we are dealing with the largest mass shooting in our straight's history. >> mental health problem at the highest level. >> inside texas church, killing 26, now community and nation are left grieving and is her clinic for answers on how to stop the deadly violence. >> today is monday november 6. good morning, i'm jim donovan. >> katie and meisha will be along in a moment. first investigators are learning more about the alleged gunman, as they look for clues about the motive. courtney live for us again this morning, and in sutherland springs, as officials there try to figure out what has happened so far. also work to determine a motive.

courtney, good morning. >> southerland springs is hurt ing this morning, as we learn more about the suspect, and the parishioners killed in the attack. the local sheriff says it is likely that no one inside that church behind me, could have survived the attack, once the shooting started. >> a day after the worse mass shooting in texas history investigators are still trying to determine a motive. more than two dozen people including several children were shot and killed, during sunday's services at the first baptist church of southerland springs. >> we all are in here know what happened today. it is something we all say does not happen in small communities. but we found out today it does >> the victims ages ranged from five to 72 years old. >> it was bad. i mean, i tried to -- tried to help as many people as i could , you know, and just you

can't explain it, your mind doesn't want to grasp it, you know, the shock of it. >> the suspect has been identified as devin kelley, 26 year old air force veteran, who was discharged for bad conduct three years ago. police say he started shooting before he enters the church. then proceeded to shoot most if not all of the people inside. >> as he exited the church, a local resident grabbed his rifle, the suspect dropped his rifle, and fled from the church. our local citizen pursued the suspect at that time. >> the gunman was followed in his car into a neighboring county then drove off the road when police arrived, the man was dead. >> we don't know if it was self inflicted gunshot wound or if he was shot by the local resident. >> souter lands spring is a rural community about 35 miles east every san antonio. sunday a local resident described it as the kind of place where everybody knows everybody. including the people who were

killed. devin kelley was in the u.s. air force from 2010 to 2014. he was discipline for assault on his wife, and a child, at this point investigators aren't releasing a motive. in southerland springs texas, courtney, now back to you. >> thank you, courtney. >> and stay with "eyewitness news" as we stay up-to-date on the texas church shooting. our coverage continues on line at cbsphilly.com. >> well, turning now to weather, mild start, but changes, well, they're on the way. >> katie we may see thunderstorm. >> yes, i think it is definitely possible. i don't anticipate any major severe weather outbreak. however, folks, what we are going to see certainly some showers and again perhaps a thunderstorm. but it is all courtesy of frontal passage taking place here. specially afternoon progresses , what you'll notice at the wide zoom, yes, batch of pretty heavy rain currently working it way along that maryland-west virginia and pa state boards err there. so that's what's essentially going to bypass us to the northwest, the northwest half of the region up towards the poconos, run the risk to see

carson wentz phenominal once again, missing his favorite target zach ertz, sat with a hamstring injury. and where one -- everyone stepped up in his absence, wentz four touchdowns, leads the nfl with 23 touchdown passes cents, he did it, with a long ball. he connected on short pass plays. he rolled out of the pocket. he used his legs. he had taken commands and the eagles are not looking back. now, while we keep praise on wentz, let us not forget about those running backs. jay ajayi made his presence felt immediately. he pop off 46-yard touchdown run. and went for 77 yards in his debut. and how about glassboro's own corey clement? he had two rushing touchdowns on the day as well. plus he added a third. which was a receiving score. clemente and un drafted rookie free agent ran for 51 yards, as a team birds had 197 yards on the grounds. amazing performance. >> and of course the eagles defense was spectacular.

>> ♪ >> welcome back everyone, storm chase nerves central indianna give us a first-hand look of what it is like to be caught up in a tornado there is happened about 30 miles north of indianapolis yesterday. the storm caused street signs to shake violently, and blue most of the roof off of a local barn. >> that tornado blame foresters struck sean in central indianna. >> this is two hours northeast every indianapolis. severe wet their brought powerful winds, strong rain, lightning, barnes, homes, other buildings are damaged and thousands of people are in the dark. it is not clear when the power will return, and some schools are closed. >> the owner of this property that was lit by a tornado earlier this afternoon. my husband and i were in checking the pigs when the tornado hit. and we were actually in the barn and we made it through, thank god. >> all could you see was the debris flying in the air, you couldn't see maybe 10 feet in front of you, it was chaos.

>> the weather service will be taking look but at this point, but you can see it, doesn't have to take injury, just the property damage that's emotional enough. you snow lose your home. >> all right, we turn to katie now talking about -- not talking about any tornado activity here i don't think. >> likely hear few rumbles every thunder along with few thunderstorms embedded within the next front, but it is the same system that rolled through those areas headed our way. did i want to slow you nice breath of fresh air, still muggy outside granted, but the reason i show you this, you can see the lie of day at 6:16 . so with the fact that we turn the clocks back, keep in mind, that you will be running into sun glare potentially maybe not today, but a lot earlier than were you used, to and that sun is also going down sooner of course, so that does mean that depending when you leave working to home for the evening, you may have that sun glaring right into your forehead.

keep that in mind. now, storm scan definitely lit up with activity here. you have got a lot of very heavy rain specially across portions of west mother maryland, northern west virginia north central pennsylvania. this likely bypasses you but could still clip part of the poconos, berks maybe lehigh county here, tail light of the typical morning rush, but notice the rest of us, just going to be building up the moisture waiting for the front to to cross. that will will take place specially into the afternoon and have rounds of locally drenching rain that comes through, 4:00 p.m., this verifies you've got very soggy commute down portions of route one here in delaware, for example. through the overnight, totally clear, colder air to work, with it will get a clot chillier meanwhile other things to talk about the tropics. hurricane season is not over yet. not until the end of the month we've got tropical depression 19, very likely right now to become tropical storm rena, thankfully no threat to lands. looking forward, boy is it going to get chilly out there

between florence and roebling, be sure to check your schedules on line: jim, rahel , back to you. >> police officers in california say the man from a flaming car, and all caught on camera, happened yesterday about 30 miles east every los angeles. the victim told police that he dozed off at the while and slammed into a pole flipping his car. officers struggled to put out the flames as bystanders did their best to assist. then they her the drivers voice. >> he woke up as the fire was burning his feet. could you hear the man inside going i'm burning, i'm burning get the fire out. ouch i'm hurt, i'm hurt. >> pier was meant gin part. he was on the floor. and the fire was burning him, police used crowbar to pry open the door. few officers suffered minor injuries, amazingly the driver is expected to be okay. >> five days after terrorist attack, tens of thousands of runners pounded the pavement in new york city for the marathon there. while the event went off without a hitch, an american standing at the finish line.

bolstering us trade in the region, one of the main goals on this 12 day asian trip. last year the us trade deficit with japan nearly reached $70 billion. in a speech to ceo here in tokyo, this morning shall the president accused his host of being unfair trading partners. >> japan has been winning. do you know that. >> he called out the executives of japanese automakers, sitting right in front of him. >> try building your cars in the united state, instead of shipping them over. is that possible to ask? >> that's not rude, is that rude? i don't think so. >> when asked about north korea, mr. trump said he hoped for a peaceful solution. he urged japan to take additional steps to protect itself. >> the prime minister of japan is going to be purchasing massive apartments every military equipment, as he should. >> the president wraps up his visit to japan tonight, he heads to south korea tomorrow. cbs news, traveling with the president, in tokyo. >> in local news this morning, block in north philadelphia
