>> we are following breaking news in south philadelphia this morning, shots fired at home near 16th and juniper overnight. the gunfire comes after police share a person of interest picture and address on twitter this is all related to the murder of two teens earlier this week. trang do is there. and we'll have live report for just just a moment. >> also this morning, new details emerge in the attack in niger left four soldiers dead, new concerns being raised by politicians. >> and rescued at sea, and just in the nick of time. we will tell you how two people and two dogs were able to stay alive for months on the open water, and what was just about to happen to them. today is friday, october 27th, good morning, i'm jim donovan. >> i'm rahel solomon a loft

will take effect, as well. like i said, talking more about that coming up in a little bit. looking outside 95 south at girard, what you are looking at, starting to build levels ever so slightly at girard, we can expect that dropping to the 5:00 hour. construction on the schuylkill eastbound, closed between vine and south street, it is all clear, so looking good there, rahel, back over to you. >> meisha, thank you. search is on for the cause of this house fire, that injured a philadelphia firefighter. the fire broke out last night on the 1800 block every widener place in germantown. we're told the firefighters injuries are non-live threatening, no one hurt, and we'll get you that video later in the show. >> also, let's get out to trang, we hear there has been update in the murder of two philadelphia high school student. >> well, breaking right now, just days after two teens were killed in south philadelphia, shot are fired at the home of the teen believed to be person of interest in that case. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do again live in south philadelphia. trang, quite the development overnight. what do we know? >> reporter: rahel, jim there is sever changing situation.

just moments ago, there was police tape surrounding this entire area. but that has since been taken away. this is the 1600 block of juniper street, and just in the in middle of the street if you look all the way down there was another line every police tape that was marking where those shots were fired. again, this is the street where teenager, who the person of interest in the shooting death of two south philadelphia teenagers, lives, he was not home at the time. but again, police are looking for that person of interest, who we are not naming until police make this public. now, police initially had released a picture of this person of interest, on social media, as well as his address. but then quickly took that down. and here at the scene there were at least ten evidence markers on the grounds that have since been taken back up. but again, to remind you, the victims are 16 year old kal mere i junior at master charter and st. joe's prep student sal dinubile, also 16. two young men shot and killed after argument outside of the

nub bile's home. unclear what the argument was about, but again, police are looking for that person of interest, who lives on this block of 1600 jupiter street where shots were fired early this morning. so, very developing story. we hope to learn more from police shortly, but we will sends you the update just as soon as we get it. for now live in south philadelphia, i'm trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news," jim, rahel, back to you. >> thank you, trang for that update. >> a six year old boy in serious condition this morning , after he was hit by a school bus in camden. this happened after 4:30 yesterday afternoon on alabama and collings road. authorities returned the boy to the hospital. now, it is unclear if the boy was trying to get off of the bus when he was hit. police are still trying to figure out what caused this accident. >> authorities charge a former west philadelphia charter school official with raping a 14 year old girl. police say 42 year old omar harrison, an assaulted the child near the ends of the past school year.

at the time harrison was the dean of student, at master i charter heritage school. victim was in eighth grade. she told police harrison drove her to hotel near airport in maine cup township then raped her. harrison now being held on $100,000 bail. well, president trump is receiving mixed reviews after declaring america's opioid crisis of public health emergency. supporters applauded the president's move yesterday. however, critics pointed out the that the declaration will not release new money to fight the epidemic. instead it, it will use existing federal funds. opioid crisis killed more than 64,000 people last year. >> meanwhile, nearly 2800 documents related to the 1963 assassination every president john f. kennedy are now public but hundreds more were withheld at the request of the ci a and the fbi, over national security concerns. some of the documents detail the us government's efforts to overthrow the castro regime, in the 19 60s, and 70s. we'll have much more on this story in a live report coming up at 5:30.

>> it has been weeks, and the search for answers still continues on a mission that killed 4us soldiers in niger. senators newly briefed are raising alarm the soldiers may not have had adequate resources toss defend themselves. more than three weeks after that ambush, lawmakers say, they still don't know why sergeant la david johnson and -- one of the 4us soldiers were killed. >> they do not have an answer from headquarters as to why it was 48 hours until they could locate and retrieve sergeant johnson's body. >> and pentagon officials believe someone in a niger village tipped off isis millitant about the us military presence there. >> philadelphia police make at least one arrest in the violent carjacking caught on camera in the city's kingsessing section. the attack happened last friday night at the luke oil gas station on the 5700 block of baltimore avenue. the video shows one of the suspect knocked pizza delivery man to the ground. another suspect later took off

he stopped christie's commuter tax, saving south jersey residents over 200 million dollars. and he led the charge to pass paid family leave. aarp applauded sweeney for freezing property taxes for seniors and cutting prices on prescription drugs. >> back on "eyewitness news" this morning, violence breaks out between politicians in kenya. this happened yesterday at the country held a re-run for a presidential election. members of the opposition party have accused ruling party of using threats and and inch intimidation. kenya supreme court ruled that a presidential election in august had to be re-done because it was unconstitutional. >> well, a wild police chase in ohio, but what makes this different? the suspect was a ten year old . >> this is crazy stuff. officers had to surround the child in order to stop him. police chased him down a

highway near cleveland yesterday. at one point he veered off the road. this is the second time this month that this boy has stolen his family's car. this time he led troopers on high speed chase for more than , get this, 50 miles. >> that's clearly very dangerous, where are the parent there? unbelievable story this morning, the navy rescues two americans and their dogs for five months. that is the sounds of relief. the women say they've been stranded since may. they were attempt to go sale from hawaii to that heat i, but their boat lost power, was damaged during the storm. fishing boat found them hundred miles miles southeast of japan, contacted the coast guard in guam. they say they survived because they had more than a year supply of food. >> relief for the family of oregon man found alive after he went missing on hiking trail over the weekend. friends found year year old nathan mitchell in the wilderness, about 400 feet off

the trail. mitchell was able to walk out on his own, but was weak after five days in the woods. >> well, flames are ripping through the cleveland national forest, in southern california , now officials are issuing mandatory evacuation orders, the brush fire started around 12:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, about 70 miles from los angeles. now, while some people chose to flee their homes, others have decided to wait a bit longer. >> what i thought was little premature, you know. >> not evacuate? >> not yet. i'm going to wait until flames get little closer. >> we're not being dumb, but don't want to be over panic at the same time. >> twelve people died in those fires. i would be out of there if i were them the flames started when a man crashed his dirt bike into a tree, igniting the bike's gasoline. >> you know, i mean, these things move fast. >> they sure do. got to be sufficient a tough call though leaving your entire livlihood. but i understands the strung

depression, so for now, this front, eventually, creeps east , joins up with the tropical moisture, the two collide, and bamm you've got yourself very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms to go with it, too. for now, nice, sunny, especially in the afternoon, very, very comfortable. but it is chilly this morning. specially because we have the light win. your outlying suburbs specially, could ends up with some frost. so, make sure to give yourself extra spare minute before you hit the road. bit cool tonight certainly, not as chilly as it currently s we do rebound nicely into tomorrow. up to 71, still with sunshine, tomorrow actually looks like real nice day. overnight tomorrow, but specially sunday though, that's when the rain comes through. and it will douse us, guys. 66 degrees the expected high. and again this looks like it could essentially be all day event. so have your back up plan ready whether going to fall festival or tailgating. halloween is looking good, meisha. >> yes, just going back to the tailgate, i'll be out there

hosting it with all of my boys at wip. i hope you guys make it out. rain or sunshine. we are going to be out there. i hope you guys will be, too. looking outside right now, 422 , turnpike, what we are looking at, there steady flow here. we can expect it to build a little bit. but on a friday it will be one of the lighter travel days. that being said, the schuylkill headlight moving in the eastbound direction past king of prussia. this area is starting to heat up little bit quicker than what we just saw on 422, and the boulevard, starting to heat up just ever so slightly, as well. as you push in the southbound direction toward the schuylkill, then once you jump on to the schuylkill around city avenue, starting to see it pick up a little bit as well. now this is where we have an accident investigation. in galloway township, on the road right now closed between leak i can avenue. use alternate, jimmy leads rogan wrangle borough road these will be your best bets around there. so heads up, if you can stay away from this area. you probably want to do so if you can if you have to head out there. i would start to factor in couple of extra minutes to your commute at this point.
