, going to be a busy day in the weather department. >> it is, but at least quiet here at home, definately tracking hurricane nate, that's going to be something we're watching through the weekend. then we will actually be dealing with some of the remnants of nate, as you head into your monday. in fact, monday looking like rather wet day. let's take a live look at the city from palmyra cove nature park. current temperatures there right around 66 degrees 68 degrees in philadelphia, temperatures millville, 67, down the shore, both wildwood, as well as atlantic city, 64 allentown, cool spot on the map, that's mount pocono check ing in right around 06 degrees this morning. so, here's what you can expect from the shore to the poconos today. talking 86 degrees in philadelphia, it is going to be feeling like summertime out there with a mix of sun and clouds, and unseasonably warm, average high right around 70.

anita, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, jan , we learned that victim is a 48 year old hispanic woman who owns that grocery store. police rush there last night after learning she had been shot once in the head, once in the back, 3400 block of fairmount avenue. this is the freddie grocery store there. police say that a neighbor called 911 after walking into the store around 8:30, that's 30 minutes before this store is set to close. that neighbor walked into buy cigarettes, saw the store owner holder her neck, bleeding and unable to talk. motive may be robbery. investigators found the cash register open, of southwest detective, though he adds nothing appears to have been taken. >> we think someone from the area that goes in there and thinks they're going to have an easy time of getting some money at the end of the night. obviously at some point fires that gun, critically wounds this person, changing these

people's lives forever. >> now police add that this is a well likes and well known family in that community. they are also reviewing surveillance video to help them find the person who may have committed this crime. if you know anything, call police. live at penn presbyterian medical center. >> anita, thank you. well, so far, no arrests in a double shooting in trenton that killed a woman and wounded a teenage girl. the shooting happened yesterday afternoon, at carver lane and north willow street. a 68 year old woman died short time later. fourteen year old girl is now in stable condition shot in the stomach and the arm. >> vice president mike pence head today las vegas today to take part in a ceremony mark mark the deadliest shoot g in modern american history. checking more than 1,000 leads , so far, how much, they don't know why the gunman shot 58 people at country music festival sunday. authorities say, there was not another gunman in the room on

the 32nd floor of mandalay bay a plan now underway to put up billboards, get more information. >> now, while investigators try to find out what was behind the shooting, one of the largest gun shows in our area is now underway. the weapon, it turned a semiautomatic gun into fully automatic gun. >> it is actually legal to install onto semiautomatic rifle. >> those bump stocks seen here are selling across the country like hotcakes, in stores and in gun shows. gunoctober fest, one of the large eggs shows on the east coast; going on this weekend in montgomery county. we were allowed inside the before the guns arrived earlier this week, organizers said no. authority say the vaguest killer tried to purchase tracer rounds, they give off pyrotecnic-like effect to illuminate the direction of the rounds. as victims are laid to rest, the focus shifts from las vegas to washington, cautiously optimistic? i whole heart educationally believe in the second amendment. there is no more than supporter of it than i am, but i can also tell you there are some common sense measures that not only we could but we should be taking.

philadelphia music legend bunny ziegler, he died after heart attack yesterday. the singer, songwriter and producer helped hen i gamble, and leon huff create the sounds in the 19 70s, as performer known for such hits like let the good tolls roll and feels so good. survived by his wife martha and two children, bunny ziegler was 76 years olds. >> still ahead on cbs-3 " eyewitness news" this saturday morning, saved by a man she never met before. the emotional re re reunion between las vegas victim and the stranger who refused to leave her side. we'll also have this. >> i couldn't walk 15 feet without running out of here. >> serious condition affecting a new jersey man's way of life but now he says he's back to his old self, thanks to doctors at a local hospital. our stephanie stahl explains the new procedure that he says got him back on track.

shooting, comfort dogs are helping to ease the pain of victims. take a look here, these dogs are with lutheran church charities, have about flown to last vague press all over the country, they were deployed over hurricane harvey and irma , many of them helping to heal the wounds. >> back here at home, dancing hems with the hurricane relief effort to puerto rico. >> ♪ >> ♪ >> ♪ >> it was salsa night at the piazza in northern liberties. proceeds from the event will go to the local organization established to coordinate relief effort. unfortunately, chelsey, tracking another now hurricane , hurricane nate. one after another? >> exactly, yes, so hurricane nate became a hurricane overnight, category one storm, i'll show you the latest up coming track from the national hurricane center as well, we'll start outside at your

local weather, summer like morning here, in center city. we have partly cloudy skies, and temperatures are very warm for this time of year. right now, it is currently 68 degrees in philadelphia. now keep in mind the average high temperature for this time of year is right around 70. so this is closer to where we should be feeling like as we head into this afternoon. but clearly, since we're starting off the morning so warm, the afternoon will be even warmer. 65 degrees in wilmington. 66 degrees in dover. right around 60 degrees in mount pocono. 67 degrees down the shore, atlantic city, wildwood is 66, and trenton ton those numbers will be climbing throughout the day. forecasting high temperature right around 86 degrees today. now that's not a record, but it is going to be very summer like for sure. 81 degrees sunday, for the next five days, significantly above average. only in the 70s monday. because we will be dealing with the renmant of nate in the form of rain.

and then we will finally start to see the numbers dropping off more fall-like warmth as we head into the middle and specially the ends of the upcoming week. in the meantime, we are unseasonably warmment big picture on storm scan3, we have warmfront located up to the north. that's enhancing the southerly flow. really going to pump in the heat throughout the day today. cold front located out to the west, and that is going to stall across the region as we head into the sunday-monday time frame. that will allow the renmant every nate to track right into our neighborhood, especially as we head into monday. things are looking rather wet. now, keep in mind, we've only seen about trace of rain so far this october. it has been a very dry start to the month. the average monthly rainfall, 3.18 inches, for the month of october, so i think we will be making up some ground, especially as we head into monday. now, here is the latest on hurricane nate. category one storm, a lot better organized when we are looking at it on the satelite

picture. winds maximum sustained around 80 miles per hour. looking up to the north- northwest at around 22, expected to make landfall, later on tonight, somewhere around the mouth of the mississippi river. this is going to cause some problems for portions of the gulf coast states, luis anna, new orleans, talking possible storm surge, in excess of around 6 feet, also dealing with the windy conditions, gusts over 100 miles per hour, maybe up around 110 miles per hour in some locations also with the heavy rainfall, then those remnants track into the northeast, as we head into monday, and this tuesday time frame. so here is a look on future weather. again, specking nate to make a landfall as we head into this evening. and then, eventually, weakening as it moves over lands, tracking along the spine of the appalachian mountains, then bringing us the renmant for your monday. so here is how things look at home. very quiet today. in fact, we remain rain-free, we mix with sun and clouds

than a dime. >> i had no life. >> the six a year old who lives in west depford has history of heart disease, most recently heart valve problem called mitral regurgitate. >> it shows you the valve, the blood instead of going forward is going backward. >> doctor at lords medical center says the traditional treatment is open heart surgery, but that's not an option for many patients who have mitral valve leak because it would be too risky. >> to up now it was not any hope. could not achieve quality of life. now it is different. >> that difference can come with a right role clip, similar to cardiac catheterization, designed to bring the two valves of the flap together more closely so they no longer leak blood. >> the clip is here, in the middle, where the clip is. >> here is alan as valve with the clip, more normal blood flourier stored, before this without the clip where there was severe leakage. >> i pretty much do anything i want to do now.

good morning, everyone, i'm jan carabeo. vice president mike pence is headed to las vegas today, as investigators work to figure out what caused a gunman to open fire on a crowd of concert goers. five days later, they still don't have any answers. and, as danielle nottingham reports, the gun men's personality making the task even more difficult. >> investigators have run down more than 1,000 leads trying to determine what motivated a wealthy retiree to gun down 58 concert goers, and wounds hundreds more in las vegas sunday night. >> we will not stop until we have the truth. >> the truth is he will lewes enough this case. sixty-four year old steven paddock did not leave a note. the high steaks gambler was not down on his luck. investigators say finances were not a motivation in the attack. sources tell cbs news paddock 's arsenal of weapons was mort more than $50,000. >> these kinds of individuals

back here at home now, loan for hours, six year old boy with special needs is dropped off at the wrong bus stop now his mother is demanding answers. marcus simmons was put on the bus thursday after school at j h brown elementary in holmesburg. now the substitute driver was supposed to drop him off at roosevelt boulevard and holmes avenue. instead that boy got off the bus two stops early. marcus' worried more said she didn't know where her son was for two hours. >> i imagine how terrified he was. all i kept thinking was he really thinks i forgot about him orest's wondering who is going to take care, where is his mother. >> it is unacceptable for this sort of thing to happen. we have procedures in place. >> now, fortunately, a good samaritan found marcus and called 911. marcus' mother says the bus company was rude to her when she demanded answers. they tell us marcus slipped through the cracks. >> a new jersey man is facing charges today for allegedly throwing a puppy out after

third floor window. khloe was rescued from a boarded up home on monmouth street in trenton. now according to police, her owner, 19 year old anthony mat lack, through the dog out of the window during a domestic dispute. now the puppy then fell through a collapsed roof next-door, and fell through two collapsed floors down to the basement, the terror area hospital in lance horning oversaw her care. the mat lock is due in court in two weeks on animal cruelty charges. philadelphia police and lawmakers visited neighbors along the 1500 block of stanley street recently to discuss their concerns about violence. hosting this public safety walk in grays ferry last night , the community outreach follows deadly shooting on that block on wednesday. police are now urging neighbors to smith tips about the shooting. well, philadelphia sheriff's offers has made history. it is the first in pennsylvania to implement a policy on how deputies

interact with transgender inmate, to make sure they're treated fairly. they'll have the option every filling out a new form during processing. >> the community will know these are some of the things that you need to talk to law enforcement about. you know? i don't want to be searched by a male. i don't want to be search by a female, i mean. all we're saying is have a listening ear to make it safe and convenient for the whole process. >> now, sheriff williams says the new policy will also help prevent fights on buses and in cells. amtrak is finally committed to renaming 30th street station. it will now be known as william h ray the third, 30th street station. us senator from pennsylvania, bob casey, made that announce ment on friday. us congressman for 13 years, after his death, four years ago, congress decided to honor his contribution to the city. they passed a bill officially

renaming 30th street station in gray's name. l bill was signed into law but amtrak failed to act until now >> meantime, amtrak is showing off its future fleet in philadelphia. at 30th street station, amtrak revealed a model of its next generation acela train. the train featuring a new paint job, will operate along the northeast corridor. amtrak says they'll feature one third more passenger seats than current acela trains as well as better amenities and smoother ride. >> this will be a luxury, very smooth trip in the future, on a new light wait train with luxury interior, which will have first class, business class on this train, the same as on the acela now. it will probably be slightly quicker journey. >> the new trains are set to be rolling down the tracks in 2021. >> well, friday was homecoming at bensalem high school. the bensalem owls took on council rock south. of course cheerlead remembers

a big part of the festivities, and our alexandria huff introduces us to one very special member of the squad. >> at a homecoming practice inside of the bensalem high school gym, everybody is bouncing. >> there is a freshman. rise to go a challenge. >> it was never a big deal. it was never we have to treat her different. it was just like any other girl. she just fits right in with the team. no one coming to practice would think anything different >> they're talking about alice >> what is it i love about cheerleader g is like interacting with other cheerleaders, be inspired, all of the other stuff we do. >> alice's passion for cheer has not been halted by the fact that she is deaf. >> i lost my hearing when i was one. >> do you know what led to that? >> we have no clue what happened. >> alice is able to understanded those around her, thanks to her cochlear implants, surgically implanted electronic device that allows the hearing impaired to process sounds. she also has a sign language

interpreter with her at school and during activities. >> i can hear everything it, with the backgrounds that that i can't understand what everybody is saying, that's why i have the interpreter. >> she cannot being looking down at inch interpreter when doing stunts, so they give her taps on her legs so she knows what's coming up next. >> alice says the exterior portion of her implant will sometimes come loose with a stunt, but with tape? >> i would stick it onto here. >> it is no big deal. >> dow want to go to college in the future for business. because i want to open up an as a hairstylist, so when deaf people come over, i can be able to communicate with to them, because when i take off my cochlear implant i hear nothing. >> so we're still dipping. >> it is nice to see that just because you could be different , it is no limitation whatsoever. >> reporting in bensalem,
