last couple of days it, will remain that way through the morning and into the afternoon, as well, meisha

1413, business route one. more construction when we come back in a bit. >> thank you, hurricane harvey now category two storm, gaining strength as it closes in on the texas gulf coast. the storm could hit land as early as tonight. weijia jiang explains why it could be the most fears hurricane to hit the us in almost a dozen years. >> the national hurricane center is calling hurricane harvey life threatening. the gulf coast of texas is right in harvey's path. residents and business owners are boarding up. >> things can change. so i err on the side of caution. >> some beach-goers in corpus christi aren't worried just yet. >> might as well get our beach time in before it hits. >> for the first time issued off recall storm surge warning for the texas coastline, the surge in corpus christi could be as high as 10 feet putting people in low high area in harms way. >> we are recommending in the strongest terms that if you live in those low-lying areas

will jump five to sent sent per gallon, workers have also evacuated from off shore oil drilling platforms ahead of the storm. this morning, police are investigating home invasion in north philadelphia. officers say just before 1:30, two armed men broke into a home on the 3,000 block of north 23rd street. one of the residents ran for the front door, she was shot in the back, and currently in critical condition. police are questioning two men , they have no motive just yet. >> two men in the hospital after an overnight shooting in east germantown, police say they heard shots the 1300 block of east rittenhouse street, just before 1:00 this morning, when they arrived the car sped from the scene. it crashed into a house blocks away, that driver is now in custody, but passenger ran away. police still looking into the cause of the shooting. >> well, police are investigating after a man is gunned down in philadelphia's kensington neighborhood. chopper three, was over the scene near north front and west lippincott street.

this was just after 9:00 last night. authority tell us the 39 year old victim was shot at least three times. he was returned to temple university hospital where he died a short time later. so far no word on motive or an arrest. community comes together to discuss ways to end hatred after racist graffiti is found on a bucks county school. >> target herbert hoover elementary school in langhorne , at the town hall meeting last night there community members addressed the gracie graffiti scribbled on the school's sign days before the beginning of the school year. investigators say hate has no place in their community. >> ugly race graffiti was found, the community is concerned about it, kids are starting back it school next week. so we thought it would be good to bring people together and talk about their concerns. >> police say nearby amounts were also vandalized, investigators believe the same person had hit both locations. the graffiti has been removed.

so far no arrests. >> well, a man is behind bars after attack in bucks county. police say woman texted 911 for help while hiding in a apartment commodore barry police it. this is the suspect, christopher hand began of collingdale, delaware county. investigators say the attack happened saturday in ben sal e authorities say emergency dispatch here received the victim's text messages, told the woman to call 911, so they could find her location from the gps on her cell phone. >> the 911 dispatchers talking through the whole process basically told her, listen, stop texting, dial 911, but don't talk. because the guy was still in the area. it may have saved her life, the technology, pretty darn close to it. >> the bail for hen began is set at 10% of $10 million. charges against him include rape and false imprisonment. some local lawmakers want federal governments to speed up the process when finding out what causes the septa train accident. street station platform in upper darby where a septa train crash happened on tuesday. a train hit the back of the non-occupied parked train, injuring 33 people. there was also a train accident in upper darby in february. congressman bob brady and upper darby mayor tom are outraged at the average lent after investigation by the nts b, brady wants congressional hearing. >> this is going to take another year, almost a year, to find out what's happened. that's unacceptable. you got to get confidence back in these riders? and ntsb spokesman said investigators are methodical and thorough and that if an immediate safety problem is identified the agency will issue an emergency alert. >> debate over controversial statues and monuments is leading to charges at richard stockton university in galloway township. the university has temporarily removed a bus at stock tan, sign err of the declaration every independence and slave owner from its display case, however part of the new

tip. brianna segal waitress at bar in woodbridge township waited on young couple actuals, she said the couple paid their bill, 20 bucks for burger and drinks, then they handed her an envelope. inside that envelope was a 1,200-dollar check. >> i didn't know if it was real. i didn't know if it was a scam the girl turned around, there is something in it, but just don't open it until you foully like leave the parking lot. >> all right, how about this? also inside that envelope was was a note that red in part, whenever it gets hard, know god's got you. the couple does remain anonymous, and god told them to give the money to someone who touched their hearts. she plans to put the money toward nursing school. she made yearly quite an impact on that family. >> talk about a generous couple. paying it forward. >> absolutely. >> time 4:45. >> matt's here with another check of the forecast. i don't know if you have a 1,200-dollar check but we'll take a good forecast. >> the forecast so nice, maybe you guys should be paying off

the meat comegys here at cbs-3 , just saying. it has been just fantastic, storm scan3 does show couple of showers, we will continue to watch these as they track early on our friday. you can actually even see little bit of maybe even more moderate rainfall, little bit north of the city at this point up through the lehigh valley. so if you do wake up this morning to few showers, don't be surprised. but the good news, we take a look at future weather, paid out by the time weep get little past sunrise or so. so they're not going to last even into the early morning hours at this point. we go with sunshine throughout our friday afternoon, heading into saturday morning. still, looking great out there and as we wrap our weekend up sunday, nothing changes, it stays warm, but not overly hot humidity stays low. and it is just going to be wonderful wonderful sunday to go along with great friday and saturday, as well. outside right now, if you are looking at our neighborhood network, you see little dark out there on the board walk rehoboth. it will be great beach day for us.

>> time for check on business news. >> meg oliver joins us live from new york, meg, good morning. so, we hear that more sears stores are coming to a close. what's the latest with that? >> good morning, jim, rahel. that's right. sears is closing more stores, as they continue to struggle with declining sales, in competition from retail giants , including wal-mart, amazon. 180 sears stores will close this year, with another 150 on the chopping block. sears holdings also plans to shut 28 k-mart stores, jim, rahel. >> that used to be the big stores in the 60s, 70s, meg, i understand good news for on line shoppers in the grocery aisle? >> that's right. amazon officially takes over while foods monday, and it will rollback prices, potentially erasing the organic grocer's unofficial name. amazon says it is trying to make organic food more

morning. we will take you up near the reading area, berks county, where we have some light and maybe even at times right through reading right now some moderate rainfall. the good news is even though we're coming out from showers here early on in the day, they'll be clearing off before sunrise it looks like, back down into delaware, as women, see middletown, through dover, back toward milford, as well, some light showers along the coastline here on storm scan3, on this friday morning. so, be prepared for that, across the area to start the day. but then again, plenty of sunshine later on this afternoon. we are going to haddonfield later today for summer fest. 80 degrees our summer fest forecast. plenty of sunshine, as well, we continue the low humidity, so it looks like it should be great if you're planning on checking out summer fest later this afternoon and this evening, temperatures for us right now, 68 degrees in philly. sixty-two down at the a.c. airport, your hour by hour forecast, top things out at 80 e sunshine, does it get any better for a friday? >> really doesn't. for a friday that's exactly

if you'd have told me three years ago... that we'd be downloading in seconds, what used to take... minutes. that guests would compliment our wifi. that we could video conference... and do it like that.
