>> live from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". fixture on south street is gone. flames destroy a popular restaurant a landmark in society hill for almost 40 years. now few have above chopper three live loafer burn out shell of bridget boyd's. fire crews remain on the scene putting out hot spots for hours aft this morning's fire. >> iconic restaurant was heavily damaged in this massive two alarm fire. >> good afternoon i'm rahel solomon. >> i'm jim donovan. the fire killed two dogs and injured firefighte firefighters. trang dough were on the scene all morning long.

>> reporter: flames and heavy smoke billowed out of the bridget foys hours after fire started in the restaurant's basement just after 1:15am. >> smoke billowing out non-stop. >> reporter: more than 100 firefighters balanced the flames. which they were able to contain to the building. commissioner adam thiel called eight very stubborn fire. >> push in, got deep inside the basement of this restaurant and then the made very good decision to pull out and make exterior tactic. condition were dangerous stay inside. >> reporter: paramedics transported three firefighters with unknown injuries to area hospitals. all were in stable condition. >> very deep seeded stubborn very up tense fire. >> reporter: 11 people and eight animals are displaced from nearby apartments. two dogs inside doggie style pet store next door also heavily damaged by the fire were killed. >> tragedy. it's scary to know that it happen. >> reporter: neighbors woke up to the smell of smoke in the air.

only to come outside and see a south street institution devastated. >> i live across the street it's always crowded. always putt people eating outside. people inn sigh. so very popular, yeah. >> reporter: as firefighters continued to try to save this neighbor staple i did speak briefly to the owner he have bridget foy's. said he was too upset to make comment. this restaurant has been in this neighborhood for nearly four deck kay. from head house square, i'm trang do, cbs3 "eyewitness new news". >> meanwhile spoke could be seen for miles from two alarm barn fire on chester county farm. firefighters responded to the farm around 7:15 this morning. it took crews about three hours to place the fire under control. no injuries have been reported it's unclear at this point fay i wasn't malls were inside that barn. police are investigating the shooting deaths of two, 16-year-old boys in south philadelphia. i writ witness news reporter greg argos is live at that

scene. good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon rahel. this is very tight night community as ugh imagine last night this community the scene of that double murder. in fact right here mind me you can see some of the circles from where the bullet casings were and over there many folks have gathered, police still here on scene as this community and this family is mourning suspects are still being sought by police. >> we had a confrontation it happened between two groups of school aged kids, um, probably a dispute. the kids go the into a fight. gun was produced. two people shot. two kids lost their lives. still a lot of work to be done. but again it's just when you introduce firearms into dispute with school aged kids tragedy results. >> reporter: as you heard from captain jack ryan the shooter and an accomplice are likely teens themselves. the victim here -- victims i shall say 1684 old sal who lived on this block and 16-year-old

career miller investigators say some type of argument broke out around 8:30 last night between the victims and the suspects. one of the suspects pull out a handgun and shot both sal and career once each in the chest. they both were pronounced dead at jefferson university hospital shortly after 9:00 last night. this afternoon those that new sal said he was a loving kid a junior at st. joe' prep. one friend heard the shots and immediately went tout see what happened in i heard the shots from my house and i ran out and seen somebody laying on the pavement my best friend. i just tried to do what i can. that was really it. waited until the cops came. it was sad. it was really bad. >> reporter: back here life i can tell you police are holding a press conference this afternoon at police headquarte headquarters. 3:00 p.m. they're going to update us on this investigation but i heard from the captain of homicide he says no arrests yet have been made. we're live here in south

dreaming beg despite her disability. >> today's love it meisha introduces us to an athlete who's an inspiration to so many. >> elma from portland oregon considered her life a -- she received a prosthetic leg two months after her right leg was amputated none of which has held her back one bit. sports is what she loves and she's laser faux cuff. take look. >> annie never questioned whether she'd play sports and like a normal kid, she tried several before she found her niche. >> i used to play soccer. i played little bit of tennis and i tried water polo once. i decided to try volleyball my sister played volley because and she loved it. >> so i tried out for the volleyball team at my middle school in seventh grade. and i like fell in love with it. >> also pretty good. despite the fact that she faces a may your challenge. that very few her age have to face. >> my femur was shorter and my

fibula was bone was gone. they amputated at nine months old at 11 months i got my first pot set tick and i started walking and i've been going ever sips like a regular girl. >> annie plays on freshman volleyball team at south salem but she's not stopping there. she's dreaming big. dreaming of, the para olympic. >> my goal is to be in tokyo. i don't know if that's very realistic goal to me it is. i think if i push myself hard enough i can be there. >> what a gal. in addition to her schoolwork and playing on her freshman team, annie flows to oklahoma city on monthly basis to train with team usa sitting volleyball para olympic team. she's never been one to let her dissable define what she's capable of doing and she's certainly not doing to start n now. good for her. >> talk about role model. >> you think about how young. you think maybe you get you've it to. but play also sports and not even to think -- not let it faze you one bit. >> it's what she knows. i think that's really awesome she's towering above it.
