breaking news this morning three suspects on a violent crime spree in the same philadelphia neighborhood. remembering hugh hefner the man who revolutionized the country's attitude toward sex has died at 91. paul ryan head to delaware county to push for the tax reform plan, we will break down how that plan could effect millions of americans. today is thursday, september 28th, good morning, i'm jim donovan. i'm rahel solomon plus a stretch of road in our area that ranks among the worst for traffic nationally but first a check of the forecast with katie and road with meisha. >> good morning, ladies. >> yes, other places i was thinking, on the list as well. we are looking outside right now, it is, a fatal tractor trailer accident that actually happened last night that we are still talking about

because of closures this morning. we will get to that in a moment. >> weather should not trip you up too much today. it will be a change of pace. we have been talking about a big transition and it is taking place as we speak. you still have maria churning away moving away making turnout to sea and we are going to stay generally dry here throughout the day just with some sunshine but breeze will pick up. we had a frontal boundary cross and that will bring about that change that we have been talking about. generally clear sky is currently out there but it is still, very mild, still currently, technically above what is average, 75 degrees current value at philadelphia international. we are down at this point in the mid up toker 60's in the suburbs but even wilmington checks in at 69 degrees. transition, about to be, underway here, and humidity will begin to drop off but we are still off to a mild start. we will be beginning the rebound but because it is sort of the balancing act that the cool air catching up as sun comes up we will rebound only so far. upper 70's is the spectation.

there, jim, back over to you. thanks, meisha. we will begin with breaking news, right now hunt for three suspects who went on a violent overnight crime spree, the latest happened here at 54th and warrington in philadelphia 's kingsessing neighborhood. that is where police say suspects tried to rob a man, at gunpoint. police say they shot the victim in the back as he tried to runaway. then, they robbed him as he laid on the ground. he is now in critical condition, minutes earlier police say that the trio robbed, pistol whipped another man at 58th and kingsessing avenues. another shooting investigation leaves a man fighting for his life in philadelphia's overbrook section. this happened just after 11:30 last night on the 1100 block of 63rd street, police say they rushed the 31 year-old victim to the hospital after finding him on the street unconscious. police have no suspects or motive. septa's regional rail service is back to normal this morning after a pur outage caused pan ache monk passengers. a few dozen passengers on the paoli thorndale line, jumped

off the trains, when four of the cars who power yesterday, and passengers safely off the track, they were forced to shut down rail service at height of the evening rush. people do not react well and they have never been in that situation before. >> septa police believes the passengers may have thought there was a fire and with no communication from the crew, passengers panicked. a 36 year-old, woman is dead and two children hurt after a car collide with the septa trolley in northern liberties. the extent happened yesterday, just after 4:00 p.m. on the west girard avenue month. man who was driving was pronounced dead at the scene. the children were taken to local hospitals, police say their injuries are not believed to be serious, the cause of the crash is under investigation. people are still struggling in puerto rico, the island has a lot of emergency supplies ready to go but bottleneck is keeping those supplies in containers. one port has more than 1,000 containers of supplies ready for distribution, but

emergency officials can't get those supplies to the people, who need them the most, because of lack of fuel and a lack of truck drivers. >> the problem has been, with the logistics, for those trucking companies, they have their equipment available and ready, and then they are facing the challenge, of the fact that there is no fuel. >> there is something else making things difficult is the jones act, it is a law that makes it twice as expense turf move goods from the u.s. mainland to puerto rico. it was intended to pre mote shipping by u.s. owned ships, president trump says he is still thinking about whether to wave it in this case. meantime families here in the u.s. are reuniting with their loved won, "eyewitness news" at philadelphia international airport last night, a flight out of san juan arrived here in the sit around 5:30 p.m. we were there to capture some of the emotional reunions, some people described the difficult conditions on the island. >> it is like a living nightmare in puerto rico is all i can say bit.

jurors can learn about previous bombing attempts the same day, including one at a charity run in sea side park, new jersey. rahami has pleaded not guilty, opening statements, they are expected on monday. corruption trial of the new jersey senator bob menendez continues today, yesterday, former iowa senator tom harkins testified that he met with menendez co-defendant , eye doctor salmon melgen to discuss a medicare dispute. menendez referred the doctor to harkins who chaired a senate health committee. menendez is accused of accepting bribes for his political assistance. well, hugh hefner, found or have playboy magazine, has died at the age of 91. >> playboy announce had hefner 's death on twitter. magazine released a statement saying he died of natural causes, surrounded by his family at playboy mansion. hefner founded the magazine in 1953, known for wearing silk pajamas he lived there complete with playboy bunnies and created a multi million-dollar adult

back on "eyewitness news" police are investigating a deadly shooting in new castle count/49300 block of miller road in wilmington just after midnight. one person is dead, police are on the scene right now looking for clues, and authorities are trying to figure out what led to this fatal gunfire, so far, no arrests. and, staying in wilmington police there have a suspect in

custody in the stabbing and attempted carjacking at a shop right on south walnut street. three two-year old woman was stabbed in the arm and leg when a armed man tried to force his way into her car, they say suspect confronted a 67 year-old man who came to her aid. police say suspect took off and then was arrested a short time later and a short distance away month. man victim is in stable condition. mayor of pittsburgh says he is skipping stanley cup chapel trip to the white house because of tweets by president trump. democrat bill, accompanied the champs last year when barack obama was president, he says he is not going because the president trump's tweets criticizing nfl players for protests during the national anthem. he has criticized the president, before, over trump 's exit from the paris climate accord. a dozen train cars loaded with coal fly off the track ness a suburb outside pittsburgh. authorities say that at least one of the cars completely toppled over while a few of the others hit power lines, and officials say that the train was traveling, from west

virginia, when it crashed yesterday afternoon, and authorities say, that at least nine of the trains 126 cars, came off the track, witnesses, say that they crashed, sounded like a gunshot. >> when those cars were crashing into each other, bang , bang, bang. the wheels, they went flying off the noise that they make really loud. >> and crews are working to remove the cars and clean up the spilled coal, investigators are now trying to figure out what caused the crash, thankfully, no one lost power and no one was hurt. well, time right now 4:43. katie is here with another check of your forecast. >> it seems like today is the day the forecast is changing, turning the page. >> yes, from one season to the next and we ended up in the upper 80's yesterday with ease and we are starting to see that transition taking place, it is still very warm outside, thing is you will not see much rebound from here, mid 70's, upper 70's where we will level off so it is that balancing act once the sun comes up, trying to warm things up but

cooler air is trying to cool things down. you see that, again, balancing act take place. frontal boundary responsible for that didn't bring too much in the way of wet weather. it is still clearing out, however. we will see that pressure gradient set up where wind picks up from the north and west and we will see gusts as high as 25 to 30 miles an hour tropics are still active. we have a well defined eye and hurricane lee, which is again, bermuda in the middle of the map. it is not coming close to that it will stay out to sea. here's maria making its right-hand turn. even still rip current does remain high because the storm is somewhat close by. but lets talk about dew points and humidity which got really oppressive yesterday. that is getting scaled back. even still it is a little muggy outside but we are in the middle of transition. take a look even in the next couple of hours. here's four or 5:00 a.m., come say 8:00 a.m. your dew points will have dropped off substantially. heading out now and go back out later this morning we will start to notice that change.

eastbound pennsylvania route 282, and crews are still out there it looks like they are get being ready to toe that vehicle alloway. it was a vehicle and tractor trailer. all lanes are still blocked, you will to have use an alternate 322 or business route 30, it will be your best bet around this but it does look like they are starting to get this moved out of the way for you, so we can resume or normal traffic patterns this morning throughout the area route 30 bypass eastbound pennsylvania route 282 all lanes still block. you will to use alternates. overnight construction schuylkill westbound at 30th street all lanes closed one lane opened and now crews are moving out of the way. we are looking better here. overnight resurfacing on the schuylkill east and west between 202 and blue route you can still see cones in the roadway. head up on this one lane blocked in each direction up but it looks like this might be starting to clear up, as well, usually crews are moved out at around i would say 5:00 . construction, bucks county 95 south at route one, right lane is still blocked here, of

course we will let you know when crews moved out as well. no other accidents to report this morning and overall things are looking pretty good , if you take out the fact of construction but overall we are used to that on a thursday morning. >> thanks very much, meisha. speaking of traffic if you take blue route, hmm, it is not surprising. >> i476 is on the list of the 25 war traffic spots in the country according to analytics company enricks. from east valley road to pearl harbor memorial bridge. philadelphia areas ranked 12th in the survey. it has more than 6,000 hot spots, and it is estimate that had congestion will cost drivers about $15 billion by 2026, that is wasted time and fuel. new york has the most traffic hot spots which, of course, is not a surprise either. >> meisha, i would avoid that on your dream drive next time. >> you need to tell the producers that a lot of times i'm sitting in that bumper to bumper and turf say new york, l.a., i necessity l.a. can be

congested as well but i'm surprised that the schuylkill and i-95, were not ranked. the blue route is busy no doubt bit, anybody traveling the blue route in between these stretches, they will be bumper to bumper but the schuylkill expressway it doesn't matter what time of day you head out there, it is almost none in stop bumper to bumper conditions. i would be interested to look through and see what else is on there. >> speaking of traffic, electric cars, trucks and electric planes. >> they may be a reality sooner then you think, jim. details in this morning's money watch

with north korea 36 percent worry about the situation in d.c. and 24 percent are concerned about north korea 10 r economic effects of terrorism and rising interest rates and eight percent concerned about a decline in the stock market. here on wall street yesterday stocks climbed that business will benefit from tax cuts proposed by president trump. dow jones jumped 56 points, nasdaq gained 73, jim and rahel. >> we have been hearing more and more about electric cars but i understand we may be seeing electric planes? >> reporter: yes, plug in the plane, people. future of flying may be on electric airlines, european carrier easy jetties teaming up with wright electric to build all electric air liner in the next decade. aircraft will handle short trips under 355 miles. company's have already tested two seater and satisfaction electric planes will save on fuel costs and cut emissions and noise, jim and rahel. >> you don't sound convinced just yet.

welcome back, everyone. we will take a nice quiet view here of from high atop hotel bethlehem overlooking parts of the lehigh valley. off in the distance you can see lights expecteling parts of the lehigh campus in the distance over south mountain. really tranquil beginning to the morning here. the wind will start picking up and warmth that we are still experiencing will also, get by the wayside but we're sort of leveling off with those temperatures today. it will be balancing act as sun's energy verse the cooler, trying to catch up to us. we will stay level on the thermometer, generally throughout the day but storm scan is still quiet. you can see maria making its departure but still category one hurricane at least as of the last update. i want to you look over western cuba a little round of showers, thunderstorms showing hint of organization in the next few days and that could potentially bring heavy rain to florida. we will keep an eye on it. the next name on the list is nate. closer to normal conditions, throughout the day, high hit 77. we have hit that since
