>> firm message from counter protesters as white national lifts march through fairmount park. tonight at 11:00 the philadelphia mayor is saying about this pair of protests. good evening, natasha is o off. i'm joe holden. it was clash of ideologies the protests were loud but mostly peaceful. "eyewitness news" reporter alicia nieves is live in the sat center with the details. >> joe, philadelphia' police department was made aware of today's white nationalist rally ahead of time as aprication the department had number of officers present and that precaution of course comes after months of similar gatherings in other parts of the country where these kind of -- these kind of protests became violent and in some cases even deadly. >> no nats cease, no kkk, no fascist usa. >> around 4:00 in the afternoon counter protester chaned over a group of white nationalist of fairmount park. they rallied near a statue just along boat house row the statue

is of european explorer the group said they organized around it to defend white heritage. counter protesters responded organizing around this entire group to denounce the heritage of white supremacy. we cannot share much of the audio from this gathering and counter protests because much of it is lace width pro fan nat. interaction between the two groups went on for half an hour. few tense moments but philadelphia police made sure to be barrier between the white nationalist group and counter protesters. mayor jim kenney responded to this gathering and counter protest in the city. >> we're in really bad situation in our country right now. however, the first amendment is the first amendment. >> the mayor adding a message specific to white nationalist groups. >> you're wrong. the message is you're wrong. and being white is not being -- is not supreme. i just think there's no place in our society for that kind of hatred and that kind of white supremacy or neyo naziism. >> despite testy moments at

rally in protest police say it ended without incident. reporting live in the sat center, alicia nieves cbs cbs3 i "eyewitness news". >> chester police are asking for the public's help to identify a man wanted for sexually assaulting an elderly woman at gun point. surveillance video of the suspect is now circulating on facebook. it was originally posted by brady hall. chester police are now encouraging people to share. officers say the suspect approached the victim in the walnut chestnut garden apartment complex early yesterday morning with a rifle. they say he robbed her, forced her behind cars and assaulted her. anyone with information should call chester police. police are investigating the brutal killing of a man found stabbed shot to death in northern liberties recording studio. the discovery was made at superior sound studios at third and willow around 7:30 this morning. detectives say the 30-year-old victim was stabbed and shot several times.

they found a bloody screwdriver near his body. the victim's name has not been released non arrests have been made. investigators have identified the body pulled from the schuylkill river near walnut street on thursday. the philadelphia medical examiner says he is 58-year-old philip right our found with gunshot wound to his forget. he was the entrepreneur behind the app emergency. and was featured on the reality tv show shark tank. the search is on for the driver wanted in a deadly hit-and-run crash in port richmond. police say a man was struck and killed nearly a gain knee and tulip around 2:30 this morning. eyewitness says a car drove around a broken down tractor trailer and may have hit the victim. we are told that car was seen speeding. police continue to investigate the deadly crash. firefighters are gaining ground in their battle against the deadliest wildfires in california history. at least 38 people are dead

nearly 6,000 homes and businesses are destroyed. authorities say right now two of the largest fires are nearly 50% contained. overall they say they are making progress in battling the more than 20 wildfires. >> the good news the wind while it blew in certain locations here in the napa valley, it didn't make as strong as they predicted at valley fort or ridges. we're still not out of the woods. there's wind but happy to say it's not as strong as it could have been. >> the fires are taking a massive financial toll on the region. insurers estimate the damage could top $6 billion. to hollywood now where the board behind the oscar awards has ousted hollywood producer harvey weinstein. this as another actress accuses weinstein of sexual misconduct. john shoe mew has more. >> reporter: harvey weinstein's fall from a list to outcast includes rebuke from

the town of dell rad dough 15 miles from san juan. people are waiting for their water rations and clean bags of ice from the local water treatment plant. it's scenes like these have that inspired locals to continue relief efforts. "eyewitness news". jennifer lopez alex rodriguez and mark anthony teamed up to make a difference for people impacted by natural disasters one voice concert kicked off tonight in my am knee, in order at the marlins park and also in los angeles. money raised from the concerts will provide, food, shelter, power and communications for people living without. new fall celebration is underway in manayunk. many turn out for the first ever manayunk harvest fest today. "eyewitness news" was in pretzel park. there's something for everybody. live music, home grown food, shopping centers and more. the festival started off with 5d run. proceeds from the race used to help improve and maintain pretzel park. it was a block party with a purpose in south philadelphia today. "eyewitness news" along the 1800 block of moyaminsing avenue. the block part was held in honor of ed mcbride had passed away in june.

philadelphia dressed in pink the skyline is. southeasterly winds at about 3 miles per hour and so far this october we know has been on the toasty side our average temperature in philadelphia running about eight and a half degrees above the normally above normal fo for september and belw normal nor october. few people still out there a couple see them out there strolling the boards on a saturday evening. getting a little late. people are heading in. mild conditions but that fog is settling in across the area. reducing visibilities. temperatures still up. upper 60s right now down the shore. 67 in wilmington. mid 60s in berks county the lehigh valley. mill 50's in the poconos but we have a cold front up wind you can see where that cold front is positioned right now ahead of the boundary near 80 degrees in st. louis. behind the boundary 48 degrees right now in twin cities. that cold front is in our future. ahead of the boundary a line of showers and imbed thunderstorm moving through the lower midwest when the cold front drops in

late tomorrow night and into early morning we can see a few showers generated by all is quite right now on storm scan3. we do those low clouds looming as well as that fog reduced visibles at our reporting sights down to 4 miles in ac. 7 miles in philadelphia. overnight tonight, keeping it cloudy areas of fog an little bit of drizzle as well. temperature only falling back to 64 degrees. another warm day. temperatures running about 15 degrees above the average cloud deck breaks up a bit as we head into the afternoon a humid day and our actual -- record high temperature for tomorrow is 87. so we won't be too far from that. checking in on hurricane ophelia just incredibly rare system. a category three major hurricane only hurricane on record or major hurricane to form so far northeast as we head into the next several days it will turn extra tropical. but still be at strong tropical storm strength when it makes an impact on, yes, ire land. the strongest system to impact that nation since 1961.
