a glorious day, went outside for lunch, walk, soaked it in. >> if you did not yesterday get another chance today. round two for some of us to wrap up our weekend. it will be a great afternoon. waking up this morning it is a clear start of the day. there is light patchy fog developing in a couple areas but overall a nice clear, quiet, sunday morning. lets take a look outside, kutztown area on our neighborhood network it is 52 degrees, sweat shirt weather on this sunday morning up in the lehigh valley and a wonderful scene there, all kinds of bright colors for us as our sun continues to rise, officially, rising at 6:23 or so this morning. we've got another 22 minutes until it officially becomes day break but until then looking for great sunrise pictures. it is not just chilly in the lehigh valley but we're in the 40's up toward mount pocono, definitely sweat shirt weather further north from the city you go. sixty-two in philadelphia lots of 50's across the rest of the

area. trenton 55 this morning. millville at 59. sixty-two, the same as our temperature here in philadelphia is what we are looking at in wildwood. down on the beach maybe cooler then that. not a bad morning, down at the shore, dew point is very low, we are looking at 50's out there, a lot of low humidity last few days and today will be not be any different. we will see dry air sitting overtop of the region making it very comfortable. 9:00 this morning we will be up to 68 degrees, have your coffee outside, sit on the back patio, sunshine for us and then we will be up to 81 degrees this afternoon. i'll update you on some things with harvey and what we can expect for week ahead coming up. >> all right, looking forward to it, thanks, matt. this morning is what left of hurricane harvey is causing devastation in texas. the storm is now being blamed for a second death in houston, woman drowned after driving in high water. first death happened in the coastal city of rockport person died in the house fire

during the storm. harvey is a tropical storm after making land fall as a category four hurricane, it is still dropping a lot of rain there in texas. houston's mayor says rain will continue, for another three to four days, the flash flood emergency is in effect, officials still don't know the full extent of the damage, the severe weather is making it hard for crews to get to the areas hardest hit. quarter million people are without power, and correspondent don champion shows us the dam age. >> reporter: harvey hammered houston overnight with torrential downpours and led to widespread flash flooding. in some areas, 14 inches of rain, fell in the span of three hours. rising waters, stranded drivers, submerged cars, prompting a warning from the cities mayor. >> let me tell you it is dropping a lot of water. and the streets are treacherous. >> reporter: as water rosa cross the region 911 centers were inundated with calls, police say one woman was

killed after she drove her car into high water and then got out. >> we heard, somebody hollering, out here, and it was ron, the man across the street, that had seen her floating face down in the water. >> oh, god bless her. so or toy hear that. >> reporter: this is video of live stream than line by houston's chief of police as he helped rescue stranded residents. >> i want you all to see this, your situational awareness, you do not have to be out here >> reporter: to the south in places like rock port and corpus christi people are cleaning up after harvey made land fall here, friday night, as a category four hurricane. now downgraded it is spoke meander over eastern parts of the texas. adding to the devastation more than a dozen tornadoes have been report add cross the region, harvey's flooding rain could impact the state for the next three days. don champion for cbs-3

"eyewitness news". and, first responders from our area are now on their way to texas, they will be helping with search, rescue efforts in the aftermath of harvey, "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh is live from the news center this morning, so how many people we talking about here. >> reporter: forty-five fire fighters from the philadelphia fire department and surrounding areas left just a few hours ago to the naval base in fort worth, texas to help with the devastation. pennsylvania emergency task force is on the road and driving 22 hours, straight, the crew includes doctors, tech specialist rescue specialist and even two kay nines bringing down water, food and other materials that will allow them to be completely self-sufficient for up to a week because once they get there, of course, they will be working around the clock. gunfire commissioner gary, explains what the team will be focusing on. >> we will be out with the people, to help from the house s and things like that but they are apt on getting into heavy concreted, building

s that have collapsed or under water and they will go in there, and search. >> now this is is what called a type three deployment which is second largest kind, it is feel, federal emergency management agency moves that up to a type one, officials here will fly 40 more personnel down to help. live from the news center this morning anita oh for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> hurricane harvey slams texas with what some people caught right in the middle of the destruction. one woman recently moved from the delaware valley to houston says that she thought she would be okay until a tornado ripped through a neighborhood. henry rossoff has her story. >> at 1:00 o'clock a tornado hit and it just rolled through the neighborhood, i have never seen, anything like it before. >> reporter: we face timed with jamie phillips, she and her family are from aston but moved to houston for her husband's job these pictures are from what neighbors believe was a tornado cause by

hurricane harvey that ripped through her neighborhood. >> about 15 hems, who roofs, one of my friends the roof is in their living room another friend had park a tree through a bathroom, and little girls, window blew out and got injured in it, and people were having to run to get to the closets, it sounded like a freight train, it was just scary. >> reporter: phillips says next issue is flooding, that is also case for brian matthews originally from just outside pittsburgh dropping off his daughter in college in austin. >> it has been raining non- stop ever since then and that is what we will than seeing as well. >> reporter: with the flooding more power outages are expected. that during the texas summer can be deadly. >> biggest concern here, is the air conditioning, it is hot. >> reporter: volunteers from local red cross chapters are all ready in texas helping out with the red cross chapters, down there, and truckloads of supplies from our area on

>> police arrested six three-year old john edward sheeran on august 16th after police say educator verbally threatened a police officer there. school district of philadelphia removed sheeran from his position as a teacher an investigation is underway. we have spoke with lee whack from the philadelphia school district who released this statement reading in part safety of our students, staff is our highest priority, this is a matter we will take very seriously. school district ace rest of his arrest but prior to his arrest mr. sheeran had been under investigation and has been removed from his school pending our investigation. meanwhile mayor kenney's office is calling out president after president trump pardoned former arizona sheriff joe arpaio, the eight five-year old was quick of ignoring a judge's order to stop racial profiling in traffic patrols. president trump called him an american patriot who kept arizona safe. mayor and his director of immigrant affairs released this statement which read, in

part, this pardon, like many of the other president's actions contradicts his professed claims for respecting the rule of law. he does not represent american values and does not represent the law enforcement officers who do their jobs with professionalism and fairness every day. that president pardon was sentenced to potential jail time but it is unusual for a president to do so, president trump did not violate any constitutional law by pardon ing arpaio before sentencing. turning to one of the most anticipated sports match ups of the entire year, floyd may weather is wrapping up his historic career with the epic win over connor mcgregor, may weather wore his opponent out in the tenth round when he scored a technical knock out to win match but despite the loss mcgregor is credited with putting on a respectable performance. may weather says he is retiring and spoke about his few tour. >> i want to help these

that clean up while the storm is churning away down along houston texas coastline, but the good news for us here closer to home, it is we don't have anything like that happening here this morning. it is a quiet scene along the shore points here, into new jersey, this is coming in from ocean city, this morning, our live picture, again, a quiet start to the day, couple people enjoying a nice cool morning down in the ocean city boardwalk. unfortunately folks along texas coastline not getting that as another day of heavy rain, and strong, gusty winds taking over along the coastline down there along the gulf of mexico. harvey, of course, a tropical storm those winds at 45 miles an hour but biggest concern and it was a concern really from the get go is just how much rain will be seen. areas of houston a city prone to flooding, galveston getting in on that heavy rainfall, already here this morning, and there is the storm scan three showing you all that moisture

coming on shore. you can see houston just covered in yellows, red, orange, at times, there has been reports of 6 inches of rain per hour, that is rainfall rate in harris county where houston is. as we zoom in, galveston has been inundated with tons of storm surge to go with all of the heavy rainfall and barrier islands further south as well. so, some strong thunderstorms there you see bay city, texas and needville area too. this is what we're concerned with now. rainfall amounts of already topped 20 inches in a few areas including houston where we have seen just over 22 inches of rain, league city has over 21 inches and lower areas in the 10 to 15-inch area already and we will expect more down long texas coastline before this is all said and done. back closer to home we will look for mostly sunny day on our sunday, nice quiet, comfortable day as we wrap up our weekend. moving into monday morning a

few cloud early on in the day but it is a dry drive to work, mixture of sun and cloud throughout our monday afternoon and then tuesday things change, not a ton of sunshine for us on tuesday, should be dry for most of the day but we could look for shower chances toward second half of the day, tuesday night and wednesday, south jersey and back down into delaware as this system stays off coastline. sunday 81 degrees for our last day of the komen three day walk. looking at our seven day forecast, 81 today. eighty tomorrow. we have scattered showers, thunderstorms as we go throughout the week but then looks great by friday and next saturday. >> i'll take it, thanks, matt. child birth is already a special event but becomes more memorable when it happens during an eclipse. baby born last week in south carolina was named eclipse, and here in our area there were a few deliveries during the big event. health reporter stephanie stahl has story of one's clips baby from abington hospital.

address. >> reporter: according to amazon it was handed to a receptionist and someone named someone signed for it. >> not me. >> reporter: he is not alone. other buyers are now, complaining on a new scam where third party sellers send your package without the product to era dress in the same city, where someone else, signs for it, creating a delivery record that prompts amazon to deny your claim. >> all amazon at current time seems to check for is that the package shows it is delivered and signed for in that same city and state. >> reporter: amazon says with the a to z guarantee customers are always protected but like others, dave's claim was denied despite fedex record not once but three times after which amazon said it may in the reply to further e-mails. we reached out to amazon which agreed to refund his money telling us amazon does not tolerate fraud and as fraud stores get smarter so do we. dave just wishes it hasn't taken several hours, three

zero seven's by lunchtime we are looking at 77 degrees, plenty of sunshine for us. we will go with a high of 81 later this afternoon and then jan, i will talk about some shower chances through middle of the week and thunderstorm as well, coming up. >> thanks, matt. this morning tropical storm harvey continues to drench texas, the storm made land fall as a category four hurricane among places hardest hit is coastal city of rock port. local sheriff there says calls came in for help during the storm but first responders simply could not get out. meanwhile he has been since dealing with flood, remnants continue to drench the region and that rain is not expected to let up anytime soon. correspondent weijia jiang shows us what people there are dealing with their, this morning. >> reporter: harvey continues to pound southeastern texas with torrential rain, and the water is rising, fast. >> it ranges from corpus christi to the houston area, perhaps as much as between 20

and 30 more inches of rain could becoming down. so there is a potential for very dramatic flooding. >> monster storm slammed in the texas gulf coast late friday night with 130 miles an hour wind, the town of rock port was hit hard, many homes and businesses are gone, torn apart by power of the category four hurricane. >> we have no idea. >> reporter: seven five-year old elton joseph's house was destroyed. >> rain in the house, the roof caved in, had a clay tile roof it is all gone. >> reporter: we met jones at only opened business in town, a coffee shop still with power thanks to a generator. matthew otero is owner. do you even recognize being port this morning. >> i do, i do but as a hurt rockport, as a fallen rockport you know. >> reporter: even before harvey hit flooding was a major concern and this is exactly why many road around here are already flooded

leaving cars stranded and even more rain is expect in the days to come. >> the movement, it is stationary, that is dangerous. we will deal with catastrophic flooding from harvey next few days. >> reporter: coastguard rescued more than a dozen people left stranded when boats started to take on water near the port and as many as 50 homes were damaged by a suspect tornado in missouri city. another possible twister forms in cypress, just outside of houston. hundreds of evacuees remained in shelters, saturday night not knowing when or what they will find when they do return home, weijia jiang for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". meantime paramedics fire fighters and rescue specialist from his our area now heading to texas, they will be helping with rescue and recovery efforts thereafter hurricane harvey. fighters in the pennsylvania emergency task force were on duty last night as well and had to grab their go bags to deploy down to fort worth, texas. forty-five members of the philadelphia fire department, and surrounding areas, left, to help with the devastation after harvey made land fall there. they are driving 22 hours straight, stopping only for fuel, and will be getting right to work upon arrival. mostly they will be focusing on search, rescue efforts in collapsed or under water buildings. deputy fire commissioner gary says relief efforts are all hand on deck. >> anything that you can think of, they are going to have on these trucks, water, food, anything at all, we even have two k-9's going, doctors going , we have rescue specialist, tech specialists, and like i said they are going to be on the road. some for up to a week on their own. >> this is what is called a type three deployment which is second largest kind but as

>> now residents say that they are concerned, at this point it is flooding which may cause even more power outages. back here at home now and happening today runners will hit the streets for philadelphia 10k, race starts at eighth and south and just about an hour now. 6.2-mile course, then passes through italian market, passyunk and washington square and finishes at fifth and south what a nice route. about 4500 people are expected to take part. speaking of fun runs here in philadelphia, check this one out, more than 2,000 people showed up at philadelphia mills yesterday for philly color vibe 5k, runners started out with white t-shirts and then ran through color stations those shirts did in the stay white for very long as volunteers sprayed them with paint. runners celebrated at the finish line with a dance party while putting paint in the air looks like fun. proceed help at risk children. 400 people will be crossing the finish line at susan g komen three day in

up north of the city. here is storm scan 3a wide range scene. we have a fair amount across the eastern half of the country, so of course lets start down in the gulf, we have harvey which continues to just inundate the texas, southeastern texas kes line with extreme rainfall, again, those rates around houston around 6 inches of rain an hour at times in harris county where houston is. we are watching that very closely. we are also watching another area of low pressure that was at 92l, a potential tropical system. it is an area of low pressure center over jacksonville, florida. that will ride up the coastline. as it does it will get push out to sea but couple outer bands could give us showers on tuesday near the shower and down in delaware. we will keep an eye on. that we are also watching another area have low pressure through great lakes a cold front draped down to the south to the west of chicago and southern iowa and back into northern missouri spawning
