completely covering beaches with water. officials say they are growing concerned about beach erosion at this point, also, flood waters are creeping up on streets in many of those shore towns. >> let's begin with meteorologist matt peterson in for kate. we are hoping for bet are weather today, matt. >> of course, we are always hoping to improve after days we have had in the last couple where we had jose, off the new jersey coastline. we had those pictures you just saw of the waves crashing over the sea walls and then we are dealing with minor beach erosion as well across the new jersey coastline. unfortunately it doesn't look like it will get better, quicker, we have storm scan three showing you jose still spiraling out there in the atlantic ocean. it doesn't look like we will see any rain or anything like that along the jersey shore or in delaware today but again, surf is still going to be up. is there chance of rip currents and with that high surf and wind it still could give us a problem with beach erosion, down near the shore. of course all eyes are on

maria which is likely to make land fall in puerto rico here this morning as an extremely dangerous category five hurricane and after it makes land fall through u.s. virgin island, bohamas, turks and caicos and later on our computer models it does bring it up closer to the eastern seaboard. we will keep a use on it in the next couple days. zero seven's for us this morning and we will be topping it out this afternoon right around 84 degrees. another day of very unfall- like conditions, but all eyes are still down on the shore. >> they sure are, all right, matt, thanks very much. good morning everybody. happy hump day we are on wednesday, and we are looking out there still dark, still very early at 4:30 just pennsylvania 4:32. we have an accident here new jersey turnpike southbound pennsylvania hightstown outer roadway was close so alternate is inner roadway or route 130n this camera shot what we are looking at backups here. it looks pretty good, so i'm

pretty certain this is now clear and out of our way and we are looking good there would i recommend alternate. maybe information next 10 minutes but that is moving out of the way right now. vine closed for that construction project between the schuylkill and broad, vine completely closed westbound and eastbound. we will let you know when that clears. resurfacing project which is our bff, our bestty on the schuylkill westbound between blue route and gulph mills, eastbound between gulph mills and belmont avenue. we will let you know when crew s move out of the way. natasha, back over to you. chaos continues in central mexico after yesterday's 7.1 magnitude earthquake, authorities have raised the death toll to 248 people, so far, u.s. geological survey tells us that the earthquake's epi certainty is about 76 miles southe of mexico city at lee 44 buildings collapsed in the capitol of mexico city, others suede violently. right now rescuers and volunteers are frantically digging through ruble searching for survivors.

twenty-five bodies have been recovered from the mexico city school that partially collapsed. thirty children and eight adults are still reported missing there. now this was mexico's deadliest earthquake since 1985 which killed thousands of people. more than 20,000 mexicans called philadelphia home and as you can imagine, at this point they are worried about family members still living in that area of mexico. mexican consul has been field ing phones calls helping to calm people having trouble getting in touch with their loved won. >> as long as we have information, we will provide the information to our community, to be patient, while they are dialing our contact in the media. >> reporter: interesting to note that the quake struck on the 32nd anniversary of another devastating quake in mexico city that killed more than 10,000 people. many work places were holding drills, when the real earthquake struck. well, just into our news room search is on for suspect in the double stabbing in philadelphia this happened

inside a home on the 1100 block of fillmore street in frankford. police described victims as siblings who were stabbed while defending their mother from her ex-boyfriend. both are in stable condition. well, the man accused in the murder of the temple university student last month faces a preliminary hearing. twenty-nine year-old joshua hupperterz faces murder and other charges in the death of, 22-year old jena burleigh. hupperterz killed burleigh after meeting her at a bar and used ride sharing service, lyft, to transport her body to his grandparent's property in northeastern pennsylvania. also this morning police charged a man in connection with the multiple child luring s outside of philadelphia public schools, police year-old mar juan deb, tried luring kid in his car in not ease fail. investigators tied him to six attempted luring cases. he cash to entice children. detectives used a, similar un

solved case in february to track him down. so far, deb faces four counts related to, child luring.tric cancelled classes for third day in a row as its teachers continue to strike. school board meeting last night, the board asked teachers union to meet with them to try to reach an agreement. teachers walk off the job monday morning after weekend negotiations between union and school board failed, two side aren't seeing eye to eye on medical premiums. we have new information in the death of the lafayette college student, authorities say that on september 7th, 2 days before mccray williams died the freshman fell in his dorm room after attending a party where he was drinking l cross teammates became concerned about williams the following day when he insisted on sleeping and became combative. they called 911 and williams was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead the next day from a head injury. at this time, i have no evidence of any criminal

conduct on the part of anyone, at this time and i leave that open because obviously if new information would come we would revice that it issue. >> district attorney went on to say did he not see williams death as quote, penn state case, referring to the hazing death of timothy piazza. a new detail this morning about an accident, involving a septa norristown high speed line train in upper darby. accident happened back on august 22nd, at 69th street terminal. in a preliminary report operator of the train told investigators he tried to stop but was unable to do so. train car then slammed into an empty train, the operator and 42 passengers were rushed to the hospital. just before the crash operator slid pennsylvania the platform at gulph mills station and reported, slippery rails. the ntsb is still trying to figure out what exactly caused the crash. it doesn't feel like, you know, because the weather, today, philadelphia celebrate three years of dilworth park.

islands. eye of the storm is expect to make land fall on puerto rico later this morning. puerto rico's governor says storm could be worse in generations. people living in homes have been warned to go to shelters. hurricane has already devastated the caribbean island of dominica, islands leader sent out a plea for help saying the storm caused quote mind boggling devastation. more news on hurricane irma's aftermath, nearly a week after a florida nursing home was evacuated another person has died. nine three-year old man died, yesterday in hollywood, florida becoming ninth victim, ninth patient, to reportedly die from heat-related injuries you may recall after irma knock out centers power and left them without air conditioning. more than 140 people had to be removed from the facility, police are investigating those deaths. also very close call for preschool children in tennessee when passing storm caused this school's roof to collapse. take a look at damage here.

thankfully all 96 kid and employees got out before the roof caved in. fire fighters say the staff heard building cracking and rush everyone out, their quick thinking saved lives. >> they are true heroes today, when you think bit, there could have been, how many kid in that room when ceiling came in and they have the fore thought to move the kid out of harms way. >> storm knocked down power lines and flooded roadways, but fortunately no reports of any injuries. local first responders who home and victims of the hurricane harvey and irma are back home, this morning. members of the task force one received a hero's bell come yesterday in northeast philadelphia captain jim kelly says that search and rescue details are tough work because they say the teams pulled together to help each other out. >> there is a lot of, a lot of destruction there but, we kind of just helped out, looking basically forecaster that were submerged and stuff like that just to make sure no one was

in them and then we went into florida we just, helped other task force search homes. >> task force team had been away since august 27th, welcome home, good job there. well, time is 4:43. matt has another check of your forecast. >> so how soon before jose clears out of the region. >> it will clear region as early as today, that is good news for us across mid-atlantic. you still see tropical storm help say on our satellite picture here, you still see lots of high cloud cover off of the new jersey coastline. we will in the see any precipitation. we could see a few areas of gusty winds at times along the shore but in general, jose's effects for us here in philadelphia especially and down toward jersey shore and shore end of the delaware shore points the effects are done for us. we have a coastal flood warning, is there a chance we could get areas along the coastline and right here in the delaware bay where we could get flooding with high tides because we are getting

on shore flow with a bit of the northwest ter northeasterly win. keeping an eye on this coastal flood warning until today at 2:00 in the afternoon when it will expire and i cannot imagine they will project it to go any further in the future then. that right new we are still looking at a very catastrophic , very powerful hurricane, that is just about to make land fall in puerto rico. this is marie, category five, 160-mile sustain wind at this point. eye wall has already started to make it's affects known along the coastline of puerto rico and will probably make land fall as early as this morning. early part of our forecast track, 8:00 this morning as a category five storm making land fall only about 60 miles away from san juan. by the time we get to tomorrow morning, it is moving up into turks and caicos and bohamas as we get in the even of the week and by end of the weekend it is just off of the coastline of the carolinas, as still a category two storm. there are plenty of watches and warnings all across puerto

out there and new we are seeing some visual backups. use an alternate, as i said inner roadway or route 130 is your best bet. overnight closures for vine, west and eastbound you are still closed between schuylkill and broad, this is coming back, a little bit of thorn in our side but usually good news crews move out of our way around 5:00 in the morning. resurfacing project, schuylkill westbound between blue route and gulph mills eastbound between gulph mills and belmont avenue head up on this. that will start to slow us down a little bit if it doesn't get cleared out but that does as well. construction here in bucks county 95 south between 332 and route one, right lane compromised see cones, left lanes, cones in the roadway still, we will let you know when crews move out of our way this morning and hopefully in the early part in the 5:00 o'clock hour. construction here, boulevard north bound between whittaker avenue and pratt street, outer lanes are closed, jan, back over to you. well, good samaritan risks his life to stop a robber and now that good samaritan could face legal troubles.

surveillance video shows craig jerry attacking the knife wielding robber at a star bucks ines from necessity last july, jerry hit with a chair and robber stabbed her in the neck but jerry was able to rest will the knife away and stab him. now, the suspect's mother says her son plans to sue jerry for excessive force. >> the guy in my opinion, went from a good samaritan to a vigilante, you know, stabbing somebody that many times, it doesn't take that many stab wounds to get somebody to succumb to you. >> maybe she realizes she didn't raise a goodson. suspect's mother says her son was stabbed 17 times, he is in jail. jerry do criminal charges for this brave act. >> wow. >> that hen't have any kind of f awareness of their children. >> wow. philadelphia is hoping to get amazon to b he but now is there new local competition.
