lied. that is a lie. >> but jeff sessions seems to have a hazy memory when it comes to contacts with russians during the trump campaign. good morning from the newsroom here in new york. good to be with you. i'm an marie green. quick action by officials at a northern california elementary school saved lives. they locked down the school when it came under attack by a loan gunman. the gunman killed at least four people and wounded ten others about 120 miles northwest of opened fire at six other locations. before he was killed by police. his mother says he called her the day before and said it's all over in now. police believe a domestic dispute triggered the rampage. chris martinez has details.

>> reporter: law enforcement responded to multiple crime scene in california. including a school where a gunman opened fire. witnesses reported hearing the gunshots and screaming children. he did shoot at a number of classrooms. >> police say the shooter then actually entered the grounds on foot, but classrooms were already on lock down, saving lives. the first 911 calls associated with the spree came in before 8:00 in the morning when police say the gunman targeted and killed a neighbor in an ongoing dispute. >> i think with the motive of getting even with his neighbors and when it went that far, he just went on a rampage. >> a woman and child were injured in their vehicle when the gunman fired at them. >> she was trying to drive herself to the hospital. i encountered her.

republican leaders working on a tax overhaul bill. the revised bill from the finance committee repeats a measure from the affordable care mandate that most americans get health insurance or face a fine. pressuring lawmakers to include the repeal in the overhaul. does no include a repeal. expected to vote on its version tomorrow after members meet with the president. also on capitol hill, attorney jeff sessions was pressed by fellow republicans to appoint a special counsel to investigate hillary clinton. such is told the house judiciary committee. now there's not enough evidence to authorize an investigation, but the majority of the more than five hour testimony focused on sessions changing his recollection of trump campaign dealings with russians during the 2016 election. >> i've always told the truth.

our top story, four people killed, others wounded. gunman went on rampage in northern california. he tried to enter. the doors had been locked by quick thinking staff members. later killed in shootout with police. republican candidate roy moore says the reason he's been accused of sexual misconduct is because there's a spiritual battle going on in the country. moore refuses to step aside despite growing calls for him to do so within the gop. national republican party ended a fundraising arrangement with moore's campaign. on capitol hill, members of congress say they have been the victims of sexual harassment.
