the attacks. mola lenghi live in las vegas with the latest. >> reporter: well, authorities say steven paddock was a known gambler who made his monday any real estate. still trying to piece together is why he stood on the 32nd floor of the mandalay bay hotel and used as all rifle to open fire on 22,000 people below. the concert grounds, that turned into a killing fields, remain closed off, as people in las vegas struggle to come to grips with the unspeakable tragedy, that shattered this community. police say 64 year old steven paddock, had an arsenal of 23 weapons and thousands every rounds of a.m. aoun anythings his suite at mandalay bay. nineteen additional guns found at his house. what developers don't know what set off this retired accountant who had no history of gun violence. >> we're hunting down and tracing down every single clue that we can get in his backgrounds. >> from the 32nd floor, paddock took aim at thousands of people at a music festival,

and people fled in panic, fencing around the venue trapped. >> what you see, it is never going to happen to you. it was happening. >> heather comforted 23 year old jordan, when he was hit, she didn't know him. using a cell phone, she called his girlfriends, who was shelters in place nearby. >> be honest with me, waist going on, you know. and i said he didn't make it. she said to me, you know, he is the love of my life. i go are you sure. ya. >> authorities say paddock modified two guns to make them fully automatic. his rampage sparked new conversations about gun laws, in the nation. president trump was asked about it as he left the white house this morning. >> we will be talking about gun laws this time. >> and with hundreds hospitalized, people in las vegas are answering the urgent call for blood. long lines of donors are stretching at locations across the city.

island of puerto rico. the president arrived there, just minutes ago accompanied by the first lady. he is expected to highlight the work done by the federal government to help the islands recover from hurricane maria. but there has been harsh criticism of the response saying it is not fast enough. set lemon with more from the white house. >> president trump praised the federal government's response to hurricane maria as he left the white house for puerto rico. >> the first responders, the military, fema, they have done an incredible job in puerto rico. >> there are now 12,000 federal aid workers on the grounds in puerto rico, and 70 % of the gas stations on the islands are back up and running. but 95% of the islands is still without power and the situation is desperate for many of the. >> our priorities are still sustain and maintain life, making sure water and food get to the different areas in port reijo. >> mayor of san juan lashed out last friday, saying the federal response was

the 80 degrees days. so kind of right on target for that. it has been somewhat of a summer specially the ends of september, got a bit of respit over the past weekends, definitely a lot cooler but october 7th is typically when you would see on average the last day of 08 degrees or above. now we are likely to exceed that, and go past into specially october 8th with some pretty warm weather. however, initially already off to mild start. high pressure on our side couple of days, so it is nice and clear out there, with time , front is going to cross through, bring in wet weather. but we've had stretch of pretty dry conditions. so, i got the question yesterday on twitter and i figure i would answer it four. how are we doing drought wise? seems like so dry. actually doing okay as we zero in on our area. not even one spot that is of abnormally dry. doing just fine. in fact the month of september , ended up bringing pretty soaking drenching downpour mid-month. that really helped give us surplus for the month of september. meanwhile, looking ahead, we

are actually going to the next full moon, harvest moon, because it comes very close to when the sun comes down, adds extra light, traditionally farmers and growers would use that extra light to continue to work on their summer crops. and it is also again the full moon that comes closest to the fall equinox, that moon will be rising again very shortly after the sunsets about 20 minute after. 6:56 p.m. thursday. so you'll have breitbart view, moonlit sky, the next couple of nights. dew point, still nice and low, down to the 50's, at most right now, 55 in wildwood. that's still incredibly comfortable air. with the wind remaining nice and light at this hour, you basically have carbon cop fry yesterday. the winds is beginning to shift little bit more on shore , little bit more southeasterly, but all-in-all still real nice fall day, very , very comfortable, as well, folks are certainly taking advantage of that. these loan two beach chairs outside beach patrol headquarters in margate two, folks aking a walk down the shore really is nice beginning to the afternoon.

certainly getting a little on the cooler side and the water temperature is reflecting that basically into the upper 60s around the area shore point in the actual ocean waterment as we look forward in the forecast, talk about the warming trends even though there are some front coming in , they don't really do ton to cool things off. soap, three of the next seven days, are going to hit at least 08 degrees. thursday, in advance of first front, then saturday, and sunday, now, here is the thing about the weekends. eagles are at home, this is important for tailgating purposes. it looks like our next best chance to see some more widespread rain comes on sunday, i think the showers are somewhat scattered friday, but we'll have to keep an eye on sunday, could ends up being a day that needs some back up plans. >> we'll keep you posted. >> yes, all right. >> thank you, katie. all right, koala bear, adorable, needed to be rescued earlier today after it was found on top of drilling rig, that construction site in australia. apparently the koala chased off busy road by a driver so the bear wouldn't get hit by a car, so the animal took refuge
