>> reporter: according to authorities, it was the mother of those boys who called police to the home for a quote welfare check. she was taken into custody once the two brothers were found dead. the voices of children rang out from the corner of 9th and adams street. steps from the home where around 8:30 a.m. police found two children dead inside. >> they used to coming out praying when things happen like this. but it's never easy. >> reporter: these children joined community members for a prayer chain. >> i just don't know how much heartbreak we can take. >> lending their voices to the two deceased. a five-year-old and a baby just several months old according to police. investigators were called to the home by the mother of the two children under the pretense of a well-being check. >> officers met the mother outside, entered the location and actually saw two children that were deceased. they had a strong smell of gas,

actually backed everyone out and cleared the building. >> reporter: preliminarily police believe any odor of gas may have had little to do with the death of the young children. >> the children look like they may have been drowned at this time. >> reporter: the mother was home alone with children when the deaths occurred. she has been taken into custody for questioning. >> she dressed nice, the kids is usually dressed now. >> reporter: a neighbor of the family. >> she looked like a happy parent to be honest. >> reporter: with so many questions the community comes together as it so often does with candles, gifts and a circle like this to pray. an autopsy will determine what happened to these boys and how their young lives were taken so soon. reporting in wilmington, alexandria hoff, cbs3 eyewitness news. >> alex, thank you. the search continues tonight for a missing burlington county teenager last seen in south philly.

police in new jersey are still trying to determine whether or not hannah jones is a victim of human trafficking. police say she was last seen with this 32-year-old man early sunday morning on the 900 block of johnston street. he has since been charged with assaulting a police officer after fleeing and crashing into a sheriff deputy's patrol car. investigators say hannah jones fled the scene and was not with him when he was placed under arrest. >> philadelphia police are looking for the suspect who assaulted a wawa clerk last friday with a scalding hot coffee. henry rosoff has details from juniata. >> reporter: i just bought this cup of coffee and you can see the steam riding off of it a little bit and it's because of how dangerous this is when it's thrown at someone that police are taking this case so seriously. >> wow. when did this happen? >> reporter: we showed the video from friday afternoon to regular customers outside the wawa.

a security camera clearly captures a man in a hat hurled the hot coffee in a clerk splashing it all over them and the rental ster. >> you can scald somebody real bad like that. that's terrible. >> reporter: the man and the clerk are exchanging heated words and appear to be handing a credit card or money back and forth. the staff or corporate wouldn't comment on what happened nor would update us about how the burned clerk is doing but police say the designate r. detectives have a full investigation open and hope someone will recognize the suspect. >> >> reporter: if you do recognize the man in the video go ahead and call police. hr h., cbs3, high witness news. >> philadelphia city council is cracking down on illegal dumping. until recently anyone caught tossing things like furniture on the street would be fined between $100 and $300.

but city councilman propose strictor penalties to stop offenders. now it's $100,000 for an offense, 1,500 for a second and $2,000 for a third. >> in washington today president trump and mitch mcconnell discussed ways to move the stalled agenda forward. they met at the white house and held an impromptu news conference. there he called his relationship with mcconnell very good when steve bannon declared war against the republican establishment. >> tonight the national constitution center awarded its annual liberty medal to u.s. senator john mccain. senator mccain received the honor for his decades of service to the united states, including his time in the navy and the senate. the liberties medal is awarded

you go forward with the administration or is this just no way to tell at this point? >> i think it depends on what the president does. for example this iranian deal, we haven't figured out exactly what that means. these are going to be very interesting times. >> what do you say to the americans watching who look to you as a former presidential candidate, as someone who has served their country for decades, both in the military and in congress and they look to somebody like you and say what am i to make all of this. what am i to go make of these times? >> we're still the best experiment in the history of mankind. we are still a shining city on a hill. we're still the strongest and best. we're still an inspiration to those poor people that are suffering all over the world. we are still the model that made so much of the world happy and prosperous that we should be very, very proud of that. we are an unfinished work to say the least.

lives of at least 40 people. tropical storm ophelia caused three deaths in ireland today where it was the worst storm in half a century. it slammed into the island with 100 mile per hour winds, 30-foot waves battered the coast. the storm is expected to impact parts of britain tomorrow. >> this hurricane season. >> it's crazy. >> you don't often see the british isles being hit by atlantic hurricanes. just crazy conditions. >> unreal. >> luckily it's a lot quieter here at home. a cold front swept through it's a kould night tonight and temperatures slowly on their way back up but you'll see one constant every day in the 7-day forecast. let's start with a look at what's happening right now. it's a cool, clear night. no problems outside. skies are clear, it's a beautiful evening out there but you definitely need the jacket. if you step outside without one you think oh, boy better run

back in and grab the sweatshirt. it is getting chilly outside and that happens a lot on clear nights with a light wind and very, very low humidity like we're feeling tonight. storm scan 3 shows the front that brought the change ss out to sea see where the clouds and showers are. high pressure overhead that means clear skies across the north eastern part of the country. everything is very quiet tonight and it will stay quiet for next couple of days. this high pressure system is in place it's going to dominate our weather pattern for days upon days. tonight will be the coldest night we'll have and everything gradually warm up. we're down to 36 in mount pocono, 47 in allentown. still hanging on to 51 in the city. it's that urban heat island effect. you'll almost always see the city temperature warmer because of the concrete and blacktop retains heat better than rural areas where temperatures tend to drop more quickly.

dew points were in the 30s where temperatures could drop down to the dew point so there will be some spots that start tomorrow morning in the 30s. we had a pretty drastic dumb bl in the temperatures after that cold front came through. 2:00 a.m. this morning it was 71. 3:00 p.m. it was only 57. usually these are flip flopped. kind of an upside down day. the temperature dropped 14 degrees after the cold front passage and go down in the record books as a 71 degree high for today but as we know it definitely didn't feel like it in the afternoon. temperatures heading down into the 30s in a few spots tonight. we do have frost advisories they'll kick in at 4:00 a.m. any spot you see here shaded in blue will be until 9:00 a.m. these are not freeze warnings. frost advisory can happen when temperatures are in the mid 30s. portions of extreme interior south jersey. the front has cleared out, high

pressure in control. it's a cool night tonight with that frost advisory in spots but with this high dominating the pattern we're looking at sunny, low humidity conditions all week long. and what happens with high pressure overhead eventually the air mass begins to warm within itself as the high slips a little further east, we'll get to more of a southwest flow, a return flow on the back side of the high. we'll start on the cool side pulling this cool air in from canada and we'll finish the week on the warm side of that high, slightly milder weather but still a good deal of sunshine and dry weather expected for at least the next 5-7 days. your overnight outlook is clear and chilly. there is some forecast possible to the north, our overnight low in the city is 42. overnight temperatures around 34 or 35 degrees. tomorrow you start the day on a cold note, 61 will be our daytime high. a cool, crisp tuesday but take a look at this eyewitness weather 7-day forecast. you can't buy a 7-day forecast
