a high of 73. well, that's not going to be the case, as we head into your saturday afternoon. already starting out your saturday morning on a chilly note. we take to you live look right now, at the city, though, from across the river, where we are dry, it is a crisp start to the day, if you will, the temperature around 47 degrees. in philadelphia. it is 42 in trenton. we're at 43 allentown, chilly spot on the map is mount pocono, at 35. it is also 39 degrees in readingment down the shore, 45 . we're at 47 degrees in wildwood. big temperature change compared to 24 hours ago. specially foreplays cents like reading, the poconos, where we are 20 degrees cold their n this time yesterday. 11 degrees colder right here in philadelphia. so, planning the your saturday , as you head out for coffee, 48 degrees. brunch time, talking mid 50's, out and about, 59 for that high temperature, that's a big difference, compared to yesterday afternoon. then, by continue err time, see the increase in clouds, and temperatures will be in

the mid 50's. now, frontal boundery is going to bring some showers to the region, also, warm temperature ups and downs on the way, details coming up in your full forecast, for now, sending it back to you. >> chelsey, thank you so much. 6:02, time to check the roads, let's go over to amanda mueller in the cbs-3 traffic center. high, amanda. >> hi, jan, by and large looking at the big picture out there, pretty far, but would do have couple of things to take a look at starting here, live look at 95 south, approaching girard, little bit blurry, but there is disable vehicle here, you can see on the left side of your screen, it has got the right lane block, so be prepared to move over if you are headed in this direction. and moving now to chaddsford, trouble on route one northbound creek road. all lanes are blocked here. because of earlier accident. we are told this may have happened around 1:00 this morning, snow has been here for little bit. avoid this area completely. if you can. and finally, to the rest of your majors, of course, our usual weekend construction on 76, between the turnpike and the blue route. that's right lane block there.

the rest of your majors, looking okay, just be ready for some spotty construction out there on the roadways, in the cbs-3 traffic center, aim amanda muler. >> radnor township police now testing brownies to find out how they made some student at radnor high school sick. they were served at thursday night pep rally. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff picks up the story. >> the label on this evidence bag reads: pot. but the truth is, police are not exactly sure what is in this brownie. >> the marijuana, could be something more serious, or it could be nothing at all. >> parent at radnor high school became alarmed after several female student who police say may be all members of the cheerleading team became sick after consuming brownies on school property during thursday night's pep rally. >> parent advise the officers at the time that six student total had become sick. two of them were in the emergency room. and they have both been released and they're fine. >> police believe the total number of sick student is three. their main stomach, nausea.

investigators add at first they were informed that the student had no idea what they took a bite of. but? >> then also getting reports that they knowingly ate it, realizing that it contained something of a control nature. >> what that something is, if it is anything at all, will be determined once the brownie given to police by an affected student center tested by state police. >> the school district is investigating this matter as well. no arrest haves been made. reporting live in radnor township, alexandria hoff, cbs-3, "eyewitness news." >> meantime, a traffic stop for suspected shoplifting ends in a crash that put three people in the hospital. this happened yesterday afternoon, on newtown road, abrams lane, radnor township. officers there say they were following that caribous the women inside were suspected every stealing sheet at a home goods store, police say no one was seriously hurt, and they arrested all three women. bensalem police are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian.

chopper three over lincoln highway near route 32, we're told a man died thereafter a car hit him yesterday evening. the driver did stay on the scene. >> philadelphia will move the statue of former mayor and police commissioner frank rizzo. but we won't know where the statue is moving for some time city lead verse decided to relocate the statue that stood in front of the municipal services building for the last 20 years, protests surrounding the rizzo statue have grown more frequent in recent months because of rizzo's record on race relations, the city plans to move the statue to another location, sometime next year. >> well, thousands are putting on their running shoes today to battle pancreatic cancer. the purple stride 5k walk and run is happening in fairmount park this morning. "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh, is live near the starting line. anita, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, jan , this is very important cause, very urgent mission for this organization, because they say that pancreatic cancer is the third lead willing cause of cancer death

in the united state. and joining me now again is bruce platt, he is the affiliate chair of pan can philadelphia. thank you so much for being with us this morning, i see you've got your gloves on. >> gloves on. >> you are ready. >> yes, we will knock out pan creating cancer. >> you are, so very personal connection to this caution as we've discussed in the last half hour. tell the views why you got involved in the first place. >> one thing, my mom was in her final stages, she has always complains there was never a voice. and we do ask anybody in this thing right now, i got allowed mouth and a big mouth. so i promised her on her death bed that i would be her voice, and stand up, and fight, and stomp out this disease. >> and you haven't stopped since. so expecting 5,000 people today. when you hear their stories, what's going through your minds? >> you know, you jest get so emotionally involved. because like yesterday, a woman came up and her daughter was diagnosed, and 31 years

old, and lived for three weeks and then passed away. that's how deadly this diseases. and gave birth to a six month before that to her daughter. so this, you know, you get these stories, you just want to hug people, you want to cry about it. it is a disease that doesn't have any discrimination. you can get it from we had 23 year old girl, to a 75 year old woman, who passed away from it. >> you said when your mother was initially diagnosed, there was a 2% survival rate. now up to 9%. what is your goal by 2020? >> double the survival rate. we've had this goal for probably three years now, so trying to get in the double digit, hopefully get it above 20%, 25%. right now we have a bill in congress that was passed in 2013. that requires the nci, nih, to have the disease 25% or lower

to have a plan out to try to fix these disease. >> for the people who can't be here this morning, what is the take away you want them to have from this event? >> i just need everybody just to get on the phone, call your congressman, let them know we can't have any budget cuts, and nih, nci, and if you need more information to go to pan cam. com, or pan cam.org/demandsbetter. we need more funds, more money from the government, to try to find this disease and kill it. >> thank you so much. i appreciate your time. so the event start at 7:00 czars the race itself will start at 8:00. and again, 5,000 people are expected to attends this morning. live in fairmount park, anita oh, cbs-3, "eyewitness news." >> anita, thank you very much. >> turning to new york city now, security is being stepped up ahead of this weekends' marathon. it comes just days after a deadly terror attack there involving a truck that killed eight people. cbs news correspondent meg oliver has more.

>> crews are installing concrete barriers at nearly 60 intersections, along the manhattan bike path, where eight people were killed on tuesday. the goal is to prevent another vehicle from end erring the often crowded path. >> it makes me wonder why they didn't have barriers earlier, seems like they put them up pretty quickly. >> steps are also being taken to protect and even bigger potential target. this sunday's new york city marathon. >> more than 51,000 people will participate in the event. and, of course, a course that runs through the city in front of two and a half million spectators. >> we have people here from all over the globe. my message is we will keep them safe. >> we man managed more sand struggles, more blocking vehicles. the most we've ever used in any detail in this city. >> the marathon ends here, in central park, extra k9 and undercover officers will be deployed during the race. with all of the extra security , some say, they feel obligated to run. >> a lot of people put hours and hours and months and years

rape allegation is credible. now, last month, actress accused weinstein of raping her twice in her apartment. the nypd says detective found her story believable, and have corroborated portions of her accounts. >> meantime, netflix has cut ties with actor kevin space i. this follows actor anthony rap 's accusation that space i made sexual advances toward him, when rap was just 14 years old. since then, several members of the house of cards production staff have also made allegations of sexual harrassment, house of cards may continue without space i, one option is having co-star robin wright as the main focus of the series. space i denies the accusations and has not been charged with any crimes. president trump has responded after army sergeant bowe bergdahl received no prison time for deserting his post back in 2009 and getting captured by the taliban. that will tweet the president said, quote, the decision on sergeant bergdahl is complete

a lot of you will be feeling this temperature whiplash all the way into this afternoon. let me start you offer with a couple of pictures from our weather watchers, take a look at adorable dog, after her afternoon walk yesterday. really cute picture there. nice afternoon once again to take the dog for a walk. but it is going to be much cooler compared to what we dealt with yesterday afternoon when we had the high of 73 degrees, yesterday up ear's , moot n behind the branches this morning, just beautiful shot there, temperatures for the water watchers, chilly side. forty's being reported even some 30's, john in pennsylvania, says it is 39 degrees in his backyard. let me take you now to graphics, and show you, a live look at center city where it is also chilly start. 47 degrees, we have wind coming in out of the north, right around 7 miles per hour, feels a a little more like 44 degrees out there. so, a chilly start to the day.

a big difference compared to yesterday morning. we have 43 degrees in allentown, also, some 30's on the map, that's mount pocono at 35 degrees this morning, 42 in trenton, we're at 45 atlantic city, 48 degrees down the shore, in wildwood. our winds, coming out of the north and northeast this morning, we are going to see a shift, a big shift, later on this afternoon, more out of the east, we get the marine influence going, so we will see the clouds really building , thickening on up, headed into the afternoon and evening, and that will happen out ahead of some showers that move in, but not until overnight. so we're anticipating dry day on tap for a saturday. 48 degrees, chilly start, 63 with the increasing clouds, by lunchtime, 59 degrees this afternoon, it is going to be a much cooler afternoon compared to yesterday's high of 73 degrees. with highs only in the 50's, and guess what? more temperature ups and downs on the way. we're at 69 as we head into sunday, 73 by monday. and then the numbers really

fall off. tuesday, 57, 55 on wednesday, by the ends of the upcoming work week, we will be dealing with some of the chilliest air we've seen so far this season. and meantime, we are dry throughout the day today. notice on future weather how the clouds continue to build on in. as we head into the afternoon and evening, and then here come the showers, moving in, overnight, even some patchy, drizzle, all the way into sunday morning, we might even have a shower lingering around , for kick off for the eagles game tomorrow. but it does look like by the fourth quarter observe of the game things will begin to dry out. clouds will still be hanging around out ought there. your forecast for today, much cooler, increasing clouds, look for high temperature of 59 degrees, again, very big difference compared to yesterday afternoon. then, mainly cloudy, showers around, tonight, overnight low temperature of 52 degrees. remember, to fall back as we head into the overnight hours tonight. that means your sunday sunset time, just before 5:00 p.m. so when you're on your way home from the game, actually going to be getting dark out

yourself. >> biologist from adventure aquarium packed a lot of equipment for a passenger weighing less than 2 pounds. early tuesday morning, they made it to sea isle city to meet this rare brilliant baby blue colored chris takes. >> it is about what, one in 2 million genetic mutations? >> it was last week when we met the crew of the two dukes. they scooped up this little guy 700 feet below the ocean surface off the sea isle coast >> we look and we saw the blue lobster. >> then it was cause for celebration, but now what to do with him. behind the scenes, cbs-3 contacted adventure aquarium to see if they had room for the little blue lobster. and they did. right alongside their other blue lobster named elvis. so before packing up? >> the lobster's name will be duke. >> named for the boat he road in on. quick good-bye, and onto camden. rolling into his new addition, he made fast friends. >> oh, my goodness. >> duke will hang out here for

you know, he had a premature baby and i think he had just been given the diagnosis that she had down syndrome. lauren brought out the best in me. she made me a different person. deep down in his heart he feels for people who are disadvantaged. lauren's a light in everybody eye. she's the spark that has started the fire. the goal is to keep places like this open so all people, regardless of disability, have an opportunity for employment. see, i love you. i love you guys too. you know that. yeah.

debated today. >> it hasn't changed in 70 years. still looks the same. >> rizzo known as no nonsense lead here served as police commissioner then mayor. >> this statue went up in 1998 , and it has always made some proud and others uncomfortable. >> i remember when he was mayor. didn't like him then, still don't like him. >> city official announced on friday the statue will be removed, but not destroyed. it will just move to another location sometime next year. >> i was always for relocation , you know, i think it is fine to have statues, i think it is different when it is in the center of the city. >> cyst it councilwoman helen gym proposed the removal idea over the summer during a time when southern state removed confederate rat statues. >> i think there should and pros toast see where the statue could go, where it could be respect everybody, where it is not harmed. >> other say, leave it alone. but that won't happen. >> i am trying to trying to thin maybe it is okay to leave the statue here. i know a lot of people don't

agree with me. >> the city held public forum on suggestions cents from the public, 4,000 suggestions of where this statue should go, we are supposed to find out the first half of 2018. reporting live, david spunt, cbs-3, "eyewitness news." >> berks county man will be brought back to pennsylvania from illinois to face murder charges. police say he killed a 19 year old woman, who refused his marriage proposal. this is a suspect, 34 year old christopher tucker. he was in court on friday in illinois for trying to steel a farmers combine. police say tucker fled to illinois after killing 19 year old girl. tucker reportedly confused -- confessed to the murder, and told police in illinois that pennsylvania authority would finds the young woman's body wrapped in a rug in his albany township home. >> he must have asked her to marry him. when she said no, he just snapped. >> what our troopers found there when they initially got there was very gruesome.

>> police say tucker told them he strangled and beat cirino. >> several philadelphia police officers are being hailed as heroes today after helping rescue residents from a burning home. the fire started around 5:30 wednesday morning, on the 1500 block of west oxford street. that is near temple university the patrol officer spotted the flames, new they had to act fast, because people were trapped inside. >> normal person would think, hey, that's a burning building , that's what a normal person would say, think and do , and us, on the other hand, our training is immediate action right away. there is people in the house. we all have families here. we think of, hey, that could be one of our family. >> they don't call him the finest for nothing. three people went to the hospital, but we are told all of them are expected to recover. >> a camden county police officer who was shot earlier this week is expected to be out of the hospital soon. the department tweeted this picture of officer patrick

o'hanlan in his hospital room. he got a visit from police chief, scott thompson, and new jersey attorney general, chris merino wednesday night. officer o'hanlon shot in the thigh when police say he wrestled a gun away from an alleged gang member. nineteen year old delron may hand being held without bail on several charges including attempted murder. >> happening today: runners and walkers dress in the purple will raise money to fight pancreatic cancer. the purple stride 5k walk and run in fairmount park starts in just a couple of hours now. that's where we find " eyewitness news" reporter anita oh. anita, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, jan this is such an urgent mission because this organization says that pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the united states. right now, i'm standing with a walking miracle. his name is nick, from new jersey, you're 42 year old and two weeks ago you got surgery and you were declared cancer free. that's an amazing story.

tell us about your initial diagnosis, and why doctors said the tumor was inch inoperable? >> yes, sure, so i ended up in the hospital back in march because of stomach and back pain. when the stomach pain first started, i called a gi doctor, and had an appointment schedule a few weeks out. you know, i thought maybe i was just having some stomach distress, and stuff from work. but then i started to notice i started losing weight a little bit, then i started getting back pain that got progressively worse. so whether i went to the er, they did some initial tests and study. that's when they discovered a mass on my pancreas. >> and you have survived cancer now. you said that your family is with you. you have a eight year old, you have a ten year old. what got you through the diagnosis and what got you through the treatment? >> well, i mean, i this think there are a few things, first thing, i'm 42 years old, right so i would like to think that i got a lot of life ahead of

me. and i've got, you know, a wonderful wife, and great kids , and a great family. in addition to that i've been a runner pretty much while whole life. to be a runner and you're little crazy and you have got a lot of mental tough necessary. and i think the mental toughness of running and running through chemo and running through radiation was a big motivator for me. it was the one thing that i wasn't going to let cancer take away from me. >> and you are very tough. but you are also familiar with cancer. your family has a history with cancer. your mother, your cousin, tell us a little bit more about about their diagnoses? >> sure. we lost my mom back in 2010. she was diagnosed when stage four colon cancer. they gave her six months. she lasted six years. so she was pretty tough. when i got diagnosed, i was also -- i also had my tumor -- i had a lot of genetic testing

done. when i had the testing done we found out we had a genetic mutation, and ironically enough, one my cousins was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few weeks before me. and unfortunately her cancer was more progressed than mine, you know, and we had lost her in august. >> i'm so sorry for your lost. what is your message for those who are battling pancreatic cancer today? >> well, i think, you know, i think there is a few things, the first thing is never give up. there is a lot of ugly statistics out there. and what do you have do is focus on what the positive is. focus on that doesn't have to be you. the second thing is i would say is surrender your fears to god. because the more distractions you have, the lessee negative you'll be in treatment. so if you could focus 110% of your efforts on getting better , that's going to be great. and i think the last thing is tell all of your friends and

medford, burlington county to learn the arts every collecting cranberries. >> i am area here in med forwards, new jersey, cranberry harvest season is in full swing and i've gotten grand tour of the bogs, with pine landed a ventures, and we are actually in a bog right now. i learned there are two types of bogs. i kinds of think of the west bog, like ocean spray commercials, but there are actually dry bogs, as well. can you tell cents the difference? >> yes, yes, here mostly harvest dry cranberries, fresh , so if you want to buy them in the supermarket thanksgiving is coming up that's what you want to do. you want to harvest cranberries for harvesting you have to flood the bog, loosen the boeing, with the feeder behind us, cranberry is float to the surface and then off to the processing plant. those are the two different ways we harvest cranberry us. >> once in the processing plant what would they turn
