quiet elkins park neighborhood. why police are focused on his brother. as this investigation unfolds. good evening, i'm joe holden. natasha brown is off. a quiet neighborhood transformed into a crime scene tonight. right now homicide detectives are on the case. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan is in elkins park with the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: a neighbor who didn't want to appear on camera says he was concerned all day when he saw his neighbor harry's car wasn't here. those fear confirmed harry bachman found dead in his home. around 12:this afternoon they were dispatched to the 400 block of north sterling road in elkins park for a wellness check. 64-year-old harry bachman was supposed to meet a family member on friday night for dinner. bachman's brother 60-year-old jamison bachman is being charged with murder. he beat his older brother to death and stole his car. harry bachman was found in the

basement with signs of blunt force trauma to his head and body. jamison bachman was discovered at a motel in upper moreland township. a s.w.a.t. team arrested jamison bachman without incident being held on charges of first and third degree murder. in elkins park, cleve bryan cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> one of the teens shot and killed in south philadelphia last week was laid to rest today. family and friends said a final farewell to 16-year-old caleer miller at love kingdom fellowship church. police say 16-year-old brandon olivieri shot miller and another 16-year-old sal dinubile during an argument. it happened at 12th and ritner on october 24th. olivieri is being held without bail. president trump arrived in japan to begin his tour of asia. philadelphia was the set of one of many anti-trump protests across the nation. at least one clash with trump

supporters led to an arrest: an argument involving three people went from words to a tackle and then handcuffs. demonstrations were mostly peaceful despite that video. about 100 anti-trump protesters listened to speakers at at thomas paine plaa before marching through center city. an aerial view in california shows large groups of protesters on the streets of los angeles. many held up anti-trump signs, others waved the american flag. following a stretch of beautiful weather the last few days, we'll now make some room for a little rain. meteorologist lauren casey live in the weather center tonight watching the storms as they move into the area. hi, lauren. >> hey, joe, yeah, we're dealing with rain now falling across parts of the area. storm scan3 showing us this batch of precipitation moving from southwest to northeast but on radar looking more

formidable than what is hitting the ground. this is mid and upper level moisture. seeing shower activity stretching up into center city where the rain is coming down pretty light. as we head into the next 30 minutes to an hour and seeing the heaviest of intensity rainfall up into the lehigh valley and poconos. allentown seeing some moderate rain coming down but we're not seeing that heavy rain as our reflectivity would reflect some of this evaporating before hitting the surface. we'll deal with some patchy areas of drizzle, some fog around that could locally reduce visibilities and a cool east wind but we change things up tomorrow with a warm front coming through that will boost our temperatures back up to unseasonably warm levels once again. we'll talk about that, plus a little rain in the forecast for the birds and i'll have all the details coming up in just a few. >> see you then lauren. thank you. tonight a big welcome home for members of the philadelphia sheriff's office.

they spent three weeks in puerto rico assisting hurricane victims. family and friends, there those cheers go for inspector michael bass stone perez and carasquillo and marin. they distributed supplies to those in need after hurricane maria. all four have family in puerto rico. a search is under way for a gunman who shot an elderly woman in chester county. she was hit by a bullet in the leg 9:30 last night after that 90-year-old got off a bus at ninth. there's no word if this was a straight bullet or if she was the intended target. she's reported to be in good condition at crozer chester medical send. three days after a new jersey police officer was shot in the thigh at point blank range he's resting comfortably at home. the shooting happened during a struggle with a suspect in camden as officer patrick

o'hanlon was making an arrest. alycia nieves has the latest. >> reporter: after being shot in the line of duty three days ago camden county police officer patrick o'hanlon is leaving the hospital and heading home. giving a thumbs up on his way out to signal he's going to be okay. >> sore, a little swollen but good spirits and just wants to go home and get in his own bed and, you know, relax, get well. >> reporter: officer o'hanlon's father grateful to be taking his son home, grateful the incident wednesday night didn't end in a different way. >> we're extremely fortunate the way that the situation unfolded that the gun jammed and the suspect was not able to finish him off like he tried to do. >> reporter: camden police chief scott thompson says officer o'hanlon was shot in the leg near ninth and chelten avenue in camden after stopping a suspicious man. even though he was shot, the young officer only one year on the force was able to still apprehend his suspect without another officer or another

person getting hurt. >> it was just the training he got. he just reacted and from what i can tell he reacted the way -- in a good way. >> the fact of the matter is that the situation was able to be resolved without anyone losing their life, even the person that was trying to take ours. >> reporter: officer o'hanlon is expected to make a full recovery. there's no time frame of when but his family says he'll return back to being a police officer in camden. in the sat center alycia nieves cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> the former security chief at the delaware prison where a deadly uprising took place earlier this year is no longer with the department of corrections. this was the scene at james t. vaughn correctional center in smyrna on february 1st. a spokesperson for the department says jeffrey caruthers left the prison system on october 20. there's no word on whether he left voluntarily or was forced out. correctional officer steven floyd was killed in that riot which led to the indictment of

18 inmates. new york city is stepping up security ahead of tomorrow's new york marathon. the annual event attracts spectators and runners from around the world and had only ever been canceled once. as wendy gillette reports the added protection comes just days after tuesday's terrorist attack in manhattan. >> reporter: the dando family is enjoying manhattan before kyle runs the new york city marathon sunday. they arrived thursday night. two days after an alleged terrorist who said he was inspired by isis drove a pickup truck into bicyclists killing eight people and injuring 11 others. was there any consideration to pull out when you heard about that terror attack. >> no consideration at all. i'm locked and loaded ready to go. >> reporter: others are a bit more uneasy like new yorker diane malcolm. >> i've been apprehensive about running the marathon but i also realize that i can't let it stop me. >> reporter: the nypd is deploying extra k-9 units
