tracking a sunday soaker, a flash flood watch is now in effect for heavy rain today, it is first part of the system that will bring 1/2 punch of nasty weather to the tri-state area. today is sunday october 29th good morning everyone i am's jan carabao. lets get over to that forecast right now and here's meteorologist chelsea ingram with eyewitness weather. good sunday morning, chelsea. a lot of rain to talk about. >> not just rain but wind will be a major component of things as we head in the overnight hours tonight and into your monday, but lets get to it and take to you storm scan three right now we are in the holding pattern. we have a bubble of dry air around the philadelphia area, scout jersey, delaware but we're surrounded by rain on

all side. we have rain off the coast, we have rain to our south, and then rain to our west, rain is going to be over spreading the region as we head throughout the morning hours today, we're starting to see some light rain and pockets of heavier rain around the lancaster area making its way in berks county as well, so this will continue to over spread the area, throughout the morning hours and it could be heavier at times that is why a flash flood watch has been issued for all areas that you see highlighted in that green color. it initial to effect at noon time and last through midnight so counties surrounding philadelphia and poconos, lehigh valley will remain in effect until about 4:00 a.m. here's what you can expect not just today but monday, prolonged rainfall, amounts from one to 3 inches, locally higher, possible causing localized flooding, gusts to 50 miles per hour as we head into monday, i'll time it all out in your full forecast. but for now back to you. >> chelsea, thank you.

6:01. happening now police are looking for person who stabbed two teenagers, stabbing happening at olney and north park avenue overnight, that is near philadelphia's logan section. both of the teenagers were taken to the hospital, and one of them is in extremely critical condition, and in word yet on what may have led up to the stabbing. a homicide investigation is underway in southwest philadelphia, this all happened at seventh third street and west passyunk avenue where a man was shot in the head. right new police do not know who that man is, no arrests have been made and no word on a motive. police are investigating a shooting in west philadelphia, this shooting happened near the 6100 block of arch street overnight, victim was taken the two hospital, no word on that condition or what may have led up to this shooting. a group of volunteers who cared for stray cats are heart broken today, someone set a shelter they built for animals on fire. it is not first time, this has happened. as "eyewitness news" reporter

alycia nieves shows us those volunteers want those responsible caught quickly. >> reporter: volunteers at stray cat relief group were trying to pick up pieces of is what left of the stray cat outdoor shelter. >> so at 8:20 we got a phone call and was told that a friend had seen a fire actually lit, it was engulfed. >> reporter: police and volunteers think early morning fire at outdoor cat shelter in the penns landing area was intentionally set. >> every single feeding station, every house, anything that the cats had for any kind of warmth they burned to the ground. >> we're all upset and distraught. >> reporter: fire devastates volunteers because they built the shelter for cats in the area that they have newterd and nurtured. in of the cats were harmed in this fire it is third one that has been set here in nearly two weeks. on top of that spca has responded to at least one cat found mutilated in the area

charged with murder, 16 year-old brandon oliveri is accused of fatally shooting dinubile and 16 year-old caleer miller. it happened at 12th and ritner , two groups were fighting before the shooting, oliveri is being held, without bail. police are looking for i man who robbed a woman at gunpoint at king of prussia mall, police say this surveillance picture shows suspect car, the robbery happened yesterday afternoon, and police say woman was getting into her car when a man walk up to her, pulled out a gun and demanded her purse. he's described as a man as 30 to 40 years old with medium build. clean shave even with rotting top teeth. to delaware county now school officials say a ozone air purifying machinist to blame for a health scare at penn crest high school. rose tree media school district officials say the machine in a locker room released fumes after a football game friday night. officials say the machine usually releases those fumes

than 150 people died in the united states and rebuilding continues today. officials say the storm caused more than $70 billion in damage. that event in one new jersey town helped raise money for those affected by hurricanes, 1600 people gathered in sea side park ocean county to break record for most sand angels done simultaneously. event was ocean first bank, raised more than $30,000 for people and businesses, affected by super storm sandy and victims of the hurricanes. turning to today's forecast a lot of rain and wind on tap a lot have rain today. we could see several inches maybe upward of five in some locations that is not out of the question and wind arrives as we head in the overnight hours tonight and tomorrow. with the a live look here at the city. thinks palmyra cove nature park in new jersey and notice we're dry, dry for now but that is all going to be changing in just a matter of hours, and at times today we

will be dealing with some, heavy rainfall. you can see greater philadelphia region kind of surrounded by rain on all side , we have rain located just off the coast, down to the south and then some out to our west associated with a frontal boundary slowly but surely pushing its way east. we will see this rain over spreading the region from the south as we head in the next several hours, we are starting to see some of that rain working its way in to lancaster counties, western berks county, we have some pockets of the moderate rainfall located south of the lancaster area, so this will continue to be the trend, as we head into the next several hours, we are also talking about philip and i will tell you why in a second. 45 miles an hour, it is a tropical storm moving east/ northe at 17 located over florida keys area. the reason we're talking about this is because it will be accelerating very quickly off to the north ande and this will help enhance our rainfall , later on today, and

tonight. so it will be a big player even in all way up as far as into the northe, throughout the day-to-day. so, future weather shows what is going to be going on over the next several hours. just look heading in the afternoon hours, as this rain pushes its way from the south. we will deal with pockets of the heavier rain in some locations and that rain could come down at a fast clip, look by the afternoon and evening. thinks where i anticipate to see some of the heaviest rain to be falling. we could see couple inches in about six hours or so, so that is why we have those flash flood watches that happened and have been issued for greater philadelphia area into new jersey and in the lehigh valley and poconos. those go into effect starting at the noon time hour today lasting through midnight tonight for philadelphia and then all the way through 4:00 a.m. for lehigh valley and poconos into tomorrow morning. there will be a little bit of the dry slot that works its way in overnight followed by a more showers, light rain as we head into monday morning

before it all begins to clear on out and we are welcome back sunshine heading in to monday afternoon but on the back side , of all of this rain we will be dealing with the wind. as far as rain amounts we're thinking still anywhere from one to 3 inches will be a possibility, however, we could see locally higher amounts especially east of i-95, some spots could get upward of 5 inches and that is why we have a flash flood watch in effect, and in addition to the rain we have been talking about the wind. look at how wind heading in to sunday night and monday morning ramp up, we're talking future wind gusts over 40 miles an hour in some locations and some spots maybe even up to around 50, before they begin to eventually, subside, but we are still looking at a very windy machine on tap, that is why a wind advisory has been issued. that goes into effect overnight through the noon time hour on monday. gusts to 50 miles an hour can be expect. temperatures right now in the 60's.

noon time today lasting tonight through lehigh valley and poconos lasting through 4:00 a.m. in the morning. prolong rainfall is expect throughout your sunday, we could seed rain amounts from one to 3 inches but into, down the shore we have actually seen four or 5 inches in spots flooding will be a problem, and then those strong wind moving in behind the rain, into monday morning, some of the strongest rain will be arriving. temperatures in the 60's. sixty-three in philadelphia. i don't expect temperatures to change that much today because we will have rain across region creating what we call isothermal atmosphere. sixty-five by noon hours. rain at times. heaviest rain moving in this afternoon and evening. i'll time it out in a bit, back to you. 6:30 on the dot police and rescuers respond to two crashes near each other on the 42 freeway in new jersey overnight. take a look first happened in the southbound lanes near exit number 10a near wood land avenue in camden county.

three people were taken to the hospital, one was seriously hurt. no word yet what caused the crash. later there was a second accident on route 42 this one happened in the southbound lanes at 10b, by lower landing road in camden county. you can see two cars were involved one flipped over. the other one had damage to the front end. three people were taken to the hospital in this crash n word on their condition or what may have led up to this crash. well, eagles excitement is in the air they hoe san francisco 49ers today at the linc and fans are excited for this match up, despite the wet forecast.
