between adams avenue and f street inner lanes are closed there, jim and rahel, back to you. well, shot in the line of duty camden county police officer is rushed to the hospital. >> we are told officers have one suspect in custody. shooting happened around 10:30 last night near ninth street and chelten avenue in camden. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do went outside cooper university hospital where the officer is being treated, good morning, trang do. >> reporter: good morning, fortunately this officer's jurist non-life threatening and is in stable condition at cooper hospital where he is being monitored throughout the night. now doctors praised the actions of other officers who have applied a tourniquet to the wound to really stop the loss of blood, but take a look at this video of the scene overnight from chopper three shooting happened again, just before 10:30 p.m. wednesday near ninth and chelten avenue in camden. police chief scott thompson says his officers were conducting an investigation in the area and stopped a few people. one of those men pulled out a gun and struggle ensued. in the middle of the struggle

an officer was shot, was rushed to cooper university hospital and other officers then arrested the shooter without incident and also recovered the gun. now chief thompson praised action of the injured officer as well as his peers. >> here's what we know? we know a bad guy had a gun on him and wow do bad things witt out there on the street. but not for our officer intercepting him and taking him off the street and the gun , you know, probably would have been a lot worse events taking place tonight. >> reporter: the chief is not naming the officer at this time but has been on the force for about a year. he is not naming suspect but says he does live here in camden. for now we are live from cooper university hospital i'm trang do for cbs-3 "eyewitness news", jim and rahel, back to you. well, new this morning a 23 year-old man is murdered in north philadelphia overnight. police responded to 16th and lip cot street just after 2:00 s suffering from a gunshot wound he was pronounced dead at the

scene. so far no arrests have been made. also new one person is dead and another person is in the hospital after a car crashes into a building in north philadelphia. this happened, on the 900 block of rising sun avenue earlier this morning. investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the crash. we are told surviving victim is under going surgery but is in critical but stable condition. new details behind new york terror attack as suspect makes his first court appearance. as cbs news correspondent kenneth craig reports the death toll could have been much worse. >> sayfull saipov appeared in u.s. district court handcuffed and in a wheelchair as he was charged with federal terrorism charge. >> first material support of the terrorist organization, that being isis. and second, a federal charge of violence and destruction of a motor vehicle. >> reporter: according to the court filings 29 year-old chose halloween as a day to mow down pedestrians a bikers believing there would be more civilians on the street.

authorities say that they have evidence, establishing his support for isis, including a notary covered outside of the rental vehicle that he used. also, a search of cell phones found in a bag that he was carrying revealed thousands of ice is related images and 90 videos. >> reporter: officials say saipov conduct a practice run last week, and wanted to continue his attack down this west site highway bike path to kill more people on the brooklyn bridge. >> oh, my god. >> reporter: that did not happen. the immigrant crashed his truck into this school bus carrying children before eventually, being shot in the abdomen by nypd officer brian nash. >> i understand the importance of yesterday's events and the role that we played and i'm grateful for recognition we have received. >> reporter: this video shows some of the saipov's victims riding along the bike path before they were struck and killed. the group of childhood friend from his argentina were

celebrating a high school reunion in new york at the time. back in their country, mourn ers lit dozens of candles in their honor. kennett craig for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". in other news, this morning three people are dead after a gunman opens fire inside a wal-mart in colorado. the manhunt is on for that suspect. shooting happened around 6:00 yesterday evening, at this store in thornton, thinks just north of the denver. authorities say that the man seen in this surveillance image casually walked in the store and randomly began shooting. he then got away in a red car, gunfire sent customers running for the exits. >> i turnaround and i see all of the people running. i just didn't know what was going on. they are shooting, they're shooting. >> now all road approaching the store are currently shut down as police search for that suspect. the public is being urged to avoid that area. state investigators in delaware county raid a nurse

being home after complaints about the care given to patients. "eyewitness news" has learned that visitors to the saint frances rehab and health care center in darby were stopped at the door last night and asked about the care of their loved won. in august complaints prompted an inspection by officials with the state attorney general's office findings indicated a pattern of neglect that included serious bed sore s on patients. we spoke with a daughter of a resident who asked to remain anonymous. >> we saw something here and there, back when we first started going there and we were like what the heck, you know, to the point we made sure we had somebody there every day. >> in order to revoke facility 's license was repealed in september and set of conditions that the facility was required to meet was put in place. it has been operating under state control since then. well, police in camden county are investigating after a young girl said she found a needle inside a piece of halloween candy. char lean wagner's 12 year-old daughter made discovery after

trick or treating tuesday night. she ripped over a tootsie roll but instead of biting she started to pull ate part. she noticed the 2-inch sewing needle. the girl's mother wants other parents to be aware. >> my main concern was to get the word out only because i don't want anybody elses kid to do that. >> my officers went out there, they retrieved the candy bar along with the rapper and the needle, and they took the girls candy. >> police have not received any other reports of the tainted candy, officials are reminding parents to get rid of any canned that i appears to be opened or tampered with. medical marijuana could soon be an option for patient ness pennsylvania. state health department officials are launching a patient and care giver registry, it is expected to be up and running in six months, this next step comes after authorities say a pilot program that recently conducted was a success. agency is taking application force participation in the program with the doctor's approval, qualifying conditions include aid, autism , cancer and chronic

pain. happening today jurors in the bribery trial of the new jersey senator bob menendez are set to hear closing arguments. menendez and a wealthy friend are charged with conspiracy, bribery and fraud. prosecutors say, florida eye doctor salmon melgen presented menendez with gifts in exchange for political influence for menendez. jury instructions included a modified definition of bribery after a supreme court ruling that overturn the conviction of the former governor of virginia. turning now to sports, lot of people talking about this for the first time in franchise history houston astros are world series champions. >> astros beat dodgers in game seven last night in los angeles. astros explode out the gate with george springer hitting his fifth home run in the series in the second inning to make it five to nothing astros he home nerd four straight games and was name series mvp. charlie morton got the final out, triggering a celebration more than 50 years in the making.

port richmond this was the scene at mom mouth and gall street a 30 year-old was shot four times in the upper torso this happened around 8:30. officers rush the victim to temple university hospital but he died an hour later. federal hate crime charges have been filed against former police chief of the bordentown burlington county, he is accused of racially motivated attack on a young black man. frank new sarah junior appeared before a federal judge in camden. former chief ace accused of assaulting the handcuffed 18 year-old during an arrest last year. whistle blower in the bordentown police department, reported the incident and said nucera had a long history of racism. >> defendant harbored ab intense racial animus toward african americans. police badge will not shield anyone from accountability, for a criminal act. >> now knew sarah retired from the police force in january, if convicted he could face 20 years in prison. owe is now free, on bond. well, some wild, video now

as a driver smashed in the parked car, did you see that there, police say that driver admitted to taking pcp, saying he was stressed out about his family. well, on the way to the hospital he reportedly asked that did i kill anyone? fortunately the answer was no. i don't know. >> when i'm stressed out, i take advily don't know about you. >> people. >> 4:45. katie has another check of the forecast. >> we will see some green behind you are we expecting showers. >> not today we are looking good. this is a warm front that continues to lift up here and it looks like it is making a beeline. maybe get a sprinkle in the further western suburbs off to the north and west here traveling out toward harrisburg and business in the capitol something like that but bulk of moisture will bypass us off to the north and we do start the morning with moisture to work with and that is where fog issues are coming into play. this isn't a really super widespread concern, we do not have any dense fog advisory but part of the sitting warm

sector of our latest storm system. not the most organized system we have ever seen in our lives but it is a warm, cold front duo crossing through to bring us, weather chances but also a very substantial warm up here today. we were only in the lower 60's , yesterday and we will talk about how warm it gets in the second here, but here are just a couple of spots, and you can see speckles where there may end up being fog issues to travel through here parts of the montgomery, bucks county, more solidified back toward wilmington where we are currently at that observation site we are reporting .3 of a mile visibility. it could come up quickly just keep in mind there may be fog on your travels for morning drive but overall this does look like a not just quiet day but a warm one. 75 degrees. it might as well be mid to late september as we are just starting off officially the fall season. very warm day for what is average, at this time of the year, not too bad. fifty-nine later tonight. still quite mild and yet again that fog will develop because we are still waiting on a cold front passage.

stock market yesterday but it looks like wall street who some steam by the end of the trading day, what happened? >> good morning, that is right , guys it was a mixed finish for stocks. do you still finished with a gain rising 57 points, s and p 500 finished four points higher while nasdaq who 11. federal reserve decided not raise interest rates after its two day policy meeting, central bank opted against raising rights for third time this year. they are expect to raise rates at its next meeting in december. decision comes as president trump is expected to announce his nomination for the next fed chair, jerome powell, a member of the board is considered the front runner, jim and rahel. i understand, sears and k-mart are getting a jump with early announcements about deals, so what are they offering? >> reporter: that is right sears and k-mart launched a so-called holiday blow out promotion yesterday so they are super early. discounts range from 10 to 50 percent. sales run through november 25th, struggling retailer says it is to help

all and all a pretty easy clear view for you hear a cross center city. we have seen areas of fog developing out there and pretty patchy, it will not be a major concern this morning but we are sitting in the warm sector of the storm system warm front lifting in or up i should say to the north and we are still awaiting passage of the cold front that will take place tomorrow. we have ample time to not only warm up but see that fog develop. it looks like a pretty busy storm scan, right? we are generally sheltered though i don't think we have to worry about wet weather, perhaps a sprinkle in the far north and western suburbs that is really it,er wise we do expect to see sunshine throughout the day and a nice bump on the thermometer which we will get to in the seven day. friendly reminder we are coming up on the fall back time of the year where we can
