ago, look at the temperature change, 22 degrees colder in philadelphia, 22, also, in wilmington. so today here's what you can expect. sunny skies, feeling very fall -like, 61 degrees, there will be a slow warming trends this week. i'll have details coming up in your full forecast, now we send it over to meisha. >> chelsey, i actually wore a winter jacket in this morning, 3:00 a.m. had a winter jacket on and it was freezing cold. thank you so much for that. and it was wet yesterday. so we know it is probably going to be busy this morning, not because we have wet roadways, dry, but it was so slow yesterday, a lot of people will leave their home probably early this morning. factor that into your morning commute plans. already seeing movement, lot of construction, schuylkill westbound, right lane compromised there. construction schuylkill, the right lane compromised there, both directions cents here web between first avenue, between oaks and route 23, one lane blocked in each direction. and 95 north between route 413

and business route one i think that's kind of clearing out of your way right now. we do have it in the southbound side between 332 and 413. jim, rahel, back to you. >> thank you shall meisha. new this morning, flames rip through apartment building in cherry hill. >> one person was rushed to the hospital, multiple units were damaged. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do live at the scene with the very latest, good morning, trang. >> reporter: well, good morning, rahel, jim. given the size of this apartment complex, amaze that no one was seriously hurt. i'll show this apartment here on the fifth floor where it started. you can see all of the extensive damage, though the fire was contained to just three ants. now, paramedics did take one person to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but other than that, no injuries. but take a look at this video of the scene overnight. the fire started around 11:40 p.m. at the colonial apartments on cooper landing road in cherry hill. when firefighters arrived, residents were evacuating from the building. now the fire chief says it started in a fifth floor apartment, spread to neighboring apartment, and then traveled up to a third

apartment, on the sixth floor. the fire eventually roast to three alarm, but crews got it under control, in just about 40 minute. >> highrise fires can be difficult although not full highrise, still six floors, the fire fighers have to deploy and get the hose lines up to the fire floor. and then they encountered smoke and heat, not a single-family dwelling fire. under the conditions presented i this we did a good job, held the fire to where it started and quickly evacuated. >> taking another look at the damage done to these apartments, again, just three unit affected, by this fire. most everyone else is back in their apartments this morning. and coming up at 5:00 we will talk to some residents who told us how they got out of the building, despite pretty major problem that they were dealing with. but for now, live in cherry hill, new jersey, trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news," jim, rahel, back to you.

>> trang, see you at 5:00, thank you. >> a mother is in custody as wilmington police continue their investigation into the death of her two children. officers found the bodies of the boys inside their home on the 800 block of west ninth street. >> put a hedge every protection around the children >> neighbors attended prayer vigil near the home. there is no words yet on the cause of death for the boys, one was five years old, the other just few month old. investigators say the mother called 911 yesterday morning. >> officers met the mother outside, and entered the location, actually saw two children were deceased. they had a strong smell of gas actually backed everyone out, cleared the building. >> they say the mother was home alone with the children when they died. investigators continue to question her. in other news, students in gloucester county monroe school district are expected to head back to school. all six schools in the district were shutdown last week for testing and clean up

after mold was found at holly glenn elementary. the holly glenn and whitehall elementary schools will remain closed until further notice. students who a those schools are being relocate today other schools for now. >> mold problems at philadelphia's john b kelly elementary school, as well, that school supposed reopen today. not so fast. school district says the school in germantown will reopen tomorrow. the school has been closed since last thursday after mold was found in several classrooms. officials blame the building's hvac system for the problem. police in new jersey are still looking for a burlington county teen and trying to figure out if the 14 year old girl is a victim of human trafficking. officers last saw hain a jones early sunday morning in south philadelphia. they say she was inside a car with p two year old devon harley. officials close in the on the it, you see him here, harley crashed into the patrol carve sheriff's deputy. harley took off with hand a, abandoned his car several

blocks away, harl did i make it were a mile but officers caught up with him and arrested and charged him with assaulting a police officer. but hand a was no where to be found. police believe harley may be the key to finding a the missing girl. >> i did observe hand a in the front passenger seat. how much, the driver failed to listen to our commands, and fled the area. >> the fbi has now teamed up with the philadelphia sheriff's offers and florence township police in their search for hand a jones. >> local community gathered to talk about the opioid epidemic what officials are calling a growing public health crisis. "eyewitness news" at upper darby high school perform willing art center last night, it was a packed house, resident took part in a community forum on the issue. state health officials say that ten pennsylvanians die every day from drug overdoses. one of the participant said it is important to break the silence about addiction. >> so many people are suffering in silence because of the shame that they feel, whether they're either the

active addict, or someone that is a co-dependent living with or loving addict. so it means everything. a lot of times people don't know where to turn. >> officials say the goal of the free event was to educate the community about the warning signs of substance abuse and help families impacted by addiction. >> caught on camera, man tossing hot coffee in the face after clerk at wawa. now, philadelphia police need your help in tracking down the culprit. here is the video. it happened last friday at the wawa on the 1300 block of east erie avenue in juniata. neither the staff there or corporate officials would elaborate on what led up to the assault. if you recognize the suspect, you're urged to contact police >> albright college is offering to re reinstate three football players cut from the team for failing to stands together during the national anthem. one player is 19 year old back up quarterback, tyree did your and the, his story made national headlines, albright lions decided they would kneel as a team, and stand during the anthem.

officials say the three have been told they can return because it isn't clear that they all agreed to the gestures. >> happening today, philadelphia businesses and workers head to harrisburg to complain about the economic impact in the city beverage tax. they'll go before a state senate committee this morning, just yesterday, a survey by the city controller's office revealed that the one and a half cents per ounce tax for sweetened beverages is a money loser, survey shows 60% every local businesses have lost revenue. this has been on the books since january. >> strong words from senator john mccain, he accepts the liberty medal at the national constitution center former vice president joe biden presented, the mccain received for his decade of work in the navy and the senate. in the speech he talked about today's political climate. >> to refuse the international leadership, our duty to remain the last best hope of earth, for the sake of some half

>> cause of deadly high-rise fire in honolulu, it caused more than $107 million in damage. the apartment building overlooking waikiki didn't have fire sprinklers. after the fire, the city's mayor introduced the bill requiring sprinklers in all highrise buildings regardless of when they were constructed. >> florida governor rick scott is issuing state of emergency ahead after speaking engagement by a white nationalist at the university of florida. >> richard spencer's speech isn't until thursday, but protest haves already started there. dozens demonstrated yesterday

friday. >> an odd plot to steel if a he a -- fahita's leaves texas man behind bars. >> the suspect was an employee at this juvenile justice center. and had been stealing fahita's over the last nine years. the man's scheme unraveled after another employee intercepted an order for 800 pounds of fahita's. the problem is, the center doesn't serve them. investigators say the suspect was using the fahita's for a side business. >> selling something not quite as edible. >> you're selling a nice forecast, kelly? >> i am. tons of sunshine, you guys, as long as you can deal with the chill today, we'll have gradual warming throughout the week. so if the cool weather is not quite what you want, we have 70s in the forecast, too, right now live look at the neighborhood network. looking at the city, and we've got some dry conditions today. we've got at any of sunshine that is headed our way as we move into the afternoon. but, just look at these numbers. definitely a chill across the

region. right around 44 degrees, currently in philadelphia. forty-two in wilmington. we are close to where we kind of should be for this time of year. forty-one in millville. forty-four in wildwood. we were 40 in atlantic city, 40 degrees in allentown, in the 30's, in mount pocono. 33 degrees and 38 in reading, so those locations dealing with a frost advisory this morning. but high pressure, that is the name of the game for the extended outlook. all the way through this upcoming weekends, high pressure will be dominating the forecast it, will promote another chilly night on tap. along as we have these west and northwest winds that we're tapping into. low humidity, that's in the forecast, pretty much all week so, as i mentioned, the slow warming will be taking place, of course today will be on the chilly side of things for sure but 70 degrees by wednesday. winds out of the west and southwest over the next couple of days, with high pressure just slightly moving off shore 73 degrees thursday, 74 on friday, and then, mid 70s on

saturday, and even then we are talking plenty of sunshine, and that's the case today, from the shore to the poconos, 61 for the high temperature in philadelphia, and 58 degrees down the shore, and wonderful sunshine in the poconos, right around 54 degrees. so, here's a look at hawk expect for tonight. clear skies, chilly lows, overnight low temperature right around 46 degrees, and quick check every your eyewitness weather seven day forecast, sunshine all across the board, meisha, hope you'll like the sun. >> you know it, you know i do. yes, we will be so happy about that, thanks so much, chelsey, especially coming off a day like yesterday, so rainy and gloomy specially in the morning, and this morning what we're dealing with, just very, very cold outside. so what i will say about yesterday, still rainy because everyone had to leave their homes little early, usually we see the next day it seems to be the trends, lever early again, sitting in traffic. so already looking outside, this is looking at where we have some construction, schuylkill westbound between south street and the vine. that construction now cleared. but what you can see out there

, already, how busy it is not even in the 5:00 hour yet. take a look at this, it is car after car after car. and they're traveling pretty darn slow, as well. so on the schuylkill, around that area, between south street and vine, start to give yourself little extra time. construction eastbound, between conshohocken curve and belmont, right lane still compromised, cones in the roadway, flashing light, even the brake light going off at this point. 422 we had it in both directions, now left with the even side. between oaks and route 23. one lane is blocked there. construction work remembers trying to get that remedy for you. then on the southbound side of 95 between route 332 and 413, construction here, as well. jim, rahel, back to you. >> thank you shall meishament philadelphia getting tough on litterbugs. >> tougher penalties the city now imposing on people caught dumping trash illegally. we will be right back.
