anything. >> more women come forward accusing of sexual . and challenges with the secretary of state. good morning from the stuld yoes 57 newsroom at cbs headquarter here in new york. good to be with you. i'm an ma ee green. one official describes the scene as pure devastation. after a string of fast and deadly fires. at least 17 have been killed and 200 missing. more than 2,000 homes and businesses have been destroyed. 17 fires are burning across seven counties and several more days of hot, dry, windy weather, fire-friendly weather is on tap. >> reporter: anne-marie, so many people here in santa rosa are

now homeless. take a look around me. this is the scene around this whole area. and just when you thought it couldn't get worse, a new emergency overnight. officials have called for more evacuations as these fires continue to burn out of control. smoke and flames burned through structures the northern california's wine country into the night as fire officials updated the public on efforts to stop the spreading. >> we're here to help, we're here to do the best we can, to stop this fire, to prevent any other loss. >> reporter: across the region stunned residents are taking account. >> just bought $420 worth of clo clothes on sale, and all my clothes are gone. >> reporter: this consumed the trailer park. numerous wineries also went up

in flames. >> a lot of people lost their houses and lost everything, so i think we can rebuild this. >> reporter: fire officials hope improved weather conditions will help contain some of these fires. in the meantime crews are in neighborhoods putting out hot spots and trying to protect the homes that are still standing. >> this is nowhere near over. this is very dangerous. >> reporter: the sonoma county sheriff says search teams including members of the california national guard have alrea already begun scouring for missing people. >> that team of 30 found 110 people safely today. >> reporter: the source of a lot of confusion around who is missing is the power is out, cell phone service is down. officials doan know if people are not answering their phones or they're not getting calls. so right now they're urging people to go on social media and

declare themselves safe. danielle nottingham, cbs news, santa rosa. some 400 miles south of the wine country fires there's another fire threatening thousands of fires in orange county. the so-called canyon fire destroyed 14 building and damaged over 20 others. at least 7,500 acres have burned but it is now 40% contained. most evacuation orders were lifted last night. the theme park remained open despite the orange glow. ash fell on some nearby neighborhoods and some residents said they had trouble breathing. ahead on "cbs this morning" carter evans and john blackstone with more on the wild devastating fires. well, the board members had no idea on the growing claims.

ronen pharoah of the "new yorker" spoke to 13 women who all claimed between the 1990s and 2015 weinstein sexually harassed or assaulted the women. three called it rape. it was said any allegations of nonconsensual sex are unee kalle. >> do you think your reporting will change anything? >> i think that for these women it already has. they have done something that sends a message about accountability. >> i spoke to an attorney who's an executive who referred to one of the claims all part of weinstein's serial misconduct. in las vegas, the city's national hockey league expansion

reaching another record high. walmart was responsible for nearly half that gain. the nasdaq finished seven points higher. driver's license numbers were reportedly included the information supposed in that massive cyber security breach at equifax. last month they said the private information of more than 145 million people was compromised. besides social security number, birth dates and addresses, the hack also exposed the driver's license numbers of over 11 million people. facebook's cce mark zuckerberg apologized for what's described as a tone deaf virtual reality tour. >> it appears we're here in puerto rico. >> the presentation shows avatars along with live images

here's a looked a today's forecast in some cities around the country. not only are the penguins the first team in the national hockey league literally in nearly 20 years to be repeat champions, you also captured the cup in three out of the last nine seasons. that's pretty amazing.

our top stories this morning, 17 wildfires burning this morning have caused widespread disruption. at least 17 people have been killed and at least nearly 200 others have been reported missing. and more women including angelina jolie and gwyneth paltrow say. they say they had no knowledge of the alleged harassment but 16 former and current executives and assistants knew of

weinstein's unwanted sexual advances. it's been three weeks since the hurricane hit puerto rico and recovery has been slow. about 80% of the power is still out and the death toll continues to climb. it's up to 45. david begnaud is in san juan. >> reporter: amid the misery, there's finally hope. this is on the western side of the island. for the last week this parking lot has been a distribution center. families drive up and get a single box of supplies. inside you've got everything from potted meat as it reads, applesauce, and candy. they're handing out little mres. folks say it's actually good. aides are getting through, but it's a trickle. in this nearby town it's as if the hurricane hit yesterday. homes are destroyed. families are collected rainwater to clean dishes and themselves.

it's a nightmare, this woman says. we also went to ponce in the southern part of the island, here, too, grocery stores are running low on food. even so people are lining up to get in. >> what do you want from your government? >> just to show up. >> reporter: he's a police officer here and a ugs navy veteran. we want people to move the gas, the food. >> booting on the ground. >> that's all. >> reporter: while the island struggles to cope, fema held a job fair, announced as good news by the white house, to hire 1,000 people, almost doubling its stachlt residents wonder how many worker us does fema need in order to end the emergency. the grorng of puerto rico tells the cbs news two people are believed to have died from a bacterial infection an now five other people are being treated with antibiotics.
