9:45 last night. a man learned he was gunned down breath straight center of town on the same block as famous colonial theater. the victim was rushed to the hospital and no word on his condition. so far police have not made any arrests. >> puerto ricans desperate for supplies may get relief. >> u.s. military sending a three star general to the island and more troops to help out and president trump waived the ships yesterday. thousands of containers full of emergency supplies are stuck at the port of san one. they don't have drivers to move them. the island is running out of food, drinking water and gasoline. our news reporter alicia nieves is there now and she was on a flight where people were determined to find loved ones. >> our trek to puerto rico

has been an experience over the last 24 hours. people from the light all from the philadelphia area applauded the moment the plane landed in the air they told us stories. >> i've been worried this vineland new jersey man told us. he has not heard from his family since hurricane maria hit 9 days ago and he's on this flight to get to ponce and find them. >> i want to see my mom and make sure she's all right. >> everybody on the plane had a similar story. >> i know for a fact my son survived the initial impact. but how is he doing as of today i don't know because of no communication at all. >> so many rushed off the flight anxious to start trying to get on the ground and reach loved ones and in the airport first they were met with this a hot, humid, packed terminal packed with people trying to flee. this woman from delaware says she's been trying to get back home for eight days.

when you look at storm scan on dry land things are dry. quiet, clear, courtesy high pressure taking control. here's maria out there and pulling very far away at this point. so our rip current risk is high and surf starting to drop off a little bit more like 3 to 5 feet as opposed to 6 to 8 yesterday. i would be cautious if you wanted to go in the water. it's cooling off down at the shore certainly here in the city and much wider zoom you can see the beginnings at least reinforcing cooler air in the next day and next day an a half here. also want to draw your attention to this batchp storms in south florida. four in ten shot this develop into something bigger. we'll keep an eye on that. in the meantime back at home all calm and collected. it's only 4 right now at pleasant valley middle and high school. quite school and thankfully that wind eased up. it will not add to the chill necessarily. you'll definitely notice it regardless. coming up, temple is back at
