paddock broke windows on the 32nd floor of the mandalay bay hotel sunday night, then opened fire on a crowded music festival before killing himself. survivors returning home like these concert goers arriving in chicago, say the night will stay with them forever. >> i left behind a woman who was shot in his neck, and the blood was just coming out all over the place. she collapsed on the ground. another woman next to her, her leg was shot. >> investigators say paddock acted alone, they raided his nevada home. >> we requires 23 firearms at mandalay bay and 19 firearms at his home in mesquite. >> isis claimed responsible for the attack, but law enforcement says it hasn't found any connection to back that up. his brother said paddock had no religious affiliation nor any political agenda. >> he has no history of violence in anyway shape or form. he has been dif offers dollars twice, he's friends, good friends, with both of his axiation. >> police say they also found

minor delays, as you head from the boulevard through the schuylkill expressway. also, schuylkill westbound, this is a reported accident, and car fire, it is just out of the view of our camera ankle em, so right past the tree line here, schuylkill westbound, at gulph mills. major delays this this area, quiet morning until the 6:00 hour now heated up. looking at the wide map, 17 miles per hour going southbound on 95, then we have this mess out here on the schuylkill expressway. and then 95, southbound, at chester, ramp to 320 also closed. joe, to you? >> pat, thank you. in this morning's health watch , new study shows that girls take longer to recover from concussions than boys. >> researchers found girls suffered 28 days on average, boys suffered for 11. expert believe the extended recovery time is due to underlying conditions, like migraines, depression, anxiety all more common in girls. >> you have your stomach, then your stress, and your stress

symptoms. and they can overlap. very often the concussion symptoms have resolved, but you're still dealing with suppressed headaches. >> doctors say concussions with can make the underlying conditions like depression and anxiety worse. >> you heard this before. breakfast is the most important meal of the day. now there is more evidence to prove that. spanish i shall researchers say people who skip breakfast could be the greater risk for heart disease and hardening of the arteries. the study also found people who missed breakfast had larger waist, higher body mass index and elevated blood pressure. >> atm feast have hit record high for the 11th year in a row. >> these fees have now gone up 55% over the last ten years. here is cbs news correspondent meg l very with more details. >> hernandez tries to use his bank atm to avoid fees, sometimes in a pinch he has to use one not in his bank's network.

hit 90 degrees. and it really is a testament to how extreme the temperatures can be. because the records low was 33 so quite the window, quite the range, that can take place during the fall months, obviously. now, here today, though, looking average. so, by noontime you're flirting with seven open already. mid 70s in towards 3:00 p.m. and lot of sunshine to go across the bore here, all day long, and as we move forward, we're really starting to heat up. again with the average high only at 71 degrees, now talking upward of ten, 12 degrees above what's average. by the time we hit saturday, yes, calling for 82 degrees day here. but along with that warming trends comes another pattern change, wet weather eventually returns to the forecast, and i will let you know when a little later on, pat? >> like pretty quiet seven day the roadways, though, in the philadelphia area, not so much there is symptom mayhem out there the right now, and this is 95 northbound, at girard. bunch of disable vehicles off to the shoulder, they all hit

a tire that was in the middle of the roadway, so five, six cars have been pushed off the right lane block here again 95 north at girard, 95 southbound at woodhaven just past woodhaven, a disable vehicle has been pushed offer to the side. the tow truck is kind of pushing out into that right lane. so just tap the brakes. slow down coming through there in the next 15 minute or so. this is the biggest mess of the morning. this is the schuylkill westbound, near gulph mills, we have an accident and then a second separate incident which is a car fire. in the same vicinity causing major slow downs, you can see, 21 minutes from city avenue going all the way out to the blue route. add on 30 minute or so, maybe even little more if you are headed westbound on the schuylkill schuylkill. there is an accident, east norriton, trooper road at germantown pike. there are delays reported in this area. and then new castle, 95 southbound, the ramp to 295 closed until 7:00 a.m. joe? >> pat, thank you. and the questions persist. what motivated a wealthy

retiree to carry out the deadliest mass shooting in us history? that remains a mystery this morning. >> police say 64 year old steven paddock opened fire on tens of thousands of concert goers, from the 32nd floor of the mandalay bay hotel late sunday night. fifty-nine killed, 500 plus injured. investigators say they've recovered 23 firearms from his hotel room. nineteen from his home in mesquite, never add a apparently no prior arrest, no criminal record, and he acted alone. >> hearing one local's man's account of the horrible shooting, he was staying in the mandalay bay casino when the shots rang out. >> "eyewitness news" reporter trang do live at philadelphia international airport with his story, trang, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, rahel, joe. yes, he had no idea those rapid fire gunshots he was hearing was coming from just a few rose above him. inside, the mandalay bay hotel , meanwhile his wife in pennsylvania was overcome with

fear for her husband's safety. cell phone video captured a horrifying scene at the route 91 harvest festival sunday night, people screaming, crying, holds recalled together, some tending to the wounded as gunman opened fire on the helpless crowd. thirty-two stories above from a hotel room, inside mandalay bay. ben swine fry allentown was inside the hotel just two floors below the gunman's room now, hearing the spray every gunfire so close, he locked himself in the bathroom, texting back and forth with his wife here in pennsylvania. >> i didn't want to turn the tv on. i didn't want to talk on the phone, because, to me, it sounded like he was right next-door to me. coy hear the shot come through the hotel. and then you could hear it sort of ricochet off all of the glad in the casino and come back in. so i would hear a shot twice. so i new he was somewhere in the hotel. to me it sounded like he was

literally next-door to me. so in a lull of the shots, i got up, moved into the bathtub , that's when i called her and i was talking to her in the bathtub for a little while. >> i felt helpless. like i didn't know what i could do. like there was nothing really i could do at that point. i made sure i left him know that i was there, and if he needed to talk he could let me know, and it was just really difficult. >> now, sweeney was in las vegas for work conference that was supposed to start on monday. instead he got on a flight back home and his wife drove an hour and a half to reunite with him. so joe, rahel, obviously a very, very relieved couple, and quite the reunion last night. >> these stories justin to flow from las vegas, and people coming home, trang, thank you so much for that live report. >> and you can see more of the interview from allentown, coming up in about 20 minutes on cbs this morning. >> president trump is

traveling to puerto rico today mo meet with victims of had your can moore a. there is evidence that things are happening faster in puerto rico than we've seen before in terms every aid get to go where it needs to go. and san juan, there are 700,000 pounds of food and fresh water, now the challenge is get that life saving material to remote areas. >> and without running water or electricity, some puerto rico residents have taken to washing their clothes in rivers, some have actually made the clothes washing trip into family outings. it will be a while before much of the water, power and electricity is back. >> it will probably be some percentage of people, within weeks or hopefully a couple every months, to get the majority of the puerto ricans. my concern is, though, those very remote areas. >> the us army of corps of engineers say the power in mountain us areas could be out for tents monday more. we heard earlier, it could be march. >> staggering, without power, and everything that comes with

that. >> minds blowing. >> college students and families take note. the critical financial aid form, the free application for federal student aid or fafsa is now available. business analyst jill schlessinger joins us live from new york to discuss more. good morning, jill. >> reporter: good morning. >> so, why is fafsa so important? >> you know there is forms is used to determine how much money students and their families get for college. that includes grants, scholarships, and loans. now, look, i know the deadline for fedotenko rallied is not until next june. june 30th of 2018. but, here is the thing. your state and your school that you're applying to may have earlier deadlines. for some they say it is as soon as possible after october . and that means they have a limited pool every funds that could run out. if you want to maximize your potential aid, smith that fafs a as soon as possible. >> what would potential

roadblock be for some families trying get aid? >> unfortunately, it is us. research shows that as much as $2.7 billion in free federal grant money goes unclaimed every year. and that is because of incomplete or even worse just un submitted fafsa forms. look i know many people don't do this because they say they earn too much. but here is the important piece. the department of education says aid is not based on just income. it also depends on the size of your family, whether there are siblings in college or parent close to retirement, as well as the price of tuition. some who did not receive aid last year, they erroneous libelant it is pointless to fill out the form again. looks, your circumstances could change, your award could be different. even if you didn't get the pell grant last year, you could still be eligible for other types every aid, like work study and low interest loans. for more on the fafsa frenzy go to jill on money.
