the desk of nfl team owners jeffrey lurie waited into the debate saying that in this great time of conflict, and division, football needs to be a unify err. outside the linc, i'm joe holden, cbs-3, "eyewitness news." >> also caught up with some players after the game, mainly from what we heard they have each other's backs. >> coach pederson said we'll lock arms today, nobody, you know, second guess dollars him at all. we just did what he said. everybody came in as one, and nobody looked back after that. so then the game played itself out. >> guys just trying to get active in their communities. it is a shame that you're supposed to get fired for doing that. >> next sunday the birds take on the chargers in l.a. >> in other news this morning, the pilot of small plane was injured after crashing into a montgomery county home. this happened yesterday afternoon, here on meade road in whitpain township. eyewitnesses say the plane hit several toast before striking the home. one person was inside the house at the time. but was not hurt.

pieces of the aircraft were strewn across several lawns. neighbors describe a chaotic scene. >> i was out back. and i heard a plane, clearly sounded like it was in distress, and i look up, was flying way too close to our house. and then next thing i know i hear the crash, ran out front, and saw a bunch of debris. >> the pilot was taken to area hospital. no update on his condition. one neighbor recounted the moment he found the pilot unresponsive in a bush. >> next to the guy. kinds of holding him. and there was no pulse. he reaches to find a pulse recalling he realizes there was a seatbelt around the guy's neck. that was the problem right there. so we were able to cut that off. and by then police and fire showed up. >> authority say the crash happened about a mile from the ends of the intended runway at wings field airport. the cause of that crash is under investigation. a 17 year old boy fighting for his life this morning after he was shot during a home invasion in chester county. this happened on the 700 block

of boulevard in north coventry township after 11:00 last night. three suspect broke into the pottstown apartment and shot the boy in the chest. he is in extremely critical condition. so far no arrests cents. >> and in west philadelphia, police are on the hunt for two men they say broke into a home and opened fire on woman and her dog. this happened last night on the 5100 block of fifth street two men wearing scarfs over their faces, kick open the back door, the suspect got away with a cell phone. >> welshing coming up: president's son-in-law kushner making headlines again. find out what he used his personal e-mail to do coming up. >> we'll tell you how much time anthony wean for spend behind bars after he pleaded guilty to sex charges. >> and philadelphia's annual puerto rican day parade shows its support to the islands in the aftermath of hurricane maria. we will be back.

>> welcome back, peco crews are back in pennsylvania after two weeks of restoring power in florida following hurricane irma. "eyewitness news" was there, sunday afternoon, as two trucks rolled into the service building in eddie stone. the crews worked restoring temperatures, cutting through jungle like ventres to make some of the repairs in florida even though the conditions were difficult, crews say the work was rewarding. >> when you see people in these temperatures with no air , some no water, because their pumps didn't work, no bathroom fast facility, very difficult, and it is gratifying for the crews. >> now, in addition to making repairs, worker also helped hand out food and water. >> days after hurricane maria devestated puerto rico, many still trying to make contact with relatives, friends there. alicia was at the annual puerto rican day parade yesterday, and talked to some locals still wait to hear from

loved ones. >> ♪ >> ♪ >> the annual puerto rican day parade in philadelphia ... like every year, there was latin music, echoing down the ben franklin parkway, thousands dancing, and many proudly waiving the island flag. >> i haven't been to the parade in a couple of years, but i just had to come today. >> what's different this year? the flags in the air have a deeper meaning. puerto rican holding them hi, trying to lift each other's spirit and unite with the more than 3 million loved ones, back on the islands. >> all i know is for the ones in puerto rico, real, real nice, in our hearts. >> next thing we can do now here in the states is support, support which ever way we can. >> many donated money to help after the devestation hurricane maria caused. right now, the american territory still has no power on the entire island, and almost no communication with the outside world. >> we need help. we're americans. >> and of the thousands at this parade, so many are

everyone was having such a good time, but it was so hot out. >> absolutely. as long as you knew it was coming could you make peace with it, you could enjoy it personally, but we will have more of the same here today, guys. you know, when you look outside, this is view outside pleasant valley middle and high school. typically in the distance at this hour at least before the sun has come up you would be able to make out pretty clearview for the most part of at least the front of the buildings here at the school campus. you can't really do that this morning. there has been a fog that it is l n no sunlight making it feel that much steamier, so it feels like what the thermometer reads. but there is some humidity to work with in the area. you may run into some patches of fog through some of the mountain us parade, valley regions, near the river banks, as well. keep it in mind, not overriding major theme here today. storm scan locally across the northeast, very calm, very quiet. we talked about marie earlier in the show. get bigger or better sense where that is headed right now still category one hurricane, still churning away. now, making a little bit after

closer bee line toward the us coastline, rid? do have north carolina jutting out here. so that is likely where we will see the closest path of the storm. at the moment, it is still expected to make pretty sharp right-hand turn, not have any direct impact on our area, but the surf will still be turned up, certainly still going to see the potential here for some pretty dangerous rip currents on our shore line. but take a look where the storm is headed, category one storm, maintaining the strength, look at that hook. it just get -- there is front coming along, that's going to help sweep maria away, thankfully not becoming any other concern for the north american coastline. but still again, some chopper surf here in our area the next few days, meisha. >> katie, thank you so much for that. good morning, everyone, hammy monday. brand new work week together. we'll have lots of happy people. what's not going to make it too happy is sitting in this kind of bumper to bumper traffic at around 4:46 to be exact in the morning. what we've got going on here, overnight resurfaced, getting
